My review of Choice Home Warranty First, understand that warranty companies only make money when the amount you pay for the agreement is less than what they have to pay. With some customers they lose, and with others they come out ahead. I understand how businesses operate; on average, they need to make money to stay in business. If you are signing up because your house is old and has a lot of problems, realize that many of the needed repairs will likely be excluded. Don't expect to get new appliances when one breaks down. Before you sign up and pay, read the agreement in detail. If you understand the problems in your home, you can make an informed decision. I can understand they can't cover everything, so if you do decide to get a policy, realize they only cover a specific subset of issues; There is a very high likelihood that the repairs you need covered will NOT be covered. My mistake was not reading the fine print closely enough. I knew there were some exclusions, but I had some claims denied due to exclusions that were debatable. Some exclusions are fairly clear, others not so clear. The first repair we had was a water heater that started leaking. It was actually an excluded item because it was due to corrosion, but they paid a portion anyway when I told them I simply wanted to cancel the policy. I thought that was nice. Other repairs were declined. Freon leaks for refrigerators are not covered, failure due to age or corrosion, plumbing leaks in the foundation/slab, Also realize what the refund policy is; I didn't read it closely enough. We purchased a five year plan for $1,750. We spent many, many hours on the phone trying to get CHW to cover some repairs, and finally in frustration we cancelled about two years into the agreement. We ended up getting nothing back. I figured we would get some money back, but the fine print says that the refund amount will be the pro rata amount, less any service charges. Had I known I would not have cancelled. It would have been nice if the person who "helped" us with the cancellation had let us know we would get nothing back. They only told us we would be refunded the pro rata amount, WITHOUT telling us they would subtract any amounts paid. For CHW, they get to keep the full amount paid with no further obligation. The only cost is another frustrated customer who might post a negative review. Overall I would have been better off financially if I never signed up; at best for us it was break-even. If I place a value on the frustration from dealing with the claims process and the MANY hours wasted trying to get them to cover charges, this was a colossal waste. Some of the people at CHW were polite and professional, but others we spoke with were just plain rude, and failed to respond to emails and phone calls. Some people might have better luck than me, but I do NOT recommend Choice Home Warranty. I do acknowledge my lack of attention to the details of the fine print contributed to this, but in the end, it was the unprofessional manner of some in the claims process that led us to make another irrational decision and cancel when I am SURE they knew we would get nothing back. They said NOTHING to us about getting nothing back in the cancellation, and in fact told us that we would be refunded the pro rata amount, omitting the reduction by past amounts paid and that we would get nothing. We had to call to be told this. There was no other communication with us that we were not entitled to a refund. My advice: If you are looking for a home warranty product, look elsewhere. However, realize there are likely to be similar limitations with other companies as well. But maybe they are more prompt and professional than we experienced with CHW. If you currently have a warranty with Choice Home Warranty, cancelling is probably not a good idea either because you won't get much back. Do the math: add up any amounts they have paid for you, and compare it to what you might get back. It probably only makes sense if you have never used it. Even though I guess it would have been better to not have cancelled, I can honestly say I am relieved I don't have to go through the hassle of trying to get repairs approved through them and deal with the few unprofessional people. Again, not everyone was unprofessional, but enough.

I have had a couple of requests and had to fight them, which is ridicules , to get them to cover things that they said they would cover in my booklet. I probably will not renew with them..... If I wanted to spend the time, I could find my own people.

This was my second go-round with the Choice Home Warranty program. The first one I was more than satisfied with a quick fast and efficient fix to my air conditioner during the summer. However I'm very unhappy with my experience with my microwave oven. The first guy that was sent out looked at it said there are no parts and took off with the $45. Choice then sent a second person out who took the microwave totally apart and said that grease had gotten up in the inside of the fan and had burnt out a component. He was very thorough and took it apart piece by piece . This microwave was only two years old and I was never informed that I needed to take it apart. I wouldn't have the first inkling on how to do that. My claim was denied because I hadn't cleaned the grease out of the fan. So at this point I am very unhappy with this service. The amount of money I have paid over the last two years I could have bought several microwaves. So they have denied my claim. I have talked family members in three different states into taking out this policy. I am now telling them to reconsider and go with someone else.

I have an old furnace that is dying, they denied all claims stating that they do not cover defective equipment, the furnace is 20+ years old, they said it had a cracked heat exchanger which would be defective, I could take it to arbitration but had to get proof from a qualified person at my own expense and could take up to 30 days. This is Dec in KY way to cold to wait that long and my wife is handicapped which they knew as well. When I asked Jonathan R about a buy out, that was denied by him as well. Steer clear of these people, if they do not get you for defective parts they will get you on maintenance. Go to Facebook and look up the blog on this company. I have since then cancelled my contract and will be going with a far more reputable company. I will also be making a complaint on the BBB sight as well.

This time I really had bad experience compared to normal. Technician was scheduled 4 days after the claim filing, which was very inconvenient to be left with broken oven during Thanksgiving. Then it took 3 days to inform me of the technician's recommendation to replace the oven. Then comes the worst part of offering me $500 cash (after negotiation) for an oven that costs above $1700 to replace. You claimed that what you are offering is based on the national average cost for you, yet you refused to provide the replacement unit instead of cash. This really violates your promise of replacing the item if it is more cost effective than repairing it. I have been with you for almost 3 years and have 13 policies. I have been mostly satisfied with your service, however, I am very disappointed this time and would probably rethink about renewal of the 13 policies.

CHW has been effective in taking the claims when I have had one. That part is ok. The problem I have faced is that they are not living up to the verbiage in their policy language, my agreement with them. They DO NOT replace what you have if it is not repairable. They give you a very LOW replacement offer. I had to dispute the settlement of a dryer and still ended up getting a lesser model than what I had and putting money out of my pocket. I had another claim for my sprinkler box and it ended up I am not covered. Because they sold me the wrong coverage. The agents are not knowledgeable in what they sell you. I have paid for an additional coverage that I did not need for 4 years!!!! As a result another out of pocket expense.. They do acknowledge the claims but it is NOT ALWAYS the settlement that is promised in their contractual agreement.

I didn't enter a claim for the first year. The first time I did try and make a claim, I went online, and the process was easy. This is the only reason I gave them two stars rather than one. It was all downhill from there. My issue revolved around the A/C overflow valve, which was blocked. They denied the claim on the basis of not covering leaks. A blocked overflow valve, which is probably the most common of all maintenance issues on A/C systems, is not a leak. I tried calling and emailing, but their communication was terrible. No response to my appeal. Be very careful to read all the exclusions- I supposedly had full coverage- I say this knowing full well, as does Choice, that virtually no-one actually finds the exclusions in advance. As it turned out, I had to pay well over $300 to get my system cleared. I confess that I'm very unhappy with Choice! Try someone else. As it turned out, I shared my reviews with choice warranty, and they were very sorry for not having addressed this differently. And they ended up compensating me for the out-of-pocket cost to get the repairs done. I mention this In an effort to be fair.

I have had CHW for over 15 years. They have paid only upto 50% of my claims with a 50% approval percentage.My most recent claim was for an AC evap coil on 09/27. I have had my system maintained through CHW every year. I call them to perform a checkup, they send a tech out, I pay my service fee. In May 2019, I called CHW again and asked for a checkup before summer. Everything was OK. Coils were inspected and found to have no corrosion. Fast forward to 09/27, my ac doesn't cool effectively. Called CHW, and a tech diagnosed a leak in the coil. He said that the support brackets has some light rust due to humidity in the gulf coast. The moment CHW heard RUST, they denied the claim. The fins and coils are made of copper / Aluminum and typically do not rust. But CHW keyed in on that word, and all was lost. I asked for a second opinion, and called a company i I found on BBB. They also called CHW in my presence, and specifically told the authorization agent, that the coils are leaking, but not due to corrosion or rust. The agent asked if there was Rust, so the tech replied there was rust on the support bracket and in the casing, but not on coil as the coils are made of copper and the fins are aluminum. Coils were leaking not as a result of issues not related to rust. But that was not enough. Case manager was nice, but did not budge from the denial. They had heard the word "rust", and even if it was on a different planet and was of a different variety of Steel based rust, that will not affect Copper or Aluminum, they determined that the claim will be denied. Very disappointed. I have maintained system every year. The AC in any part of the world is a de-humidification device. Also, if there is air in your home, there is going to be Oxygen (which we need to survive), Carbon Dioxide (which we exhale) and moisture (which exists in the environment). When air goes through a coil to cool down the home, it is going to condense moisture on the coil, which then drips into the primary drain pan and then to the drain. I am not sure how we avoid these components from entering the air stream . Our home was purchased brand new, and coil is 7 years old. I guess only one entity can benefit from having a service contract/insurance, and its definitely not the customers.

HOWEVER, when I went to pay the $85 service fee that Choice Home Warranty quoted, he said that he had never had anyone else with the same plan pay that much! He said they have paid $50 or $60, but never $85. Was going to email Choice Warranty, but couldn't find an email link on the home page, so now it's a public review!

1st experience - Had a leak through my garbage disposal. Submitted a request for a service call. In a timely manner someone came and looked at it submitted the info to CHW and later that afternoon had a new disposal same hp and brand. 5 stars Last experience. Washer was making a noise and ran all night long. Went through the same process, technician came out said I'll submitted the info for repairs. Next day get an "offer" from CHW for $349, stating that it's not worth getting repaired and we found the average replacement cost to be $349. I declined the offer because I couldn't find anything NEAR that price. Lori J was assigned to be my follow up contact with CHW. I explained that the unit was HE, stainless steel tub and those on the low end go for $700. She looked up what she thought was comparable and said X retailer had one for $529, we can make you an offer for $450. I said in that case I'll have mine repaired. She said I'll send you the check for that amount. I said don't you just send it to the technician, she said no. I'm not even sure if that will cover the cost for repairs. I declined that offer and now seeking advice. I'm glad it happened now, because now for sure I won't renew in a month when it expires

I have not had any major breakdowns while I was covered. I did have a faucet in a garden tub that broke. They first said it was not covered because it is a fixture. I argued that to fix it requires a major disassembly of the tub. They still would not get it fixed but paid me a small amount on the claim. I still can't afford to get the tub fixed. I don't know what would happen on a major claim. But I did sign up to renew the plan.

I called your office back in late August or early Sept. to report a problem with my Samsung refrigerator. I was told that someone would get back to me to get it fixed. Then I got a call back telling me they couldn't get anyone so if I wanted I could get someone to fix it. So I got someone and after he told me what was needed he was going to order the parts. Lo and behold I get a Tech from Sears over to fix my Samsung Refrig. and he tells me the other tech was ordering the wrong parts so he ordered the parts that he said would fix the problem and after waiting another week for the parts he comes Monday Sept.16 installs the parts tells me not to use the freezer for 24 hrs. So I waited 30 hrs and when I went to put something in the freezer it wasn't working not freezing anything so now I am frantic because my wife is telling me it's not working. So I call sears home services and I start getting the run around. After talking to your rep. and going through the one person to another person I finally have someone who tells me that I should call there office tomorrow morning to see if they can have someone come to fix me refrig maybe. So I wait till tomorrow wondering what happens next. I could go on and on but I have said enough for now, so that's my review. Let's see if anyone is paying attention to my statement.

What a joke? I submitted a claim after paying them for over 1 1/2 years. My AC stopped working. They sent out a repair tech and he said I needed Freon and said he added it to my unit. He told me I needed a UV light to kill mold in my AC which is weird because I have one in there. 🤔 After trying to sell me that for $1300 he left. 2 months later AC goes out again. I called out my own company and they informed me that my coil was leaking Freon. 🤔 Why didn't the guy they sent tell me about this issue? After my AC company tried to get Choice to repair the $2300 problem my claim was denied twice! I cancelled my policy as of today. They get their money but if something major happens you are still screwed. Thanks Choice. Glad I paid you for nothing. It will be over 100 degrees tomorrow here so myself, my wife and 4 small children thank you for ripping us off. Great Job! They offered to give me $150 toward my repair so I wouldn't cancel. No thank you! How about you do what I paid you to do!

My refrigerator is not working,I claimed with Choice Home Warranty, the technician came to check it out and recommended for replacement due to costly repairs. CHW paid for replacement fairly because of aging refrigerator. I bought the new one ,it is fair for both sides.

I had two claims. One was electrical and I rate the experience a 10. Customer service call in service Ladies, Charo and Katia were very pleasant and professional in the handling of my service call .Mike P with A Team electrical was excellent in customer service and fixed the issue right away. The Garbage disposal issue was not so good. I rate the non replacement of the unit by Choice a zero. I had to pay for the replacement of $227.00 of the unit. David did a great job installing the unit and had excellent customer service. The only thing Choice paid was the plumber’s labor .Not Happy with Choice on the non replacement of the the garbage disposal. I will not renew Home Warranty with Choice if nothing is done about this.
