I never knew there were so many home protection companies. I chose American Home Shield many years ago and are very happy with them. I have had many claims as the years wet by and each and every time they were very quick to respond and fix any problem to my satisfaction. They fix or replaced our washing machine, stove, refrigerator, air conditioner many times and many other things. When ever I called they had service people over the next day to repair or replace the problem. Every time I called in they always asked if there is anything else that needs repair. They replaced many items because they were beyond repair without any argument. There are many choices for home repair, but there is only one AMERICAN HOME SHIELD. I'm very lucky I selected them to start off with. I have no desire to switch because nobody could possibly give me better service. If you try American Home Shield you will see yourself why I will not chance changing to another company. When you are 100% satisfied with a companies services why change!!! I hope you are smart enough to try them first, as I did.

Have used American Home Shield for two different houses. First house in Stockton. Had to make a call when my AC was not working. Hard to test that in the winter. It took a week to get a tech to come service it but that was faster then if I tried myself because I did call around and check. A heatwave does that. So no issues on that. I had it for the second house I purchased and currently live in. Used it twice in 18 months. The first time for a burner on my stove that failed and the second time for a light in the kitchen controlled by two different wall switches. The tech was good. No issues.

AHS adds plenty of value for their service. For example, their max coverage is less than their service fee, at around $68 per month, has given me great piece of mind. Like many homeowners who've bought existing homes recently, the appliances that are left behind, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, etc., tend to be in good working order and usually of a decent look, so we keep them around. The issue with doing that is that the warranties on those items are typically expired when you close, so unless you have some funds in the bank for a costly repair and/or replacement, AHS covers you. Not only is their coverage fair and comprehensive, but I've also submitted a couple of claims in the past 4 years and the caliber of the contractors has been great. Moreover, AHS has improved their website's UI and features so that with some claims, you can choose your preferred contractor based on customer reviews and such. This feature has been invaluable to me and has caused me to continue purchasing coverage from AHS and even become a customer of those contractors when in need of non-claim services.

Some people don't know about Home Warranty coverage. I didn't know about it until a few years ago when money got tight and everything needed to stay on budget. One thing people overlook is the need to keep their appliances in good working order. Just when you don't need an added expense, your refrigerator or over or washing machine will breakdown. Repairs sometimes cost more than buying a new appliance. Unlike homeowner insurance, home warranties will give you incentive for covering the cost of necessary home items. Homeowner insurance coverage handles natural disasters and fire, theft. But sometimes the refrigerator breaks down and you can't afford to buy a new one. This is where the home warranty comes in. I did a lot of looking in my state and found American Home Shield that can fit anyone's budget to make you're not going to be without something you desperately need in your home.

We have had policies with this company for multiple homes that we have lived in. We have also had policies with them for homes and apartments that we used as rentals. They have been easy to communicate and they have covered things that have broken like hearing and air conditioning systems. They are quick to come out and inspect problems and quick to get things fixed. We are very satisfied as customers of their company. As long as you make the recommended cleaning and inspections and keep service records, you will be spared from major expenses to have them fixed when they break or stop working properly.

Will it renew this after expiration from home purchase. Trying to get a dishwasher fixed and have had four different calls and I still do not have a. Working dishwasher. For the amount of money they paid for parts and labor it would have been cheaper to replace the dishwasher!!!! Don’t waste your money!

We have had american homeshield for many years and they have progressively gotten worse and worse. They can’t keep good repair companies, they send subpar companies who sometimes don’t even show up. They never want to do a full repair just a bandaid. You can NEVER get anyone on the phone who can actually help. It can take months before they get it taken care of. We have been waiting since May ‘25 for them to fix our pool pump, 2 vendors were assigned both flaked out and didn’t show. Because they could not find us a tech AHS gave us the option to get our own licensed pool repair company , which had to get the ok from AHS before we could use them, they came out diagnosed the issues now AHS wants to send another tech for a 2nd opinion ??? It’s now Aug. ‘25. Their customer service is non existent please take heed and find another warranty company. They absolutely do not care about their customers. We’re done!!

Our refrigerator has been broken since July 7, 2025 we notified American home Shield on that date. It is now July 23, 2025 and we are still living with no refrigerator. The local people have ordered a part and Fed Ex sent the part to the wrong address, and we still haven't got our refrigerator workin g. Two weeks without a working refrigerator is inexcusable. We are senior citizens we have several medications that we can't keep cold.

We have a contract with this supposedly great company. What a joke!! They stall and if you actually want something repaired you have to be the one to follow through! If an inept, rude, dirty repairman comes to your home they don't care. You can be without a fully functional appliance, even a refrigerator for weeks, and they don't care at all. They can transfer you to anyone but no power to transfer you to a truly qualified company. If you have a problem or complaint they will just blow you off or keep transfering you to people who do nothing at all. I would never have believed how they treat customers as badly as they do. If I could give you minus 5 I would!

We had been with American Home Shield for over a year. Our refrigerator stopped working on May 16th, 2025. we called AHS on the 17th and they sent a technician who was scheduled to come on the 20th. he showed up outside of the three hour window we had to take time off to be there for and then he said the compressor was bad and that he wouldn't repair it -it wasn't worth his time. American Home Shield then sent a second company who never showed up at all. Finally on May 23rd they were supposed to come to diagnose the fridge(again) they were also late and called to say there was traffic. We told them the tech before and they said they would put in for the compressor and updated software. The parts would take a week and be shipped to me. The parts came and we had to wait another few days to get an appointment. the company then called during the time they were scheduled to show up and said they didn't have the tools they needed and would have to reschedule (another week....) They finally came and had to come back 4 times but were unable to fix the fridge. They put in for a replacement. American Home Shield made us wait another week until June 20th at 5:25 to say that they granted the replacement but were only giving us $643 of the $2000 they were supposed to give us because we had to pay all the previous technicians. We filed with BBB and are going to make a point of communication how unresponsive they were throughout the whole process. When you try to call American Home Shield you get someone who barely speaks english and can never help you. 36 days without a refrigerator - good thing we had home insurance to cover the cost of expensive repairs/replacement...I am so disappointed in American Home Shield and I hope no one else chooses to use their service.

Lone star appliance repair in Virginia did a great job. The problem was Choice Home Warranty. They took the $100 deductible from me, and scheduled a tech with a time and date to come to my house. I get an email from choice saying my appointment is confirmed. A few hours later I get another email saying the appointment is cancelled. I couldn't get in contact with anyone with choice to find out what was going on. Four days passes and I get a random text from a service technician from another company saying he'd be to my place tomorrow. That's great but there was zero communication from choice.

Complete dismissal of how unsafe this was for my family has left me feeling unheard, unprotected, and questioning the value of the service I’ve paid into for years. I initially contacted AHS at the end of March about a failed AC unit. I live in FL, where temperatures in March already reach into the mid-80s. I have proof that my home’s interior temperature climbed to 86°F, despite running every fan available. This isn’t simply uncomfortable—it’s dangerous, especially for children. In fact, my child began experiencing headaches and nosebleeds as a direct result of the heat. When I reach out the messaging minimized this reality, suggesting it only becomes unsafe in “extreme temperatures.” That response was not only inaccurate, but dismissive of the clear health risks we were facing. The “solutions” I was given were either: 1. Pay for an upgrade out of pocket, or 2. Source and pay an outside HVAC company to attempt the repair—if they could even locate the backordered part (both tech and Geri told me there was a strong possibility they would not). In that case, I would only be given $600. Waiting 90 days in Florida heat was never a viable or safe option, yet that’s what your company suggested. What exactly were we supposed to do in the meantime—continue subjecting ourselves to unhealthy and unsafe living conditions? It is absolutely unacceptable to place your customers in that position. Because the part was unavailable and no timely repair was possible, your obligation under the contract was to provide a replacement. Instead, I was left with no choice but to act on my own, spending $3,494 to ensure the health and safety of my family. The $125 offered to me is not only insufficient—it adds insult to injury given the seriousness of what we endured. I’m not just disappointed. I feel abandoned by a company that promised to protect my home and stand behind its coverage. I have been a loyal customer for years. I never imagined I’d be left alone in a situation that jeopardized my family’s health. I will continue to escalate this matter until it is addressed appropriately and fairly.

Not happy customer!

My dishwasher and dryer seem to be getting no power; both went out the same day. I reached out to AHS to get the issue resolved. I paid the $100 to get an electrician to come out with hesitation that it was electrical. It was NOT! Now I have to pay an additional $100 to get an appliance repair person to come to my home to hopefully solve the issue without a big problem.

Had my hot water heater go out on 12/20/24 it is now Jan 2 and still no hot water heater call customer service again today person was clueless try to say plumber was holding it up spoke with plumber before I call American home they were still waiting for American to tell them were to pick it up anytime pluming has try several times to get info for heater and tracking number if I didn’t have American home shield I would go to home depot or Lowe’s and had it fix in one day twelve days is unacceptable

They don’t know their vendors and they don’t care. I recently had a plumbing issue and the company they sent over suggested many repairs that were not required. It was a plugged pipe and they denied the claim. The company they hired said the clog was over 100 feet and they don’t cover over 50. 100 feet would put the pipe in the middle of the street…the clog was under 25’ but they didn’t want to listen to myself or my husband and we aren’t “certified” plumbers. Guess what, we may not be BUT We can read a tape measure.

When I was deciding on subscribing with AHS the sales representative told me that AHS removers the AC unit off the roof. Then after subscribing I was told that AHS DOES NOT REMOVE the old AC off the roof. THEY LIED in order to get a new subscription!

Very unhappy. They keep sending out HVAC companies with very poor reviews. When I called concerned and spoke with Elise she refused to assign another company. I do plan on dropping this company as this has been a nightmare. We have gone 3 weeks with no ac. I requested that their quality assurance team do their job and look into these companies they are contracting. The company I’m being forced to deal with has multiple one star reviews and the reviews even spoke negatively about AHS. Something has to change or they will go out of business.

The coverage for plumbing is awful. I paid you $125 to call your plumber , and because my home (and the several hundred homes in my community) have the plumbing access vent on the roof, the work was not covered. I ended up paying the entire service plus your fee, out of pocket. I'm guessing this won't be the last time I feel ripped off.

The company does not covered anything’s. The experience I had with American home Shield,. Each time I had a service request, I had to pay a lot of money out of pocket. You do your monthly payment and when you request a service. You have to pay $125 upfront and when the technician comes out. They tell you, the company is not covering this and not covering that. You will end paying money out of pocket.

I feel like I’m being over charged to fix my garage. I had no clue I had to come up with so much money to have it fixed. Because I was having to come with so much money, I decided to do a cash out, believing I would get the amount AHS was going to pay, which was $400.00, but all youre giving me is $92.00. This is ridiculous. So I am going to have to continue to use AHS to fix my garage and pay $500, that isn't in my budget, at all. I’m very disappointed with your company.

I’ve been waiting for over a month to get my refrigerator service and every time they set the appointment they reschedule and say they’re waiting for a part. That’s been here for over four weeks. I feel like they’re avoiding to repair this refrigerator and my food is spoiling. I’m having to limit the amount of food I put in the refrigerator because it is being spoiled, so my opinion, I am extremely dissatisfied and disappointed with the outcome

The quality of technician I get. Some technician have told me that the learned there stuff from YouTube. One time I received a technician to check my washing machine. After standing in front of the machine he stated " I think is the valves, but if that doesn't work you a 30 days for us to come back again".
