Created a request for a blockage in sewer line. First plumber recommended hydro jetting since he couldn’t get through with the snake. AHS changed the service request to ‘pipe leak’ and sent another plumber. He was dumbfounded when i told him he’s here to jet the line, said that his company doesn’t do that and he’ll tell AHS they sent the wrong guy. Next day, service request was marked ‘resolved’. Called AHS and they said the second plumber reported that there is no blockage in the sewer line. I explained the situation and that the plumber didn’t check a thing, but they said he’ll provide proof in 24 business hours and they’ll get back to me. 48 business hours later, I still have a blocked sewer line and had to leave the house because of a lying plumber and AHS, who haven’t called yet

I have had two costly experiences with warranty service. The first time was being charged extra for a plumbing leak because the repairman stated it had limited access that turned out repairing the leak in three minutes. The second time was using the solicited air conditioner tune up program and when the repairman showed up, he found a defective part. Cost me $370 to have that repairman replace the part that should have covered under the warranty. The repairman never elevated the defected part to AHS and told me to write him a check on the spot because he didn'taccept credit card. Note the repairman could not give me a bill identifying the defected part because he said he had to take the check back to the office and wait for the check to clear. I never received the bill from the repairman. I complained to AHS and I was told that I should have initiated a new workorder when the defective part was noted.

Probably a 4.5 because sometimes the wait times are long. Also it may require a few calls to get an issue resolved. When they get everything lined up for you, the process is usually smooth. I like the emails and text to keep you in the loop.

I needed A/C repair in June...AHS was unable to find someone to help me and I ended up finding my own repair person. They told me they would refund the $80+ money I paid to make the appt. I not received it ! Also, no local repair companies would work under AHS because every time you call, you have to wait online for over an hour. This is true, I did it 4 times !

While I love the responsiveness of AHS, I am not as impressed with all of the contractors. While one contractor called me almost immediately, the second contractor took almost 12 hours and then can't come out for 3 days.

We have been with AHS for over 10 years and have had great service but in the past couple of years the companies that AHS has chosen to work with have done fair to poor jobs with customer service and repairs. We still use AHS because they do cover what we need but the quality we had in the beginning of our working relationship has declined.

It's been just ok so far. I don't like that you have the option to say "still not fixed" and then the new service request it creates charges you, even if you're within the 30 day guarentee. That's not ok, also it was extremely hard to hear the customer service representative that I spoke to on the phone. She was helpful mostly, but I couldn't hear half of what she was asking or saying to help answer her questions.

To start, I filed that my dishwasher quit drying in February of this year, AHS gave me an 800 number to call for sears service. Every time I called their prescribed number, I got some one I couldn't understand and they eventually hang up with me while on hold. In June of this year, I call AHS for some other service , they found me Joplin Appliance Repair which is local to me. 1st appt. was June 18th, Richard showed up at 08:05, said there was a bad switch and that he would have to order, left at 08:10am. Called to return and install failed temperature switch Monday 6/28 at 08:45 when appt. was set for 07:00. Richard was onsite a total of 20minutes. No, Teat check was done, so I ran a load of dishes and still no heating cycle. I called AHS again that issue had not been resolved. Joplin Appliance rescheduled for July1st between 08am and noon. Richard called me and said that he failed to reset the dish washer and that he could talk me through the sequence to do so. I did. I then ran a cycle through my dish washer with the same NO Drying results. Called and left messages with Joplin Appliance for a returned call... crickets!! So. in closing, I have paid my 100$ deductible and AHS has paid Joplin Repair $200.25, the dish washer has been in service for 3years and depreciated value verse amount already spent is of equal or lesser value. I am about ready to cancel AHS and go to a more reputable Home Warranty group. Andy Dupree

It's great to feel protected in case something fails in your home that is not covered by Homeowner's insurance. AHS has been there for us when we needed AC service as well as plumbing issues. The choice of service providers is not always the best, however.

More attention should be paid as to whether requested repairs were done vs someone showing up to tell you they can't perform the task Your deductible is gone and the repair still needs to get done. Also the requested work eligibility should be verified BEFORE sending someone out to tell you that it's not civered. Again deductible is gone. Money wasted, customer frustration and dissatisfaction. This happened to me twice.

AHS could improve by allowing the customers to choose a particular contractor to fix things that are covered. Sometimes the contractor they automatically choose is booked up for several days. When customers are filing for a service it is usually an emergency.

I do like that they have improved the scheduling an appointment needed. It is still difficult to get vendors to call back in a timely manner for appointments. it takes too long to get a vendor to answer an appointment, especially when it is an applicance as air conditioning or heating. This is needed quickly in many cases and waiting for 3-4 days is not satisfactory.

I'm please that my co-pay is less than a visit, but unhappy that I still have to pay out of pocket when I use the service-- for the air-conditioner freon. I'm also unhappy that AHS doesn't offer credits for upgrading things that are broken and can't be fixed... freon leak. Also, very unhappy that United Air lied and said you offer $1K in credit toward an upgrade (but only during "authorization", so Customer Services knows nothing about it. You should stop contracting with United Air because David lies.

They are going out of their way to not honor the contract. I have gone without air conditioning for nearly a month, on the hottest days of the year. My family was sick from the heat. The contactor came out after 3 days the first time. Claimed they could not honor the contract because there was dog urine on the outside compressor; however the outside compressor worked and is still working just fine. It is the fan motor on the unit inside of the house that is bad. First guy came out, changed the capacitor, but did not bother checking the motor. It ran for 3 hours and stopped again. A week later another company came out checked the motor, put in a new fan motor. It worked just fine for 3 days. I smelled wires burning from the unit inside and shut it off. Called AH'S for a 3rd time. This guy said I needed a new inside unit. I then hired my own outside company. They said the malfunction had nothing to do with the compressor outside, but instead the inside fan motor that had been installed was defective. I have tried to contact AH'S about this several times using the same reference number resulting in either hang ups or recording saying the request has been cancelled. I should have done my homework first. Everyone I have shared my story with said that AHS will find any kind of way not to honor the contract by doing a replacement when needed. I am retired and on a fixed income, I purchased AHS as a safety net for repairs. I've only used them twice before in the 4 years that I have been a member. I could have purchased a new unit with the money I have wasted on them. No safety net here, only got caught in The AH'S. Just waiting now for Karma to catch up with them and it will.

For so many years the repairman sent didnt speak English well, came in unmarked vehicles,no company logo or uniform. Rarely could fix problem. I stopped calling them and paid out of pocket. I was going to cancel but had plumbing issue...same or similar again. I thought this is, if I get the plumbers as past, I'm canceling. What a wonderful surprises when Roman's plumbing called, set up appt which worked with my schedule. Came on time, company vehicle and uniform. I didnt have to supply rags or anything. He was prepared. Ordered a new disposal, returned to install with schedule which allowed me to miss minimal work. Great job Roman's plumbing so I didnt cancel. Soon after had appliance issue, called and had similar wonderful experience. Perhaps American Home Shield is selecting qualified professionals who are interested in performing. Hope this type service from AHS continues. ontinues

Good coverage, as long as the homeowner understands how to fill out the form correctly. I don't like that if a homeowner logs an issue like "plumbing leak" to find out it's a "Plumbing stoppage", and have to pay a 2nd fee. The technicians were professional. We have 2 units. Both were down in the beginning. The upstair unit was fixed quickly. The downstair unit was down for about a week. Improvement could be with customer service, not getting a new agent every time you call , possibly working with the same agent if a ID number is provided for the same issue. Wait time can be horrible or even finding a vendor to supply your area. Miss communication on canceled authorizations without the customer knowing is never a good thing. They price continues to increase annually without the customer's knowledge. They continue to try to make me pay a service call twice for the same issue days after completion or incompletion of the service.

My suggestion is for American Home Shied to listen to what it's customer is saying. In our case on several occasions we have been sent repair men that did horrible work resulting in us having to call back. When a customer KNOWS a company in their city affiliated with AHS we should be able to say who we want to fix our appliance!

I doubt I will use the plumbing companies you select as the work is sub par and take too long to respond to the problem. It's difficult to get in touch with a person. I was charged 2 times for the same service. I had my washer serviced and when the tech left the UE is still lighting up. Did an online chat and was assured a ticket would open ... nothing happened I had to open one up again for the same service and was charged another $100 ! When the tech came he said there was nothing he could do except fix the work the previous guy did. Also, now I'm waiting for the computer board to be replaced in hopes the UE sensor doesn't stop the washer. The balancers were replaced and a water pump

When technicians are scheduled to come out home shield does not follow up to see if the visit has been completed. Instead you have to call to ask questions when you have not heard from the technician in a timely manner. Customers spends resources with American homeshield & not the technicians. Also when the job is complete a lot of times no work has actually been done but instead you are receiving advice if no work is done the customer should be refunded
