I had American Home Shield insurance for about over 10 years. During that time. I did see a decrease in the response time and also an increase in price. I found this product, our service to be more expensive than what I needed.

Signed up with this service, 4 months later had water heater issue, filed a claim. after 7 days with no hot water and hearing nothing back on when we could expect a technician, a phone call was placed to AHS, Wthin a few hours of the phone a contractor was scheduled, I had to call the technician myself, schedule the appointment. Which was done so for the very next day. The technician NEVER SHOWED UP, then would not answer the phone. I then reached back out to AHS and all I was able to do was leave a message. I never received a callback, absolutely no communication, worst customer service I ever experienced and after 7 days without hot water we decided to just call a local company and get the issue resolved. It was costly and for one on a fixed income, it was very hard. But had no choice. After getting the issues resoved on our own, I immediately CANCELLED this service... 3 days later we get a call from them saying they were going to get someone out right away. Then 4 days later we get a call asking to give them a second chance. This was denied and the contract was cancelled promptly. I would caution anyone looking for this type service. I would NOT recommend this one to my worst enemy.

Generally AHS was a good company but their fees went up every year and they what they covered seemed to decrease every year. They got too expensive to keep as a warranty company.

Bought a home with an American Home shield warranty. The A/C compressor soon went out. The warrant did fix the A/C , however it did go out again about 6 months later after the warranty expired, and I had to replace the whole system.

We’ve been with this company for 23 years and to be quite honest it’s been a hastle for 23 years. It’s hard to get a English speaking representative to help you. Most of the time I’ve felt that they are not understanding my “crisis” at the time. So we finally decided to get rid of that headache and chose a different company. No more headache.

So, AHS. Big no for us. Our claim was denied without much of an explanation. We went back and forth on it for awhile and finally they sent someone. He was very rude and unprofessional. It cost much more than it should have. If you’re handy or close to someone that is. Save your money. No, literally. We canceled AHS and just add what would be the monthly premium + $100 to our savings account every two weeks for home sinking fund. The account grows interest all the while saving for emergencies that we can do ourself or hire someone to do.

The worst company I have ever dealt with. We had a home warranty and our air conditioner quit working. Their tech came out and said it needed replaced told us he would not be able to do it for a week. Then disappeared. Never even heard back. We called the tech, we called the company and they couldn’t find anyone else to help us . We got outside authorization, but the company wouldn’t deal directly with AHS for a variety of reasons. AHS tried to say they would only pay $1000 for the $8000 repair. We had to record conversations, contact better business bureau, consumer affairs, and our state attorney journal. We had take out a loan to cover the cost until the attorney general started representing us and compelled them to pay us what was owed. It took us almost a whole year to get our money.

I received this as a gift from my realtor when I purchased my house. I never got to file a claim because nothing broke that was covered. After purchasing a new home warranty the second year I noticed how much wasn't covered by American home shield. Be very careful when you buy a warranty to read the fine print with what is covered. American Home Shield does not cover appliances.

I used American Home Shield for years. Their customer service was always very slow. Sometimes I would wait literally hours on hold to discuss a claim. Even though they were difficult to deal with they were very good at sending out service people who got the job done. About two years ago I noticed that they were getting even slower and it would sometimes take as long as two weeks before they would send out a repair man. Then when the claim was put in they would fight with the repair man and not want to pay. It was taking up all my time to deal with them and I was waiting for weeks before I got my appliance fixed. It was terribly frustrating and inconvenient. Finally I had enough and found another home warranty company. I would not recommend them to any one.

Not pleased with this warranty company - do not waste your time as their are certainly better ones out their! I filed a complaint(s) with American Home Shield and they either ignored, declined, or misdirected me each time! No one ever seemed to pick up the phone, leaving me with a very bad taste of what their customer service is like. You might as well start your own warranty company seeing as Am. Home Shield won’t ever even get back to you.

I am a real estate agent. I have been purchasing a home warranty packages through this company for every transaction for every sale I make for the new homeowners for over 10 years. The last two years have been a nightmare. Currently I am dealing with this company for a purchase of my own where I bought my own home warranty package. It has taken me two years to get a plumber to show up and finish the job. It will be a miracle if they show up on Thursday as scheduled because something always goes wrong with the selection that American home shield has provided. I have asked them for another plumber they told me there isn’t one. The last time this plumber showed up he was three hours late, arrived and then stated that he couldn’t do the job because he didn’t have enough time. I am also a full-time school teacher. so I have very little time to keep rescheduling appointments. I actually had to purchase a second year because of their inefficiencies. Who knows how Thursday will go, I am running out of time. I definitely will not renew my contract nor will I purchase any other service plans through this horrible company.

We had AHS for a year or so and they were very difficult to communicate with. They did pay out a claim we had with them; although the process was difficult. We had to stay on top of them the entire time to make sure we were able to get our claim approved. It wasnt and enjoyable experience to say the least.

I signed and paid my member fee. I called later as I had a leak in my dishwasher. They said it would be two weeks before someone could come out! I said I would find someone else and wound up fixing it myself. Guess I didn’t need them after all! I called and they gave me a full refund.

When I purchased my home, my realtor bought me a year with American Home Shield. We used them one time and it took 4 visits to get the problem fixed and they charged me my deductible every time. So basically, I felt as if the Tech did just enough to keep it going knowing that I would have to call them back. I finally fixed the problem myself for less than what the Tech had charged me for the 4 service calls. and of course, I did not re-new the plan.

Our AC went out in July in Phoenix, AZ and American Home Sheild was the warranty holder on the rental home we lived in. We waited for over 10 days for anyone to come out and service the AC unit!! It was oppressive!! Apparently their computer system had failed on a Friday and our unit went out on he same day. Even though they were back up by Monday, it still took another week plus to help us. Worst customer service experience I’d ever had. I would not recolmend this company.
