Very very bad experience, AHS is unethical, poor customer service and lacks business value . I feel cheated when it came to my Claims experience, they will find loop holes & has no Intention of resolving the issue or paying for any claim. Save your money & stay away. If you do have a contract make sure you review the cancellation fine print. They charge you for cancellation too.

Worst company to work with. You have the Phillipino's you have to deal with before you can be transferred to a US representative. 2.5 hours to get to that point. Then you have the rude representatives that are trained to hang up on you if they don't want to deal with you being upset. The always want to "buy out" your appliance with product of less quality. A flaker ice machine is not equivalent to a cube ice machine. It's a scam. Can't send grievance and there is NO customer service.

Let’s just say my family and I have slept in 83+ degree temp since the end of June....it’s now SEPTEMBER AND WE ARE STILL IN THE HEAT! The contractor that was assigned to us does not return calls, does not come when he tells you and takes WEEKS to even attempt to fix or place a bandaid on the problem. I am so angry! Do not waste your money on this lousy company. 3 months without AC IN THE SUMMER is brutal. Especially with children!!!! 😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡

I Have been trying to get my ac fixed for 2 weeks now the contractor came out ordered part he said and never came back the company only has a phone number no one ever answered calked many times called Ahs and they are no help keep telling me the same thing i need my ac fixed i have a 6 month old unbelievable the runaround this has been i pay for a service i didn't receive

AC loosing refrigerate. Service call to Central Air gave an estimate of $450 for 6 pounds of R410A. Their cost is outrageous; 25 lbs on-line is $140. My issue with American Home Shield is that I've added refrigerant to this same unit twice in the last 2+ years. There's obviously a leak that can't be fixed. Since this can't be fixed, it should be replace via the terms of our contract.

AHS offers contract cancellation at any time, however, read the disclaimer on another page. An administration fee is attached to what they call early cancellation. This is explained in legal detail on the page paragraph L but the "anytime" cancellation policy is very misleading. It may lead you to believe it is a clean break from AHS due to dissatisfied service or reimbursement decisions on their part.

Everytime I call I am placed on hold and either the appliance dept is unavailable or I am placed on an extensive hold or disconnected. As I type I have been on hold over 45 minutes with no answer yet they take my money out every month. I have asked for a supervisor and no one is ever available. What am I paying for monthly if I cannot get service???

Don't do business with AHS. This company needs to be shut down by the federal government. They do absolutely nothing to reduce your costs. My central air went out and they wanted to charge me $2100 dollars for a coil and Freon. That's absolutely ridiculous. This company is running a predatory scam along with the so called contractors assigned to fix your issues.

Unbelievable! I just had a faulty leaking hose bibb replaced and they didn't install the hose bibb back flow preventer. It is code that this has to be done. I call American Homesheild and they tell me that it will be an additional fee for this to be code compliant. Wow the old one had one on it, and its code. Why wouldn't it be replaced to code? So does this mean they can send anyone and not do the work per code?

This company does not stand behind its committment. I have been without AC for more than a week now. I waste an hour with a representative each day saying the same things. The reps are unbelievably bad at their jobs. I am told every day that someone will call me to schedule an appointment tomorrow but i never get that call. What a scam of a company.

Our Central A/C system went out yesterday. The past three days has been in excess of 100* , and continuing for the next three or four days. After assessing the problem, they ordered a part, which may take three or four days to receive. The best AHS can do, offering $125 !!! That won't cover the cost for a portable A/C and maybe one night in a motel room !! They have no problem taking our money, but when it comes to the consumer..........they are a long way off!!! Of all the reviews they've had only 20% favorable reviews with 80% negative.

American home shield is the biggest scam ever, my air conditioner was not working on July 22 and I was told by this fly by night company in Houston’ Three brother ‘ when they showed up that my unit did not meet code which is ridiculous and laughable and then requested a different company they showed up and yet to hear from them. I had to pay out of pocket to fix my evaporated coil - Air team is the best AC company in Houston. AMERICAN HOME SHIELD IS FRAUD!!!!

I’ve been without a properly working AC Unit for 8 weeks. They have sent technicians out several times to make faulty repairs. Was without AC entirely for 7 days and they provided no hotel accommodations. Terrible company and terrible contractors. Don’t waste your time with them. Any time you call for help they connect you to someone in India or Pakistan who like to hang up on you.

Loyal customer 12+years - means nothing! My AC went out on 7/22. Couldn't get a technician until 7/29. Using the lowest bidders for service - Total Air Care didn't submit a diagnosis report until 8/6. There was an error in my out of pocket costs. The required gas for the compressor went from 6lbs to 10lbs to 9lbs.... horrible telephone hold times! My appointment is 8/19!

Maria finally reached out to us saying.. your check was ISSUED 8/8 and will take at least 7days. After 3mos they finally decided to issue a check. BUT Its not the amount that the customer service Rep promised , we’re getting $334.25 instead. SO what’s the point of paying more than $52/mo (624$/yr) if they will not cover anything? Might as well save your money right? LESS STRESS... its like you’re just giving them. FREE money. THIS COMPANY IS A JOKE .!

The first two issues we had with our brand new home, they do not cover. We called about an electrical issue, paid the $75 service fee, and scheduled an electrician. Electrician came out, was very knowledgable, but said it most likely wouldn't be covered. And no, it was not covered. So now, an issue that might have cost us originally $170-$200 to fix on our own will now end up costing us that plus the $75. Very frustrating, very unhelpful, very disappointed. Do not buy with this company.

Worthless service by inept technicians. I’ve been trying to get a working range since Mid May. This is now well into August and I’m no closer to resolution. Customer Service is awful. An average phone call is an hour. I actually had one girl on the phone that took 40 minutes before she understood I’ve already had an electrician to my house. Save yourself the trouble and headache just keep the money you would have spent for future home repairs.

Don't waste your time and money. I have 5 properties signed up with them and first time I needed a refrigerator fixed. I called the vendor that they assigned and they told me soonest they can come out was in one week. After they come the technician has no clue what is wrong and does not fix anything and leaves. for a leaking hose he puts aluminum tape around a tube and calls it a fix.

AWFUL!!!! And the companies they send out are a complete joke. Paid a $75 service fee for an issue that would have cost $5 for my husband to fix. The company sent out didn't even fix the issue!! Also, if you have the warranty, hopefully you have no issues that cause secondary damage because those aren't covered. SAVE YOUR MONEY AND DON'T EVEN BOTHER WITH AHS!!!

Atrocious customer service to the point where I have been unable to speak with someone after 8 or 9 attempts. I have had my pool electric serviced five times in one year, and now it is beyond repair with no coverage due to “beyond wear and tear” due to damage caused by a contractor they sent. Laughably terrible company. This organization is a scam and should not be in business.

WORST company I have ever worked with. Our stove has been broken since April (it's now August!) and after 5 trips to my home they have still not pushed through the paperwork to have it replaced as was recommended by two companies. We had a similar issue with another electric issue. They hire out cheap, horrible companies and there's a huge communication gap between them and AHS. I've had to spend hours on end to get anyone to do their job. If you hire this company and actually expect something fixed, you'll be putting in more hours working on resolving the issue than they ever will.

This company is a disaster! They only try to patch things over and I have had so much trouble getting them to take any action. We had a repair done, where we had to come out of pocket over $1,000, and the same exact part broke 66 days later. They refused to pay for the replacement, because it was 6 days past the 60 day warranty. Previously, it took them over 3 months to get the part and fix our broken stove. More trouble than it's worth!

30 days since hot water heater broke. Took over a week and multiple call for first company to look at heater. Two weeks later and many calls I’m told I’ll need to pay 300 dollars. Asked to see what I’m paying for in my contract and the phone rep states no access to e mail. Asked to speak to manager and sat on hold over an hour. Still no water heater. Reps are not helpful and hard to understand. I’ll be firing this company as soon as they fix the water heater. I may need to hire a lawyer to get that done...

I live in Texas. I have dealt with American Home Shield and the service providers they send since 2017 and it’s July 2019. I keep paying for one more call as I wait weeks to get the air conditioner fixed. It’s still broke! The only way I get anything done is calling someone on my own and paying out of pocket. We have been with AHS over 10 years, but Customer Service has become proressively worse. Our AC-Compressor running inefficiently, as diagnosed by technician, but AHS refuses to honor their contract due to 'unit is still running'. Spent countless hours on hold, but cannot get hold of USA person. This is worst company ever and we wasted lots of hard-earned money. We now pray this company is shut down soon.

been a customer for years recently water heater experience horriiiiiiiible, 11/2 I=on the phone supervisor will not answer the phone over 10 days to get a authorization will tell you they will call you back, in your dreams, never happens, had to take thing under my hands and solve my problem. They only created a bigger problem that I had. DO NOT GET THIS INSURANCE, really quit to get yuour money but not to solve your problems.

This is a rip off. I had to pay way out of pocket of $100 service fee and $610 on what AHS didn't pay. AHS paid $50 and I had to pay $710 and that’s not even counting my monthly service fees. And it took over a week to get my ac unit fixed with the contractors they use. It was a waste. Oh and by the way, the part was free bc it was still under warranty. Insane.

We have had AHS for 7 years had only 3 claims put in and 3 claims denied for various reasons that they chose. To give you an example our heater to our pool went out and they said they wouldn't fix it because it was due to the exposure outside hum heater to the pool where else would you put it in the laundry room. We finally had enough and canceled our contract now they want a cancellation fee. They can take it out of the 10,080 that we have given them and got nothing in return but excuses.

I do not recommend this company whatsoever! The companies that they refer you to to fix your appliances are so incredibly rude it’s u believable. Worst home insurance company ever!!!! I’ve been waiting for 3 weeks for their contractors to show up and fix my a/c. Two guys showed up but they don’t know how to get the work done. It’s been almost a month and I’m still having issues with my a/c and still waiting for their contractors to fix my problem! It’s sad that this company scams people’s money and nothing gets done!!! STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY PEOPLE YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!

Terrible experience. One claim (garbage disposal) went average. 4 months later, in an unrelated matter, called to ask 3 questions, got no help so I cancelled on the spot (April 14, 2019). Over 60 days later I still get calls and notifications being past due. When I tell them to look at their screen, they agree I'm not and apologize. I've documented all interactions and sending to their Corporate office and BBB.

After buying my house which included 1 free year of American Home Shield, I decided to stick with them as long as they provided a good value. After close to a year, I requested a service to check my HVAC and get a diagnostic that indicates an upgrade recommendation, the work order was closed like that. There were no help thru the phone either. Contract cancelled.

One more negative review. I requested cash out option 11 days ago. Today they let me know that my request most likely will be processed today. Sounds like after years of being loyal customer I have to find alternative solution on competitors side. Also they using contractor who will try to make extra $600 only for water line modification in order to install new the same water heater. Their equipment replacement option will not cover total cost of the heater and labor.

I thought have American Home Shield is to keep me from paying huge repair bill. I have been a customer for over ten years and everytime I call them to come out nothing gets fix right away. We called regarding my air conditioner on 6/4/2019 no one came out to look at it til the 7th of June. Now they are saying it is my compressor and I have to pay over 500.00 to get it fix. Beware American Home Shield do not like standing up to their contract when it come to fixing air conditioners. If I have to pay 500.00 why do I have American Home Shield?

My central AC went out in early May, I called AHS and the tech came out and just charged me for 2lbs of freon even though noticed a leak in the evap coil. June 3, the AC failed again. The techs came out on 6/8 and said the evap coil was leaking which let all my freon out. It's the 6/12 and I'm still waiting for AHS to deny or auth the repairs. From what I'm reading from other reviews from customers with my exact issue, I'm probably better off calling my own contractor because AHS will probably little to nothing.

One star only because I can't give them a zero. Shoddy repair network, I've spent hours on hold, over one month and counting to get a simple washing machine timer fixed - still not repaired. They rarely replace anything - you are better off just hiring your local guy and getting it fixed yourself. Don't fall for this -they oversell their plan, it's too good to be true and a total scam. My next stop is filing complaints with the Attorney General's office for deceptive trade practices.
