The company provides good timely service, this is good. The bad, they will always repair with minimal cost to them. Service companies they employ are not well versed on what is covered or not and will solicit more business outside of what is covered by AHS.

American needs to employ vendors that are trustworthy and professional. I have dealt with some horrible vendors coming into my home. One vendor tried to get money from me and did not do the work so I hired my own plummer and paid out of.my own pocket and american home shield would not refund my $100 hundred dollars deposit. I'm really considering ending my contract with them. I reported the vendor and nothing was done about it. Because I found out the same vendor was sent to one of my neighbors and the vendor again tried to get money from my neighbor. American home shield needs to really reevaluate the vendors that they use.

Earlier in the year I put in a claim for a refrigerator and your technician came to fix it three times but never got it repaired this was at a rental and although I explained to the technician and to customer service that I cannot have someone to repair the fridge and it works for a week or a couple of days , tenant needed her refrigerator fixed in a timely matter and not be inconvenience of a broken refrigerator .I replaced the refrigerator out of pocket

I am very disappointed with AHS. 80% of the Customer Service people are incompetent. Especially when you get people from India. They have no idea what they are talking about. They cannot help with anything. They cannot escalate any issue you bring up. On the other side the AHS itself is doing everything possible to get you pay out of pocket for your claim. Plumbing issues for example are almost impossible to be processed in your favor. If it is not something very simple that will cost them $100 top, it will not be covered. Example: A pipe within a wall, that has been there for 30 years, leaks. According to the "experts" they send you, this is due to: Company 1: Improper gluing. Company 2: Shifting of the foundation of the house. Of course, one of these are considered by AHS, as "Normal Wear and Tear". And we end up paying $1200 in repairs out of pocket. The companies that AHS works with are 99% of the time, with very poor ratings and unable to assess the situation. It is like they have a list of predefined causes for everything, and know this will not be covered by AHS and AHS will be happy and will hire them again. So far for 5 years we have never had a single case when one company will come once and fix the issue. It is always back and forward. Second opinions. Unnecessary repairs being done due to incorrect assessment. In summary, this is a ridiculous business.

Leak repair great!! Great plumber!!!! Sheetrock repair sucked, guy didn't have proper tools, always came 6-10 hours late. He was a hack. Nice guy but wrong job. does rough finish mean I have to sand and re-mud sheetrock before I paint? He ran out of joint tape but still continued? when I sand it down I might just re-due it, I don't want it cracking at the joints.

I fold a claim on February 23 and nothing has happened yet! I was first assigned to Conerlys Electric and never received a call from them. Next I was assigned Miracle Electric and after 2 days the guy came by at 5:15 did a work order and as of today I still haven’t heard anything back from them. I pay my monthly bill and send in the $100 service fee and as of this day I’m still writhing for the work order to be authorized. What is really going on!!!

The reason why not 5 star is because only 1 time . The technician said he couldn't get my washer to do what I said. It was the seal in my washing machine that was bad and leaking all over my laundry room. Never got fixed. It's still doing the same thing but I took photos of all the water and the code on the screen.

I give AHS 4 stars because of my most recent experience with their customer service. It was the worst that I have experienced in all of the years that I have been a customer of AHS. If it were not for the runaround they gave me for at least 2-3 weeks I would have given them a 5 as I have recommended them to various people.

I like the service I received for the DRYER. Don't like that the other item, WASHER wasn't repaired, regardless if the prior tenant (now deceased, had dementia/alheimers), tried to repair it. forthe amount charged forthe monthly service and the fee charged for a repairman. I believe it could have been replaced with another washerlesser plrice.

I like not having to locate repairmen myself, and service is usually quick and professional. The only bad experience was with one plumber who was grouchy and uncommunicative. Also, replacement appliances are not always of the same value as the ones replaced.

I have been very disappointed with the company called Appliance RX that home shield has sent to my home… It has been almost 3 months we have been without a cooktop and oven that works correctly. Appliance RX also said they fixed the refrigerator that is still broken. I’ve tried calling them to no avail finally got a hold of them and they have canceled on me three times after taking vacation each day. I have tried talking to home shield about these people. They are not a good company. If you want to know the whole story, give me a call.

I’m very unhappy with my recent service request. The plumbing company they sent gave me the “run around” and gave incorrect info to AHS and said negative things about AHS to me when I confronted them. Then I spoke to AHS and they promised to have the repair done and then promptly reversed their position one day later when the tech was supposed to come. The AHS rep obviously promised me something they could not deliver and then reversed what they said. I’m an unhappy customer, not because they did not fix the problem but because because of the unprofessional way I have been handled by AMS and the company they sent out to look at my repair issue.

My last repair for a water heater was misdiagnosed. Wind Bender Mechanical came back and realized the leak wasn’t from my water heater. They then charged me for “wiring replacement “ which was 2 new wire nuts for 168.00. They also tried to charge me for the permit fee for the tank. They will never step foot in my house again. All previous repairs have been great.

i fell that the last two events at our home were not handled the way the company has done business in the past. allowing a company to come several times and not get it right and replace the item in question. the last event, the ac replacement, they forgot to repair the heater and not even leave the old one. The company was aware , but did not let us know. very poor communication between AHA and the client.

I liked having AHS select & connect me with reliable local service providers. I did NOT like delays in getting repairs scheduled, especially with a critical appliance. I also did not like having repairs denied because “if it’s not broke, we don’t fix it” when something was clearly not working correctly. I would add a request: PLEASE require vendors to provide a LEGIBLE document to homeowner after a service appointment. The document must clearly state what service was performed, what parts were replaced, and what products were applied/ replaced/refilled. If service was denied, the reasons must be clearly explained on the document. We should not have to sign something we cannot read, nor should verbal communication be acceptable. An example: bathroom sink fixtures leaking at base. Repairman said he would have to do a computer search back at his office for the right specifications for the replacement faucets. He said he would let me know what he was able to find. When I later followed up on this order, the office staff informed me he had written that the customer could not demonstrate the leak for him - on the BACK of the original service invoice!! Since this was a multiple page form, I had no record of his notes on my copy. And so no repair was completed.

The monthly fee is reasonable and the technicians are knowledgeable. In particular, I was impressed by the fact that the refrigerator repair tech knew a good deal about my Kenmore even though it was an older model.

There are a few times that American Home Shield met their commitment. Most of those happened many years ago. They will rarely fix things that they will take a loss on. By the time you pay your deductible and add a months payment, you will probably break even. The people they contract know exactly how much home shield will pay, so they charge exactly that. Over the past six years, my $600 dishwasher has probably cost $3000 in repairs. The $100 deductible I paid each time would have bought me a new one. Like all insurance, they are betting that you will pay out more than the insurance company does. In there case, they will ensure that you do. You are actually paying everyone else’s salaries and taking a loss on your investment. Oh well, things have really gone downhill in the past year, so I guess you have to do whatever it takes to keep a business from going under.

Simply put if you have simple problems it will get fixed. Just not in a timely manner. My sewer was backed up toilet over flowing causing water damage in the basement. American did set an appointment with a plumber but they couldn’t come out for days. I call a different company they had a plumber there in an hour. This is not the only time this has happened. My family has lived without Air conditioning for a week or more waiting on their people to come fix it. Overall if it’s not an emergency it’s fine it will get fixed on their time.

They wanted us to accept a GE washer in place of our Maytag when our Maytag cost more to repair than replace. They send techs from outside my area & city re plumbing issues, who then say we have to pay much more $$$ extra b/c they don't cover plumber getting up on top of house to unstop plumbing stoppage. They give you the run around after approving your personal plumber, then ask him questions he usually doesn't deal with, such as itemizing each pipe, its length & individual cost, just to name a few, before approving replacement estimate, so my licensed 30+ yr plumber quits. Then forget to send the 3rd plumber for a 2d opinion & scope plumbing under my house like they agreed to do. I guess I should be grateful they sent plumber out to provide 2d opinion after I called them almost 2 months later to remind them without having to pay another $75 fee. I'm not very impressed with American Home Shield.

While good with setting up appointments, you take way too long to decide on fix or replace issues. Case in point it took 2 separate appointments to figure out why my fridge was malfunctioning. In the meantime I am throwing out a lot of expensive food. According to my last service company, the repair was going to be very expensive and time consuming. I have already lost 2 days pay having to be home. My food loss will approach $500. Since I still have not heard from AHS, last night I had to buy a new fridge before I had to lose all my refrigerated goods. I was told I will receive no compensation for doing this. However, the fridge I bought was going to go off same 3/1, increasing by $900. For things like life sustaining repairs, like furnaces in winter or refrigeration units for food, meds, drugs, you are not prepared to respond quickly enough.

The only thing I do not like is that when you have a machine that is 23 years old and it keeps breaking down and they come and basically put a band aid on it So far they have come out twice within 3 months for the same problem. Overall I had good experience with AHS and that is why I opted 4 star. However, quality of HVAC vendors in middle TN is not consistent. Most lack follow up, have people problems or don’t update even your ticket has been open for close to 3 weeks. I am waiting on a part for last two weeks and my call to the HVAC company was not returned.

This will be the 3rd major repair to this refrigerator. 2nd time I have had to throw out ALL OF THE CONTENTS that were bad. $600 in frozen foods and $250 in spoiled refrigerated items. Last November 2022 it was was $1200 in frozen food and $200 of refrigerated non frozen items. Apparently, this refrigerator is becoming a very NON RELIABLE appliance. I got AHS so I wouldn't have to go thru this and I contracted your top plan. Now, I wait for you to get a repairman to call me about coming out to examine the refrigerator and tell me it needs a new compressor which PASSION Services reported but they don't due compressor repairs. Then when he tells me the same thing Passion told me, if he thinks he can repair it, that will take how long? Who knows. Is the refrigerator even worth spending the big bucks on the cost of a compressor repair or cheaper to replace it? I am now WITHOUT A REFRIGERATOR, don't know when I will have one working again, and lost the entire contents of that refrigerator AGAIN. THIS IS AN ESSENTIAL APPLIANCE, not like a garbage disposal or ceiling fan,. Thank goodness I don't have a family to feed, how would you like starving them? I thought AHS was better than this, I AM NOT A HAPPY CUSTOMER right now.

I have had to use AHS a bit. They are a safety net for a retired couple. When things go wrong, they are handled quickly, with the proper trades persons, and generally with speed.

Overall happy with the service. Vendors need to be able to provide service on weekends; most people work during the business day Monday-Friday and can't take off. For the last few request, I've had I have to find someone to come to my home because the vendors don't work on Saturday. For the service industry that is not a good thing. I had no heat on Saturday morning and had to wait until someone could come out the next week. That is the only reason I gave AHS 3 stars

American Home Shield is great at quickly dispatching service providers for a variety of home repairs! I’ve been satisfied with about 90% of the service providers. One aspect I feel could be better is recognizing when it is costing more to repeatedly repair an appliance than replacing it.

I used AHS for over 7 years. I left them over a denied claim. I was first told the claim was denied because my policy did not cover replacing a pressure regulator. I had to point out the specific language in the policy to the call center agent to show it was covered. I was then told it was denied because it was not the right size for the house, although it appeared to be the original pressure regulator on an 18 year old house. I did confirm with the plumber, that AHS sent, that he told the AHS it was "going bad" and needed to be replaced. He stated to me it was sized correctly. Given the conflicting reasons for the denial and AHS not doing the right thing to approve a roughly $450 claim when I was paying close to $1,200 a year for the coverage, I terminated the relationship.

Service is quick on both part but if I have to pay 75.00 upfront to service my work order and paying the monthly payments on AHS. I don’t understand why I have to pay extra to the company to get my water heater replaced. Service should have been paid by AHS for their service not the customer.

It takes too long to complete the service. One appt to assess and then time to approve and then time to get the job done. In my situation, the first assigned contractor called in sick which would have extended the time with that company 1 week. I asked for a different company. The company contacted AHS but when AHS quickly notified me that another company was given the assignment, I called that company. They did not receive the work order. I went to AHS and asked them to resend, and still the company did not receive the work order. I called AHS again and explained that I would lose my place in line for the work order to be completed if the company did not receive the work order IMMEDIATELY. After 15 min. the company called me and said they finally got the order. The contractor fixed the clogged drain the next day instead of doing the usual estimate and then waiting for approval and scheduling an appt. to repair. I am very appreciated that he was willing to do that. AHS takes way too long getting things done that could be done simply.
