Contractors assigned to a job are often the worst reviewed contractors in the area. I've been waiting a month for my dishwasher to be fixed. All the reviews on the company's website blame AHS for assigning them that company.

I had to contractors come to my home. One performed very well the other contractor is however coming back for a third time to get the refrigerator fixed. The appliance contractor I have not even received an email yet about these appointments I've only received phone calls and why is it taking three times

Extremely Disappointed with Service - A Health Hazard for My Family I am beyond frustrated with the way my case has been handled by this company. Our AC broke down on March 25, and the compressor needs to be replaced. Despite repeated calls to customer service, we have received no clear answers or urgency. I explained multiple times that we have a baby in the house and the indoor temperature is reaching 83°F, making it unbearable and unsafe. On March 28, we were told that the necessary parts would not arrive until April 8—over two weeks from the date of the breakdown. This is completely unacceptable! Living in Las Vegas, the extreme heat is a serious health concern, and I’m deeply worried about the well-being of my baby, who could be at risk of serious health issues. Yet, all we’ve been told is to "wait." The lack of urgency or even basic concern for our safety is incredibly disappointing. This is not the service I signed up for, and I will not be renewing my contract. I strongly advise others to think twice before signing up with this company. If you value your family’s safety and well-being, look elsewhere.

Top quality contractors assigned to do the repairs and they get the job done fast. Little bit costly with the service charge you have to pay on top of monthly fees but well worth it for the peace of mind.

Very disappointed in this company. First time I called them for an HVAC repair, it turned out they don't cover my repairs, so I paid their guy $550 out of pocket to charge the system. I would rather have found my own HVAC technician because that was way too expensive. Second time I had to call AHS for my fridge, it took their guy 8 days to get to my house. He then showed me the fridge and explained that it's a sealed system that is not meant to be serviced. It took AHS another 72 hours to process his report.... at which point AHS told me that the system was serviceable but was missing a part, so it was outside of my warranty. Then they told me that, for another $45, the part could be installed and the fridge could be fixed. I told them that, yes, of course I want to spend $45 to fix my fridge. They never sent the technician. So I called again, got the same lecture, and was told a technician would come out for $45. Once again, nobody followed up. So I called a third time. This time, AHS told me that I was outside of the warranty, so the HVAC company would not come out and would not install a port... but that I could pay AHS another $100 for a second opinion. At this point, I've been without a fridge for 3 weeks, and it's already been diagnosed as a sealed system that has no port for charging. This is clearly just a scam meant to make me go away so that AHS doesn't have to replace my broken fridge.

AHS American Home Shield aka Frontdoor Name is confusing, isn’t it? But that’s not the only thing… I have been with the Shield for more than 2 years, used the service multiple times and I have some serious comments/information for those who want to know. For all your in-home repairs, the company pulls from their pool of contractors and assigns them to you. You have no choice in the matter. Their selection is based on those firms who have plenty of availability. Who has plenty open slots? Those companies with a low number of appointments. Why do they have few commitments? Because they are not that good, not that professional… and that is the service you end up with - companies with low review ratings. Repair parts are ordered through the AHS system. The parts will be same (or lesser) quality. There is never an upgrade in this process. Especially true for HVAC parts. If you think AHS will replace your entire system, forget it! They will only replace the part that is broken. The parts are ordered and the wait will start…with you in the heat (or in the cold) in the meantime. I just canceled my contract since I could not see the value of it. Since you cannot cancel your contract online you need to call the customer service phone number. This painstaking action took 45 minutes. First you talk to the first line of customer service agent (billing) where the agent will try to keep you as a customer by promising you one month a free service. When not agreeing, the call is transferred to member resolution where you are confronted with same questions and speels. Here I would get two months of free service - go figure. When I finally could get to a cancellation agreement, I was immediately charged a $9.45 cancellation fee. That fee is nowhere mentioned in the contract. Should I sue for that? Of course not. I am just relieved that from now on I will avoid the useless recurring monthly fees. AHS is out the Backdoor…

Overall, the price is too high. I pay a monthly fee and I have to pay an additional $125 dispatch fee. Also, when the technicians come, 50% of the time they find things they say are not covered and I have to pay an additional fee for them to fix.

I have gotten many items repaired or replaced over the years. Most all the people came on time and did a great job. There was one company that did a terrible job and should not be used by AHS. Each year however fewer things are covered and more fine print is added to the contract.

I have several contracts (different properties) with AHS. Requesting service online through my account is easy to use. However, I cannot see online what is needed whenever there is a follow up, such as authorizing some part or service no covered, I have to call the contractor or you to find out the next step. Sometimes I am told that you have not receive the contractor report. It would be nice to be able to see the entire status online. I've gone through the dashboard and everything else to see if I can get a status but don't see how.

I like the ease of doing a request for service and that the service is usually pretty fast - in the summer it may take 2-3 days for AC service, but that is to be expected. The service we receive has also been quite good overall.

I was given and estimate by the company they assigned that would have cost me $1905 out of pocket just for freon and a fitting labor, and AHS did not give me the amount they were paying for the parts. I had someone else look at the system and got an estimate of $1500 for the parts, labor, and freon. I had to wait 3 weeks for AHS to agree to cash me out. They gave me $920 for the parts and I paid $580 for the labor and freon. Therefore, I paid $580 for my guy to fix what their guy would have charged me $1905 for. Not being able to consult my own choice is very frustrating and would have cost me more than I paid for the warranty in unnecessary costs. That makes me want to cancel my policy!

Liked: Quick dispatch and persistence. Dislike: Some of the contractors were difficult to schedule and others provided poor quality work, resulting in either recurring problems (refrigerator, toilet), or having to repeat the work after the work warranty expired (garage door)
