I have gotten many items repaired or replaced over the years. Most all the people came on time and did a great job. There was one company that did a terrible job and should not be used by AHS. Each year however fewer things are covered and more fine print is added to the contract.

AHS has improved their service, getting appointments with technicians quickly and following up when there are delays with the repairs. Now they need to bring their customer service back to the USA from the Philippines. It sucks. We cant understand them and they have little ability to fix the issues. Use Americans!!!

I have several contracts (different properties) with AHS. Requesting service online through my account is easy to use. However, I cannot see online what is needed whenever there is a follow up, such as authorizing some part or service no covered, I have to call the contractor or you to find out the next step. Sometimes I am told that you have not receive the contractor report. It would be nice to be able to see the entire status online. I've gone through the dashboard and everything else to see if I can get a status but don't see how.

I like the ease of doing a request for service and that the service is usually pretty fast - in the summer it may take 2-3 days for AC service, but that is to be expected. The service we receive has also been quite good overall.

I feel AHS made this more difficult than it had to be. I was given and estimate by the company they assigned that would have cost me $1905 out of pocket just for freon and a fitting labor, and AHS did not give me the amount they were paying for the parts. I had someone else look at the system and got an estimate of $1500 for the parts, labor, and freon. I had to wait 3 weeks for AHS to agree to cash me out. They gave me $920 for the parts and I paid $580 for the labor and freon. Therefore, I paid $580 for my guy to fix what their guy would have charged me $1905 for. Not being able to consult my own choice is very frustrating and would have cost me more than I paid for the warranty in unnecessary costs. That makes me want to cancel my policy!

Liked: Quick dispatch and persistence. Dislike: Some of the contractors were difficult to schedule and others provided poor quality work, resulting in either recurring problems (refrigerator, toilet), or having to repeat the work after the work warranty expired (garage door)

The service, when I need it is always scheduled quickly and performed promptly by professional tradesmen who do excellent work. I have had only 4-5 calls over a span of four years, most of them minor issues that just needed the professional touch to resolve. However, the price of the annual contract is spiraling out of control - up 72% over the four years that I have been a customer. I don't know if I can afford to renew this year.

The things that I really needed them to cover, they don’t. If I have to pay out of pocket, I could just save the money I pay them and use that. I pay a fee and a service fee, that’s quite a bit and it keeps going up. I’m contemplating if it’s worth it.

The customer service leaves a lot to be desired. The agents are very polite but cannot solve issues that are complex. There is no escalation path and neither can u contact them by email to register a complaint. This is very frustrating. Additionally, their service providers do not work on weekends. So if the water heater dies on a Friday evening you will have no fix till the following week.

I've liked American Home Shield until my recent incident for air conditioning service. The company May Heating and Air was from out of town. The guy came the first time, and we thought the problem was fixed. He then waited a week to come back. He never reported his diagnostic to American Home Shield until I called May Heating and Air a week later. Then his diagnostic was not correct. I had to get another company in my hometown to fix it. May Heating and Air wasted 3 weeks of my time, and never fixed the problem. The other company fixed it the same day that I called, and I paid out of pocket. So, my issue with American Home Shield is that I have to wait too long to receive an appointment from an out of town company, who have no interest in fixing my problem. I am planning to cancel my account with American Home Shield soon.

At first I had great experience with this company. Then I had an A/C problem and that's when things went down hill. I filed a claim tech came out "fixed" the unit the the unit was "not fixed". They came out on 7 to 8 other occasions and the unit was still not fixed even after I was made to spend over $800 and it did not fix the unit. Wasted my money and they said there was nothing they could do about it. Till this day American Home Sheild did not fix my unit but yet they take my money.

AHS customer service is top notch and warrants 5 stars. However my experience with recommended contractors would be 1star. On two occasions contractors failed to schedule nor return calls. Totally unacceptable. It’s been 3 weeks since I filed a claim and I’m crossing my fingers that a contractor will show tomorrow as scheduled

I submitted a request to fix my air conditioning and was assigned a contractor that I was unable to use due to them not performing work after 4pm on weekdays or on weekends. When I called AHS to request a new contractor I was told that I would be assigned one within 24 hours. I waited almost 72 hours and had heard nothing and my account online had not been updated with a new contractor. I called back and was told that AHS had to still call and verify the current contractor could not do the hours I need and that would take another 24 hours or so to get a new one assigned. I am not sure what happened but it sounds like the ball was dropped and this was not done the first time I called. I questioned it and the gentleman just kept saying I have to call them. I was questioning why it wasn't done before and what was going on. I was now already a week without air conditioning. He didn't have an answer and kept saying I have to call the contractor to verify. I did become very frustrated as I wondered why it wasn't already done. It was now Friday I knew I would have to wait until the next week now to get someone to my home, assuming I got a new contractor that day. I understand people make mistakes and someone dropped the ball. But this was very frustrating and I wasn't getting any answers. I was very agitated at this point and was hung up on by your representative. But within 10 minutes a new contractor was assigned. This is not the first time the customer service or AHS service was not great. But it was the worst time.

There was a price increase and a reduction of coverage that concerned me. Was not given much notice if any, I don't remember, but overall their service has been good. I have received top quality service except for one incident which was corrected without additional cost. Communication regarding service requests and issues has been good.

The service call is a bit pricey, but they paid 100% of repairs/replacements. I had to pay for earthquake straps to bring my water heater to code. That part was not covered, but they replaced the water heater. They also chose good companies.

Just had a plumber go to the home needed service. When report came in of covering a leak on piping, they came back saying only a portion of work would be covered and we would be responsible for the remaining payment, which was quite a bit. I felt that more should had been covered for the pipe leak than what was offered.

I loved American Home Shield, but they have let me down. I set up a repair call on Mar. 29. Sears is the contractor, and they sent A & E Factory Service on Apr. 5th, and they had to order a part. It came here several days later. An appt. was set for Apr. 28 to install the part. I received a text at 1:59 pm that my appt. was rescheduled for May 10. I received a text on May 10 that my appt is rescheduled for May 19. I called AHS and complained. Why can't they send someone else to repair my washer? Because A&E ordered a part, they are the ones to fix it. Meanwhile, I still need my washer repaired---Mar 29th to now May 19th.

The service from the assigned workers is great. I do think that there needs to be a way to differentiate more urgent matters over others. For example when our hot water heater went out, it took a little over a week to get it replaced. In my opinion they should prioritize fixes such as these.

These comments are directed at Ambient Air, Dispatch # 215822988. My AC quit working on Easter, 9th of Apr 2023. They showed up a couple of days later which was great. The issue was a Control Board that when bad and they would have to order it. Well, it took 2 weeks to get the part (In this day and age, that is ridiculous). Once they showed back up turns out that the Control Board didn't work. and they would have to order another one. In the meantime, the technician said he could re-wire the system so at least the AC would work (something the first guy didn't do) and then he pulled the new thermostat that the first guy had installed (why I don't know) and re-installed my Nest Thermostat. So, you guess it, 2 weeks later I had not heard from Ambient Air so I called them to see where we were at. They were really surprised and ask what was left to do. They were under the impression that the work order was closed. I told them I was still waiting on the Control Board. Eventually the issue was figured out and they finally came out and fixed it. So, the work order finally closed on 9 May 2023. So, 4 weeks... a little bit long
