We did get a furnace installed, when ours went out. Cost to us was $1300. + the inspection fees of $250.00. Our thought was that AHS would pay to replace our furnace! We did not expect to pay more than the $100.00 fee that we pay upfront for service. We had a locksmith come out to rekey our house, on a special with AHS. He charged us and additional $58.00 for additional locks. We only have 5. . .Then we had to call him back, because one door did not lock. We were charged another $55.00. . .to correct this issue. All of these charges on too of $100.00 charged upfront. Then we had our stove top checked, because it is scratched and has burned on foods, that cannot be removed. Another $100.00 up front and nothing was replaced or repaired?! We also are paying $80.00 a month for this warranty insurance. We are nor sure that we are getting our money's worth?? Rather annoyed at this moment! Feeling overcharged and under satisfied!

"I have been a customer of American Home Shield for several years and overall, I am very pleased with the service I have received. The process of filing a claim and scheduling repairs is seamless and their customer service team is always helpful in answering any questions I have. The technicians they send out to fix any issues are professional and do quality work. I appreciate the peace of mind that comes with having a home warranty and knowing that I can count on American Home Shield to take care of any unexpected repairs. The only downside is that the cost of the service plan is a bit high but I feel it worth it for the reliability and coverage they provide."

Great company. I had a problem wit my dryer and they immediately set up an appointment for me for within 4 days. The company on their list came out and literally, took my dryer apart, vacuumed out the entire inside and put it back together. It heats properly and runs like a dream.

This company is not trustworthy. AHS will send people out yes and they will get the job done. However, when it comes time to renew be very careful! I saw an ad on Instagram that gave $125 off, I went in and filled out the form. For the platinum level with a $100 service call fee was supposed to be $99.99 dollars a month. Then if you go to AHS website and try to find a plan. The monthly fee for the platinum plan is $109.99 with a $100 service call fee. I called AHS because I wanted to renew and ask for the $125 dollars off. They said they could do that but said before the discount it would be $120 a month, then after it would be $110 a month. That isn't a discount if I can get the same price through AHS website. How hard is it to be honest with people and not trick them with wording or prices.

I like the safety net of having this insurance for high price items in the house. Peace of mind, that it’s there. We usually use AHS about twice a year on various appliances or systems. Most is good. Sometimes I feel that they need other companies to subcontract. The only draw back is the reply time to get an item repaired. Not sure if that is their problem.

The support for the HVAC system was fantastic ! ! ! But, I still need some help from a system-wide plumber. I have found that we have a HIGH water pressure system. I have tried to turn down the water valve to reduce the pressure, but I did not succeed. I have several faucets that have leaking issues. I have a toilet to sewer line that drips into the basement, and other issues as well. Please help me find a plumber under our warranty coverage.

They did resolve the issue but quite a few of the people you speak with are difficult to understand as English is not their first language. When I asked to speak to someone else the representative told me to call back rather than transfer me. He also could not explain exactly why a fee was being charged except that it was a government code. Communication is everything!

Fast customer service; polite and professional. My AC broke, service was quickly dispatched and unit was repaired within 36 hours. One draw back is that labor and parts warranty are just 30 days!! My Ice Maker broke twice in 7 weeks and had to pay twice for service and parts had to be replaced again! Parts and service should be warranted for 90 days . Still, peace of mind knowing you are protected, and live customer service answering the phone.

My experience with the various contractors they use has been excellent. As long as you don't mind waiting a couple of days (which is the case even when dealing directly with the contractor) they are consistent, reliable, and the contractors they use fully understand the expectations.

Mixed bag. One claim was done well. I called, they sent a guy, he fixed it, case closed. Meanwhile, I was told I had to find an A/C person myself to do the annual checkup. The bizarre thing is the guy they sent for the other claim (plumbing) primarily does HVAC for them, and they told me they didn't have any people in the area. Very tough to understand.

Run do not deal with this company. I called to cancel the contract and the telemarketer tries to get you to not cancel. I told them I am cancelling the contract and 3 days later, another payment is charged. Dispute filed with the bank and official complaint is filed with Florida consumer affairs.

American Home Shield provides a valuable service for home buyers. I highly recommend this service to buyers, especially when the home is older and not covered by a builders' warranty. Do be prepared that there is a monthly payment for services, as well as an additional payment for any needed professional repair. But the fees may be considerably less than the repair would be otherwise. As a real estate professional, I have written in American Home Shield to most of my transactions over the years. Highly recommended.

When I tried turn my heat on to make sure it worked, it wouldn't turn on. It was easy to make a service request, and the tech that came to my house was knowledgeable and got my heat working quickly!

Best investment for our home we have ever spent. When our faucet kept leaking we called American Home Shield and paid our schedule small fee for service per our contract. They had someone at our home the next morning and the leaky faucet repaired within minutes. Saved us a lot of money.

EDIT: See below for the resolution, and the reason for a change in rating from 1-star to 3-star rating. ___________________________________________ In terms of "good," I believe American home shield does a lot of it. They provide an affordable means of protecting your home in the event of really anything going wrong. And then, there's everything else. I've never done this, but I have to publicly complain about the way AHS handled a service request. On June 20, our A/C goes out, and I submit a service request online. It's a Sunday, so I'm not expecting to hear back from a contractor that day. I don't hear from anyone the next day either, so I check my account and notice that now I'm meant to reach out myself. That's fine, and I do. The contractor will not take any "online jobs" right now because his schedule's full. That's annoying but fine. I call AHS to get a new contractor, and I'm told that if the assigned contractor can't be contacted within 48 hours then the job will get reassigned. Okay. 2 more days without A/C is deeply frustrating but it isn't the worst. I wait exactly 2 days and give AHS a call back. As it turns out, now they meant 48 BUSINESS hours (you know. 8 working days?) from the time of the original assignment. I submitted on Sunday and couldn't even get a new contractor until the NEXT Wednesday. I do the math, call at 48 hours and 1 minute and get a new contractor right away. The new company is responsive, they schedule a visit as soon as possible and everything's looking up after spending a week-and-a-half without AC in the middle of summer. Appointment goes as expected, technician does a very detailed inspection and gives a recommendation for a new A/C unit. That... that sucks, but that's why I have AHS! They tell me they'll submit the work order, and then AHS has to decide if they want to order the parts themselves, or just leave it all up to the contractor. Unfortunately, AHS decided to order the parts. Two days more and the order is finally approved, 5 more days for shipping, a funeral in the family of my new contractor (family company), and finally, after 37 days we're scheduled to have the unit installed. One small caveat, my installers are missing a part. Yes, as far as the paperwork shows, AHS never sent a coil for the new unit, so installation can't be completed. Naturally, I call AHS (for what I hope will be the final time), the agent I spoke with said the part hadn't even been APPROVED, let alone ordered or shipped. I ask her, "If my contractor can find the part and I buy it, will I get reimbursed?" in no uncertain terms. I don't know if she was high or just tired of me on the phone, but she told me "yes" in no uncertain terms. I tell the contractor to try and find the part, they do, and I GLADLY pay them to get it, expecting a reimbursement. Well, when I tried to call Billing, I was told simply that I should never pay a technician and the agent I spoke to had no right telling me I'd get reimbursed. I don't care. I was told three times I'd get my money back, and now I'm asking if I should expect a check, or if they'd just credit it back to my account on file. Neither were the case, obviously, or else I wouldn't be writing this review. I'm now sat here in October trying to solve the same problem they created in July. They make it impossible to escalate any calls you make, so you just have to HOPE that you get an agent who cares enough to even attempt to help, but they're absolutely PROS at stringing you along and taking you for a ride when you ask about the reimbursement you were promised. I've been told that they need to complete an internal investigation, that I should see development in two days, but miraculously, none of these statements ever make it through to my file, so I'm left repeating myself every other week to a new agent about what SHOULD be an easy solution. It doesn't matter if she was wrong, a representative of AHS told me I'd get reimbursed, I should be reimbursed. Somehow! Someway! Hell, pay the contractor and they'll reimburse me my check. It doesn't have to be hard, but AHS is going out of their way to make sure I rescind every recommendation I've given to new homeowners. If 37 days without air conditioning in a month with a 98-degree average high, and then holding $500 hostage from a customer sounds like anything other than a 1-star review, then I'm sorry for the world you live in. Terrible job, AHS. ___________________________________________ EDIT: It appears that a public complaint is the most effective means of getting AHS to take action, don't place your bets on calling and talking to representative in the service or billing departments. The kind woman I worked with, Alisa, was quick to respond after my initial post, and quick to investigate the issues. As I thought, it WAS easy to resolve (not that I'm not appreciate of her efforts)! It took two phone calls and four emails, and then I had a check in the mail. Almost as if this never needed to be an issue in the first place. I am honestly relieved to edit my review, but I'm left with a number of questions. 1) Why did AHS only actively respond after seeing a public complaint? 2) Why did this demonstrably simply issue ever escalate to this level? I believe the answers are somewhat self-explanatory. I'm disheartened by the entire situation. While I'm pleased that the situation was resolved, it was neither a convenient not simple resolution. AHS, for all the good it does, still shows an astonishing lack of concern for its customers. I'm immensely pleased with the steps that Alisa took to solve the problem, and the pace at which she was able to take them, but there never should've been a problem in the first place. Elevated from 1 star to 3.

I was on the phone with your agent, PJ for about 30 min. today(9/14)Not sure if your agents are working at home, but throughout the call there was a loud rooster that would make noise at least every 30 seconds. Also the agent kept asking me the same question of why I was calling over and over. Such as is there a leak? I said no. Then she would type some things into the computer and about a min. later ask me the exact same thing. No, there is NO LEAK. After so much back and forth she finally answered me correctly. There is a phone survey I was supposed to complete after speaking with my agent. I kept waiting for it to begin, but it never did. The agent kept saying over and over for me to hang up. I said to her, if I hang up I will not get the survey. Her answer every time was hang up. That's not an answer. After going back and forth at least 4 times, I just hung up. Which of course there was NO survey. I called back and spoke with a different agent, telling him I just want to complete the survey. He kept repeating over and over since I hung up, the survey is no longer available. Yet the other agent kept telling me to do so. The second agent, I think his name was Jason, was not helpful either. I also didn't see a place on the site to leave a review, so hopefully someone will see it here. I sent an email and left a review on facebook.

When I purchased my house, the seller provided a 2 year home warranty by American Home Shield. The refrigerator had an issue several months after I moved in, so I called American Home Shield. They sent someone out quickly without any hassles. The person was professional and knowledgeable and the problem was fixed.

Very easy to deal with. I've used American Home Shield for 4 years now on two different homes. I've had probably half a dozen issues over the years and each time, they've sent someone who is competent, professional and resolved the issue in a timely manner. I consider it money well spent to have a Home Warranty with them.

I had a small leak coming from my hot water heater. The tank was 23 years old so I didn't know if it would be covered. It was! All I paid was the $100 fee for them to come out initially and $288 for water and gas line modifications. The new tank, labor to install and haul-away of the old tank was covered. Thank you, American Home Shield!

Once I was able to get through and talk to the right people, everything went fine. Problems with cooktop and a refrigerator, and they were both fixed at the appt time reserved. No problems with the repairs or the technician sent to fix the problems.

I love AHS! I love the security and lack of worry I enjoy knowing my appliances and heat pump are covered. I've been in this house 14 years so many things have been breaking. Contacted AHS regarding my non-functioning ice-maker. They connected me with an appliance repair company. The repairman showed up on time and fixed the problem promptly. He was cordial, knowledgeable, and very professional.

The day that I put in for a repair home shield was on top of it.they had me a contractor the same day i put in the repair order. The contractor called and told me what time he was coming over and he was right on time. The problem was fixed and he even gave me pointers how to prevent some of the problems. Thank you home shield

I feel that because of the cost of appliances today, every home should have an home warranty plan. I have been with American Home Shield for a number of years and I highly recommend them. Over the years they've either solved my repair problems, or replaced them with no problems.

The year 2020 just will not stop giving. Our dish washer went out this spring, followed by our water heater just this week. Both were covered under our AHS policy. The claims procedure was simply handled on-line and both units were replaced to our satisfaction. We are very thankful that we have an AHS policy.

Our water heater was under factory parts warranty; however, the manufacturer didn’t want to stand behind their warranty. They kept trying to blame our gas pressure for the issues despite multiple plumbers stating the water heater was not working properly. AHS stepped up and replaced the water heater, and we couldn’t be more thankful.
