AHS insisted on sending a plumbing company that I have never been happy with!! Had a problem with a leak and it took about 3 weeks to get approved for another plumbing company to fix our problem! AHS never answered the plumbing company I got to fix our problem so now they won’t pay what I paid the plumbing company!

It took 83 days to get a pool heater replaced. I had 2 different opinions by 2 different contractors. The first a contractor send by AHS after weeks of waiting for it to be assigned. Then my own contractor after I had been given outside authorization. Then I waited weeks for AHS to get a third opinion which ironically is the same as the other two.

This company is pathetic. I feel they should refund every single cent I've paid them. I filed my first and only claim with them on 6/5. As of 7/30, they still haven't gotten someone to fix my roof. On 6/11, they sent me a satisfaction survey for the work that still hasn't been done.

I’m having a real challenge here with a fraudulent report by a vendor. I don’t know if AHS is also involved in the fraudulent claim denial, at first, and now reversed, or if they simply sided with the fraudulent service provider against me, causing damage to my home. Neither is a great scenario.

If could give zero stars I would. The contractors this company assigned are the worst. It has taken 4 months to get my washer fixed. Nothing but a scam I have spent hundreds getting my families clothes cleaned because I can't do it at my own home. Don't waste your money on this company.

• On 6/16/24, my freezer stopped working. I immediately submitted a claim with American Home Shield (AHS). Note that as of today, 66 days later, it still does NOT WORK!!! Not only does the freezer not work, NOW as of 8 days ago, my Fridge does NOT WORK! Both are at room temperature. My family and I have no way to store any perishable food, are forced to eat out and have thrown away hundreds of dollars of food that has spoiled. • About 7 days after the first claim was filed on 6/16, AHS hired a company called ADA to come out. At that appointment, the ADA tech said that the compressor is likely dead as there is likely a freon leak and told me that ADA will NOT WORK on my unit and not to mention this to AHS. I do not know why he said don’t tell AHS and honestly I don’t care. • It then took an additional 2 weeks for AHS to get second company out. At that appointment, Alpha (the 2nd company) said they could work on it and would order parts. I immediately called AHS and they told me that yes Alpha’s request for parts / labor to fix my fridge was approved and that I should call Alpha to find out an estimate for a date that the parts would be in. I called AHS to reconfirm because I was concerned that the same thing would happen with Alpha as it did with ADA. IT DID. • On August 10, I spoke with Alpha. They told me to call them on August 19 as that’s the likely first date the parts would come in and then we would schedule a repair date finally. • On August 12, unbeknownst to me, AHS CANCELLED Alpha (likely because they didn’t want to pay). I WAS NEVER INFORMED OF THIS and so from August 10-19 while my Fridge was starting to fail, NOTHING was done. AHS didn’t attempt to find another company to come out NOR inform me that Alpha has been fired. This alone cost me 10 days. Seriously???? • After speaking with Alpha on August 19, I called AHS again. In fact, I was on the phone for 3 hours that day (mainly listening to hold music). The first incompetent person at AHS I spoke to actually tried to reassign ADA – the first company again!!! I said to him over and over, why AHS they told me to my face that they wouldn’t work on my unit. He said not to worry that ADA would be able to help me!! Unbelievable incompetence!! • Later that day on August 19, I called AHS for the 4th time that day because I realized that allowing ADA to come out a second time would only result in another 2-3 weeks of getting nothing accomplished and I have NO REASON TO TRUST AHS. On that call, a different company was assigned me Sears. They told me don’t worry, Sears will work on built in GE Profile refrigerators. Sears called this AM the day of the appointment no less (8/21) and said, NO they do not work on built ins. This represents the 3rd company AHS tried to hire to fix my fridge that doesn’t work on the unit that I have!!!! The Sears debacle cost me at least another week! This is nothing less than gross negligence and utter incompetence on behalf of AHS!! • AHS has now identified a 4th potential company to come out. I asked the woman who set this one up – DID YOU CALL this company to find out if they work on GE Profile built in fridges? – she claimed she tried but got no answer. No appointment has been set for them to even come out nor do I have the information to call myself. When they finally do assign someone, I am going to have to do AHS’ job and call this company to find out (1) do they work on built in’s and (2) how often does AHS deny their submissions for repair due to cost. • As of today, 8/21/24, 66 days after the initial claim was submitted, I am no closer to getting my freezer fixed than I was on 6/16, my fridge is now also 100% dead, I have thrown out hundreds of dollars of food, my family and I have no fridge or freezer and are forced to eat out! • DO NOT USE American Home Shield, they only hire 4th rate companies to cheaply work on anything that is broken. They have NO customer service line, they will NOT let you speak to a manager, they outsource most of the people who answer the phone when you call – most of which have very thick accents and are hard to understand, they play games with you, they do not inform you of status changes (like when they fired Alpha). Worst home warranty company I have ever had!!!!!

I have been a client of AHS for the past 9 years. I purchased my property in July 2015 and AHS was the home warranty service provided by the seller at the time of purchase. I have continued the service with no break in payment since 2015. At the time I was pleased with their service, but over the last couple of years the customer service side has been less than responsive. This last service request has pushed me beyond the point of frustration to real anger. I know your customer service employees are limited in their ability to resolve conflict or dispute but I had yet to hear one of them reassure me - as a client for 9 years and many thousands of dollars spent - that I shpuld recieve the benefit of the doubt. They need to be able to stop reading from a script at some point and escalate to the appropriate department - in this case the Authorization authority - and allow me to resolve the dispute. I just became more furious when the poor guy said "I understand but . . . " As it stands, I have been assured that "someone" will reach out to me in the next 24-48 business hours. Unacceptable. I've submitted my complaint to the BBB for the following: "08/05 - Repair or replace a ceiling fan. Coverage denied. Claimed that a guest house on my property was not part of "covered property". American Home Shield has made covered repairs on the totality of my property - including the guest house - since the purchase of this property in July 2015. Now they are claiming that the guest house no longer qualifies because it is not "revealed" as part of my "covered property" as is not "foundationally connected" to the primary residence. That is only now an issue when I requested this one repair/replace service on 8/5/24. I paid the $100 service fee up front. Their authorization department denied my claim. They never have denied a covered service in the past when I requested service to the guest house as long as it was a covered service. I have the records to prove this. I have had no break in contract with them since the original seller purchased the plan for the sale of the property July 2015. I have read the contract. I have a copy of the contract which I will provide. They are breaking the original terms of the contract as it was established in July 2015" I will maintain my low rating until I have some resolution or decide to seek out a home warranty service that values the word and integrity of their clients. While they were able to restore heating to our radiant heating system, the system is overheating. With thermostat set at 67 degree, the tempterature is shooting up to 71 degrees on cold days and even higher on warmer days. I had to turn the heat completely off so as not to coourk. It is not the thermost, because we have four thermostats in the house, and all are behaving the same, so it is the heating system. When the repair person left, he to said he is not that familiar with this type of radiant heating system, so they would send someone out who is more familiar with this to look at it. However, now they tell me they cannot do that and that I would have to call American Home Shields to make this a separate service call. That means I will have to pay another $100 as this would be c ocnsidered a new service. That ids rdiculous because they never completed the job in the first place.!

we have been a customer for over a decade; In the past 5 years we relocate to NJ: Since the move the quality of business that been dispatched has hit or miss. One technician made my daughter feel very uncomfortable; with his verbal exchange with her, which i voiced to the company to send someone else; it was next to impossible for them to agree to send someone elese; another instance my ac broke; the company sent three different companies that all had different diagnosis; i called a company a friend recommended and it was a clogged filter; the first AHS HVAC service company wanted to replace unit!?! the last call i put in was for a furnaces, took two weeks to get job due to company not prioritize their customer: dispatch too todays, then it was weekend, then needed electrian to fix power, another week pass to dispatch another weekend passed and the furnace was fix two weeks after original call. during 35 degrees weather. seriously looking to find another company

Too long to handle break downs if they respond at all. I had to pay out of pocket for service over a week waiting and didn’t respond. I was told to repair out of net work & be reimbursed! Paid independent contractor the same day service and under 100.00 paid. Contractor didn’t want to do buisness with AHS and didn’t write a bill for them because of slow to be paid. Claim wasn’t paid by AHS. My garage door opener on the out side is faulty. Service wasn’t paid & I paid contractor out of pocket even trout it is under the warranty!! It still won’t hold memory and had to be reprogrammed a few times a month!!

Appreciate the supply cost coverage for replacement dishwasher & A/C. Disappointed with installation of replacement dishwasher because your agent refused to remove & replace due to uneven floor. Had to pay outside help to perform this work, including removal of old unit. Still awaiting to be reimbursed the installation fee charged by your agent. Having problem with A/C compressor that delays in startup. Airserve followed up visit & stated that unit is properly working, but the delay start could be an electrical problem.

I would let people know to inquire about the vendor being assigned to them. I would suggest the following: 1. Is the vendor up for renewal/certification with American Home Shield within the next month? The reason being, AHS did this to me and prolonged my a/c repairs without any remorse for their actions. 2. If you want to speak to a supervisor, good luck!!! If and when a supervisor calls, you must be on standby and drop everything to receive the call. If you missed the call (even when they called outside of business hours), there is NO way to get a supervisor on the line. 3. Get all names when speaking to someone. Everyone you speak to will give you different information and sometimes contradict what other AHS representatives have told you. Even the supervisors gave me wrong information. 4. If AHS says they are going to do something, stay on top of the situation. 2 AHS suoervisors said they were going to do something and never did. It was documented in AHS notes of what needed to be done. It wasn't until I called the 3rd time and spoke to someone about the situation that it was finally taken care of. 5. You will have to do ALL the calling to find out the status of the situation with AHS. The vendors are really good about communicating with you about their status. Unfortunately, the vendors do not have control when it is AHS's doing. Overall, when AHS does their job, things go well. Unfortunately, I have had it where it didn't.

The system allows you to file claims efficiently. I don't often care for the companies that get assigned to me. I've actually had to kick a rude appliance repair man for my washer out of my house. Now I check their ratings and request a different company if I need to. That works better for me. I also don't like it when they don't speak English very well. It makes it difficult to communicate a problem. I've had at least 2 situations where they couldn't diagnose the problem. Not helpful and expensive. I had to replace my air conditioner and the reimbursement was far from satisfactory. Read the fine print. What they promise is advertising and what they deliver is in the fine print. Having said that I always feel better that I have the warranty.

I've had this policy for several years and just this year I've had to use it. So far I'm happy with the service I've received. I don't like sometimes that I have to wait 24 hrs to receive contact, I wish it could be same day with ina few hours. But I understand that's how the company works.

We're paying $110 a month to AHS, then if something breaks, we have to pay an extra $75 each time you submit a ticket. Then the repair either gets approved by AHS or declined, and if declined, then you have to pay the repair yourself, and we get declined quite often for the stupidest reasons. Also the technicians always inflate the bills so much to AHS. We've seen it happen. They come to our house for a tiny little thing and bill AHS $500+ That is insane. And when AHS declines the claim, we're stuck with the inflated rate. It's ridiculous and definitely not monitored. Excellent service from Nate's Appliance for refrigerator and microwave. Nate was able to replace the lid on vergetable bin for a cost of $82.00 and requested the replacement of inoperable microwave. My new appliance was delivered and installed on Monday morning, October 30. It works great and I am grateful to have a working microwave again!

Easy to navigate website and ability to request service online. The Dashboard said the service was completed before the repair was made though. The parts and labor were approved quickly. The service pro was polite, punctual, and knowledgeable. The coverage is very encompassing without a lot of nit-picky non-covered items. That which is not covered are reasonable. Electronics package as an add on is a great value.

The service from AHS was exceptional and timely. I highly recommend the AHS for insurance purposes and the H.A. R. Appliances. The Technician was very prompt, knowledgeable, competent and was able to diagnose the problem by video visit to order and bring the right parts to fix the washer in the first try.

For easy to fix items the warranty is worth the money for not having to hassle with fixing things yourself. For large items like air conditioners and invasive plumbing.. the warranty really doesn't help much at all. Some of the service providers are just scammers, others are very good. Either way... you will end up paying for your big ticket items out of pocket if you want it done right. Or you will get a patched up system and continued problems. OR the the small details of your contract will most likely exclude the repair all together. Look up "slab leak" or "Air conditioner repair". They will offer to replace your compressor but you pay for the freon... $3000. Then the "cash out" offer is very very small compared to what you have to pay to get the work done correctly.

AHS coverage is lacking. You cover certain parts but don't cover the installation of the parts. I had a water heater replaced and had to pay hundreds to get it installed because the installer wanted the connections to be new. We agree they should be new with a new heater but that should be covered. It was not required by code. Likewise, we got our coil replaced. The installer wanted to replace the plenum and that requires plenum insulation and coating. We agree those were required but not due to code. It's just an installation requirement that SHOULD have been covered by AHS. Instead I had to pay hundreds of dollars out of pocket for the installation. This is NOT GOOD. That's why only 3 stars. your installers were great. they get 5 stars.

Very disappointed with AHS regarding my work order for my washer. Agents keep giving me the round around for my repairs. Work order put in in July 2023. Took 3 months to get my washer repaired. Continually send Quality Service to repair my machine. Three different repairman came out 4 different time. I had to ask AHS do not send them back to my house. They didn't not know how to repair. Finally the E. Team another contractor True Vine. Repaired on first try. I should not have had to wait for another contractor to be send. I was so frustrated with the several Agents I talk to. Sounded like all reading from a script. I have been with AHS for over 30 yrs. I should have gotten better service. Very unhappy with the service and length of time it took to get my washer repaired. Unbelievable

Initial call in after filing claim/s, frustrating at times as the call seems to go OFF Shore and hard to understand. Once my latest claim was dispatched, as URGENT, after a few more calls, I got a good plumber. He diagnosed septic issues. My policy covered such an issue. I was advised my check for nearly all the 1400.00 bill was en route via mail. Once it is approved for repair, you have to jump some hoops to get the contractor to get you all INFO that is required; License, etc. I'm happy to have had this warranty for my issue.

Like: The provider was assigned quickly on my work and follow-up on what s/he needs to do was also arranged quickly Not Like: 1. The provider told me that I needed to pay out of pocket to cut the wall area where the pipe was leaking and also to cut and install the PTrap. Basically, it was charge to access the area. I am not sure why I should pay that out of pocket. If a pipe is leaking and that is covered, then wherever the leak is that should be covered. 2. I was told he would replace the pipe and then I am not sure if he will reinstall the PTrap on the sink and who will fix the sheet rock he has cut. I believe he was re-installed the PTrap but not sure and another contractor needs to come and do the sheetrock work. All this could have been explained to me after the provider visited the site by the provider or by AHS.

Dislike customer service very much. Poor. When I called into AHS previously for a disappointing service call and asked how could I get my preferred company the advice was to let AHS know who I would prefer at the next call. I had a situation come up on October 2023 where this issue was addressed except this time, I got online and there was no email request for anything of this type. I filled out most of the request but did not finish the request on the webpage proper as I saw an online chat on the right hand side of the page. I used the chat to see if my preferred company could do the work. When the chat line asked if I wanted to proceed with the request I said, "Yes." When the company finished the work my bank account was charged twice for the one service call. When I called AHS Customer Service to ask them to place one of the two payments taken out back into my bank account they gave me all kinds of excuses, told me I was the reason that this happened, I had placed two orders by using the chat, When I specified that I had not hit submit on the primary webpage and only said, "yes" to the chat, they still gave me problems. The resolution to this was finally reached after two days of phone calls, back and forth, between AHS, myself, and the company that did the service. We actually had to go to a three-way phone call to verify the company owner and dispatch numbers. (which I had given to AHS on a previous call. All of the onus was on myself to prove that AHS had made a mistake, when they could plainly see what they had happened. They could have also looked at the record over the years that I was with them to see that nothing like this had ever happened before. Then to add insult to injury the customer service specialist said that I would have to wait 7-10 business days for the refund! If they can take it out of my account immediately when service is rendered, they could certainly have put it back with the same expediency. Very poorly done by AHS!

Owning old home will come if it's own issues like leaking, etc. Getting parts and labor may be expensive compared with what monthly payments and trade service call you pay. This service may take 1 or 2 weeks to complete the issues.
