SunPower installed solar panels on my home in Feb 2023. In Aug 2023 there was a major storm in the area, the first of the season, and we realized that water was leaking into the home due to broken tiles on the roof. SunPower installers were the only people that had been on our roof for years and we had never had any issues whatsoever with leaks prior to this, so we knew the leak was caused by the installers. SunPower sent inspectors who agreed that the damage was caused by SunPower and that the company would take care of the repairs. We recorded that conversation. Three days later, we received official communication from SunPower stating that they would NOT be accepting responsibility, even after we sent them a copy of the recording in addition to several estimates from contractors stating in the estimates that in their professional opinion, the damage was caused by broken tiles (i.e., not by 'wear and tear'). The total cost to repair our home from this damage is approximately $20,000 (between the roof and the water damage in the ceilings and walls inside). We're now in the process of working with contractors to repair the damage, and paying for it all out of pocket. SunPower still refuses to accept any responsibility.

Since the installation of my home solar panel system, the system has had both performance issues, as guaranteed by the lease agreement, and problems with roof leaks. While the performance issue was eventually addressed, after only being brought to their attention, the roof leak has been on-going and continuous. Both companies (SunPower/Certasun) were at first accommodating to resolve the issues, but recently, they have determined that the roof leak was not do to the solar installation. The roof leaks are located in the same place and right underneath the solar panel mount assembly. I have been trying to get both companies to comply with the mitigation requirements as spelled out in the lease agreement, but as of yet neither have complied. They should not be offering solar services if they cannot follow through on their guarantees. This gives me pause to use solar energy in the future, which is unfortunate, and I certainly won't be dealing with either of these companies again!

This is a late review, but I feel it valuable for this looking into a solar system with Sunpower. Horrible experience all around. I have signed contracts April 8th, to get in under the April 15th deadline. Sunpower failed to submit the paperwork, it never left the office! So I missed out on the NEM 2.0. When contacting Sunpower they pushed it off to someone else. I called all the way up to the corporate office, the secretary said someone would call me the next day, they never have. If that’s the type of service you are looking for, then good luck. It’s frustrating when this company will not assume the responsibility of not performing their job.

I’m sorry to hear you did not make the NEM 2.0 deadline of April 14th, 2023. Although we worked tirelessly to meet the customer demand, SunPower could not guarantee submission for contracts signed after March 1, 2023, due to the extremely high volume of applications during that time. To meet the NEM submission requirements, all the numbered conditions must be met. For customer’s that did not make the cutoff date, the option to cancel the contract was provided with no financial obligation or recourse.

(1)Site survey
(2)A single-line diagram (a simplified representation of an electrical system)
(3)Completed application, free of major deficiencies (e.g. no blanks, incomplete/inaccurate document, changes requiring resubmission per Rule 21)
(4)A signed Contractor State License Board (CSLB) Disclosure and Solar Consumer Protection Guide
(5)A signed Agreement and Authorization Form

The initial process from sales to contract signing was great. Kyle with sales and sue with the project coordination really got through the installation schedule very fast and efficiently. Problems started when they arrived for the installation. The panels were not installed per the drawings. The inside flex conduit was stretched like a water hose pulling the wiring from my breaker panels based on how stretched it was. Multiple holes were left in my walls which are still unpatched. When I brought this up to the sales dep. They came out the following week and explained that they needed to add another switch because of the distance but wouldn't unless I said something. Then of course I paid cash for the system and upon turning it on and immediately not working, everyone had gone silent. The sales rep quit, the project manager has said it's not his issue and to talk to customer service (on multiple occasions). When contacted tech support to submit service tickets to get it to work they even mentioned a ticket should have been submitted after energizing the system but of course, the project coordinator didn't care so he didn't. The customer service staff try to help, but are met with the same, if not worse response from their supervisors to relay to me, which has been 'we will get back to you' which they never do. All their answers and excuses are scripted. Always say "the project manager is with another homeowner on the phone, but asked me to relay XXX, the manager is not available now, but i will personally call you in the morning with her on the line" and they never do". It has gotten to the point that after being placed on hold, I tell the rep "so, this is what you're going to say now, because that's the script and ive heard it before" and all they do is laugh because it was exactly what they were going to say.Now I'm sitting with 56k worth of solar panels on my roof, completely dead and useless, and never worked., and the only response I get is 'Our next appt is in October You want to cancel it?! (The installation was in July!), and this is just to check the system, who knows when it will be functional? Now looking at all these reviews, it seems that everyone (hundreds if not thousands of consumers) is going through an identical experience. We all get the same scripted responses "A member of the escalation team will reach out in 1-3 business days" and they never do, and nothing ever happens beyond that. I highly recommend you stay away. It is not worth the trouble, carelessness, and aggravation. Definitely the worst experience I've ever encountered with any company. And what makes it worse is that while the reps try to help, you can hear in their voice they're met with the same arrogance and helplessness from their own team. SunPowers long history is what brought me to buy their panels, but this has been a nightmare of a company to deal with, and 50K out of my pocket on panels that don't work, and when they do, who knows for how may days they'll stay functional. From seeing other reviews - seems like not for long.

BLUE RAVEN IS TERRIBLE! Most incompetent company we have ever tried to work with. We started a project to install solar on our home in May of 2023. We paid a ~$30 k deposit about a month later. As of September 2023 (been 4 months), they still have not scheduled an installation date. Instead, we keep getting excuses about permits not being approved. However, when we contact our City, our City says everything was approved, but Blue Raven failed to pay the required application fees. When we reached out to BR about this, they promised to make the payment that day (either electronically or by driving to our City offices). Of course, Blue Raven didn't follow through. Instead, they keep making excuses.

Hi Joe, We understand the timeline delays have been frustrating, as they are for us as well, but we remain dedicated to delivering a high-quality installation. Prior to installation, we must follow all permitting processes and have proper documentation. Based on the information you have provided to us, there is miscommunication between what the city is telling us, and what they are telling you. Our Permitting management will continue to have daily follow-up on the permit approval process to ensure we have all necessary permits approved for installation. For any updates we receive on the permit approval, we will contact you to avoid any further miscommunication. If you have any other questions, please don't hesitate to reach out to reviews@blueravensolar.com. -Brenden B.

This company is totally unprofessional. The door-to-door appointment setter dropped the names of several neighbors, so we grudginly agreed to do a quick (30 minutes or less) review of a preliminary report they would prepare for us. The first appointment they scheduled was a 8 pm on a weeknight; the sales rep called at 8:36 pm, stating that his previous appointment ran late, and that he was still about an hour away. We rescheduled for 5 pm on a Saturday. Saturday was another no-show, but this time they outdid themselves by not even bothering to call. If this is they way they act before they even try to earn my business, I'm out.

SunPower completed the installation of my system in early May 2023. On May 30th they sent me an email to inform me that they had identified a problem that would require a site visit to repair the fault. I heard nothing from them all through June but the system appeared to be functioning normally. In early July I started to see some issues with data being reported in the app and called them. Nothing was done to fix the issue. On July 23rd, the system stopped working and despite calling on numerous occasions and being told that this was being escalated (see my previous review) they have still not scheduled a technician to come out. It is now September 15th and the only response I get is that their technicians are not available but "they are working on it". Since I bought the system outright rather than lease, I can only assume that they are prioritizing new (paying) customers over supporting their existing ones who have paid them their money! Update: On September 26th (4 months after the initial problem was identified by them and 2 months after the system stopped functioning), SunPower finally sent a technician to fix the problem. It was apparently caused by an automatic software update that failed and it only took a few hours to rectify. However, this was only after I sent letters of complaint via certified mail to their CEO, CTO, and Legal Chief of Staff and Director of Operations stating that I would be pursuing legal avenues to get a full refund of the purchase cost if they did not fulfill their contractual obligations. I cannot say for sure whether my actions directly resulted in an elevated urgency to get someone out to my home but it does seem a like a large coincidence that they sent someone within 2 weeks of receiving the letters.

Would give 0 if I could, salesman provides you with wrongful information just to get you in, then rush you to sign in, they told us about great promotion that just ended but they can still owner it if you sign within 24hr, when you sign everything they just ghost you! Our energy bill is triple now, we used to pay $120 now it’s $370, what a great deal, they don’t tell you anything about hidden fees and additional cost. Stay away from this company, working with legal team to teach this company a lesson as lucky we have recordings of what we were promised by salesman. Good luck everyone and be safe out there! Don’t trust sales people and do your own research.

Hi Viktoriia, we're sorry to hear that your experience did not match expectations. At the beginning of the project, we received a bill reflecting less than two weeks of usage, which was not something we could provide an exact estimate on. Rather than usage, our team designed the system based on the average residential usage for the square footage of your home. As the contract states, our guarantees are for production and not offset, since any changes or adjustments in usage are not within our control. I see that a member of our Customer Support Team management has reached out to address this with you further. We installed 28 panels through Sun Power at the end of 2022. The installers were not Sun Power employees. They were subcontractors who damaged the roof. I am one of the few homeowners who will climb on the roof to see what is going on, otherwise I would not have known. They came back to repair the many holes and damaged roof tiles (good thing I had some extra left over). Finally after much back and forth the system came on line, but the full system has never worked properly. We have had many visits from subcontractors who would try to fix it. On the last visit, they installed 27 out of 28 microinverters. Now there are 26 out of 28 working (I think). Although now, the subcontractor is not responding to them and so it seems that I am stuck. Contemplating legal action.

Received several delays on installation. First, the initial inspection was cancelled just hour before it was scheduled. Second, the permit process, despite what I told them caused delay when the request was sent to the city of my zip-code even though I am in the county. Third, panels were supposed to be ready when the permitting was complete but were not. Then, the electrical installation was incorrect; the panel out was on the wrong side of the meter which was discovered only when my first electric bill showed zero feed into the grid even though their app showed otherwise. Dealing with them has been a matter of referral by their corporate to the sales and back to corporate 800 number which, after a lenghty conversation, it was determined that a supervisor had to be involved in compensation issues. Unfortunately, none were available??? The were to call back within 24 to 48 hours which also was ignored. BEWARE - satisfaction after the sale is apparently not their goal!

My husband and I contracted with SunPower in February 2023 to have solar installed on our house, as of today, July 26, 2023 we are still waiting. The reason we chose to use SunPower was because we had them insgtall solar on our other house and they were exceptional and we didn't get any other quotes because ouf our history with SunPower, but this has been a fiasco for five (5) months. They will not call us to give us an update, I had to call their corporate headquarters to get the to reach out to me, and it weasn't until I called their headerquarters thay sent a design team out to create the install (in June 2023). When they submitted the design to us and we submitted it to our HOA, the front office would not submit it to the HOA committee because the design was full of errors. The inverters should be installed on the inside of the garage or behind and below the fence line and all conduits must be run through the attic and out of sight from the common area and the design SunPower submitted was just the opposite. SunPower should have known what the criteria is for our HOA, as we are not the first ones with SunPower to be installed, it appears to be away for them to further stall on the installation. There have been a change of ownership with Sunpower because they are the exact opposite of the company we dealt with before, had we know that their customer service was non existant, we would have chosen another company.

My system installed on June 6th 2023. And one panel stop working from June 21st. And the installer forgot to install CT devices to monitor the power consumption of my house, i only can see the solar production on the APP. I can’t see my home power consumption. And the layout of the panels are different from the contract and design from the permit. I email SunPower and called like 100 times, they just provided me a CASE#: 03391344 and each time telling me they have a team to monitor that issue and it’s been a month now, still no one contact me for that dead panel and installation of the CT. And they telling me maybe something is block the sunlight get to that one panel, i took pictures for them shows nothing blocked that one panel and at that time the production is still zero. My system shows from June 28 to July 22 the solar panels generated 1318.9 kwh but SCE only received 964 kwh. I need an explanation for that 360 kwh difference that not go into sce system. Because they didn’t install the CT when they installed the panels, I can’t even check my net meters on the app. I have to go to sce website to do the calculations by myself. I paid in cash full price, i should get the fully functioning system not the one with one broken panel and forgotten CT monitor device. Basically i lost a lot money for that 1 panel every month.

Stay AS FAR as you can from SunPower - I have had an absolutely disgusting experience with them. - The sales team would sell you the Solar concept beautifully but have NO KNOWLEDGE of how it works - whats WORSE is that they will make promises that the company will 100% FAIL to honor. They would commit to you that you will never have to pay more than $40 to your current electric supplier but you will be in for a shock - I have had to pay from $200 to $900 every month after the SunPower solar installation was done. - Initially the first excuse was the system needs sometime to settle in and after 2 months the results will follow - something that NEVER happened. - You would have to BEG to them after paying close to $50000 and all they would do is to BLAME YOU that you have used way too much - which is an IGNORANT LIE. - It took me more than 1 year - where I kept showing them all my past bills from EDISON which clearly proved that they were lying and were absolutely disinterested after selling the system to even care about what you pay EDISON - all they are concerned about is that they get their payments - BEWARE - SunPower has multiple sub-companies which may have been setup just to pay the BLAME GAME or save them for LEAGAL situations - They will use all kind of collection companies and threaten you withe dire consequences to PAY THEM NO MATTER WHAT - After 1 YEAR they accepted that their fault was their sales team was in a rush to lock the deal while their tech team did not do the necessary analysis of how many solar panel would actually be required - once again playing their BLAME GAME - the worse came later as they promised that if I was to buy more solar panels from them - and PAY THEM an ADDITIONAL 10-15 THOUSAND DOLLARS every thing would be fixed and I would never have to pay more than $40 - which was initially promised without due diligence from their TECH TEAM. - So now I have payed them close to $60,000 - and NOTHING has changed - It's nothing less than a NIGHTMARE !!! STAY AWAY from SunPower - these are the kinds of companies that cheat you and intimidate you from the overall solar concept

ground mount, (34) 360w SunPower solar panels, with Enphase micro-inverters as of today, 6/30/2023: 10 months since system started generating power (with issues)(Aug 2022), 3 micro-inverters have had repeated failures since initial startup with no on-site tech support until 10 months later (June 2023). 32 micro-inverter failures on these 3 inverters over 10 months documented by me during this time and frequently reported to SunPower. Note: I have an electrical background and a MS in Engineering. 8 months since Net Metering was initiated (Oct 2022) (verses Feb 2022 as promised) 21 months since contract was signed (Oct 2021), with a completion date of Jan 2022 in the contract. Ground mount platform installed in April 2022 and electricians completed their work late July 2022. ComEd did not authorize system use until Aug 2022 and Net Metering until late Oct 2022. I have yet to receive a set of red-line or as-left drawings (an accurate set). 17 months past contract completion date (with multiple issues still open), such as ground mount platform not installed per code (it took 10 months [June 28, 2023] for SunPower to confirm it wasn't installed per code by their sub-contractor) In spite of filing complaints with the BBB, Illinois Shines complaints, Illinois Attorney General, and IL State Senator, all of which have engaged SunPower beginning in 2022; SunPower has not finished the installation per contract nor supported their warranties. It took months for my attorney and I to get SunPower to pay their Arbitration Process fees in order to schedule a meeting with a judge/arbitrator as required by contract. Currently scheduled for July. Thus far: $8,000 in attorney fees; $2,000 in lost kWh generation due to late installation; arbitration process fees; and hundreds of hours of my personal time… however, still fighting the good fight.

Very poor service! DO NOT USE THEM! I regret going with this company! Installation process has been a nightmare. I’m coming up on a year and they can’t seem to get it together. The install team will do whatever they want just so your system passes inspection. Once it does EVERYONE forgets about you. Did they tell you that you will get a rebate or gift card? Yeah! Good luck getting it! It took me months to get it! Need to reach out to them? Good luck with that too! Your sales rep will sell you the unit and once you sign will drop you like a bad habit! I fully expect that this review will not be posted since this is a site paid for by the companies represented. This is about their lack of service and failure to respond to warranty issues. Our SunPower system failed in February 2023, I have been trying to work with them since March 14. They finally sent a tech team 6 weeks after the initial efforts to diagnose and repair our system. At that time, the technician confirmed that the junction box (and therefore our system) was "fried" and were lucky that the house did not catch fire. We have been "escalated" to “level 3” and assigned an “executive support person,” in April from whom I actually received 1 telephone call. Multiple telephone calls that are never returned, emails with lame excuses, promises to return calls by the end of the business day are just a few of the examples of ongoing efforts to get SunPower to stand by its warranty. And now, we've heard nothing from our support person for more than 3 weeks. We have been lied to, ghosted, given multiple case numbers and excuses as to why they can't come back and fix it any time soon...or maybe ever. The latest excuse is that they are "waiting for needed equipment" to repair our system. 4 months of trying to get them to fix their products and being treated so disrespectfully is unprofessional and ridiculous! The irony of course is that they have a major solar equipment facility about 30 miles from here. Evidently, junction boxes, wiring, fuses and maybe even an inverter are too scarce and exotic to even give us a date when we might get back on line. The "escalation specialist" job title should be retitled "obfuscation specialist" since SunPower seems to have no interest in providing customer service that results in actual service.

I cannot stress enough that the customer service by this company is the worst i have ever experienced. If you have a problem with your system (poor performance and two faulty inverters since we've had the system since installation) as I have had, good luck trying to get a solution. My first faulty inverter took close to 9 months to replace and and the second inverter is now closing in on 1 year. ONE YEAR!!! How could a repair take one year!!?? This is unbelievable! My case has been transferred internally form rep to rep with no solution to date. Even when everything was working properly, the system has under performed since installation to which they finally agreed to add 4 new additional panels to my home. This process has been ongoing for a little over a year now with still no installation date in sight. I regret leasing anything from this company and would never recommend this company to anyone. My neighbors have used other companies for their solar panels and have not experienced anything close to the miserable service this company offers.

Is there anyway I can rate them at minus 10. I have been suffering with problems since 2019 and I wish I can tell everyone looking to use Sunpower Solar company to run! They deceived me and now my house is almost condemned since the installation of the panels in 2017. May those guys who deceived me never experience peace in their lives if they are still alive! The peace that I have lacked since 2019 is enough to eat their own up. Many good reviews, but am one of the few unlucky ones. Currently my life is in danger as rain water is running down through electrical outlets on the ceiling and the company wants me to pay for the removal and reinstalling of 43 panels placed on a small house. I have raccoons raise their babies in my ceiling and anything else one can imagine of. I have tried all I can to appeal to sunpower in vain. A roof that I could hve repaired with 7k is now being evaluated for over 20k due to the extensive damages. If you are eyeing solar energy by SUNPOWER, just be careful!

Good communication. Quick response, good service, very professional. Also, like the apps, telling the energy usage and produced from each solar panel.

Edit: After posting the original review below, Blue Raven Solar contacted us and told us that they would give us the money to repaint our entire ceiling, but only if we deleted all of our reviews. Some people might call that a bribe, what do you think? They don’t care about fixing their mistakes and taking care of their customers, they only care about protecting their reputation so they can pretend to be a decent company and take more peoples money, in my opinion. Terrible experience. Dishonest and Dishonorable company, IMO. Our installation started on Monday 10/31/22, I was told that the install would be a 1 day install when scheduling it. The crew did not get finished that first day, and said they'd be back the next day. No one showed. Called for an update, was told they'd be back on Friday, I complained that my panels were just left leaning against the house, and they had the crew back the next day to finish. The crew was very kind, however, they did leave a mess in the yard. Shingles laying about, tubes of caulk, drink cups, etc. 11/4/22, luckily I was home during the day, because there was water coming from my kitchen ceiling.Turns out the installation crew missed a rafter when installing the brackets and put a hole in the roof.I called Kristen and and they had someone come fix the hole in the roof right away. After the leak Kristen assured us that the company would handle the repairs to our ceiling. Coming from construction I know touch up paint on ceilings doesn’t look good asked if the whole ceiling would be repainted. She assured us that the company would handle the repairs and told me specifically that she told her manager that the whole ceiling needed to be repainted, and that it shouldn’t be a problem. Then came the next 6 months. Blue Raven Customer service rarely reached out to me, even though when I spoke with reps I was told that someone would contact me soon. I had to continually call them every couple weeks and ask for an update. Every single time the update was something about how they couldn’t get ahold of their paint contractor and that they would start looking for a new one. In February, I spoke with a rep and they asked me if I had the paint on hand for when they found a contractor. I explained that no one told me I needed to get that. I discussed with the rep how much paint and we agreed on two gallons to ensure there was enough to repaint the entire ceiling, I purchased the paint the next day and they reimbursed me for the two gallons. Finally in April, when I called in and they gave me the same excuse of not being able to get ahold of their paint contractor and that they were going to start looking for a new one, I asked to speak with a supervisor. I was transferred to Steven H. - Work Orders Lead. Steven told me that they were not going to repaint my entire ceiling and that they were only going to be repainting the affected spots. I explained that I had been assured by my sales rep Kristen and multiple Work Orders Reps that my entire ceiling would be repainted, and even explained that his reps told me to purchase two gallons of paint to ensure that we had enough paint to cover the whole ceiling. He didn’t care. I reached out to my sales rep Kristen, and explained the situation. She washed her hands of us saying she had done everything she could and that we had to talk to work orders. I don’t think it’s unreasonable to expect a company to leave your home in as good of condition as when they entered, especially when they are the ones who caused the damage in the first place. I was assured by multiple parties on multiple occasions that my ceiling would be repainted after they put a hole in my roof. Now, after 6 months of waiting, being the one to reach out for updates and trying to move the project along, and being told they would handle the situation multiple times, I have to be the one to pay out of pocket for my ceiling to be repainted.

So many reasons why I WOULD NOT recommend this solar company to others. At first it seemed to be rainbows, sunshine and perfect promises. Then it turned out too good to be true. They are impossible to contact and take weeks to get ahold of when we found a leak due to the rain season. They show up to your house unannounced on their own time and do not care whether it is a good time or not to fix what needs to get fixed. They promised us no money to get it installed and since we are selling our home - now are trying to charge both our home buyer and us 10K to transfer the lease with them. Oh, this is also after nearly two weeks of trying to get a hold of them in the first place of transferring to new buyers. We never got the 10k rebate that was promised either. Milholland is not a trustworthy company if you are looking for someone to be customer service based or careful with your home. They are a cancer to actual reputable Solar companies and deserve to be burned to the ground. I will never trust, like, or want to use another Solar company again because of how useless and negatively they have impacted my home with their negligence. Rating: 0.5/5 stars ✨

Please read this before you purchase solar panels from Blue Raven. Signing a contract with Blue Raven is the most financially detrimental decision I have ever made. Most people have left positive reviews for this company. I would have as well if I hadn't done my homework after I received the panels. I waited a full year so I could get accurate data from every season and then verified the energy savings from my panels. The cost of the loan they sold me for the number of panels I received is $120.89 per month. The average savings I get per month from the panels is $60.76. Summer months are higher and winter months are lower. But on average it is costing me double to pay for the panels than the energy savings I get. The panels are rated for 25 years with a known decrease in production of roughly .5% each year. So every year I am loosing over $700 by signing a contract with them. So over the life of my loan I am going to lose an estimated -$19,178.50. All my panels have been verified to be working properly so it isn't a technical issue. I have had both the power company and Blue Raven themselves verify my numbers and both say the numbers are accurate. Blue Raven actually agreed with my complaint and asked me to continue collecting data for them for another year. I did so and was able to validate my continued losses for them. At the end of the 2nd year they told me that there was nothing they were willing to do to make it right. So I am stuck now paying double for my utilities instead of saving money like they promised me I would. I feel it is extremely unethical for a company to promise you savings and then sell you a contract that ends up costing you double. My email is in the spreadsheet if you have questions.

It's been very effective for us. We've only had it about a year, but so far it is working great. They came and put the panels on the roof and ran some conduit for the electrical. They had hooked up the electrical box itself prior to the time of installation of the panels and then they just hooked it to the power panel. Everything went smoothly other than the rain caused a delay.

RAVINDER S Purba Oyster Bay, NY

I signed lease with Sun Power back in 2012 I think and solar panels were installed by Empower Solar located in Island Park, my roof was new back when solar panels were installed and it was inspected and evaluated by Empower Solar, I had first roof leak and interior damage back in 2019 and Empower Solar came to evaluate that roof is damaged and I had to get the roof replaced, they removed the solar panels and I had to get the roof replaced and they gave me 5k back towards roof and no reimbursement towards interior damage which I paid out of pocket, not very good experience with Empower Solar, if you want to have your roof damage or replaced pre-maturely then reach out of them they are pretty good with this kind of work, April 2022 another roof leak that caused mold and damage to the inside of the house cost 45k in damages, We had to get insurance involve to pay the damages since Empower Solar walked away from taking responsibility, Empower Power did not want to listen anything and every time I call them to come check for leak and they charged me for every visit and told me that roof is not good and assured me that it is not the solar panels that are causing the leak it is roof which was installed back in 2019 brand new, as matter of fact roof on the entire back of the house was replaced, I called roofer on my own and asked for his opinion, roofer mentioned that he can't check for leak until the panels are removed, I paid 5k to have the panels removed from the back of the house and after roofer came to see the leak he found multiple holes that were drilled by Empower Solar and filled with silicone to seal the hole and roofer also found that Empower Solar used 3.5 inches bolts to mount the brackets on the roof which went though the singles and plywood under the shingles that was part of the leak as well, I had to get entire back of the house roof replaced again and get my interior damages and mold fixed, My solar system has been down since April of 2022 and Sun Power has been taking lease payment of the system that is not working on regular basis, I reached out to Sun Power many times and they have given me the case number that is still open, every time I call Sun Power I am told that my case has been escalated to next level and someone is going to reach out to me, No one from Sun Power call me back, Every time I call them I told them that I am paying for system that has been down since April 2022 and they said told me that I have signed lease with them and I am responsible for lease payment, 1.5 months before I received call from manager name "Yellow" and I was assured that this issue will be resolved but nothing changed, I tired reaching out to "Yellow" many times and she was no where to be found, I was told by customer service that "Yellow" will call me back or email me if she has any questions, after calling customer service many times and requested to speak to manager she reports to, I received call from "Ivan N" and I was told Yellow reports to him and he will get this case resolved and assured me that he will call me back with updates and he mentioned that Sun Power will no longer take lease payment out of my account until solar panels are installed back on the and system goes live again and gave me his direct line phone number which is nothing but number to leave voicemail, this was 2.5 weeks before, , I received automated email from Sun Power that payment will be taking out of my account 04/01/2023, I called customer service again and they mentioned I don't have to worry, I can't get hold of Ivan and I am not getting response back to any of my emails that I am sending to Sun Power, Solar panels are sitting in my back yard and railings are laying in my back yard, This is open ended case that is being ignored. I have already paid the savings that I was going to save over the life of the solar panels "20" years through damages that was done to my house due to leaks twice. I was told my friends to take this matter to court and have lawyer take over, I will give little more time to see this gets resolved, I really hope they do get this resolved so that I can have my backyard back for this summer and have normal life.

I purchased my system more than a year ago. At the time of install, I was told the system would meet all of our energy needs. In fact, our sales guy said we’d only be paying a local connection fee and we would probably produce more electricity than needed. Unfortunately, that’s not been the case for us. I contacted SunPower more than half a dozen times, asking if they could add a few panels to our existing system, and I’ve been given the run around each time. Up until this point, communication has been great & the install was very well executed. However, since making inquiries about the overall shortfalls in energy production, the salesman who sold us the system has been MIA, and SunPower keeps saying the system is working just fine. Of course, my concern is not whether the system works, but rather if the system is producing the amount of power they promised me that it would (and, it isn’t). This was a classic bait and switch. This has been a very expensive investment that has not paid off for us. We still pay our utility for power. Buyer beware. Would not recommend SunPower.

After signing my contracts with SunPower on 2 Nov 2022, I was passed along from my sales rep Joe C’s, to my project manager, Steiger M . The one email I got from him on Nov 28 was to tell me the engineers had finished the planning and we were proceeding. I have not heard from him since. He will not return any calls or emails. I had to get the escalations dept involved, and a Zach White answered a few emails before stopping communicating with me. At no point was any inappropriate language used in any communication. I was told that it would be impossible to place backup batteries in my home. This is months after being told the engineers had approved plans. Now I can not get any one to talk to me, am I still under contract? I’m honestly not sure. One thing I know is if it’s this hard during the “honeymoon” phase, I can not imagine how bad getting a repair under warranty would be.

I think this is not true for everyone for giving a 5 star review. This company I chose last year which I thought would give me a good service and installation end up the worst service ive had. I signed a contract last August of 2022 and until now I havent got my installation yet. Back and forth design correction requests from the city planning and not sure if they know what they are doing. The bad thing here was the poorly coordination of the permit coordinator to the city. They gave me ETA from my previous PC to get the permit and then the following week i just learned from the city planning that the coordinator never ever resubmit a correction plan to the city till to this date while Im writing this. Previous project coordinator who took this project never coordinated well throughout the process of the project from their subordinates, city and client. So until today I havent got my installation yet not even permit and NEm approval. I wish i just go with another solar company.

Stay as far away from SunPower as you can, unless you like non-functioning systems, endless hold times on customer service, and refusal to have a tech come out to your house to even investigate why your system isn't producing energy. My solar system has not been producing energy for several months at the least, and maybe longer. I have called SunPower so many times and get nowhere with them. You're lucky if you can even get a human on the line after endless wait times. Once you do get a human on the line, they'll tell you that you need to contact one of their local dealers. Then you repeat the same exercise with the local dealers, explaining what's wrong, and they tell you you have to contact SunPower corporate to have them send a tech out. But SunPower corporate refuses to send a tech out. I have no choice now but to rip out this junk system from a junk company with junk customer service and replace it with Tesla or some other company that isn't falling apart at the seams. The wheels are coming off at SunPower. Stay as far away as you can. EDIT: They've requested more information from me as if my review isn't legitimate or something. Here is my reference number with their customer support: ref:_00D80ZF1L._5002T1OmjR8:ref Nothing I have said here is something I haven't said to them in private many times. But now that it is posted publicly they are scrambling to address it. We'll see. Haven't heard from them yet. EDIT 2: Do you see their response from January 30th? They never followed up after that. They told me they would send a technician out and never did, nor did they call me back to schedule one. EDIT 3: They finally sent a tech out to look at my system (which wasn't even installed correctly). They charged me $300 for this technician to come out. This was about a month ago, since then I've heard nothing from the company. Can't get answers from them about what was wrong, what needs to be fixed, and if it's covered under warranty. So going on 9 months no of no working solar due to SunPower being a disaster of a company. EDIT 4: Despite their own technicians telling me the system was not installed correctly, and was installed with poor practices leading to extreme fire hazard, and also telling me that the panels are dead but covered under warranty, the corporate office REFUSES to do the right thing and replace my panels under warranty, and fix everything that they did wrong. Their corporate office and customer service people are either evil or incompetent. It boggles my mind that their own technicians can tell me to my face that their bosses need to replace my broken system under warranty, and then their corporate office calls me and spins some crap about why they can't replace it and why they won't replace it. They couldn't even keep their story straight. This business is a dumpster fire of an operation, and customer service is like talking to ChatGPT, if ChatGPT got hit in the head really hard. Do yourself a favor and never use SunPower. I will be recommending against them to anyone who asks me about them. I will never use them for any of my properties, residential, commercial, or otherwise. The whole point of solar is to save money, but now I am in the hole tens of thousands because they sold me a hunk of crap. I am just glad my house didn't burn down with the poor and shoddy job they did on installing it.

Researched Solar. SunPower panels are among the best, but customer services is zero out of five stars. Only gave 1 cause I had to. Can never get a straight answer, never get the correct answer, 10 out 10 time there is some type of excuse that has nothing to do with the issue. 10 out 10 times who you are talking to never knows what is on your house, what you are suppose to get, and can never find you proposal when your on the phone with them. Panels are great, but system can only be as good as the customer support behind them, and that is terrible. So do not fall for the same thing I did. I was told get your sunpower panels from sunpower directly cause we stand behind everything with a 25 year all inclusive warranty, and don't use a sub contractor that won't be there for you. Well in 5 months sunpower can not get anything done for me and indicate when they do something it is because of BUGGING them. I don't expect a call back with your issue. They were literally monitoring my system for 5 months and could not figure out the readings had to be wrong. If the monitoring didn't fail completely 5 months later and after per there words BUGGED them enough to send someone out to look at my system, no one would have ever known the monitoring was inaccurate. When the tech came out he found what was a bad wire, when he fixed it, the monitoring started working properly for about 4 days till it went down again and since then I have had to reboot the system 3x to get the monitoring working. But know one from sunpower cares. Value for the money is only 5 stars if I never have an issue with the panels. The panels are great, the guys that came out to my home were good, but everything else is TERRIBLE. Oh by the way Sunpower I had 3 people that were interested in solar after I had mine done. Unfortunately I referred them elsewhere, cause I can't lie to a friend and have them go through what I have. VERY DISAPPOINTED!!!

All I can say SUNPOWER is only good at in selling solar services, "BUT" with regards to after sales service problems that their solar installation and equipment is concerned, the company has "ZERO" response when you need them to fix the problem(s). Here in San Diego, they refer their repairs or trouble call to a 3rd party company and the SUNPOWER will expect that giving their customer a confirmation number has done their job. I've been calling the SunPower for several times after giving them my credit card, until now no one ever contacted me from the repair company they are working with or resolution on their end. The SunPower customer service has always the same response, that they are looking at it every time I call. As a customer, I hate giving 1 star but, if you do not do your job, as you have promised during your sales pitch, I'm sure we will voice out our problem(s) and get the party concerned for an immediate resolution or action on this matter. Additionally, if you cannot provide the services that we need please let us know so we have an option to address our problem immediately rather than wait when your action will take place. In comparison with SUNRUN Solar in my other residence, I'm glad to say that SUNRUN does a better job, and I did not encounter this kind of problem or been ignored. Looking at it is not the best answer, you need someone to physically check on site the problem. ACTION SPEAKS LOUDER THAN WORDS!!! While I'm writing this review, I was talking to their customer support and after telling me to wait for 20 minutes, because he is "looking at it" he just suddenly hangs up.

IF YOU ARE THINKING ABOUT IT...JUST DON'T WORK WITH THEM. We signed our contract on July 4, 2022 and until today January 30, 2023 they are still working on setting this up. We were told they will keep us updated...NOT TRUE! We have to constantly call for updates, and there has been times when, the representative answering doesn't even know why it has taken so long. They can and worked on our box twice. They have HORRIBLE customer service. We have been patient and understanding but this is just beyond reasonable timing. We are considering just looking into canceling and finding a new company. We are TIRED OF WAITING!!!!

service after the sale... lacking UPDATE: Sunpower responded with a new email address to tell them my issue: They sent another email address due to this review. . I emailed my contact information... the mail did not bounce but the response has been zero after nearly 2 weeks. If I could give 0 stars I would. ******** The 3.6KwHr system I had installed directly by sunpower about 5 years ago. It worked fine, was done on time and was completed in a professional manner. Two months ago, the Sunpower monitor quit reporting data. I did the reset sequence and triple checked the internet connection to no avail. PGE reports my system is still working... just the monitor has quit. I sent an email to Customer Service who responded that response would be slow. I waited. No notice after a month. The sunpower mobile app says to send requests to a particular email.... invalid address. I have concluded that there is no Customer Service department. The system works, but buyer beware... if your system fails after a few years, you might not be able to talk to anyone about it.

The equipment is great and the company was great at taking care of our needs. The system was up quickly and our minor issues were addressed expeditiously.

We signed a contract for a system for our house on August 15th of 2022. The sales rep was amazing! He was very attentive. A week later we signed a contract to get a pool built. Guess what happened? Our pool was designed, permitted, built, and running for a month before our solar system was up and running. This company is SLOW to actually complete the work. They are very fast to get the contract signed and financing in place so they can get paid. Any time we emailed or called and asked questions, it took days to get an answer. We needed a bigger electrical panel on our house to accommodate the size of the system we ordered. They knew this at the start of our project, and it took weeks and weeks to get that done. They were very slow in getting permits through the city to do the work. They said it was a city issue. We called the city, and they explained the issues were on the company side. We asked to cancel our contract several times and were told that we cannot. This felt shady and almost as a "gotcha" moment. I am not saying they did not perform the work as stated in the contract, I am saying it felt as if the company does not care one bit about the customer after the contract is signed. The install crew was fast. they were very professional. All of the panels got installed as ordered. What was missing was the "bird guard" we asked to be installed to stop pigeons from roosting under our panels. The panels have been on our roof for nearly 6 weeks now and birds are living under them. There is STILL no guard up for them. They said the system has to activated in order for the install to happen. Now whoever installs it will have to power wash the roof prior to installing it. I can almost bet money that won't happen without a fight. We actually "flipped the switch" to activate the system on Thursday January 19, 2023 (5 months after signing with them). I tried to log into the app to see how the system is producing and their app "can't locate my system". we have called, emailed, and complained for three days now and they still can't/won't help us resolve this. We have gotten email with resets and instructions, but it still does not work. We have asked for help, and nobody can produce answers. their solution is just to send more emails to reset passwords. I don't write reviews often but felt it was needed. For the amount of money spent, the level of service is a lot lower than expected. As far as the lower portions, I can't say the value for the money since the app doesn't work and we can't see what the system is doing. The Quality of Product can't be rated because the app doesn't work and i cannot see what the system is or isn't doing. Customer service is lacking severely. Below they as "How long did it take from the time you signed the contract to the time your system was fully installed?" they don't give an option for "5 months for system and still waiting for bird guard" so I selected "Not installed" since everything we ordered is STILL NOT installed.

This company should be shuttered for good. I had panels installed in May, 2022, and have yet to see any savings. I have received an electric bill each month since installation and it took until Jauary 5, 2023 for a tech to come out and look at my system. Supposedly it's now operating fine and sunpower offerred tosen me a measley $300 for my troubles. I paid two bills for six months. One toSunPower for $217 a month and the other to my electric company and no bill was under $200 for that. IT"S A SCAM I bought a used car recently and the dealer called me a week later to ask how I liked it. I spent $58,000 on a solar system that the company came to my door soliciting and not one call to ask how it was going. I found out that the system was malfunctioning after receiving a massive electric bill one month after installation. That's how you find out these awesome panels they talk about arent worth the cost. There's no one around to fix them. I can't sell my house right now if I needed to without losing tens of thousands of dollars. If a system doesn't show it's saving you money, then no one will take over the cost.
