Debt Negotiation Program

Through Turnbull’s debt negotiation program, clients may be able to get out of debt faster than with other programs.

The benefits of enrolling into Turnbull’s program include the following:

Savings — clients may only pay a fraction of what they currently owe
Speed — clients can resolve their debt much faster than if they were making the monthly minimum payments
Affordability — the monthly deposit is usually less per month than the minimum payments

Turnbull’s attorney-represented program allows potential clients a free one-on-one consultation with an attorney before enrolling.

Additionally, clients will receive a licensed attorney to oversee their entire program and clients will have attorney representation if any of the creditors decide to use legal action to collect the debt.

Those who enroll in the program will make monthly deposits into an FDIC-insured Dedicated Account (owned and controlled by the client). As the funds begin accumulating, the law firm will then create a negotiation strategy based on the creditors and amount owed.

Regarding the negotiation strategy and available funds, Turnbull’s attorneys and negotiators will work directly with the creditors to reduce the amount owed. When an agreement is reached, the attorney will present it to their client for approval.

Once approved, funds in the Dedicated Account will be used to pay the creditors and Turnbull’s fees for that settlement. The process is continued until all debts are paid off.

Depending on the situation, the program can last anywhere between 24–48 months.

Worst decision I ever made. Calls from companies, lawsuit filed against me because Turnbull didn’t want to negotiate with American Express. Then followed there rules but they didn’t pay so I have a garnishment from my bank account. Totally destroy your credit for YEARS to come. Can’t reach the attorneys for 5-7 days and customer service has no power to do anything. They don’t care about the people enrolled. They just want your money. Go elsewhere please

PLEASE READ BEFORE GIVING THESE PEOPLE YOUR MONEY. I reached out to a company called Freedom Debt Relief in an effort to reach settlements with my creditors, and to achieve “financial freedom.” Freedom Debt uses Turnbull Law Group to receive customer payments, and do the negotiations. That is who my complaint is about. I have been in a program with them for 9 months. I’ve paid $228 semi monthly, totaling just over $4,200. 11/15/23 I was laid off unexpectedly, but had enough funds from severance to get me to January 2024. I called just before the first of Jan, to pause my auto drafts (as I no longer had funds). I was told this was done and to call back when I could make payments. Great. That was so far from the truth. Auto draft continued 1/15, and my bank account was negative. So I call today, 1/31 to turn it off yet again. I was finally informed that I have to call 72 hours before each draft to turn each payment off, and that I’ll have to call my bank to do a stop payment on this particular payment, so I did. Here is where my main complaint comes in. It makes me sick to my stomach even writing this. This company claims to HELP you achieve financial freedom, but all they have done is take all of my money with nothing to show for it. When I was laid off, I had an account in active settlement. The settlement agreement was for $3,900 (give or take a few bucks) and I had paid about $4200 in to my account. Enough for the settlement and a fee. Boy was I so wrong. Turnbull knew I was laid off and was not receiving income and what do they do? They TAKE OVER $2,900 FOR THEMSELVES, and send the creditor $1000 or so toward my settlement. Not nearly enough to be considered settled. $2,900. More than half of MY money. And guess what? The creditor that money was supposed to go to considered the settlement null and void. But turnbull gets paid, and I’m even further in debt. This creditor likely will not re- negotiate another settlement with me. Their excuse? “Well we did the work to negotiate”. Come on- I could have just as easily called my creditors and obtained the same exact settlement. This company does not care about helping you. Only about getting paid. I want my “settlement fee” returned to me so that I can actually put it towards my debt like it was intended for. I will keep writing reviews until that happens.

To start, I was quite possibly the biggest skeptic of this program when I enrolled with Turnbull. Here is the back story. . . I got myself into a hefty amount of credit card debt to the point I was drowning in it. I reached out to a loan provider whom I had worked with before but unfortunately, I did not qualify for a loan this go-around. The individual I spoke to informed me of my two options - either enter a debt relief program or file for bankruptcy - I chose the debt relief program. Being a resident of Virginia, I was matched with Turnbull Law Group. I was very scared to proceed with Turnbull as the thought of litigation was terrifying. In addition to this, I was very skeptical of this being a program that would actually help. I was under the impression that this was a scam and I'd be paying way more money than what I owed. A few weeks after beginning the program, I tried to get out due to fear of what was to come. The gentleman I spoke with in customer service encouraged me to stick with the program for at least a while longer and that if after a month or so I wasn't happy, I should call back and they'd close the program for me (full refund). Because I was unsure of a backup plan, I decided to heed that gentleman's advice and boy am I glad I did. I've been in the Turnbull program since January of 2023 and I just had my first settlement agreed (June 2023) for 50% of what I owed to the credit card company! Quite honestly, I could not be more happy with Turnbull and the work they are doing on my behalf. This program has taken a tremendous amount of stress off of my shoulders and I'm so thankful for that. Looking forward I still have two more accounts that need to be settled but I know that in due time, the same fortune will come my way. As far as communication with Turnbull, ALL of my interactions have been positive and efficient. The folks in customer service are kind, generous and non-judgmental. They make you feel valued and cared for. One of the keys to guaranteed success in this program (as I've found) is adding additional funds (when possible) to your monthly deposit. I've used the snowball method where I'm throwing as much additional income towards this program as possible. This has really been a big help and helps settlements happen faster. Folks, don't second guess yourself like I did when entering this program. It is well-worth it and you WILL be taken good care of! (Only downfall is that your credit score will take a hit but it's something that can be improved once your settlements are reached - my score jumped 20 points after my first settlement - brighter days are ahead!)

A great experience from day one, it is important to read and review everything they send. If necessary, reread all information again. They are experienced and tell you exactly what to expect and how everything is going to layout during the process. Debt to income ratio is the main determining factor when you apply for credit. Let me just say that Turnbull Law Group has made this an easy process for me. I had close to $20,000 in debt due to various reasons, such as job loss and poor health. After 1 year in the program all of my debts have been settled for a minimum of 50% less than what I owed. I haven't missed one payment and I am now down to just under $5000 left owed. To those that stated your credit score dropped...turnbull explains this to you in the beginning. Our experience with Turnbull has been a very positive one. We are one year into our four year program, and have been able to significantly increase our payments with the goal of ending the program early. Don’t be shocked after Turnbull negotiates your first settlement, and you see a chunk of the funds you’ve deposited go to then as a fee - Turnbull has been able to negotiate many of our accounts down to 50% or so of the balance that was due. They will take a fee with each settlement, but it is all calculated into the scheduled deposits so that you will never have a bill. There are better ways to get out of credit card, payday loan, or other debts, but this option is for those that are far enough down the debt road that the only other option is bankruptcy. Communication with Turnbull ha also been outstanding. I’ve never had any issues with getting a hold of anyone and getting any questions answered.

Poor Customer service. When legal representation was needed the appointed lawyer never returned questions in emails. Was not available even when a scheduled time was created by the company customer service. I had two court dates and never had papers filed with the court or anyone show up for me. When asked what to say in court, I was told that they were not lawyers and couldn't give legal advice but that a lawyer would contact me, but never did. Paid off one debtor in 14 months, for over 10,000 but paid them over 7, 000 to do it.

Fees are: 1) Settlement Fee=27% of each Settlement-$ to Firm first. 2) plus $9.95 a month to manage the online account, 3) plus $10 for EACH check they send your creditor--there is an agreement with a third party for the fee, and even though there are other options that would cost you $0 to send payment to credit--per the agreement you sign with the third party - they are NOT available to you! I tried working with both Turnbull and the 3rd part but got the run around, hung up on, called back only to be told 'we do the best option that saves you money'...its a crock. 4) If you remove Debts from the program because you settle on your own - your monthly payment remains the same.

The process was super easy and completely stress free. They take care of the debt collectors constantly calling and work with creditors to help reduce your debt to where it is more manageable. They really helped me get my credit back.
