Customer Review: Sagar from Seattle, WA

"I had researched about a lot of teeth aligner companies and finally went with Byte because of its most number of positive reviews. And, I'd say that I'm very happy with my choice. I can really see the results. The gaps in my teeth are almost gone. Their team is very responsive and they regularly checked in with me about my progress. I'd surely recommend Byte to anyone."

*This includes some reviewers who received a free gift in exchange for their honest opinions.

Simple and Straightforward Treatment Process

Byte's invisible aligners are clear plastic devices custom made to fit your teeth. Over time, each clear aligner will gradually shift your teeth, so you have straighter teeth and a straighter smile.

Using the at-home impression kit, consumers will use a molding putty and trays to make the impression of their teeth, and then they'll send those teeth impressions back to Byte using the supplied free pre-paid shipping box.

The molds from the impression you send back will generate an interactive 3D model of what your teeth look like, and what they will look like after treatment. Byte will then determine if they're a good candidate for an aligner treatment.

Byte’s aligners are designed to help people who need minor to moderate alignments. If you have crooked teeth, crowded teeth, or simply need a minor bite correction, Byte is an excellent option to get straight teeth.

If you're not a candidate for Byte, the company will refund you the full price of the Byte impression kit.

The molds are used to generate an interactive 3D model of what your teeth look like and what they will look like after treatment. Byte will then determine if you’re a good candidate for clear aligners.

The Byte team will also look at your pictures to decide on a plan that matches your facial structure. Byte evaluates your facial structure to help create your smile plan, using Smile Science. This is a detailed system created by Dr. Marashi who has worked with several well-known Hollywood stars. The Smile Science aims to ensure your smile looks symmetrical in comparison to your face.

You’ll have a chance to review the customized treatment plan and respond with any questions you may have.

Byte also guarantees your smile with the Byte for Life guarantee. That means that if your teeth move out of alignment after going through the Byte treatment, Byte will cover the cost to straighten them, no questions asked.

Not only do other companies charge customers for retainers to keep their teeth straight, but most companies also lack a lifetime guarantee.

Byte’s treatments are done without any office visits to a dentist or orthodontist, but customers should still see their dentist regularly to keep up with oral hygiene.

High Frequency Vibration Tool Included

The HyperByte device is the company's exclusive dental movement acceleration device. High frequency vibrations (HFV) uses soft micropulses that transmit through the roots of the teeth to the surrounding bone.

According to Byte, this type of therapy may reduce discomfort and better seat the aligners around the teeth. This may result in better aligner traction, more accurate teeth movement, and much faster treatment times.

Short Average Treatment Length

The clear aligner system is not only less expensive than traditional braces, but is often also faster. Though the duration of treatment will vary case-by-case as the treatment program depends on several factors, including the extent of the individual customer's alignment needs, Byte offers one of the quickest teeth straightening programs.

Consumers can also expect a faster treatment time if they're following Byte's recommended guidelines:

  • Wear the Byte invisible aligners as much as possible — only taking them out to eat or drink
  • Use the aligners on both the lower and upper teeth
  • Order replacement aligners immediately if one gets lost or damaged
  • Switch aligners every week

Because of the company's HyperByte technology, customers typically finish the program in four-to-five months.

Free Retainers, Whitening, and Cleaner

Very few invisible aligner providers include the value that Byte does. Byte offers free retainers to customers. Other invisible braces companies charge up to $99 for a pair of retainers that last only six months.

Byte also includes a bottle of BrightByte 3-in-1 premium teeth whitening foam, breath freshener, and teeth aligner cleaner for free. Because teeth alignment requires customers to wear aligners all day, Byte wants to help customers have a whiter, brighter smile at the same time.

Byte recommends cleaning the aligners immediately after taking them out to prevent them from looking cloudy or discolored. However, Byte advises customers to clean the aligners with the BrightByte whitening gel that acts as a teeth whitener/foam cleanser and not to use other whitening products as they can damage the aligners.

Byte also offers free shipping both ways on all packages sent and received.

Payment Options

There are a few different payment options. Customers can pay the full cost upfront or they can choose a monthly financing option through bytepay™, Byte’s all-new 100 percent guaranteed approval rate payment plan with no credit checks.

  • The one-time payment option is $1,895
  • The monthly option is an $82 monthly payment over 32 months — a $249 down payment is required

Unlike several other invisible aligner companies, Byte offers multiple financing options that are inclusive to all financial situations to get the best possible monthly payment. Or customers can finance their invisible aligners through Byte's financing partner, Affirm. Byte accepts all major debit and credit cards including Care Credit.

search

Highlight: Byte accepts multiple forms of payment, including dental insurance.

Customers can use their dental insurance, as well as their HSA or FSA debit card to pay for treatment.

Customers can also pay for their purchases with Splitit. Splitit is a global payment solution that allows shoppers to split the final cost into interest-free monthly payments. Currently, Byte offers 3 or 6-month payment options with Splitit. There is no application process with Splitit; customers receive instant approval using their existing debit/credit card level.

Byte-at-Night Option

Byte now offers a treatment plan in which customers only need to wear their aligners at night. This is a notable and exciting new offering, as many consumers don't love having to wear their aligners throughout the day, including having to take them out and clean them anytime they eat or drink anything besides water.

These at-night aligners are made with a grind-resistant polymer material and are slightly thicker than Byte's day-wear aligners. Consumers who go with this Byte-at-Night option will need to wear their nighttime aligners for a minimum of 10 continuous hours. This treatment plan also takes 2-3 months longer to complete compared to the all-day aligner plan. The at-night treatment plan is also slightly more expensive, costing a single payment of $2,295, or $99.56 per month (after a $449 deposit) if doing a monthly payment plan.

Byte now offers a military discount of $150 off for all active and retired military, along with discounts for first responders, and college students.

The Bad

  • Slightly Higher Prices

Slightly Higher Prices

The entire in-home invisible aligners industry is much cheaper than traditional metal braces, but there are price fluctuations within the industry itself.

Though Byte's monthly payment plan and free products included in the overall package are advantageous, the company's prices are slightly higher than other companies in the invisible aligners industry.

However, the price difference may be inconsequential given the great financing options and additional value.

gavel

The Bottom Line

The Byte for Life guarantee ensures that customers will have a straight smile for the rest of their lives (conditions apply). While some companies will offer a 30-day guarantee, they usually only cover the impression kit. Byte includes retainers, cleaner, and whitening products in its overall price, a perk not seen in many other invisible aligner companies.

Additionally, Byte does not require a downpayment on its monthly financing option through Affirm. Customers can also choose a monthly financing option at 0 percent APR through Byte’s various financing partners.

Another attractive feature of Byte's service is its HyperByte® device with high frequency vibration (HFV) technology, which may help speed up tooth movement and ease discomfort;* this device is included free as part of the treatment. *Preliminary clinical studies of small groups of users have shown that daily recommended use of a high-frequency seating device functionally equivalent to HyperByte with clear aligners may have this effect. Individual results may vary.

Byte customer reviews praise Byte's customer service team and many customers are pleased with how easy the entire straightening process is with Byte. Customers were also happy with the variety of payment options. Being able to pay upfront, through an HSA or FSA account, or by financing, is a huge plus for many consumers.

While Byte has slightly higher prices than several other invisible braces companies, we recommend customers use Byte because of the quality and range of service it provides, as well as the value of the time savings and convenience of receiving clear aligner treatment from home.

I'm giving it 3 stars because although customer service was very helpful, they should have their treatments work for overbites. I don’t want to get traditional braces.

Hi Kartlen, Thank you for your feedback. We understand the excitement of getting invisible aligners, but for our patients' health it is important that we only take mild to moderate cases. Sometimes a traditional method is necessary--which is why we refund your kit. We wish you the best on your journey to your new smile!

I liked the results of my aligners but I was originally told by Byte customer service that my insurance covered half. This is false. I know for a fact CIGNA does NOT cover any cost for these aligners, even if you have dental insurance. Once you have the aligners, customer service is non existent and will ghost all of your emails.

Byte is okay, it seems comparable to other services like smile direct. The hyper byte, although no research has been done by myself, is great if it really works to cut time on treatment. Contacted them for promised whitening which I still have not received, there were other discounts available I was not made aware of, they would not let me alter my treatment after they shipped it and I am kinda worried about their guarantee but I have not been able to test it out yet. It does not seem like they take care of the back of your teeth but you should be able to get a decent smile!

I was impressed at first but my teeth did not move hardly at all even after 12 weeks. It took nearly 6 weeks to get my new aligners & another 15 week treatment plan. I think it is unrealistic to expect to see results in 3 months if you have crowding. Also, it takes a week before you hear back from anyone which is not good. It is still to be seen if this will work without a dentist looking at my teeth every 2 weeks. I should have had new adjusted trays probably in month 2 because my teeth were not moving properly so the aligners didn’t fit.

Unorganized. Just received my second set of aligners that I was told I was not going to receive because they needed new impressions done. Asked about them and was told oh yea I guess that order went through. This second set came in a flimsy box with no explanation as to why I have more aligners than originally planned. This on top of my original aligners being mailed to the wrong address.

Overall, I've seen a difference in my teeth after 15 weeks. However, I did have to get 14 extra revision aligners because the first plan wasn't working out. I did not wear my aligners during the waiting time of the new aligners getting ready, so it did hurt a lot when I tried on the new aligners. So far, I'm used to the pain but in the beginning it was unbearable.

Byte has been responsive and helpful. The molds were very easy to complete and mail in. My aligners arrived in the time frame that was advertised. So far the process has been easy enough (I am using the night time option). I am 3/4ths of the way through and am out of my top aligners so have reached out to my support person at byte who is supposed to correct this.

I don’t have anything horrible to say, but I have not been 100% satisfied. I needed to get my aligners replaced about halfway into my treatment, which I did not know would take 4-6 weeks also. Also, since you have to stay on the current step until the new aligners come in, I ended up misplacing one of my aligners. I was told that there was nothing they could do to replace them until my refinements come in. In addition, I did not know that although I completed 7 weeks of my original 13 week treatment plan, when I received my refinement aligners they were for another 12 weeks. I was not aware of this beforehand. However, I do give them 3 stars for the price and the short treatment plan(assuming you would be able to finish straight through), hyperbyte which helps with uncomfortably, and the byte for life guarantee that has you covered. Overall, it would be nice to have more direction and better communication, as I received my updated aligners and I’m still not 100% satisfied with how my smile is coming along or the communication either via email or on their website of the process for getting refinement aligners.

I am hoping for the best result, the actual changing of teeth positioning process is slow. The support team always answers my questions right away and they seem helpful. Maybe some aspects of this are out of their control. I started about 6 weeks ago and have not seen too much of a difference yet but I am hopeful. My daughter had a great result.

So far customer service is great but the overall fitting has been a hot mess. It's taken 3 months of process/refinements. Upset it's taken 9+ months even though it was supposed to be a 3.5 journey.

My aligners are working, that's the point of treatment. However, the follow-up and communication needs improvement. The customer is left to remember to follow-up on additional aligners and retainers. Customers should be responsible for following all treatment directions but Byte should be responsible to ensure timely care and follow up calls to the customer so that there are no gaps in the treatment. Whether ordering additional aligners or retainers a Byte rep should reach out notifying the customer that it's time for the next step. My experience, proactive customer follow up is not a priority. This is disappointing.

I received friendly service from Byte thus far I am a little disappointed because my initial treatment plan was 17 weeks and at the end of the initial treatment my teeth were not as straight as expected. I then was sent a second set of aligners for a treatment plan that is 13 weeks. The good news is that there was no charge for the second set of aligners the bad news is that the second set of aligners required training and we’re not scalloped like the initial set

Getting my aligners was a frustrating process. I was excited to start so I sent my impressions back the day after receiving them. I then waited weeks without hearing anything. They said they lost my impressions so then sent me not one, but two more impressions kits. While these kits were on the way to me they somehow found my initial impressions. This set me Back almost a month. Once I started they worked very well and I have been very satisfied. What I didn’t know is that I needed 19 aligners and they only send the first 15 in the initial shipment. So now I have completed my first 15 weeks and am now set back another 3 weeks while I wait for my final aligners to arrive again. The product works great but I am not a fan of the service. Also, making a sexual innuendo about a vibrator on their website just seems outright unprofessional to me.

It is very new for my preteen son. I wish that they plan was written out in black and white. I like that each week is marked on the aligners. I have a telephone call with the orthodontist on a Saturday evening at 7:30 P. M. After the treatment is complete I can give it more stars possibly. I do not understand why my son only had to wear the aligners on his upper for 14 weeks (his upper have a small gap between the two from teeth) his lower calls for 17 weeks and I'm not sure why? His lower teeth look extremely straight with zero gaps. I curious to see what the orthodontist has to say on the phone conference. I had to wait two weeks to speak with him/her.

I'm halfway through my treatment plan and am happy with the convenience of the at-home impression kit and treatment. However, my aligners didn't fit quite right (there was a gap between the aligner and the back of my teeth) so I reached out to the Byte team on day one. It took about two weeks to get through their multi-step support process and to send another impression kit. I'm currently in the 4-6 week waiting period to manufacture new aligners, during which time I was told to pause my progression. Given their advertisement of finishing treatment in 12 weeks, adding on another 2 months is a significant setback. I understand that the aligner fit could have been user error with the impression kit, but I can't imagine I'm the only one with this issue, so I'm surprised at how long it took to diagnose the problem and that there's no prioritization of aligner manufacturing for those who are mid-treatment.

As it is your teeth, and an investment, we want to make sure we're providing you with the best care and quality possible to ensure we can get you on track to that desired result. There are times that an anatomy may not agree with the movement, and may be stubborn- it happens to us all, and that's why our doctor-directed team remains available to you to make sure we are getting you to where you need to be. Happy to clarify further. Send us an email, let's get you an update :)

So far so good, I have worn the aligners for 13 weeks and one of my teeth wasn't moving and I called them up and they got another impression of my teeth and sent out a new box of 12 week worth of aligner but it turned out that they were wrong. I wear a thicker aligner for nighttime use only, need to wear them for a minimum of 10 hours but the new set were thin and were for the whole day wearing. At least 22 hours of wearing. I called them up and told them that I paid more for the night set and set them pictures show how much thicker my old set was compare to the new set. They investigated what went wrong and agree they new set was wrong so at this point they are rushing the new set. They said it would take about 4-6 weeks but today after only 2 days another set came and it turned out to be yet another copy of the last bad set. They said the night set should still come in 4 - 6 weeks and are investigating why I got two bad sets of aligner. I did like the first set and it has made my teeth look better.

Originally my smile was supposed to take 16 weeks. Ended up getting another 15 weeks of refinement retainers. I ran out of the foam cleaner after the first 16 weeks and they wouldn’t send a complimentary bottle for the next 15 weeks.

Madelyn ,

I’m not done with my treatment process yet. It’s taking longer than I expected, and I have to take a second round of impressions. However, I’m quite satisfied with the fast responses of the customer service staff. Any time I have any concerns or questions, they get back to me right away. And I appreciate knowing that they will work to get my alignment just right. Hoping to give 5 stars once my treatment is finally done!

The first set of aligners didn’t fit my teeth. I went with it because I thought it was supposed to be painful. I got to week 7 and my last lower aligner wasn’t even complete. They took forever to send me new ones. I kept trying to wear them and suffered waking up with blood in my top aligners every morning. Visited a dentist they said it wasn’t normal and weren’t supposed to be more painful than braces. I tried getting new ones made customer service seemed to help then I haven’t heard anything since then or received new aligners I can’t wear the aligners because they make my teeth/gums bleed.

I have already seen drastic changes in the position of my teeth. The only downsides have been realizing that my teeth weren't progressing as needed and having to backtrack a few weeks (which may be to be expected, but I wish there were more consistent check-ins so it could've been caught sooner), my aligners are not symmetrical (don't cover as many teeth on the righthand side as the left), and the BrightByte doesn't seem to work that well. I was told that the BrightByte was meant to be gentle so the changes in whiteness occur slowly, but some days I even feel like my teeth look yellower, like maybe it whitens but makes it more sensitive to staining from things like coffee immediately after. I started brushing three times a day instead of two with whitening toothpaste instead. As for the asymmetry, I did inquire about it before the aligners were shipped, misunderstood the response, and once they were sent it was too late! I have mild TMJ so I'm a little concerned I will unevenly wear down the side not covered by the aligners and when I start with a new set of aligners, there is always some discomfort at first due to the asymmetrical shape. But I have to say: customer service is great and I'm glad the technology has advanced enough to eliminate the need for metal braces. I've been waiting a long time for this! Also, I love the packaging because it makes it easy to store everything and keep it organized for when I need it later. I'm very excited to see the final results.

Great customer service in the beginning, and when I had a problem, continued great customer service. The one problem is there's nothing on their website about what to do if you have gaps between your teeth and the aligners.

Not seeing much if any change as of week 5. When emailing advisor about extending Week 4 for more than 7 days, no response.

I feel when all is done I will be satisfied with the results! My issues have been the first round of aligners split, making me have to wait and start over with a second set. This makes the treatment time go from 3mns to 9. :( Support is helpful when you can correspond with the SAME rep, with is rare. They are knowledgeable and I wish they would call or text so you can explain your issues. In the end, I think I will be happy, but it is taking way too long!

The only issues I have with byte is their customer service. When you are first interested in getting aligners the customer service is great. They will email you and text you within 3 minutes of you contacting them. But ones you pay your $1800 or if you are going the credit route They will disappear. And good luck with calling them. I emailed them a few times and quickest response time for me was 3 weeks. But beyond the horrible customer service everything is great packaging is above and beyond and they offer great products to go along with your treatment plan such as brightbyte a tooth whitening foam, hyperbyte, and more the whiting foam they give you does not really work. Overall, it is a Great product! Easy to use and well made.
