Basically, I am a new customer. Unfortunately, I have had 2 services calls first month, not planned as I had a contract with Choice Home Warranty prior and would have alleviated any issues with them. In each case Select has paid the bare minimum. The second was for a motor for my heater and I filed claim on a Monday. Weds they asked for pictures and service records and on Friday without explanation of what was wrong they paid $150. Heating and Cooling issues allows for $500 for first 3 months of relationship per section 10.1 of my contract, but they used 9.1.2 as a way out . Basically, the third individual I spoke to Ron a "supervisor " said you have only been with us a month" so clearly this was an issue with Select. I appealed to all 3 reps I spoke with Gil, Vic and Ron that this is a customer sat issue as my family and I sat in a cold house for 4 days awaiting their decision. Ron "graciously" offered me an additional, $25 as a "courtesy" for the 40 minutes I spent explaining to 3 people who could care less so get to pay $340. Should have stayed with Choice as Select doesn't prioritize customer satisfaction.

Run from this horrible company!! I bought Select in March when we bought our home. The oven went out 8/8/2020 and they sent out two people wearing flip flops, ragged shorts and tank top. We paid the 75.00 and never heard again. After repeated calls they sent out someone else and another $75. Never heard back and more repeated calls. Finally they sent email 10/21 stating I could repair/buy a new oven for $250.00. Well 250 will not buy a wall oven. "Barry" the supervisor said it was because of depreciation of the oven. WHAT! When I asked to speak with his supervisor he said he didn't have one. Yeah right!! Next our dishwasher went out 9-23-2020 and we are still waiting for someone to come see about fixing that. Run from this horrible company. They will only lie to you and never fix anything!! If i could get negative stars I would!

DO NOT BUY THIS IF YOU OWN A TRANE HVAC!! We purchased the best warranty SHW offered and when our AC acted up Select Home used a contractor that wasn't familiar with Trane equipment. They reported that the problem was dirty coils. We tried to work with them and all they responded was that's what the contractor said. We had this 4 year old unit serviced twice a year and it had been serviced less than 2 months before they looked at it. After talking to another contractor he gave us the name of a contractor that works almost exclusively with TRANE. $1000.00 OUT OF OUR POCKET for the labor, parts were under warranty. and our TRANE is fixed. I would not reccomend Select Home Warranty. This was the first time we had ever used them and now I know why the kept offering us deal, extra months, lower call out prices etc. I am so disappointed in them and now I am even leery about buying a policy from any of these home warranty companies. FYI am also reporting them to the BBB and our States Attorney General. I believe I have enough evidence of mal practice.

There is no less than zero stars so one will have to do. I have the “Platinum Care” with optional coverage for five years. That plan cost me $2599.99. I made two claims about a month later. One for a 15 year old dryer (about that old) and an ice maker on a three year old refrigerator. There were a few issues right off the bat, however both claims were resolved. Fast forward to 2020, and none of my claims have been resolved. I made a claim on my Whirlpool dishwasher purchased in 2016 and an older ceiling fan, in addition to a cracked toilet tank this week. In every case I was refused repair. They kept parroting the clause iii in section Eight. And only if I paid for the repairs or replacement myself, sent them proof of the invoice. In total they decided that I would get a total of $350 for everything. Which meant the $45 deductible for each item was already paid, and I am responsible for the difference. I could go on and on about this company but I will save it for the Attorney General’s office in New Jersey. My advice is to do a little more research and RUN DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THESE PEOPLE

I would not recommend this company at all! The company they sent the technician couldn't open my dryer to fix it. It has been 5 days and the dryer is still not fixed. Select Home Warranty says they are waiting for the claim. I have given Select Home Warranty the reference number of the claim from the company. I have to wait 2 days for them to let me know any information even with the reference number. Yes, I also had problems with my washer. The washer they are saying is to much to be fix and will give me $250.00 toward a new one. How is $250.00 going to get me a like appliance of the one I have?

SCAMMERS!! They will not pay for anything in full. According to their policy, everything you have is significantly depreciated and will only cover a fraction of what it cost. They pay the "depreciated" value for the parts and you have to pay for the labor. According to SHW, my $900 clothes dryer of 2 years only cost $175 after depreciation so they can't cover the replacement cost of a wiring harness. And they agreed to pay $250 for a $620 AC unit repair after fighting with them for over a year. They also said the AC unit going out is not considered an emergency and their technicians can only get to my house in 3-4 days. I explained to them this is in the middle of a Texas summer with over 100 degrees outside and I have a toddler and someone with asthma in my house, and they still didn't care. No one in their company is helpful when you call and they will keep transferring you until you give up. If you get one of their managers to call you back, they will call you 2 days later and let it ring 2 times and hang up. By the time I grabbed my phone out of my pocket to answer, they had hung up, and when i called back right away, it went to customer service and they said a manager called and i didn't answer. STAY AWAY FROM THEM!! THEY WILL NOT PAY OR FIX ANYTHING!

Stay away. Go to multiple website surveys and you will get the real picture of what type of company they are. Cliff notes, filed a claim, told they couldn’t find a technician and I’d have to find one on my own & I’d be reimbursed in 30 days. I found one with one phone call. Provided a detail estimate from the service company for $174. After 5 phone calls over two weeks and getting the same response every time that someone would get back to me after 24-48 hours I gave up and canceled my contract. The last rep I spoke to was rude and refused to let me speak to a manager. I emailed a executive customer service manager who had sent me a welcome email when I signed up, and as expected he did not reply. Bottom line, I paid Select $139 for the month and a half I was with them, and I paid the $174 to repair our dryer. They are out to scam you so do your due diligence and check many different website reviews, including Yelp. I’ve read other reviews that are exactly the same experience I received.

I purchased a 5 year plan which was $2200. It will end in 2025. I’ve had a few claims and they always find a way not to cover. This company is a total rip off. Be aware. Last straw was my fridge- I called and they told to get my own tech cause they couldn’t find one that was available it cost $189 and I submitted for refund and they said since I got my own tech they would not reimburse. I had to buy a new fridge and they said since it was the seal that was not covered in policy I told them I was going to cancel and they sent me a check for $1.84 I called and they said there was a cancellation fee and that’s all I was getting back Terrible customer service do not use this company

I submitted for a home warranty in April 2020 and due to a problem with the tech they sent to my house in May, I called to cancel my warranty. After a lengthy conversation on July 9, I was told I would be receiving my refund, minus whatever per diem for the month and a few days. I had policies, one on my main home and one on my carriage house above my garage. At the end of July I received a check for the Carriage house but not for my main house. I called and spoke to: Jeff on 7/21 and he told me I would hear back in 48 hours Ron on 8/27 and he told me I would hear back in 48 hours Rex on 8/31 and he told me I would hear back in 48 hours Rex on 9/8 and he told me it would be a minimum of 30 days until I receive my check. I asked for his Supervisor and he could not connect me, or give me their phone number. He said Trish would call me in 30 minutes to an hour. This is the worst customer service I have ever received from a company in my life. They keep putting you off and feel it is OK to MISLEAD you. The check I am owed is over $1300.00. At 71 years old, that is a chunk of money for me to be waiting this long for.

UPDATED: If I could give a negative star, I would. The customer service was stellar...until I paid in full. The moment I had to place a claim, I realized that you absolutely get what you pay for. The support was dreadful, they found loop holes to justify not covering my claim, I was lied to and ignored by multiple customer support people. It has been now months that I have been cycled through the "retention department" where they told me what I wanted to hear and then disappeared (no answer to phone calls or emails). The "manager" I spoke to today had zero empathy for my experience over the past few months and they have the audacity to charge a cancelation fee as I am terminating my contract. After all that I have been through, they couldn't cover the $75 fee? Worst customer experience(s) I have ever had. This was a hard and expensive lesson to learn. ORIGINAL REVIEW: I have been with American Home Shield for 9 years and never even shopped their competitors. I was prompted to do so as I am buying a vacation (2nd) home and asked AHS if there were any possible discounts on the 2nd contract, especially given my loyalty. The answer was a firm no. I did a google search and saw that Select was rated very highly and decided to call. I was very fortunate to land in the hands of Richard Zoneenee, who treated me like a longstanding customer and friend, especially when I expressed trepidation in making such a big change. He blew me away with his customer service, with the price and available discounts, and his quick action on setting me up as a new (super happy) customer. Richard went above and beyond and I am now paying less than half of what I was paying at AHS for my primary home and 40% less than what I was quoted for my 2nd home. WOW. As a cherry on top, Richard informed me that I can call or email him any time. I have never had a personal contact at AHS, and that is a difference maker! Of course the proof will be in the pudding when I need to make a service request, but I am sending his info to all my favorite people and happy to refer Select just based off of this initial experience. 5 STARS!

OK so where do I start, It takes over a week in order to get anything fixed or repaired. And more than likely it will not be covered, this is coming out of the mouth of the technician. Apparently they rarely pay their technicians. They are a total scam. It takes two days after you file in order for somebody to even start to find a technician to fix your issue, then the issue gets diagnosed then it takes another two days in the diagnosis process to be approved, then you have to wait to be rescheduled again for the tech to come out if it’s approved. I paid for this warranty upfront for a year and it was one of the worst things that I could’ve done. Don’t be fooled by the great actual customer service after you’ve bought the policy and try to use it, that’s where all the problems begin!!!!

This is a warning for everyone - do not sign up for Select Home Warranty. They will induce you to sign for their warranty service offering you deals but find a different one. They are horrible - I place a claim for leak on April 2020 and they have sat on it for 4 months. After 4 months I called an independent technician who fixed the leak coming from a broken control valve from our washer located on our second floor. Prior to this we were told that if we can't wait for their service, we can find our own and they will reimburse. When the fix was completed and we sent the invoice - Select Home Warranty said that it's not covered so we have to pay for our $500 bill. So you better make sure you get a home warranty that is recommended by BBB otherwise you will be in dilemma like we did. Company like Select Home Warranty should be banned from operating and scamming people - Ed C - Clovis, CA

Horrible service and very poor customer service. Purchased a agreement with this scam company for 3 years protection plan. They have denied me to fix, repair or replace my 3 times I have asked them to service the appliances that were not working. No assistance for a gas stove, had to fix it and send them a bill and fight for them to honor their coverage. No assistance for a ceiling fan and no assistance for a gas hot water heater. They heater was making a noise and they do not cover a noise issue even though the repair company they send suggested it be replaced because its 12 years old and not working properly thus making the popping sound inside the water tank. Complete scam company DO NOT fall for their fake advertisement like I did. Request a copy of their contract BEFORE you give them any money. In the fine print you will see that they really don't fix anything because of the COVERAGE RULE 9.1.2. I did not see the contract until they sent me a copy 10 days after paying for the useless coverage, and did not see it completely as I should. Totally my mistake so please check them out and save yourself some heart burn and a total waist of money.

this is my first time dealing with Select Home Warranty after buying a house. I opened a claim for a clogged kitchen sink. After waiting for several days, I was told that no service providers were available. I was then told to secure my own repairman and had preauthorization for repairs of $100. When I asked what vendors they had called ( so that I wouldn't call the same vendors) they could not answer. After finding a repairman I submitted the paid receipt and have waited for 3 weeks with no response from Select. I called Select today to get status and was told that I needed to send in a hard copy of the invoice. " to take a snapshot on my phone and email it to them" A request to speak to a supervisor was ignored. This company has been a major disappointment in the handling of a simple claim. I seriously have doubts that they will pay on this claim. Seems like a stall tactic to me.
