Began having problems with our AC.... Called Select,,,, took 4 days to get someone here... tech showed up... checked system... determined that the blower motor was beginning to fail... he would have to order a new one... this was on a Thursday.... Friday nothing.... sat/Sun nothing....Monday nothing.... now I dont mean to complain, but when your in Arizona and its between 115 and 117... you really need AC.... Tuesday we call the service company to find out they haven't received an approval yet....Call Selective.... they have a back log !!!! now they want me to climb up in the attic and take pictures of the unit !!! Its presently 116 degrees.. so what maybe 125/130 in the attic? If I could get up there I would fix it myself !!!... they are just competely horrible... avoid selective like they are the virus !!!!

The 1st time I needed service, it took a couple of weeks to get a plumber. I told them that the problem wasn't resolved. I was told there would be another deductible. They never reassigned it. So I hav ANOTHER deductible. Now, the washer need repaired. I have been waiting since July 26th. They can't seem to find a service tech and told me to find my own tech and have them give an estimate! Of course, it as to be authorized if it costs more than $100!!! This is my son's home, but I paid up front for a 1 yr contract. If I was paying monthly - I would have dumped them immediately! I have American Home Shield on my homes ( I have 2) and have used it on each of thm with no problem whatsoever! I highly recommend them! SELECTS SERVICE STINKS!

This is the worst home warranty company ever somehow I keep writing reviews And I get deleted I was having an issue with my ACI paid $75 for diagnostic.. And the diagnostic results was fraudulent so they won't have to pay for the repair their Tech stated I have a freon Leak which I do not have. one month prior to them coming out my AC was serviced and everything was fine.. immediately after I got there Denial letter I called someone out they came 3 days later and made a report stating no Leak they to pressure readings and provided me with pictures. I called shield and asked for them to review their techs notes And refuse to pay for the repairs refused to give me their address and the # 2 legal department... And Lewis refused to give me any of that information I asked to speak to a manager he said he was at lunch and then he proceeded to tell me he is a trained manager/supervisor Either you're a manager or you're not I tried to go online to find their address I could not I call customer service and they can even find their dress on their own website... I've already had my air conditioning fixed with my detailed report and pictures to rebut their fraudulent diagnosis... I wonder how many other people they have done this too.. People run May I suggest American home warranty.

BUYER BEWARE! I bought this warranty in good faith from the sales rep with the promise that all things I needed covered were fully covered with this warranty. And with a co-pay of $45 per claim. They only cover certain amounts. They are truly just a discount plan that discounts the cost of repairs when they go over a low $ amount. You are on the hook for the remainder. When I spoke to customer service they said that was the cap and they have caps on all things based on the life of the plan so they basically don't lose money with what I have paid. My issue was my well pump system, with a repair cost of $975. They will only pay $400. When you read the contract carefully (I didn't because I trusted my sales rep and read the coverage section which clearly showed all things that were pertinent to me were covered. No mention of caps until you scroll down several pages. It says "For heating or cooling equipment appliances, plumbing and electrical(non-heating or cooling) the repair/replacement coverage is selected allowance is as an option $500. For the limit additional coverage options the repair/replacement allowance is $400." Technically a well is plumbing which means per the contract it should be capped at $500. They refuse to honor this and I cannot afford to pay to have it fixed thru them. I already gave them $1560 for a 3-year plan. When I told him the rep mispresented the plan to me and I wanted all my money back he said they cannot do that. They will pro-rate, take out the costs of anything they have paid (for the guy to come out and diagnose the problem) and then take a $75 fee. This is a BAD plan BUYER BEWARE!!!

our 3 out of 4 burners have not been working... call July 7...guy comes out... this is the second time he's come to our house for a claim and hasn't done anything. He's here for about 5 min. Says he's gonna get us a new stove cuz it's cheaper than fixing each individual burner. He tells me he's gonna call the next morning to the home warranty. I pay him my service call fee. I kept getting emails asking if anyone has been out. I contact him 3 days later on Friday, asking if he called. He said he called today, even tho he was supposed to call wed right away. I waited a week, called company and they need him to provide full diagnosis. They've called him, can't get ahold of him. I text him telling him he needs to get them the full diagnosis asap. I wait a week, call company. Still didn't receive full diagnosis. They can't get ahold of him still. Now at this point I'm fuming. It is now July 30. I called them yesterday snapping and said you need to get someone else out here, I'm not paying another service call fee cuz this guy that you hired, stole my money and hasn't done anything, or I'm canceling. This is ridiculous. When we had hsa in Wisconsin, they went thru sears and we never had a problem. I'm beyond irritated with this company. I don't understand after the numerous calls I've made complaining I'm still waiting, why they wouldn't try sending someone else out here for free since this guy isn't doing his job. They need to stop working with daltons plumbing. He came out the first time, our shower was leaking. He cuts a hole in the wall before trying to figure out the problem. Doesn't see a leak. Is gone within 10 min and we had to fix the hole ourselves. Ridiculous

Not good! Two claims - zero resolved! First one in place for over two weeks. First technician thought leak was fixed. Still leaking, called SHW to report problem not fixed. Took several calls to get right authorization to tech (recall work order vice work order). No news after tech visit, called SHW and told will receive email with status in morning . Nothing, had to call SHW and told yes authorization sent. Second claim for water heater, which tech came out same time with the recall order. Heater leaking and tech said needs replaced. This was on Tuesday. Called on Wednesday to check on status and told have answer in morning. Called Thursday, authorization under manager review. Called Friday, same answer, under manager review. Called Saturday, authorization under manager review. No managers working over the weekend, so Monday would be soonest to get answer. Been without hot water for over week and really don't have good idea on when we'll have hot water again. This is first year with SHW and has been real DISAPPOINTING thus far.

These people blatantly stiffed me on a very common water heater failure, based on weasel words " we only cover water heater failure not a leaking water heater"...WTF!!!! last I heard a water heater fails when its pissing water all over your floors and carpet uncontrollably. Nothing but another rip off company taking your hard earned money waiting to stiff you when you call for services you paid for. So don't be fooled by appearances of being a reputable company because they are not. I would ad that the 8 dollar an hour people you speak with at Select seem to be nice kids, but they have sold their soul to work for a scammer business. Firing them today and going with CHOICE.

Our plane process started first thing Monday morning. Got a case number immediately and was referred to a technician to come look at our air conditioner. I called the technician and he advised me the soonest he can come to look at my unit is on Wednesday. He informed me that he does not have time for warranty work, but they still send his information out. He was gracious enough to work me in. He came Wednesday morning looked at my unit sent in a request for authorization from Select Home Warranty. Thursday afternoon, he has still heard nothing from select home warranty. I have called them and they advised me this authorization process can take 24 to 48 hours. We are going into the weekend which means I will probably still not have air conditioner by Friday. I will have gone a whole week without the repair work done to my air conditioner in 97° heat. Completely unacceptable!

It is the middle of July with temps in mid to high 90’s. I submitted a claim on Monday and quickly received the name of an AC company to reach out to for the repair. Heard nothing from him towards the end of the day so I reached out to him. He advised me that he doesn’t know why they keep submitting his name for repairs because he is back logged with his own clients. I thought it was a mere Freon issue so he Walden Heating and air kindly wIrked me in on Wednesday morning. Troy submitted the claim for confirmation of blower to be replaced. 24 hours later he has not received confirmation. I called to try to expedite and was told they are very busy and don’t know when it will be reviewed. 4 days and still not repaired. Very unacceptable!

Absolutely the worst warranty company out there. DO NOT USE THEM!!! They go out of their way to research so they can deny claims. Their call center is in Asia. They took 2 weeks to get back to me on our air conditioner claim when it was over 100 degrees in TX. The technician that we called because theirs couldn't even come out for a week did everything possible to save money but it was a Carrier product and had to be replaced with carrier product. The bill was over $1000 and what did Select Warranty pay??? $150!!!! I feel like we were LIED to from the sales person that sold us this policy. They have a 30 day waiting period (standard for most warranty companies) but they don't tell you that they have a sliding scale if your item needs replacement, you almost have to wait 6 months to receive their full reimbursement. Everything is such an issue!!

STAY AWAY from this Company. They are the WORST. They say they will resolve your issue within 48 business day hours but that is a bald faced lie. I have been waiting 10 days not for a leak under my kitchen sink to be fixed and I STILL have not had this issue resolved. We had our kitchen sink start leaking July 3, ok so the business days don't start until July 6 but still no contact number from them for a plumber July 6 or 7th. By end of day July 8, I have to call them and see why they haven't delivered this contact info as promised. Only after I call them do I get someone to actually send me this information, 5 days after my initial claim was submitted. THEN after the plumber actually comes over and assesses that we need a new garbage disposal, we are told that it will take another 2 days to get approval for this part. I mean, it's cut and dry. We purchased a home warranty, this part is covered and therefore the part should be approved. How long does it take to simply get an approval? After 48 business day hours, once again, they don't call me. So by end of day on the 10th, they tell me that, not to worry, they will get me the approval by end of day. Again, another bald faced lie. No information, no approval, no nothing. By the 13th, my kitchen sink has been leaking for 10 days now. I have to put towels and buckets down to catch the water. I called them and was put on hold for a half an hour just to then get an answering machine. I called them back, was transferred to 3 different people in customer service who would do nothing other than pass me to another service agent who, once again did nothing to help me and pass me along to yet another person in circles and circles with no help. I had to call this company and be on the phone with them for 2 hours and still, the best they can do is tell me to wait longer for a manager to call me. I have no idea if anyone actually even will and they are already late at this point. This company is the WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE I have ever experienced. DON'T get a policy from them unless you are ok waiting indefinitely for an issue to be resolved. I don't know what is wrong with them. They clearly can't or won't do their jobs. I'm cancelling this policy as soon as this issue is resolved. They can pay for this one at least

Signed up in December. Filed a claim for spa with leak, even though was told all components are covered (including water lines)... Told leak not covered. So switched that optional coverage over to my water heater after finding out tankless w.h. not covered. Then they blamed the pandemic on not being able to find a technician, and was told I could find one on my own and would be reimbursed... For what? First of all service fee that would be normally $45 could be well over $150 that wouldn't be covered. Plus I found out they don't cover parts??? After reading other horror stories hear and here about fine print technicalities not covered and long wait times, waiting on hold on the phone to try to resolve / find out about canceling, sent to escalation, got hung up on. Yes Hung Up on. Was the last straw. I don't think I should have to pay for 5 months of nothing (they wanted to pro-rate) and said they'd send a check. Check never came. Had it with this bogus operation. Going t8hrough credit card company I used to pay for this sham to dispute charge since SHW did nothing.

I called about my microwave oven. It wasn't working right. They checked the year of the serial and model number and told me I could get a reimbursement check and replace it for a total of $95.00. Not too sure where I can find one for that amount to match what I had. I guess that was better than nothing.

We chose to work with Select Home Warranty based on their positive reviews we read. We purchased a full home warranty plan one year ago to cover our entire home. A few months after purchasing the plan our heater broke so we contacted SHW for coverage. They sent a mechanic to look at the unit who had no understanding of the issue. We decided to call another professional heating service provider who fixed the issue quickly and charged less than SHW. We tried to get a reimbursement from SHW which took two months of back and forth and only happened when I threatened to cancel my service with them. After 3 months, we had another issue, this time with the A/C. We called our technician again who came to fix the issue. We sent the statement to SHW for reimbursement only to be told that this wasn't covered under the warranty, despite it clearly being covered. Then, last week we had another issue with a leak in our water heater. Again, we called a professional plumber who came to fix it the same day. When we sent the bill back to SHW for reimbursement, they again told us this wasn't covered because leaks with water heaters didn't qualify. After three consecutive cases, it's clear that SHW is running a scam and not reimbursing for services that are clearly covered under their policy. The representative will speak very nicely with you but make sure there are no results at the end. Stay away from this company if you want quality home warranty coverage

I honestly don't have any more time to give to this company, so I will keep it short here and move on. DO NOT PROTECT YOUR HOME WITH SELECT HOME WARRANTY!!! I had two homes with them protected for 3 years and had to cancel both after a year when I realized nothing is going to change with them. They will give you more headaches than peace of mind when it's time to filing a claim or reimbursement. Worst off, it that when I called to cancel, they kept hanging up the call on me, I had to call multiple times, they refused to disclose my refund balance and said a billing agent will follow up with me later. Long story short, they tried to steal my balance to force me not to cancel, but it was not worth it anymore so I still canceled.

I had a Select Home Warranty policy for around 2 years. I got it specifically for piece of mind if my AC unit needed repair or replacement. 6 days ago my unit stopped working. I called and could barely understand the rep. on the phone. I ended up waiting 2 days before an AC guy came out. He then charged me $60 and told me that the repairs (electrical issue with the compressor ) would have to be approved. I waited another 2 days before I received an email informing me that they did not cover electrical issues. If you don't cover electrical and don't cover Freon then you don't cover AC units. . Now I have to pay another company to come out and they are saying my AC needs replacing. I feel like this company just collects fees and has no intention on ever covering anything that you need a home warranty to cover. Dont waste your money. Wish I could given then negative stars.

There is nothing good about this company. I took out this policy in December 2019. I filed a claim on May 19, 2020 for an air conditioner not working. They did not have technician to send and I was told to find my own. I did and the compressor is bad. I still do not have a resolution. Every time I call I am told it is with the authorizations department and I will receive an email within 24-48 hours. I was asked for pictures and service records on 6/11/20. I sent pics and told the agency that I did not have service records. It was noted and still nothing, not even a denial. I have been hung up on multiple times and even had a supervisor talk very rudely. The supervisor said the contract stated we needed service records and we violated. I explained the contract stated they would provide a technician, so they were in violation as well. The supervisor said he would give us $250. We told him we wanted to talk with someone about cancellation and a refund. He said someone would call us back. Of course that didn’t happen. We called back and inquired about a refund. We were told the amount they would refund. We asked to speak to another manager because that amount was unacceptable. We got hung up on again. We called back and was told our policy had been canceled. We stated we did not cancel, we only inquired. They said, “ that’s not what is written here.” We have been unable to get anyone else on the phone since then without getting hung up on. We are returning to American Home Shield.

Buyer Beware! After submitting a claim it was over 8 hours before anyone contacted me and only then by email. The email only stayed that I would receive technician information within 48 hours. Also they do not cover installation of parts required. When I purchased my policy sales did not bother to inform me there would be an additional hold period for the start date to my policy for payment to clear. Their website states receipt if payment which was taken right then. This company is misleading in every aspect. If you want repairs done quickly or at all you won't get that here. Cancelling my policy.
