Paid to have a Home Warranty with this Company. Filed a claim on a defective water heater and was denied repairs. Had to uy a new hot water heater myself (So much for he home Warranty). Filed a claim last month with circuit breaker issues in my electrical panel. Select Home Warranty send out a electrical company to check. Electrician told me that my whole electric box needs replaced as one of the circuit breakers was shorting out. after almost a month with numerous calls to Select Home Warranty I was told the claim would cover $200 of a $3,000 cost of replacement for the panel. This is the worst Home Warranty Company that I could have imagined. Their customer care is a joke. Most useless company I have ever dealt with. They will wiggle their way out of any claim you file with them, but are sure happy to get their monthly payment from me.

My Select Home Warranty Policy #: 1506958 This review is related to my most recent claim Claim #: 01608825 My 2.5-year-old Fegor refrigerator broke and the repair cost was about $600. The refrigerator new was over $2,500 in 2018. Instead of repairing it Select Home Warranty ("SHW") offered me a cash reimbursement in the amount of $200. I informed SHW that this is not fair as the depreciated value of this unit if over $1,000 and repair cost is about $600. I called SHW customer service number and spoke with two agents. One of them stated that you SHW cannot pay more because I was a customer for only 4 months. MY EXPERIENCE IS THAT SHW DOES NOT REPAIR OR REPLACE APPLIANCES. THEY OFFER MAXIMUM $200 FOR EACH REPAIR INCIDENT. TO CANCEL THE POLICY OR RECIVE A REFUND FROM THEM IS PRACTICALLY

I obtained Platinum Home Warranties for both my homes this year, the price was decent, and I thought the coverage was good. So this week my water heater started leaking and I submitted a claim on the Select Home Warranty website. The next day, I get a denial of my claim because they don't cover leaks in water heaters. They suggested I contact a plumber to replace my water heater. Really?? So, since they don't cover the usual problem with water heaters, I am canceling my warranties with them. They got me on this one and sucked down some of my money, but no more. I'm sure they will charge me a couple of months fee to cancel, but worth it. I hope they enjoy the fact that they sucked me in and got my money, with no benefit to me.

Horrible. I have reported them to the BBB. RUN, don't walk from Select Home Warranty. I have been with them for a year this month. For the review reader's convenience, I'll bullet point the problems. • Called about fridge making a noise. (Recorded noise on my phone.) • The call center is not in the US. They made a ticket. • Sent out a local repairman, a young kid, to look at it. ($60 visit) • Repair guy didn't know what was wrong. He took the back off the fridge. • I made a video of the noise recording from where it came from. • Resent video again to repair guy. • No action from the repair guy or Select Home Warranty after much time. • I had surgery. • Freezer went out. All the food in prep for surgery was ruined. • Called Select Home Warranty NUMEROUS times without action. • Finally sent out another repair guy ($60 visit again) • Repair guy identified the problem as the compressor. • Called NUMEROUS times again. Select Home Warranty said to expect a call. • No call for a week. • Finally called and was informed that they wouldn't cover the repair because it was a WATER LINE problem. (BULLSHIRT!) • Called Select Home Warranty and asked for the written report from the repairman. (Wouldn't give it to me... Later found out that there WASN'T ONE!) • Select Home Warrantee said to contact the repairman. (MAJOR Runaround!) • Finally was able to contact the repair guy. He said he NEVER filled out a report but called the problem in as the COMPRESSOR. • Repair guy said he would contact Select Home Warranty and restate the problem. (This has been going on now OVER a month.) • Waiting to get this resolved. If they don't take immediate action on this in the next week, I will take other action. They have taken so much of my time, stress, and loss. • Save yourself from dealing with these people.

Terrible company to deal with...stay away! I had this company come out to fix my heating system. They sent out a tech who told me my system had cracks in the main unit and that he could not fix the unit. He told me that he could return with a new unit for $2700 the next day. I thought this was fishy so I called out my own company the next day and they fix the unit by replacing a board. They also told me there were no cracks in the main unit and this was a scam the techs use that work for these company to sell new systems. I contacted Select Home Warranty on 12-15-20 and sent them invoices as they asked for to reconsider the claim. Today is 1-22-21 and have not heard a word from them. I called Select Home Warranty to inquire about my claim and was put on hold for 10 minutes and the off shore representative never came back to the phone. Here we go again!

Called up Select Home Warranty about my refrigerator. A tech was sent out and said I needed a new thermostat and mother board. Technician gave them a report and also stated to them about some rust where the waterline goes in. Select home warranty denied the claim. After speaking with Select home representative and getting a runaround I decided to cancel my policy. Keep in mind that I only had for 45 days, I later spoke to the tech and he said that they should not have denied my claim. I again called Select home warranty to argue why it was denied and they replied they cannot comment because my policy was cancelled and I had to purchase a new policy for $600.00! I only paid $350.00 only 45 days ago. This is ridiculous and I am angry dealing with their people over the phone. I asked to speak to a supervisor and they said I had to call the number again but will be getting the same people who did not resolve the issue I was having. This company rips people out of their money. I will be reprting them to the BBB.

They lie to convince you to sign up with their service. After getting the service they refuse to cover the repairs. We were lied to by their sales agent who signed us up for the policy. We got a for a 4 unit multifamily the same week we were closing on the property. The sales agent told us that we could cancel the policy at any time without a fee since they were having a promotion. They also gave us an additional 2-month free coverage since we signed up for a year and paid the premium upfront. The policy didn't kick in for a month. After a month one of our HVAC units' pump went out so we filed a claim. Note this is in winter and we are in Chicago. A technician was scheduled to come out. I paid the $60 service call fee. The technician sent them his findings. They then requested for pictures and maintenance records. We couldn't provide the maintenance records since the previous owner didn't keep any records. SHW decided to approve only $150 for repairs that was going to cost us over $1500. They told that us per the terms, they approved only $150. We then decided to cancel all our policies. They refused to cancel the policy without penalties. I called several times to talk to a manager but 5 out of the 6 people I talked to were rude and unprofessional. They hanged up on me a few times. I was supposed to receive a call back but never happened. The agents also didn't add detailed and accurate documentation of all my phone call. Avoid these scammers. You are better off putting some money aside monthly to pay for future capital expenses or use credit card for such repair and make monthly payments. Don't waste your money and time.

Not sure if all insurance companies operate this way or is it just Select Home Warranty. My heater was having issues at rental house...no hot water. I opened claim and they said 24-48 hours for review and then find a technician. We live in a freezing cold temperature, so not having hot water for 2 days is unacceptable. They said I do anything prior to review it is automatic rejection. Well guess what I waited for 2 days and that became 3 days and then the rep tells me they can't find a technician. However they said the technician can go there and diagnose but cannot fix the problem until they give approval, which would take another 24-48 hours. So I asked my renters are to be without hot water for 4-5 days minimum...and they response was that is their policy on approvals.

If this is the best home warranty available we are all in trouble. First (if it matters) they are not an american company. If you don't believe me just try filing a claim. Second, it is impossible to find someone that is willing to work with them ( which should be a red flag). Third DO NOT let them talk you into calling your "own" technician because you will find out the hard way that they do not reimburse for "out of network" technicians, which by the way it says absolutely nothing about out of network technicians (per Gabriel a claims supervisor) in the contract. I called a tech. At their recommendation and was stuck with a service call. Fourth I am now waiting for six weeks on a repair or replace of my dryer. They will not contact me and when I call they say "we so sorry, we expidite you claim". Fifth I filed a claim on a $600 septic aerator less than two years old and after daily calling and expressing my extreme frustration they reluctantly are supposedly are sending me a check for $200 because of depreciation. Sixth even though they refuse to help you in any way, they will not reimburse you without a early cancellation penalty and a pro-rated reimbursement. They exist to charge premiums and deny claims. STAY AWAY

Do not I repeat do not buy a warranty from this company. I put in a claim last Thursday about my heating unit and they sent out a technician to diagnose the problem not fix it diagnose. The technician came out i paid the $60 dollars and he told me he was going to submit the paperwork for approval. So the next day I received a email from the company stating they needed pictures from me and 3 years worth of maintenance records. I informed them that the technician had taken the pictures but they insisted that the pictures come from me, So Monday rolled around still no solution and now it is Friday no solution this company is a complete ripoff do not use period!!!

I have never been more frustrated and angry with a company than with Home Select Warranty. They are all about screwing the customer and making money. I moved and they counseled me to transfer the policy to the buyer of my property, so I did, coming to find out they canceled my policy, no reinstatement available, in fact, the gentleman I spoke with had the nerve to ask me if I wanted to buy another policy for the buyer or for myself (new property). The worst mistake I made in my life was to purchase a 3-year policy with them, no ethics or empathy, and I really hope they are out of business soon. If you really want to be screwed and be taken advantage of by a company, buy a policy from Home Select. My worst experience with a merchant thus far! Stay away

Best Company is an outright LIE! No service just runaround. After three tries a tech shows up to fix my furnace. No heat 3 days running.. Pay this joker $75.00 to walk in. H thumps and bumps around in my attic for 40 min. and still no heat. You need a $400.00 board. And away he goes. It was Friday night. Select does not work weekends. Two more days no heat. I call super tech and he says Select has not authorized board. I called Select and mor runaround about my claim................enough!! I called a local HVAC outfit who works with my gas company Nicor. Thier guy came out, spent 20 min. and lo and behold HEAT!!!. I asked need a board? He said nope just a simple adjustment. The visit was no cost to me!!!! I have been fighting with the elusive Solution Squad for three more days. And the parts changer keeps trying to come put in the mysterious Board. Stay away fro Select Home Warranty at all cost. If you have them, drop and run!!!!!!

I am not sure if I have ever had this BAD of an experience with a business in my life and I have been around for a while. The two time I attempted to use this company I paid the bill, first after waiting two weeks for a plumber the day he showed up I was told they did not cover the problem and read my contract (that cost me almost $1300.00) the second time I needed the it again took two weeks and they again informed me they would only cover the toilet and that I would need to pay for the service ($450.00) so I cancelled there service, a moth later I called to see when I could expect my ck and was told they new nothing about my cancellation? so I paid them $1200.00 for three years service I cancelled eight months later and they tell me that I should get a check for around $450.00. I need to say the amounts I have noted are NOT exact totals but are very close. I am typing this just after getting off of the phone with them and not in a good mood.

I have requested to have my oven broiler repaired 4 times, and they send me emails stating that they are unable to schedule a technician & they then recommend that I find someone to fix it, and go through extensive paperwork to get reimbursed. My thoughts are, "That's why I pay you!" I have also filed a claim for repairs on my bathrooms and had to pay an additional $49.99 to include the fixtures....Why wasn't I told this when I signed up? Have now had to file 3 claims & pay additional $ to get my plumbing issues repaired. I was not happy being told that because the pipes were attached to the toilet, it was considered part of the fixture! WHAT??? Then, repairing the floor is not covered. My policy is up for renewal.....At this point....Really???

I would give this company negative stars if I could. Takes DAYS for them to dispatch. Hope you dont have an emergency. They dont cover what they say they will in their contract. The real kicker for me was when they sent an a/c company to my home, who tried to extract $2,000.00 just to investigate (not even fix) what was wrong with my a/c and find the leak for the Freon. Called my own guy. Not only was it not just a Freon leak, but what was wrong SHOULD have been covered by SHW and they denied the claim for reimbursement. This company is horrible. stay away from the gimmicks. The low price and free months they lure you in with just aren't worth their lackluster policies and service.

I chose this company to give me price of mind when something breaks in my house. My first experience with them has been a nightmare and after 6 weeks I still don't have a working refrigerator. They refused 3 times to send someone out to look at the 5 year old unit. Now after calling my own technician out and submitting the paperwork they are refusing to repay the bill due to lack of maintenance. They also refused a buyout even after the technician told them it could not be fixed because the claim was started more than 30 days ago. They have lied to me about what is covered and dragged their feet to get out of paying for anything. This company is a SCAM. Do not use! Amazing how horrible!
