We have one situation right now that just has not been resolved. They told me to call the contractor. I did that and it hasn't gotten me anywhere. We had a refrigerator ice maker break. We've now had it happen twice.Someone came out and supposedly fixed it. It didn't say fixed very long. The second time they came out, they said you need a new part and we've heard back nothing from them. It's been about six weeks.

I've had one good experience and one bad experience with the system I use. I had an air conditioner that was broken and they had a difficult time finding a technician in a timely manner to address this issue. So I had to go out and arrange for it myself. The other issue that I had was handled quite well and that was an issue that got corrected within a couple days, and that was with a dryer.

I have dissatisfaction with another home warranty company and Choice Home Warranty was cheaper, so I went with them. We had a leaking toilet bathroom on our lower floor, and when we called them they responded promptly and fixed it. The only way they communicate back with me is usually by email, there's no personal contact.

I thought it had a good price. But I did have a few problems. One time when we put in a claim, they couldn't find anybody to come and do the work. Last year our air conditioner went out and it was a week and they just couldn't find anybody to come and fix it. So we had to get somebody on our own to come fix it.

Had an issue with a leaking shower. I did the claim online, they assigned someone and they came and fixed it and it was fine. They did a good job. They were fairly neat and I guess the only only issue I have is the length of the service window. 4 hours is a large service window.

Recently I needed to call them about a garbage disposal that wasn't working properly and they managed that situation over a weekend and had it fixed within probably 48 hours. They were very quick to respond to the phone call, sending a repairman fairly quickly. The repairman has been generally quite communicative and it's very seamless process.

Some services ok and others not. After you get a repairman and he finds a problem, he/she must call the authorization department to get the ok to fix. If it's a weekend and after six, there is no one there to give an okay. Imagine your a/c out on a 95 degree day and your repairman can't get an answer. This makes the repair until he can come back again. Ugh.

Really like the technician that came out. It would be helpful if CHW paid at least some of the labor. Also to consider it an upgrade when an AC has to be replaced outside and the inside isn’t compatible with the replacement is a hardship especially for an elderly person

A 3 is being generous. I wrote the CEO of choice (who never answered) asking why they selected a contractor having a 1 star rating, who never answers the phone (or answers voice messages) and who totally misdiagnosed our washer/dryer failure. Instead of replacing or repairing unit, Choice opted to pay their evaluation of a fair settlement. I consulted with another service company that correctly diagnosed the issue and am repairing it.

In most cases you just pay the $75 service fee to the company that comes out to do the repair. If the repair is large like replacing the compressor on an air conditioning unit they try to not pay the full amount of the part. Sometimes the companies they contact to come to your home to access the repair can take up to 5-6 days to get there.

Initially, my service request received quick response from CHW and the service provider. The issue was repaired within 3 days, which is acceptable. GARAGE DOOR 495 wanted me to pay them for the service. They said that CHW does not cover replacement of my garage door opener. I refused. He would not call CHW right there and then. They fabricated to CHW that my door was broken therefore they cannot replace broken door opener. CHW believed them and denied my claim. I sent a picture to CHW and no response.

One vendor identified to fix a broken garage door spring (and who was on his way to our house) called and tried to upsell the repair cost. He was told not to come. Another vendor arrived to fix a problem and had a hard time getting Choice on the phone to approve the repair. He was about to leave for another appointment when he finally reached someone. Over three years we have had generally good experiences. I get the feeling that the amounts CHW has set aside for some repairs is just not what the current market rate is for those repairs.

Air handler and overflow pan leaked. Contacted Choice Home Warranty for help and was advised that the soonest I would be able to get any help from them would be in about 48 hours. Meantime I had water coming through the ceiling so could not wait. I called an HVAC firm that responded immediately and got the water stopped. The next thing that happened was that CHE informed me that they could not find a tech in the area to do the repair but I could have the repair done on my own nickel but that CHE would have to approve the proposed repair and then evaluate the repair when completed. No thanks; we're done.

Since August 1st, I have had problems with my compressor. A technician came and replaced the capacitor. But he says I need the fan for it. He says the whole outside unit needs to be replaced. He claims he turn in his diagnosis a week ago. Today is September 9th and I haven't heard from either the technician or CHW, whether CHW will replace the compressor or not. I know I'm not the only customer, but come on. A little message with what's going on will suffice. Very disappointed.

I placed a service call for my AC. They were prompt in scheduling the first call. I called back a few days later and was told that a service rep. would come back out and check the unit that had frozen up. The unit had leaked into a closet and out into the breezeway and had caused damage to carpet and drywall. No one ever called or came back out.

Response to the work request seemed to be too long. Once the technician showed up and reviewed the problem with the cracked toilet tank Choice Warranty denied the request because they determine it not be fair wear and tear Had to persevere and work through the Case Manager, Sylvana G. The case manager finally approved the work order. I had to remind them that I am a long term subscriber signed up on a long term contract.

It takes to long to get service. On first request was 9 days . Then told they wouldn't repair. Long drawn out process. Too many to list. Then a month later I see service has been scheduled a second time. Even the repair tech had no idea why. They at one time offered to pay me out. Not repair or replace. They wanted me to take $337 for a $3,000. refrigerator that the compressor went out. In the end it did get repaired. But, was absolutely a very lo-o-o-ong process. Going on 2 months. Second time I placed a request went off without a hitch. But it was simple, just replace a couple light switches on 2 ceiling fans. Crows Service did the repairs and they were A#1. Choice was the second worst company I have experienced

When they decide to replace your appliance, it may take up to 30 days to receive the gift cards to use to purchase the new appliance. Within 7 days seems more reasonable, especially since the old appliance isn’t working or working properly.

My experience is where I live no contractors take the call and I have to hire my own contractor than it takes over a month to get my money back. Contact with a manager over the phone regarding an issue is inconsistent. I have had issues where e mails are not answered so you have to constantly keep following up . Just stay patient and professional when you deal with a case manager .

The claim process is ridiculous. My claim was not able to be processed because there was no-one in my area able to take the claim. When I called a customer service rep, it was like talking to a brick wall. I was eventually able to get my most recent claim resolved and received a quick reimbursement. This was only after I sent emails, and complained about the quality of service I was receiving. If this survey had been sent while my claim was still open my rating our be one star.

Overall it looks like Choice is a good deal BUT ... there are so many things they will not cover, too many excuses ... the small print or even worse, the "because it is not SPECIFICALLY listed we don;t cover it' even though it was a clear issue with an appliance they apparently do cover. And if for any reason they can't get a service company and you decide to go for reimbursement then be prepared because that is a nightmare and actually many companies refuse to take the case if it means having to submit paperwork to Choice, even if you had already paid their complete work. Choice is so bureaucratic and cumbersome that even submitting paperwork is a hassle. For small and quick items CHW is fine, for any bigger jobs be prepared for a bigger disappointment.

We had two vendors come out through Choice. Electrician, and locksmith. Both were very competant and timely. Only criticism, is rekeying the locks was 'included' in our warranty but only a certain amount of locks were covered and we had to pay for the rest. We only have 3 doors, but the warranty didn't cover them all.

I have only used the benefits once. The salesperson was great in explaining the warranty and coverage, however, when it came to using it, appointments were cancelled couple of times and the tech was no-show another time. I had to go through hoops to get my fridge replaced but at the end, I was taken care of.

In my most recent claim, I'd waited a week on a refrigerator tech to come after calling in the claim. He arrived and diagnosed the issue and recommended the unit be replaced, Choice cancelled his call and scheduled another tech to arrive. This took and additional week only to send the recommendation to Choice where they'd decided to replace the unit. This was two(2) weeks of not having a refrigerator and trying to keep essentials cool by using coolers having to purchase ice on a daily basis. The amount that Choice was offering to replace the fridge wasn't enough to cover half the cost of a new unit with similar features. I'd scheduled a call with the case manager to have the amount increased. That took an additional 3 days to talk with the case manager. The case manager did slightly increase the amount. My issue then was that they couldn't send that increase amount in the form of a check to me to go out and purchase a replacement. They'd only give me a gift card in that amount to Lowes. I don't like that they're forcing me to take that increased amount and have to shop at Lowes. I'd like to be able to shop anywhere that I want. This really soured my opinion of Choice. I'm a realtor and I've referred many clients to them but, after this, I'll no longer do that.

When I had water flowing thru my house from air conditioner inside I was emptying 2 gal every hour . They made a contract with Sears for 6 days to wait. i could not keep this water problem from ruining whole house for 6 days so I gave them 3 companies near by that could come that day They refused so I had to get my own company and pay full charges I think they try to scam you so you have bought thei cntract but do not really care to find a repair and just keep their money

It would be 4 stars but I'm giving them 2 stars based on my first claim with them, which was an absolute nightmare. Starting on June 7th I had an issue with my cooktop tripping a breaker and the first tech they sent out that looked at it was there no longer than 10 minutes. They told me it "looks really clean" without ever checking to see if it was an issue with one of the burner controls, even though I offered to switch on the breaker to see if it was an isolated problem. They surmised it was a problem with my home's electrical system and we'll need to send a qualified electrician out, which would cost another $85 service fee! What?! They gladly took my $85 then left. The electrician came out, and everything was fine with the home (as was expected). This technician went the extra mile and worked with me on checking the burner controls and it was discovered one of the switches was bad but the others were operating fine. Why didn't the first technician do that, even though we offered to help? If they had done their jobs we wouldn't be out an extra $85! The electrician advised Choice it was the switch but Choice never offered to refund the first $85 because of poor judgment by the first technician. Moving on, Choice messed up the parts order and further delayed the replacement of the burner control by an entire month. Finally, on 8/21, almost 11 weeks after the claim was filed, the cooktop was repaired but we're still out $85. They also weren't truthful when we first signed up with them about $85 per visit service fee. American Home Shield and Sears Home Services don't do that so we're considering switching to them. The second claim for my AC was handled in two days so that's their saving grace.
