Our water heater was under factory parts warranty; however, the manufacturer didn’t want to stand behind their warranty. They kept trying to blame our gas pressure for the issues despite multiple plumbers stating the water heater was not working properly. AHS stepped up and replaced the water heater, and we couldn’t be more thankful.

I have had American Home Shield for years, but now they are not going to renew my contract. It is heartbreaking- as it has been a Godsend for me to cover repairs that I would not otherwise afford all at once, without racking up my credit card. I have called to find out why- and basically I believe I had "too many" claims. The reason I had so many claims on my AC is because they fix it until it is ready for the graveyard. I am deeply saddened and do not know which warranty company I should go with now.

They do what they say they do. Used them over years, and appreciate their service. Online service request is easy as well. If the vendor does not fix it the first time, say a week later it breaks again, AHS does not charge additional fee for the vendor to come back.

I have been a AHS customer for 15+ years. Good response time when requesting service. Problems usually resolved in one visit. Some contractors are better than others, especially for HVAC central air conditioner systems. Would like the opportunity to pick a contractor from a list of available choices from AHS. Currently the contractor is assigned by AHS.

I have used AHS for both air conditioning and oven issues. One time we had a bad / did not show up experience with the service provider but AHS went above and beyond to remedy the situation and made sure that company would not be assigned in the future. The two other repairs were flawless

I like that you can get a call back instead of having to wait on hold, because last time I called the hold time was 50 minutes. The representative I spoke to helped me arrange a recall for a broke water heater that was not resolved with the first repair. I had yet to see if the second repair will fix the problem. I like their online services, it's easy to make a new claim.

I’ve had mostly good experience with my ahs. The exception is regarding my refrigerator, a 5 year old LG bottom freezer model. It’s a beautiful lemon that had required repeated service. Each time it quits working I’ve had to wait weeks for service while losing all my frozen food each time. I was totally without refrigeration from Thanksgiving until after New Years a year ago when the compressor went out. Most recently when it quit working I was given a repair date 2 weeks away and on the day of the appointment the company canceled and scheduled another 2 weeks away. I’m ready to be offered the opportunity to replace this appliance. I can’t afford to keep losing freezer full of food and being without refrigerator for weeks (months) at a time.

Loved the service, I had an issue with my heat so I called American Home Shield and they sent someone out to check it, it turned out that the furnace can not be fixed, so they replaced it and all I had to pay for was the chimney cause that is not covered

Most claims have been OK. I started this policy about 18 years ago because I bought a house that had a number of systems. My first major failure was the well pump which was not covered. I subsequently added this coverage, and, of course no failures since. So far, inasmuch as I take better care of these systems than the average person, I have had no large claims. I am sure I have paid way more in premiums than I have received in benefits. I would like to see this comparison if you could forward it to me. At this point in time, I have 3 hot water heaters from 1990, 3 air handlers from 1990, and 3 hest pumps from 2002. Obviously, I am afraid to cancel my AHS policy because I could experience significant problems at any time now. There are other policies out there with other companies that appear to be better, but I am reluctant to change for fear of surprises. In retrospect, I should have taken my chances and avoided you r coverage. I have avoided extended warranties on automobiles and other products for same reasons.

As far as getting a contractor to my home has not been the issue. I’ve been very pleased with that part. However, I CANNOT get anyone to answer a phone call as I’ve tried on multiple occasions this week and was on hold for hours. VERY FRUSTRATING to say the least. If I can’t get answers soon from the authorization dept I’m just gonna have to cancel and go to another company. Extremely unprofessional imo!

We had a problem with our disposal. Both Eddie and Orlando arrived, were very professional, deduced the problem in minutes and had a new disposal installed within the hour. They were prompt, very business like, knew what to look for and resolved the issue quickly. This is how a service call should be handled and they were very polite also.

AHS dispatched my trouble ticket to a local vendor within 15 minutes of my request. Vendor contacted within 4 hours and were out the next day. Everything was resolved by noon second day. Very happy and I have a long history with AHS. Have never been disappointed with their service.

A friend recommended American Home Shield. We were reluctant to sign up with a company and pay a monthly fee just in case something breaks down but went ahead with it. Since we signed up, we have used them twice. We only had to pay the fee for the visit but no additional money to have the problems resolved. It's working out great so far!

We used our Warranty to fix our dishwasher. AHS first automatically assigned us to a company with bad reviews, so I called to see if we could get another repair shop and they, no questions asked, assigned us to the manufacturers directly. They were wonderful and fixed our dishwasher quickly! So happy we have a Warranty with AHS.

I have now used American Home Shield for three years. In that time, I have had my refrigerator and dishwasher replaced for $125 deductible. I have also had my air conditioner worked on twice, washer machine once, oven once, and garage door twice. The warranty pays for itself. All contractors have been great and reliable.

UPDATE: What I like best about AHS is some not ALL of their representatives are compassionate and really want to help resolve your issues repairing problems in your home. What I like the least about AHS is the lack of communal customer care and responsibility. In order to get real help you have to navigate the rat maze of calls to get to a rep in the U.S. The over-seas call centers is a waste of time. I was told multiple stories of where I was in the process of getting my refrigerator replaced all were terribly wrong. The over-seas call center cost me two waits of waiting because of their incompetence. Finally on April 28th I was able to reach a rep in the states. He heard my frustrations and plead for help. He expedited my case straight to appliance replacement department that same call. This could have been down weeks ago in April. Unfortunately, AHS replacement dept weren't able to provide the particular unit I was looking for so I ended up doing a cash-out option. I went to my local Lowes and purchased my own fridge out of pocket and got reimbursed the amount they are allowed to cover. Since that unit wasn't in stock it had to be ordered and it takes 2 weeks! Good news, the check came quick for reimbursement of frig from AHS. I would like to stick with AHS but some major changes have to be done for customer satisfaction.

However, calling and scheduling is always a bit difficult because the customer service employees tend to be a bit slow in both their explanations of things. I wish we could put in a request in under then 7 minutes, but every phone call we have had has lasted over 15. Other than that no complaints yet

Easy process for reporting a problem, they are fair about charges and the coverage pays off if the parts are covered and are expensive. Coverage saved me about 300 bucks on my first claim. Can't complain!! Also, really good customer service :)

We’ve contacted AHS three times since we started this warranty. All three were great experiences, although one contractor was not as timely as desired for our broken garage door opener. Once he arrived, though, it was fixed quickly. My one hesitation is the inability to speak with anyone at AHS.

Service from J&J pool service was excellent! The first company chosen by AHS couldn’t respond for 5 days. I re contacted AHS to request another, more efficient company. The AHS representative stepped up, contracted another company, and my repair was handled 2 days later!!

He what the problem was and went straight to it. He pulled out his plier and turn the filter to the left and pulled it out. That was that. It was a piece of cake for him to complete the removal of the water filter. Thanks
