As long as you don't have to speak to anyone at AHS directly they are good. They have probably the worst customer service I have ever worked with. 1-2 hour hold times. Rude people. No way to get back to anyone so always start all over. We have had 3 claims total - luckily two were completely online for AHS part. The one that wasn't took 2 months because working with AHS directly is a total nightmare. The contractors are good. It is 100% total breakdown if you need to speak to a human at AHS. They have ZERO customer support.

At times it has become difficult to get though to someone and difficult to communicate. The process of replacing a broken item is not always convenient. Often a long wait time to repair an item or they offer to give a lesser amount than the value of the applicable to replace. The overall service may be worthy the hassle but we are often tempted to cancel.

American Home Shield has changed many of the allowable fixes to not allowable over the years. They charge $125.00 for the service call which is higher than most service companies. They will order a part that can take weeks on a 35 year old appliance rather than replace (whats the chances this appliance is going to have another problem). And if it does there goes another $125.00. And it takes forever to get someone on the phone. They say COVID; I say an excuse to take much needed people off the payroll.

So far we are 1 for 5 in repairs being done correctly. They had to send two different companies to repair our dishwasher, which turns out was only because the first company didn't bother to run the reset code on the dishwasher so the heating element would come back on. The fridge repair people have just been ridiculous. First it took 3 weeks for 1 part to come in, then they couldn't figure out why after the part was replaced that the water and ice machine were still not working so they had to send a "senior" technician out, who determined the line was frozen, so now the water dispenser works but the ice maker still does not! He didn't even bother to check to see if the ice maker was working before he left. Now I have to put in ANOTHER service request (they have already been out 4 times, this will be the 5th). Overall, clearly service has been pretty terrible.

When you need them for a repair it's really easy and the service tends to be quick and reliable. The last time I needed a repair the service provider through AHS was at my house and made the repair within 24 hours. I guess my only complaint is the cost of the coverage per month and the service charge per repair. Don't we always wish things were less expensive. But overall AHS is and has been a good home warranty company to deal with and to utilize.

Had AHS 18 years ago and was very satisfied for several years and was very satisfied. After a few years it began to send out questionable technicians from iffy companies. While the customer service people were always helpful and polite, they could only do what AHS allowed them to do. AHS was fine for small fixes but replacing major parts or whole systems, like HVAC the parts had to be ordered through AHS and took a long time. Also, the cheapest parts were used, even when replacing a more expensive version. Left AHS for a few years, recently came back and have been pleased so far, but I've only had small jobs done. However, no longer able to request certain companies known to be trustworthy on their list, have to take who they assign and hope for the best.

My overall with AHS over the past 25 years has been satisfactory with the exception of 2 times when AHS did not investigate a vendor that claimed to do work that they did not do, I ended up having to pay the service fees for 2 visits which did not occur.

They give you the name and telephone number of the company and they also have the company give you a call to set up a time to do the repair. Only thing is I wish it was either a same day or next day service. I had to wait line 3 days with no washer and we wash. Also I had to wait around the house all day Saturday because I didn’t know exactly when they would come. The gave an estimated time, that was from 1-4. But I couldn’t make any plans due to having to wait around on a Sat. Rather than that the service was fine.

I submitted my issue online. I paid the fee. A email was sent of the company who was going to take care of this issue. The company came out to look at the issue. They ordered the part. Came back and replaced the part. This all happened in 2 weeks. No problem or issue

American Home shield offers prompt services. The customer service representative are always helpful and professional. I have called three times for repairs and one of the repairs was my heater. That day we were expecting a snow storm. AHS send someone over my house within 2 hrs on a weekend to fix the heater. Thank you AHS!

American home shield replaced my water heater and fixed my kitchen faucet. Technicians are expert in their jobs. You can call them in the middle of the night if you have emergency situations like leaking pipes. Yes, they also fixed my leaking pipe. They are awesome with their services.

I am frustrated that each person I talked to on the phone was very difficult to understand. It was apparent that I was talking to call centers that were not in America. Some call center employees were unable to answer questions because they couldn't understand the question. When giving the email address for the cash out option, the call center employee's English was so understandable that the wrong email was given. I had to make contact through Facebook to get the correct email address. For a company named American Homeshield, I would expect to talk to someone with adequate English skills.

I had bad experience w/customer service last fall. We needed our refrigerator fixed and dealing with the outside of of the United States customer service was very poor. First 1 rep I had trouble understanding their English and the rep refused to transfer me to another rep or even a supervisor. When I told them the 2nd opinion company could not come out for about 5 weeks (this was for a refrigerator repair) at first they did not want to give me another Company. They finally called the company who confirmed they couldn't come out in a timely manner and only then did they give me another referral. That company informed me the refrigerator could not be fixed andwrote on my paperwork I needed it replaced. When I didn't hear anything in about 10 days I again called customer service and the rep told me they didn't have anything. I had to argue with them to call the company and after they did I was told the confirmed what I said. I was told I would hear from someone soon. Again after about 10 days no one had called me so I called custoemr service again. Again I was told there was nothing in the record and again I told them to call the company because my paperwork said the refrigerator couldn't be fixed. I was put on hold and while they said they would try to reach the company. When the rep came back on the line she said the company couldn't be reached. When I asked about the time difference I told them the company was not open yet as it was 8:00am CA time and they opened at 9. I was very upset when they said I should call back. I explained that we were losing food a nd needed this repaired. The rep transferred me to the Escalation Dept and the rep Eddie told me tthey would take care of the matter and he would cal on his next working day 2 days later. Again about 10-14 days we heard nothing. Somehow I got the number for the replacement Dept which is here in the States. That rep representative told me Eddie had indeed mad a note that he would follow up and he never did. I was also informed that the previous reps had put down that the "failure could not be duplicated" which actually meant there was not problem. She said she knew what questions to ask and would resolve ghe issue and start the replacement process. By the end of her work shift that day she called me back and informed me she had gotten the correct nfomraton and would start the replacement process the next day. Also when talking to the customer service reps in the Phillipines, it appeared that if I asked a question that was not covered in their "script" they could not answer it. It was very frustrating.

One person sent for heater service was condescending when we asked questions-and was “done” in 15 mins. Person sent to fix heater 6 mos later didn’t fix the problem —just wanting to say it might be the masonry brick the house is built out of. When asked for someone else, they sent him again as a Sr Tech. He said the same thing and was very short with us. I had to insist and ask them to cancel my contract and refund the $100, then they agreed to a 2nd opinion. This guy diagnosed in 15 mins, ordered part, came back and fixed it. He was friendly and respectful the entire time. But I shouldn’t have to insist on a 2nd opinion when 4 visits by the other guy didn’t work.

I had to call to find out about my refrigerator repair..AHS did not intact me regarding the replacement. If I hadn’t Allen them, not sure when the process would have been accomplished. I dealt with some very nice people in the purchasing dept., and one person who was very rude and unhelpful. Turns out the email they were sending me had the wrong email address. If we hadn’t called back, and talked to a very helpful young man, who looked into the issue and his supervisor found the problem. The previous rep would not allow us to talk to a supervisor.

American Home Shield (AHS) has been amazing. We have only needed them one time, but they treated us very well. We needed to have our Stove replaced. They sent out a contractor who verified that the stove needed to be replaced. They order the stove the same day. Two days later they called and told us the stove would be delayed. They authorized us to purchase a countertop oven for up to $100.00 due to the delay. After the new stove arrived and had been installed they called to ensure the contractor had been on time and that we were satisfied. One week later they called again to make sure there were no problems with the stove or the install.

The technician sent by AHS was able to quickly diagnose the exact problem with the HVAC system as the blower motor. Because they did not have the part in stock, they could not commit how quickly they could complete the repair but they had the unit overnighted from the manufacturer and completed the repair the next day. Kudos to AHS for providing a much needed service-repair as quickly as possible and not make unnecessary repairs. Just received the renewal notice with AHS and this experience has made that decision to renew easy.

Because they are very Best at what they do most of the time, sometimes the contractors they send to us need to be really checked out. We were tricked by once into making a purchase ourselves for over $5200 When we should have just said no, we will let AHS do the purchasing, but the contractors were fast talker and offered us a deal that only caused us heartaches, headaches etc. into buying a new Air condition/heater, our old one could not be repaired it was well over 12 years old. We spent $5200 that we should not have paid for. So we have to let AHS to investigate the contractors they send to us. Some of the vendors are out to rob the system. AHS is really a great company - Been with them over 20 years..
