I appreciated them listening to the problem and assigning someone to come make repairs. However they need to hire companies who are reliable. The company I was assigned to work with would not answer any of my calls concerning when parts were in or when they were coming to install. When AHS called they told them they would call the day before1never happened. Then they said they would call 30 minutes before they came out-never happened. Did get it fixed but not without some frustration with the lack of communication.

I love AHS but the last time I called, I literally argued with a representative for an entire 30 minutes asking for a certain a/c company. She stated that she only had one available and that was the only one I could choose. I got so completely frustrated after non-stop arguing. She wouldn't even let me talk. I asked for a supervisor at least 15 times, telling her I no longer wanted to speak to her, I wanted a supervisor. She would not allow me to speak with one and she completely refused to put me with my preferred vendor. She said that she could see every possible company and there was only one. She was a qualified service rep and she knew their system and the one she presented me was the only one. "If there were other's, I would see them but there aren't". I kept asking to be put on hold for how ever long it took to get a supervisor, so she would put me on hold and come back saying they were busy but she was a "qualified service rep"...over and over. I literally had to tell her to shut her mouth so that I could get a word in edgewise. Finally, after 30 minutes I hung up and logged in online. The service company I wanted was listed as one that I could choose. REALLY!!!!! It was the most frustrating, irritating and disappointing interaction I have ever had with AHS. I have called and made a complaint and have also advised the service company that AHS is making them lose business by not allowing customers to choose them. Very upset.

I had a leak they sent 3 plumbing companies and a leak Detection company to try to find where the leak was coming from they knocked a hole in the wall found it fixed it and went a drywall man to fix wall. I've had other companies I'll keep AHS!!!

We had a technician come last week regarding our front loading washing machine. He did not take anything apart or examine any damaged parts, but within 5 minutes told us that it could not be repaired. This washing machine is between +/-20 years old. He explained that the drum is supported by a star shaped support (like the Mercedes logo) and that the spokes of that star tend to break from wear and tear. When that happens, the bearing gets overloaded. He said that he was surprised that the machine lasted as long as it had, because this is a common problem and most people are lucky to get 10 years out of it. When I called AHS this afternoon to find next steps, they said my claim was denied because I overloaded the washing machine. Apparantly the tech told us one thing, and wrote another in his report. So today the second tech came out. He said he could not look at the machine until my husband signed his phone. When my husband ask what he was signing, the tech said it just gives him permission to look at the machine. So he signed. Same issue. The technician said when a bearing goes out they attribute it to overloading. When pushed on how he could definitively say it was due to overloading, especially since he did not take the machine apart, he said that is what they HAVE to say. When pushed further, he said the supports can break because of rust over time. We recorded the conversation. I want to note that he also did not pull out the washing machine to look at the actual broken parts to see if rust was the cause. We did not get a copy of whatever it was that was signed, or any wriiten or emailed diagnoses. AHS called within a few hours to deny the claim. The second tech told us to google the cause of the problem we had, so with a little research online, and talking to a reputable technician we found the following: "Washers that are made in the last decade or so have bearings that help operate the machine. Both front and top load washers use bearings that will eventually become defective with use. Over time, water seeps through the seal and rusts the bearings. Rusted bearings are the main cause of the loud noise that you hear when the washer is spinning. Washing machine bearings are usually good for around 10 years before they need to be replaced." This is a 20 year old machine. There is no way for a technician to determine that the bearing or support failure is due to user error unless the broken parts are inspected. In addition, one of the the knobs was broken, which the first technician did not notate. This technician also said it was our fault from "forcing". It is a push/pull knob. There is no "forcing". I sent this information along with the voice recording of the tech. After a couple days, AHS approved the replacement of my machine. My issue isn't really with AHS, it's with the techs that are sent out. My take is that they do not want to take the machine apart to diagnose the problem. They get their flat fee to come out, and they want to spend as little time as possible. If they come in, know it's too expensive to fix, they just say it's due to overloading, because they aren't going to get paid to do a repair. They don't want to take the time to show a part broke due to age and rust. That's at least an hour as opposed to 15 mintues. Both companies that were sent out had 1 1/2 - 2 star ratings online. Ultimately my problem was solved, but it took two weeks to get here.

The contractor M & Holmes was awesome. Mark kept me informed, was flexible, was simply a delight to work with, he fixed my plumbing problems and did a great job. The biggest challenge I had was in communicating with the phone staff. After the plumbing work was done I called your office and told them I did not want another company to come out and repair the sheet roc in the wall. I wanted it done a certain way and I could not get through to the person I spoke with (Jamie, I'm sure that is not her name). I was on the phone for over 35 minutes trying to get her to understand a very simple thing - she had to keep going to an advisor or someone else, I'm not sure who. She kept putting me on hold. That experience - unfortunately - is common with your 800 number, most of the people on the phone simply do not understand English. That is a real problem. Perhaps that is done by design, after 35 minutes I was getting ready to give up in trying to get her to understand. But I persevered and or a manager must have helped her understand what I wanted done.

Making service requests are easy & getting fixes are semi-ok (some of the contractors aren't rated highly or their performance isn't up to high standards at times - they do the least to get their paycheck it seems). However, awaiting feedback on work order situations from AHS is too slow when encountering a negative interaction. AHS answers the phone call, takes down full information & promises a 24hr turn around, but we're going on a week of no feedback.

We’ve used AHS for 3 repairs since we bought our home. The microwave repair was perfect! The heater and AC were where we had problems. Not so much with AHS but with the contractor they hired. The contractor ordered the wrong parts and wouldn’t return our phone calls. After complaining to AHS several times, they finally sent a different contractor and what a difference! Everything was completed when they said it would be and repaired correctly!

This is the third time I’ve used AHS most of my experience has been good. My major issue is with customer service. Once your order is setup the calls seem to only go to an overseas customer service center. My issue with this is though they understand English they often don’t understand the context of your words. I purchased my home last year and have a room that has an old gas wall heater. Without it working the room is unusable in winter. I called had a nice young man come out and turn it on but was unable to identify if it should have a thermostat on the wall or some other on off switch. He left stating he’d do some research and get back to me. Instead I get a call from AHS saying they can’t fix it and that it’s missing a thermostat and they don’t do replacement of equipment. Not what tech advised I’d like a second opinion. Here’s where the problems begin. First they schedule second opinion with same company... I call them of course they advise they don’t do a second opinion on there own work. Call AHS again get out of country customer service... first persons says second opinion should have never been scheduled attempts to cancel order all together. After speaking to several people to get this corrected they schedule with another company. That company never called, never answered my calls and had no voicemail. I wait expecting that maybe they’re busy as we’re entering heating season in Michigan. After 6 days I call get someone out of country again. I explain the contact issues with the company. He calls has the same problem then returns to tell me he will email them and for me to wait for a call. Of course at this point that is unacceptable. I ask for a supervisor. After being put on hold twice he tells me there are no supervisors and I must wait for the tech to respond by email. At this point I call back multiple times until I finally get someone in the US. She apologized and acknowledged this was unreasonable. She scheduled my appointment and even called the company to ensure availability. I believe her name was Brandy. We will see how this next visit goes. Bottom line it shouldn’t take nearly 10 calls to get properly assisted. I realize at this point for business reasons companies will use out of country customer service but they should not be the ones that take calls when someone has a problem. They are typically very polite but are nearly never able to solve problems

Mariah D kept her word! She was the only person in my whole encounter with American Home Shield that came through with her promise. Mariah took the time to review my complaint and make good on her word. While I did not get full reimbursement for my water heater, she did approve a financial remedy. I am somewhat skeptical about AHS's customer service representatives, but if I would be able to deal directly with Mariah, I would be more likely to recommend AHS. Thanks Mariah for all your help! Previous review: American Home Shield was referred to me by friends. I have had nothing but problems. I signed on in July, never received a copy of the contract after repeated requests. My coverage became effective August 5th. Unfortunately, I had an issue with my hot water heater on 8/13/19. I contacted AHS customer service and was advised a contractor would come the next day. Someone did come as indicated. the gentlemen was professional and effecient. I received a phone message at my home phone the next day stating that they would not cover any repair or replacement as there was presence of rust. They advised the water heater was cracked and had been leaking prior to the date indicated. I called requested to speak with a manager as this was not the case. If there is a basement, humidity and water there will be rust. the rust was minimal and i actually took pictures. I had the unit replaced by my own plumber. I called and spoke with another representative who advised they would send another contractor to review at no cost to me. She also indicate that if the second opinion did not agree with the first, they would reimburse me for the replacement. The second opinion rendered was not in agreement with the first contractor. The second contractor stated he could not see why they would not cover this. it was normal wear and tear. when i called to see what the outcome was (as i never recd a call from them advising me of the determination), i was told since the unit was not hooked up, they could not render a decision. Why would they even send a second opinion when they knew the unit was not hooked up. Made no sense. There was so much miscommunication from all of the representatives. Too many inconsistencies! no one ever came to do a home inspection or ask me the ages of any of the appliances that are in the home prior to the coverage becoming effective. Anyone that i spoke with gave me a different answer than the previous representative. i would never recommend American Home Shield to ANYONE! I truly believe they denied simply because my coverage became effective shortly before my hot water heater malfunctioned.

Having your AC go out is never a fun time. However, American home shield had us back up and running in no time at all. Requesting service online was a piece of cake! The service provider was prompt courteous and professional had us cool in no time! I highly recommend American home shield.

I have been covered by American Home Shield since March 1, 2019 and have requested support 3 times: TV mounting; HVAC seasonal inspection; and, re-keying my home. All three occasions have been pleasant, professional, and resulted in satisfactory conclusions. When and if the big one comes, I feel confident the results will be similar.

I have previously done a review of this Service Call, The day after it was completed. Caltech Appliance, LLC did a fantastic job, they replaced the compressor in my Maytag Refrigerator. It worked fine the 1st Time. Problem solved. After first diagnosis the Compressor took a 10 days to come in.

My AC unit started acting up in April 2019. A repair tech was sent out in a reasonable amount of time (few days). My AC's coils were frozen and it was blamed on my filters. So while my unit was turned off and the filters were changed, the coils thawed out and the unit started working again. In August 2019, my AC started doing the same thing. I called American Home Shield and after 2 weeks, nobody had contacted me about servicing my unit. So I called them back and they said the work order had been closed. They re-opened it. One week later, still nothing because they couldn't find an AC service tech in my area. I just did what the 1st tech did back in April and got the unit working again temporarily. I would have to turn my AC off every night and allow it to thaw out then turn it back on in the morning. After doing this for 6 weeks, I called AHS again and urged them to find a technician. They did in ONE day. The repairman came out after I sent him pictures of the frozen coils. He agreed that the coils needed to be replaced. Three days later, my unit was working perfectly again. The bad? AHS doesn't have contracted service techs everywhere. After paying $50 per month for the warranty, I have to pay another $125 to get someone to come out to my house. They also don't pay 100% of the cost of Freon (a little over 50%). The good? They did pay for the new coil unit. How much did I save? I don't know honestly.

American Home Shield has been extremely helpful with the repair of our central air. They have gone over and above to get our system working and so has Dawson Services, the company they have contracted with. It has been determined that there is a leak under the slab of our home. Both are working together for a repair method.

Once I reported the issue with my ice maker , Americans Home Shield acted quickly to assign a repair company. The repair company contact me the next day to setup an appointment. Then within a week the ice maker was fixed as they had to order a part. American Home Shield as well as the repair company performed beyond my expectations.

Called regarding leaking disposal. Next day service provider appeared on time and replaced disposal. Precisely why I purchase the insurance.. peace if mind and no financial surprises.. A replacement that would have cost several hundred $ cost me only $75... the standard fee for a service call.

Response time was incredibly fast from the initial service request, response from the repair company to the closing of the request. The ability from one of the servicing providers (electrician) to track the repair technician to my residence was also incredible. I have not had any issues thus far.

I like not having to look for contractors when I have an emergency situation with my home. My only concern is that sometimes the assigned contractor takes two or three days to come out if the request isn’t listed as an emergency.

They were great in helping solve my plumbing problem. The part was no longer available and they helped me get a new faucet that was covered under the original warranty of the old faucet. Hers and his plumbing did a good job putting in the new faucet.

Awesome service. Had a plumbing issue, wasn't sure of the source. Paid the service fee, the guys had to come out twice, and they ultimately fixed the problem. Very impressed. Recommended AHS to my dad because of this experience, and he signed up.
