Every time I had a claim an appointment was promptly scheduled and a serviceman showed up when he said he would. The only problems I had was when my wall air conditioner quite working and the serviceman looked at it and said there was nothing that one could do except replace it but apparently he told AMS that it was a window air conditioner being used as a wall air conditioner and they didn't cover window air conditioners. Then right around Christmas and it was zero outside my boiler quit and the same guy that looked at my ac couldn't fix it and knew little about boilers. He said we would have to get a plumber. We had family from out of state staying with us and we were trying to heat the house with the oven and electric heaters and couldn't wait another week for heat so I got the guy that does the HVAC where I work to fix it. Aside from those two experiences it's been great.

It took a little to long to agree to get us a new refrigerator. We didn’t have a refrigerator for a couple of months. We have a new refrigerator now & we love it. The only problem is that it’s missing a right door top shelf. All in all we have had good luck with AHS. We have had them for a long time. We highly recommend them!

All outcome were accepable; however, HVAC repair took near the entire summer to complete, and then, just a patchwork fix. The thermostat was done quickly with substandard parts. Those two issues are causing a consideration to changing coverage, but not yet. Just provide the quality service for which you are noted and don't allow either your staff or your contractors to cut corners

After having our AHS warranty for 19 months the day arose when it was 38 degrees, snowing and the furnace had gone out in the middle of the night. I went immediately to my laptop and sent in a request for service to AHS. The AHS representative contacted me and informed me that I would need to authorize her to charge my $100.00 deductible before they could assign a referral for repair, which I did immediately . They assigned a local HVAC company and 24 hours later that company contacted me to set a service call for the following day in the afternoon. The repairman came and examined my furnace, stating that a switch just inside the front cover had switched off and caused the furnace to shut off in the middle of the night. He went on to say that the switch was unnecessary and he was going to remove it and use an electrical cap to permanently connect the wires that were previously connected to the switch. The serviceman departed and the furnace worked for seven days. On the eighth day it ceased working again on a Thursday morning with a temperature of 30 degrees and snow on the ground. I went online to the AHS site and filed a follow up report on the furnace. I was told to contact the original service provider for a return visit as I had already paid my deductible for this issue. I called Morena Service and was told that their soonest appointment would be the following Tuesday morning. Their receptionist recommended that I contact AHS and see if they could find me a different service provider with a sooner availability. I contacted AHS and was told that it was very unlikely that they could find someone but they would look into it. I was told to watch my email and if anything came up they would email me. I never received an email. The following Tuesday morning the same service repairman arrived from Morena and examined my furnace. He informed me that the furnace required parts that he did not have and were not in stock at the supplier. He went on to say that he had not idea when the parts would be available. That was a week ago yesterday and no updates since.

What I have not liked: The automated voice that you get first when you need help (very often you have to repeat what you want and you can't get a real person to speak with), some of the representatives are hard to understand (lately they seem more English proficient- maybe better trained?) Some of your vendors are not very professional and have long lead times as they are out of the area. I also wish you covered door locks and attic lights. What I do like: When a get an excellent local professional, when I get to speak to representative (a real person right away, and as your subscription prices have increased I should be able to complain to one person, not five different people when the AHS contractor wanted to charge me $700. for a water heater replacement when I already had the safety straps required. I asked for a second opinion and that contractor was local and said it would be $200 out of pocket for the same replacement and they were able to do right away. The $700 quite was over an hour away and I had to wait three weeks before they even came out. I complained multiple times, explained this issue to multiple people, and the end result was I received a buyout for $600 and we paid out of pocket $1200. So why should we keep this service ? I was told whoever picks up the job first gets the job. This is not acceptable.

Recently had two issues. One was plumbing and was unable to get it repaired for two days. Would like to have multiple companies to choose from so we could have had issue fixed earlier. Other was dishwasher. A Tech came and adjusted everything but problem returned (like he said it might). He said he was putting notes to order part if problem persisted. When Tech came back out, he didn't have parts. Would like for companies to read notes when returning to home.

In my opinion, AHS is not working with the top service providers in the area. And then there is the multi-step process. A service provider comes out, diagnoses the problem, then has to go back and wait for approval from AHS. So that's a minimum of two visits where I have to leave work and be at home for a four-hour window. The approval should be in real-time. The repair person should phone in the diagnosis to either their office or AHS directly, get immediate approval, and fix the issue on the first visit.

I enrolled in American home shield for peace of mind. However, when my refrigerator started leaking and running like an airplane, the service provided was subpar at best. I had to take off five days of work for the refrigerator repair as the first repair did not work. I also had to empty the contents of my refrigerator and throw away all of my food each separate time as each time they repaired the refrigerator.l you have to completely defrost and unplug the appliance. After the second time “they fixed” the issue It only lasted about two months and the refrigerator started leaking and running even more loudly than ever. I have reached out to the company to request a replacement as I cannot go through this process another time if something is only fixed for 4560 days then it’s not fixed at all, the Band-Aid approaches not working and it is costing me time and money. I have written to the company twice to request a replacement first time. No one answered my email the second time I received an email that said they are in receipt of my correspondence time will tell if they honor this request , if they do, I will come back and leave an updated review.

I like the ease of scheduling repairs. It’s only after you start dealing with some repair companies dispatchers that the service suffers. The can be very busy and you get their voice mail. In some cases they do not return your call until they need to talk to you. My most frustrating problems have been When I have to talk to AHS customer service after service Technician did not or could not properly repaire the item. Philippine first line customer service usually are unable to solve the problem. It is almost impossible to get them to escalate the issue to a supervisor. The last time I had an issue I was on the phone for one hour.

I am sticking with American Home Shield. I am also glad that all the providers are trustworthy and insured/bonded. In addition the gentleman who made the repair was very kind to me. I am older, and not everyone listens and reassures me when I ask questions about the things that are important to me. He also told me that the referral covered 30 days, if I needed any further work on the furnace. That was very comforting.

AHS uses companies with little or no experience . Most of the HVAC companies that AHS sends out to homes to repair problems are unprofessional , with minimum experience or interest in finding and correcting the problem. The last three HVAC companies that AHS sent out to repair my HVAC were incompidend and should not be representing AHS . The last two companies sent out to repair washing machine and stove , Sears( A& E) were very good and professional . More work/checking needs to be done by AHS to identify professional repair companies before they are sent out to clients on behalf of AHS

The serviceman had a difficult time trying to diagnose the a/c issue but he stayed with it until he figured it out. The installers were on time and worked really hard for 5 hours to get it installed. They were really nice and respectful of the property.

Sometimes it is challenging to find a great contractor, but I have had good results this year with appliances getting fixed and/or replaced. I've had two replacements and they have worked with me fairly. If you find a good technician, save their info and request them when you need service in the future. I've saved a fortune in the last two years and would not be without AHS.

I think people who complain want to compare AHS to self-paying to get a contractor to come. It is not exactly the same. There is a process and it does take some time, but AHS has NEVER let me down.

I gave it a five because they have always been receptive to my calls in an appropriate time for what I was calling for. However, I wouldn't say I like the process when something has to be replaced and I do not think the replacements offered are as good as the one you are replacing. There should be more choices.

Overall, I really like AHS. I have it on two houses and it has been very helpful over the years with only a few irritating issues along the way. Last year I had two issues. One was my air conditioner went out during 100° plus heat wave. I was told that it would be seven days before anyone could come out. I made an appointment and I called back to see if there was another vendor we could try and the gal ended up deleting my request so after seven days I called to find out where the person was and they said that the order was canceled. I had to wait an additional 3 to 4 days for someone to come out and they were able to fix it but I had to buy a window unit and live in my bedroom for 10 days waiting on it. I can’t remember if it was before or after this, but not long, I was told I had to have a pressure reducing valve put on before they would work on any of my plumbing appliances which was an additional almost $500 on top of the $100 fee which I had to pay on both houses in order to just have the toilet looked at. Recently, my hot water tank went out and flooded my basement. I had to wait almost 2 weeks for someone to come look at it only to be told that when they PRV was installed, it caused it now to become a closed system which causes the buildup of pressure to go into the hot water tank, and therefore it was gonna be an additional almost $500 to have an expansion tank and an overflow pipe replaced on a 21 year old hot water tank. I called to complain. Nobody seem to care or had any options for me. I ended up having to go to Lowe’s and use their contractor to pay $1400 to get a new hot water tank installed that came with an expansion tank, this is very frustrating and disappointing and unfair. I could’ve paid the $500 and then the tank probably would’ve went out shortly after that they don’t usually last that long to begin with. Now I’m concerned if this is going to happen at the other house as well .

The company, Comfort Heating & Cooling, arranged the service appointment on a timely basis. The technician (Mr. S) was courteous and knew his trade well. He respected me and my home by wearing a mask and cover for his shoes. He explained my problem, resolved it and was in and out.

I like your service but sometimes I think you repair something that your repair tech states it should be replaced. My Refrigerator has been repaired three to four time over maybe a four-year period. I think it has a part that is going in and out. This is making it hard to service and fix. therefore, I think it is time to replace it.

SO fast, and very easy to navigate. I had a different home warranty before and my experience was awful, so I had some fears, but American Home Shield could not have been more responsive. The issue got fixed quickly and well. I would recommend AHS to anyone needing home warranty coverage!

American Home Shield will get you assigned to someone quickly, which is great. Most of my experiences have been very successful. My last experience however was lackluster and I was told my problem wasn’t covered and referred to someone else to provide me an estimate (whom didn’t show up). The survey for the company assigned by American Home Shield had already been sent and I completed it based on what I was told would happen (which of course didn’t happen). Therefore, I believe the surveys should be sent out a little later to avoid this issue.

Haven’t had really any big problems. The only consistent issue is follow up after service. I’ll get an email from AHS saying my work is completed, even if a part needs to be ordered and installed. I can’t contact the provider, I have to contact AHS and they will set up a time for the provider to return but the provider never seems to know this. But everyone is very nice and polite and seems to try and solve any issues I have.

AHS made it easy to make a claim, All Around appliance was prompt with calling and scheduling a time to come to the house, they were very flexible when I needed to schedule a couple of hours later in the day. What takes the longest is AHS approving the parts and getting them ordered, it’s beyond me why that part should take a week! Once the parts were in again All Around was speedy with the actual repair.

I never have a problem with them. I call or email the next day I get a call from AHS telling me who will be calling and they call usually same day and schedule my appt. I have never had any issues with any of the ones they have sent. I think they are GREAT!
