I have had American Home Shield for several years. Recently, my air conditioner went out. It was my understanding that they would repair or replace anything that went wrong with the covered appliance after I paid the $100 fee to the repairman. I am writing this review to warn future customers; THEY DO NOT. I was told that I had to pay $1150 to patch up an old unit that needed to be replaced, and they would pay for part of the repair. They did send me a check for the portion that they said they covered $860.

They started off great four years ago, then they changed for the worst! I had standing water under my refrigerator, I called them to send someone out. It took them a week to send someone, all while I'm calling daily to check the status. They finally send someone and that company did nothing said it was a different service request and not appliance (which he was). I called ASH and the poor customer service individuals who clearly read from scripts told me I just had to wait longer!!!! This is terrible service! And why is it called American anything cause nobody who I spoke with was American! I felt like I was not being heard and they did not care about my issue. Oh and not to mention, the price went up drastically from years ago. Needless to say I just cancelled my subsribition cause why have it if it doesnt serve its purpose.

Complete dismissal of how unsafe this was for my family has left me feeling unheard, unprotected, and questioning the value of the service I’ve paid into for years. I initially contacted AHS at the end of March about a failed AC unit. I live in FL, where temperatures in March already reach into the mid-80s. I have proof that my home’s interior temperature climbed to 86°F, despite running every fan available. This isn’t simply uncomfortable—it’s dangerous, especially for children. In fact, my child began experiencing headaches and nosebleeds as a direct result of the heat. When I reach out the messaging minimized this reality, suggesting it only becomes unsafe in “extreme temperatures.” That response was not only inaccurate, but dismissive of the clear health risks we were facing. The “solutions” I was given were either: 1. Pay for an upgrade out of pocket, or 2. Source and pay an outside HVAC company to attempt the repair—if they could even locate the backordered part (both tech and Geri told me there was a strong possibility they would not). In that case, I would only be given $600. Waiting 90 days in Florida heat was never a viable or safe option, yet that’s what your company suggested. What exactly were we supposed to do in the meantime—continue subjecting ourselves to unhealthy and unsafe living conditions? It is absolutely unacceptable to place your customers in that position. Because the part was unavailable and no timely repair was possible, your obligation under the contract was to provide a replacement. Instead, I was left with no choice but to act on my own, spending $3,494 to ensure the health and safety of my family. The $125 offered to me is not only insufficient—it adds insult to injury given the seriousness of what we endured. I’m not just disappointed. I feel abandoned by a company that promised to protect my home and stand behind its coverage. I have been a loyal customer for years. I never imagined I’d be left alone in a situation that jeopardized my family’s health. I will continue to escalate this matter until it is addressed appropriately and fairly.

Hello Melisa, Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with American Home Shield and your claim experience. We under stand The importance of having the AC unit in working condition. We also understand the need to feel heard and safe. We have notated your experience on your account for AHS to see. We see the blower motor was seized and the condenser coil was leaking. AHS was able to repair the unit. You were offered and upgrade as an option to get a new AC unit. We see the $600 was given to you as a concession to fix the issue. We are here to help you please let us know if you have you are still having issues with your system.

Extremely Disappointed with Service - A Health Hazard for My Family I am beyond frustrated with the way my case has been handled by this company. Our AC broke down on March 25, and the compressor needs to be replaced. Despite repeated calls to customer service, we have received no clear answers or urgency. I explained multiple times that we have a baby in the house and the indoor temperature is reaching 83°F, making it unbearable and unsafe. On March 28, we were told that the necessary parts would not arrive until April 8—over two weeks from the date of the breakdown. This is completely unacceptable! Living in Las Vegas, the extreme heat is a serious health concern, and I’m deeply worried about the well-being of my baby, who could be at risk of serious health issues. Yet, all we’ve been told is to "wait." The lack of urgency or even basic concern for our safety is incredibly disappointing. This is not the service I signed up for, and I will not be renewing my contract. I strongly advise others to think twice before signing up with this company. If you value your family’s safety and well-being, look elsewhere.

I would give 0 stars if possible! Set up a repair on December 2nd to have my dryer looked at, on December 6th the repair technician came out said he knew the issue and would order parts. Come the end of December still no contact from repair company and when reach out I’m told parts are on order. I wait another 2 weeks and reach out and told the same thing “parts are on order” so I give it another 2 weeks and this time I request to cancel my warranty or give me a different company to fix my dryer. Long story-short there are no other companies they contract with and try to reorder parts after 2 months. I ended up cancelling the warranty and working on getting all my money back. This was the 1st attempt to file a claim and would never recommend to anybody in Tucson area.

I would give them a zero if I could. What a complete waste of time. The "service pros" that they hire are completely incompetent or over charge on their service such that the warranty is useless. I had a dishwasher break in October 2024 --it's January and still not working. On multiple calls, I asked them to send a different pro and they refused. Finally, after 4 trips the "pro" sent the ticket to another "service pro" because per AHS they weren't familiar with our brand of dishwasher---but they were when they first came out? We'll see if the other "pro" is able to fix it --he did realize that the first pro had actually put in the wrong part. Now, trying to get the microwave fixed that the first service pro made worse and because past 30 days -they want to charge another service fee, even though I had made multiple calls noting that it wasn't fixed either. I've escalated twice, it's not worth the hassle. They literally do everything they can to avoid honoring the warranty. The interesting part is that if you do a search for reviews, they are hard to find --they have managed to address any search engine from showing the customers reviews and instead highlight the paid reviews which give the company much better rating. All in all, not worth the money to have the plan. Will not renew.

This is my first time dealing with this company. My washer is not working and I called them and they sent a very nice guy out and he said, the control board is not working and he ordered the part and put it on. Yes, I was able to wash the following Saturday but only one load. When I added the second load the washer made a humming noise and all the lights came on and it stopped working. I unplugged it and tried again and the same thing happened. I called and called until finally I got a RUDE guy with a nasty attitude. I asked him why is he so rude and he said I am not rude you called. I went into the elevator and the call was cut. I called back and I spoke with a very NICE lady and she said “ the note says can’t reach customer “ which is a bit fat LIE, because I spoke to someone. I wish I could leave half of a star. POOR customer service I will cancel my order after they resolve my washer. This company is not worth it!!!

In May, 2024 I requested HVAC service. They dispatched A-US AIR COND OF TEXAS LTD (SAN ANTONIO) . No one ever came to our house to perform any type of service. When I contacted A-US AIR COND OF TEXAS LTD (SAN ANTONIO) and AHS, they told me they had actually performed service. However they were unable to produce any documentation indicating any service was performed. I wound up paying for service that was never performed. Requested HVAC service again in August, 2024. American Air Conditioning of San Antonio installed a faulty thermostat that did correct the issue, but when we tried the heat for the first time this year, it would not come on. I had to pay a second service fee to get the thermostat replaced. STAY AWAY FROM AMERICAN HOME SHIELD

There choice for HVAC contractor is unacceptable. Reported an AC problem early on a Monday. The contractor could not get to me until Wednesday late. In essence 3 wasted days. Then the problem was misdiagnosed. Also, it took 6 days to get the misdiagnosed part. Then it 2 days to get the tech out. 11 days in 100° weather. Then 1½ weeks later it failed again. Turns out the tech didn't do a leak check which would have told him there was a coil leak. Then, AHS charged me $1400 for the repair, even though it's a $15,000 lifetime for my policy. They called it a "modification" so only $1000 of the $2400 was covered. Sketchy. There's more due to a plumbing issue, but that hasn't been resolved yet. I do not recommend AHS.

This company is a complete fraud. I have paid them thousands over the years for coverage for a 'home warranty.' This is a thing they offer, but do not actually provide. Today I opened a ticket for a washing machine which has steadily been growing louder and louder. After a 100.00 fee, in addition to all the fees they collect month after month, after month, it takes some days to get a contractor assigned and a 'tech' dispatched. Was this a tech? I don't think he was. I would call him an inspector, as he did absolutely nothing. Told me it is the transmission. Makes sense. Sounds like it. Go ahead and fix it. Oh, no. Must write a report and submit it to the 'warranty' company and see what they want to do. Took the day off for this. Then I get a call from the manager at the contractor to tell me that they can't diagnose the washer at all, unless it is 'moved out to a different room' while still hooked up. They need to be able to access all sides. What? I have no ability to do that. She then said that they cannot help me at all and to call American Home Shield to dispatch someone who can do what I need. Fine. But American Home Shield won't do that. They won't do anything until they have the report from the 'tech.' Fast forward to they have the report from the 'tech.' Which says not normal wear and tear, so not covered at all. They will not dispatch anyone. I am on my own. What makes it not normal wear and tear? How did they determine anything when they said that can't diagnose it without access to all sides? Thousands of dollars and an extra fee to do nothing. Thank you for giving me the runaround the whole day. Do they let you cancel? Not easy. But I'll be without coverage. I'm without coverage now! The 'coverage' isn't real! Try and get something repaired. Good luck. Oh, but don't cancel, we'll send someone else for a second opinion. For another 100.00 fee. No thank you. If American Home Shield wasn't such a scam they would be a joke.

• On 6/16/24, my freezer stopped working. I immediately submitted a claim with American Home Shield (AHS). Note that as of today, 66 days later, it still does NOT WORK!!! Not only does the freezer not work, NOW as of 8 days ago, my Fridge does NOT WORK! Both are at room temperature. My family and I have no way to store any perishable food, are forced to eat out and have thrown away hundreds of dollars of food that has spoiled. • About 7 days after the first claim was filed on 6/16, AHS hired a company called ADA to come out. At that appointment, the ADA tech said that the compressor is likely dead as there is likely a freon leak and told me that ADA will NOT WORK on my unit and not to mention this to AHS. I do not know why he said don’t tell AHS and honestly I don’t care. • It then took an additional 2 weeks for AHS to get second company out. At that appointment, Alpha (the 2nd company) said they could work on it and would order parts. I immediately called AHS and they told me that yes Alpha’s request for parts / labor to fix my fridge was approved and that I should call Alpha to find out an estimate for a date that the parts would be in. I called AHS to reconfirm because I was concerned that the same thing would happen with Alpha as it did with ADA. IT DID. • On August 10, I spoke with Alpha. They told me to call them on August 19 as that’s the likely first date the parts would come in and then we would schedule a repair date finally. • On August 12, unbeknownst to me, AHS CANCELLED Alpha (likely because they didn’t want to pay). I WAS NEVER INFORMED OF THIS and so from August 10-19 while my Fridge was starting to fail, NOTHING was done. AHS didn’t attempt to find another company to come out NOR inform me that Alpha has been fired. This alone cost me 10 days. Seriously???? • After speaking with Alpha on August 19, I called AHS again. In fact, I was on the phone for 3 hours that day (mainly listening to hold music). The first incompetent person at AHS I spoke to actually tried to reassign ADA – the first company again!!! I said to him over and over, why AHS they told me to my face that they wouldn’t work on my unit. He said not to worry that ADA would be able to help me!! Unbelievable incompetence!! • Later that day on August 19, I called AHS for the 4th time that day because I realized that allowing ADA to come out a second time would only result in another 2-3 weeks of getting nothing accomplished and I have NO REASON TO TRUST AHS. On that call, a different company was assigned me Sears. They told me don’t worry, Sears will work on built in GE Profile refrigerators. Sears called this AM the day of the appointment no less (8/21) and said, NO they do not work on built ins. This represents the 3rd company AHS tried to hire to fix my fridge that doesn’t work on the unit that I have!!!! The Sears debacle cost me at least another week! This is nothing less than gross negligence and utter incompetence on behalf of AHS!! • AHS has now identified a 4th potential company to come out. I asked the woman who set this one up – DID YOU CALL this company to find out if they work on GE Profile built in fridges? – she claimed she tried but got no answer. No appointment has been set for them to even come out nor do I have the information to call myself. When they finally do assign someone, I am going to have to do AHS’ job and call this company to find out (1) do they work on built in’s and (2) how often does AHS deny their submissions for repair due to cost. • As of today, 8/21/24, 66 days after the initial claim was submitted, I am no closer to getting my freezer fixed than I was on 6/16, my fridge is now also 100% dead, I have thrown out hundreds of dollars of food, my family and I have no fridge or freezer and are forced to eat out! • DO NOT USE American Home Shield, they only hire 4th rate companies to cheaply work on anything that is broken. They have NO customer service line, they will NOT let you speak to a manager, they outsource most of the people who answer the phone when you call – most of which have very thick accents and are hard to understand, they play games with you, they do not inform you of status changes (like when they fired Alpha). Worst home warranty company I have ever had!!!!!

I have been a client of AHS for the past 9 years. I purchased my property in July 2015 and AHS was the home warranty service provided by the seller at the time of purchase. I have continued the service with no break in payment since 2015. At the time I was pleased with their service, but over the last couple of years the customer service side has been less than responsive. This last service request has pushed me beyond the point of frustration to real anger. I know your customer service employees are limited in their ability to resolve conflict or dispute but I had yet to hear one of them reassure me - as a client for 9 years and many thousands of dollars spent - that I shpuld recieve the benefit of the doubt. They need to be able to stop reading from a script at some point and escalate to the appropriate department - in this case the Authorization authority - and allow me to resolve the dispute. I just became more furious when the poor guy said "I understand but . . . " As it stands, I have been assured that "someone" will reach out to me in the next 24-48 business hours. Unacceptable. I've submitted my complaint to the BBB for the following: "08/05 - Repair or replace a ceiling fan. Coverage denied. Claimed that a guest house on my property was not part of "covered property". American Home Shield has made covered repairs on the totality of my property - including the guest house - since the purchase of this property in July 2015. Now they are claiming that the guest house no longer qualifies because it is not "revealed" as part of my "covered property" as is not "foundationally connected" to the primary residence. That is only now an issue when I requested this one repair/replace service on 8/5/24. I paid the $100 service fee up front. Their authorization department denied my claim. They never have denied a covered service in the past when I requested service to the guest house as long as it was a covered service. I have the records to prove this. I have had no break in contract with them since the original seller purchased the plan for the sale of the property July 2015. I have read the contract. I have a copy of the contract which I will provide. They are breaking the original terms of the contract as it was established in July 2015" I will maintain my low rating until I have some resolution or decide to seek out a home warranty service that values the word and integrity of their clients. It has been 1 and 1/2 months that my air conditioning unit was broken by American home shield inspections and has not been fixed. They sent seven different opinion company to come see my unit. It's still not fixed. Every company come with different ideas and they offering me after 1 and 1/2 month. $275 to fix my AC. I was in the hospital. My wife was in the hospital they send technician to do the inspection yearly and then they broke my unit and said your coil evaporator has been broke and need to be replaced since then. Everyday I call my call goes to Philippine and they do not fix my problems I have request 17 time to speak to supervisor. I have not got any respond from the company. Every time I call customer service saying we are apologize. We know how you frustrated and we will make sure we will take care of you the next day the same the next week. The same no respond. I am taking American home shield to the court of law and then I will make sure I will put every proof I have to the social media. This company shouldn't be exist the way they treating customers. I am so frustrated with their policy and I hope the consumer affair or better Business bureau look it to this complaint. I did complain to the BBB and I will call my local congressman and attorney general office

Well, it has been 32 days, 5 visits, and 3 motors and my AC still isn't fixed. There's also now a giant 3x3' hole where my ceiling fell in due to the AC drip pan for the upstairs unit overfilling. AHS won't cover that as it is "secondary damage" despite the fact it was caused by the upstairs unit struggling to keep up with no downstairs unit for a month now in 90-degree weather. They also charged me a second service charge to have the tech look at the hole in the ceiling. Then told me it was not covered. After reporting them to the BBB they decided to refund the charge they conned me into as compensation. All bait and switch and they can translate the contract however they see fit. The technician ordered the wrong motor twice, and the one time he got the right one, he ran the ground wire on top of the unit and screwed it into painted metal so it fried the system. I'm lucky the house didn't catch fire. Meanwhile, AHS has been denying any wrongdoing, claiming the repair is on track to the BBB. Do not trust this company, they will not support you. Oh, and three different AHS employees told me the hole was covered. Fourth said it wasn't but they would review calls and if I was told it is covered, they would cover it. The escalation person admitted that I was misinformed on all four phone calls and they would not be doing anything for me. Rather, I was informed they would be disciplining the four employees. I wasn't trying to get someone written up. I just want the service I paid for to actually get done.

I carried a warranty with AHS for 10 years because I owned homes with aging AC systems. I’m 99% certain that I never made a claim that required more than my deductible to fix. My AC went out 9 days ago and it is July in Kansas which means the humidity is basically the same as the outside temperature. I have called several times each day and they are still unable to give me a timeline of when it will be fixed. The temperature is an actual health risk right now, so I’ve had to vacate my home and the humidity is murdering my hardwood floors and home office equipment. They won’t even let you talk to a supervisor when you ask. Just put you on hold for three minutes and then tell you the supervisors are too busy. You’re better off saving the monthly premium and handling your own equipment repairs

Garage Door opener broke (the springs). They are covered per the contract. Been over 30 days and NOT a single contractor with in 100 miles wants to work with AHS so they are forcing me to take a CASH-IN-LIEU offer. The offer is $170 when the CHEAPEST estimate i have is $580. AHS is stating they are only offering to pay for fraction of the cost because they aren't covering labor. NOW my contract CLEARLY states they are to pay a reasonable repair fee which include parts and labor. they are refusing... So I have to pay my $94 monthly fee. $125 service fee.... they are going to pay me $170. SOOOOO that means i lost $49 to them PLUS the $400-$600 for the repair. Tell me how that is service? So in the end it is costing me EXTRA money to have their service, not to mention the calls and frustration for the last 1.5 months. My car was trapped in the garage for 3 weeks. FYI their contract states 48 hours. It has been more than 48 DAYS. Why does the Government let companies steal money like this?

I would like to express my complete dissatisfaction with the terrible service at American Home Shield. I have been a loyal customer for years with American Home Shield and once something expensive like the water heater or A/C doesn't work they find ANY excuse not to pay. Last month, I reported to American Home Shield that my A/C was not cooling off. American Home Shield sent a third party company called "Complete Air Mechanical Of Central FL" to inspect and fix my home A/C. "Complete Air Mechanical Of Central FL" arrived at my home, make an inspection and took several photographs of the coil and A/C. After the inspection "Complete Air Mechanical Of Central FL" sent a report to American Home Shield that the reason the A/C was not working was due to "Mold or Mildew" in the A/C. Based on this fact (which is a lie), American Home Shield informed me they will not cover the A/C coil replacement or labor due to "Mold or Mildew", they allegedly claim is present in the A/C coil and sent me an estimate of almost $4,500 dollars. I contacted American Home Shield to request the photographs containing the Mold or Mildew "Complete Air Mechanical Of Central FL" claims my home A/C coil had as evidence. I was informed by American Home Shield that American Home Shield did not have these photographs and to contact "Complete Air Mechanical Of Central FL" for these photographs. At the same moment, I called "Complete Air Mechanical Of Central FL" and they informed me they could not share with me the A/C coil images containing Mold or Mildew, the A/C inspection report or provide a detailed estimate to me. They told me to contact American Home Shield directly as I was a Client of American Home Shield not their Client. Furthermore, "Complete Air Mechanical Of Central FL" informed me that once they uploaded all the information online to American Home Shield, that information is gone from the "Complete Air Mechanical Of Central FL" system. Since then, I had called six (06) times to American Home Shield, spoke with 3 associates, 3 supervisors and 1 customer complain department, asking for: a. the release of the A/C coil images containing Mold or Mildew; b. the release of the A/C full inspection report; and c. a copy of the detailed estimate for almost $4,500 dollars to know what is included in the estimate they provided. To continue with the terrible service by American Home Shield, in my online login at the American Home Shield online portal, there is a disclaimer that reads under the estimate: "*American Home Shield cannot guarantee the accuracy of this estimate. Furthermore they show me pictures and said: THERE WAS NO MOLD OR MILDEW!!!! Therefore, either the company "American Home Shield", "Complete Air Mechanical Of Central FL" or "both companies" together, want to take advantage of me as a customer one more time. For the lack of transparency of both companies until now, it gives the irrefutable impression that these companies are running a "FRAUD scheme"!!!!!!!!

I had service on my garage door that was not opening. Under the plan it states that springs are covered under warranty. I was charged for one spring and technician kept coming back stating that this needed replaced, and even referred to himself as "sounding like a used car salesman," b/c of all the padding he was doing of "what needed fixed." It ended up costing me over $1500 to get repaired. I had no clue what the total was until I was presented with the total bill and shock of it. I will not be renewing based on this one experience. I feel I was taken advantage of by the company who was sent to fix the garage door.

I wish and hope I could give a negative review. It's my biggest mistake that I took a Home Warranty plan from American Home Shield. If you are willing to wait for a month or so to resolve your issue, then only go for this company. If there is any urgency or emergency at your home and you need to get things fixed, then please forget it; it's never going to happen. The best part is, AHS does not take responsibility for any work delay, and they will not call you to give any updates. It's your responsibility to call them every time, and every time, they just say sorry for the delay. I had a leakage in the bathroom that was damaging my garage wall. It took them more than a month, and it still hasn't been fixed. When I asked for any senior person to give me a call back, that person said, "Sir, you have to wait; this is the process," which made me furious because it had been more than two weeks, and I was living with a leakage and damaged wall. On top of that, she told me, "Sir, read the contract; this is what you signed up for, so you cannot talk to us like that, and you have to wait. IF you thinking taking AHS service than please reconsider you decision or get ready for long n longer wait and just pray to god that your issue get resolve in time

I've had AHS at three homes for over ten years now and never filed a claim. Two weeks ago ago during my A/C inspection (I did not use AHS for this) we were told our A/C vents in our crawl space needed replacing and to my horror a water leak was discovered. The leak was from inside my wall for a shower. I contacted AHS for both problems and two separate technicians were sent out. That was almost two weeks ago and so far nothing. Both companies are waiting for approval from AHS. I was able to isolate the leak but waiting this long is totally unacceptable. One bathroom is unusable. Starting to think I've paid for this insurance for this long and it's nothing but a scam.

Upon requesting service for my pool heater, which was initially attended to approximately two years ago, I encountered a discrepancy in the technical diagnosis. The initial technician recommended a complete unit replacement due to incorrectly installed lines, a solution not covered by AHS. However, a subsequent independent evaluation contradicted this, resulting in a successful repair. Recently, the issue resurfaced, and the original technician, upon return, inaccurately attributed the malfunction to the gas regulator. My request for a second opinion was, regrettably, denied by AHS. This pattern of responses suggests a possible reluctance to replace units, leading me to decide against future engagements with this company.

DO NOT BUY IF YOU LIVE IN A RURAL AREA - IT'S A SCAM! Bought a warranty for my mother's house in rural Michigan. Put in a service request for her fridge and they couldn't find anyone to fix it. Said we could look, we couldn't find anyone and paid out of pocket. Had an issue with her furnace. Called for a list of approved providers, they wouldn't provide one and we couldn't find anyone who took AHS and paid out of pocket again. Called to cancel contract and ask for full refund. After endless script entries trying to get me to keep it, they refunded the service fee for the fridge but refused to refund the monthly premiums and CHARGED ME A $21.95 fee to cancel a contract that was worthless. This was false advertising of the highest order. AHS claimed they covered the area (a competitor wouldn't provide a quote because they were honest and said they couldn't provide coverage in her area), took my money knowing they could never provide service to her area. I'm out $400 due to these scammers. Stay away.

We bought a home in October 2023. The home came with an American Home Shield Warranty. Shortly after moving in, the stove top developed an issue. You either have high or no heat so it is useless. We filed a claim with American Home Shield and still have no resolution April 8, 2024). What good is a kitchen without a stove? When calling the company you are transferred to somewhere outside of the country where non native English speakers do not offer any help. Before we knew that the warranty was useless, we purchased a warranty for each of our other two homes and now we feel completely robbed because there is no way to get our many back that was paid in good faith to a business that has not met their obligation to repair or replace the covered appliance in our home which is essential. DO NOT BUY THIS WARRANTY! IT IS A TOTAL WASTE OF HARD-EARNED MONEY!

I had been with AHS over the span of 25 years and three homes. Unfortunately, I have seen the service deteriorate during that time and, as of today, I'm done with them. STAY AWAY FROM AMERICAN HOME SHIELD. I had been attempting to get a refrigerator icemaker repaired over the last 2 years. During that time, AHS sent out 4 different companies. One of the earlier companies fully disassembled the icemaker and used a hair dryer / heat gun to thaw the ice. While I didn't know it at the time, but the heat did damage and the tech broke some additional parts behind the icemaker and didn't put all the parts back. Fast forward 1.5 years and we had Samsung come out, at AHS' request, to see if they would warranty repair; Samsung refused the warranty due to the heat damage, missing parts, and the additional damage behind the icemaker assembly. In fact, Samsung now says it is not repairable. Over the last 6 months, I have worked with AHS to resolve the problem their techs caused. Depending on who I spoke with, I have been told numerous times they would do a cash out or replace. Call in a month later and they tell me it's my problem, because the damage is not "normal wear and tear." After going back and forth with them, I'm finally done. You win AHS...and lose. Will never go back to you again and will let everyone I know to stay away from you.

Lately I've had bad experiences with the company I elected to advocate for me during repairs. The first time after receiving my replacement refrigerator it broke down two days later, the company assigned by ahs to repair the fridge ordered the incorrect part and never came back to complete the repair after at least a month, fortunately ahs contracted another company they repaired the fridge. Secondly the repairman misdiagnosed the problem with my dryer three times and after complaining a new company was assigned and I brought a new dryer and ahs warranty reimbursed me. Lastly a nightmare I called concerning a clogged utility sink T Mayes Plumbing was assigned in January for the repair the plumbers couldn't solve the problem , the plumbers cut my pipe causing a leak which was damaging my problem I was afraid the dampness would cause termites. water bugs a pest infestation> T Mayes plumber told my husband they would later contact us after they speaking to their manager about the pipe they damaged, Later I received a email from T Mayes asking for a review of completed work, how can the work be complete when my property was damaged leaving me in a worse situation not leaving me whole. American home shield warranty notified me after the plumbing company they assigned to resolve my problem made a false report and never contacted me initially but offer to replace the sink for almost 2,000 dollars as my only option, AHS never listened to my concerns when I complained about a leaking pipe when the plumbing company caused. I was told by their agent Ryan to contact the plumbers directly to come back and fix my pipe. The plumbers wrote a false report about my drain stack which they never tried to resolve the problem this way, the plumbers cut the pipe without trying alternate ways to resolve the problem< Someone called me from T Mayes trying to solicit me into resolving my problem by letting their company install an updated sink, I asked why should I entrust further work to them when they cut my pipe causing a leak. I was told my pipe was damaged because the sink was concrete, I replied they should've informed me of the risks before cutting my pipe. I complained to AHS unsuccessfully. before hiring another plumbing company, who resolved the leakage and verified, they never tried to resolve the problem through the drain stack this company gave me the option to unclog the sink or purchase a new sink which would be extremely cheaper. I elected not to purchase a new sink I was extremely satisfied with the work. I called AHS to ask for reimbursement and was rudely told by Jen that "No one told me to call another plumber and I should've allowed them to resolve the problem, I was told claim denied and never contacted again I told their representative the plumber made a false report and never contacted me concerning damaging my pipe but tried to charge me over 1,700 to update my sink when another company gave me options to replace the sink or repair. I was continuously dismissed by the company who was to advocate for me. I have the report from the other company. How long does it take T Mayes Plumbing to speak with their manager to resolve this conflict making me whole.

American Home Shield has refused to supply me, a platinum level warranty customer, a receipt for the installation of a furnace. I have spent over 6 hours on the phone with their “customer service” call center and been promised 3 times over a week’s time, that they would email it over. I am under contract with a buyer for the sale of my house, and the lender will not move forward without the receipt. AHS does not care about their customers, no matter how much you pay. I have been forced to hire an attorney as I am now going to be forced into foreclosure after being under contract with this buyer for 3 months! AHS should not be allowed to be in business, and I would give them ZERO STARS if I could.

Please, please don't wash your money down the drain with this company. Place that $84.99 in a savings account and use it for home repairs. This product will NEVER pay for itself. 1) The companies they contract with are nearly always 1-star kind of places that are neither reputable nor honest. That's no wonder, as AHS is horrible to its providers and pays them pennies on the dollar. Reputable repair companies (I've spoken with several) have all broken ties with them. You cannot choose your own repair company. There will be ONE vendor in your area available, maybe 2. 2) If you have a big-ticket item, it will not be covered. Your contract will say that it is there to cover normal wear and tear. But not if it's a $3,000 evaporator coil. They'll pay for labor and a few other things. You'll owe $3,000 of the $3700 bill. 3) You will WAIT and WAIT and WAIT for repair. The repair company will indeed call you within 24-hours per contract, but they will not be able to come assess your leaking water heater for 3 more days. Then they will need to put you on the schedule for replacement once AHS approves it, which will take another 2-3 days. So plan on being without hot water for a week. You will call AHS and find that there is no "emergency" or "escalated" importance process for claims. You contract will state that your vendor does not have to arrive at the residence before 7 days. And I promise, as a warranty claim, you are not the priority. A friend will be able to call them separately for service and they will magically be able to respond the following day. 4) You'll still have to pay - a lot. Even if the cost of the water heater is covered, there will be elements that "must be modified for liability" that will cost 75% of the total cost of replacement ($1400 - we replaced on our own for $2200 the next day instead of waiting a WEEK for water). Friend, it's just not a wise investment.

Had the warranty for over 3 years, furnace just went out and while they approved a replacement, they denied the costs to connect it to the required and existing drain, flue and vent. The policy specifically states coverage of all parts and components of heating system up to $5000 so these should be covered. They would not give me any details on the furnace they would use to replace mine, wouldn't tell me the BTUs or efficiency rating etc. The policy states replacement will be comparable or better than existing. In lieu of replacement they offered me $1494.60 as a cash settlement but when I called a local reputable HVAC company they told me that their wholesale cost on a comparable furnace to mine was more than this plus installation costs. I have spoken to 6 people at the company including 2 supervisors and they keep saying they see my point, they agree but won't budge. I said if you won't provide the coverage outlined in the policy then I'd like a refund of my $3,314.61 I've paid in premiums. They said sure but the refund would only be for this policy year that started in October so 3 months worth instead of the full 39. Based on my interactions to date with American Home Shield, I believe that they promise coverage and then weasel out of anything they can. This has been a colossal waste of my time and money and I still don't have a resolution..

STAY AWAY from this company. If I am able to select anything lower then 1 star, I would do that. I've been a customer for 12 years now, paying around $700 a year. I think I've only had to call for service a handful of times. Paying $700 a year, and having to pay the additional $100 for each service call is ok. That is if they don't literally find any possible reason to get out having to pay for any type of service when you need it the most. I am absolutely furious with this company, because my furnace stop working when we need it the most. And they are refusing to pay to service the unit. Terrible company. Terrible customer service.

No one should ever use AHS, they are the worst and just lie to your face!! In the 2 years I was a customer I filed for 2 claims; one for a broken garage door, and one for a broken jet tub. Despite garage doors and jet tubs both being on their list of covered items, both claims were denied. Based on the fine print of the contract they said the garage door was broken by an electric serge which isn't covered, and the jet tub break down doesn't cover the jet itself, so that was also denied. I called up customer support on the last one in an outrage after getting an email from them when the plumber did the diagnosis and the email from AHS themselves said "We’ve got some good news! We received the diagnosis of your Whirlpool Bathtub from HONESTY MECHANICAL LLC, and your Service Request has been approved,.." Despite the tub being a listed item that should be covered and that email that they sent me, they still refused to pay for any part of the repair. Once I realized this company is just a scam I decided I wanted to cancel my service with them. Only THERE IS NO WAY TO CANCEL SERVICE ONLINE, YOU MUST CALL THEM TO CANCEL. I was put through 3 different people getting hung up on in-between customer service calls forcing me to call again just to cancel. The first 2 people I talked to about canceling promised to refund 1/2 of my service charge for having the plumber come out and do the diagnosis of the tub since they wouldn't approve for the plumber to actually do any repair work. The last customer service agent promised to waive that entire fee after I complained for 20 minutes. Then they went back on their promise and billed my credit card the entire plumber diagnosis fee anyway despite those 3 promises from 3 different customer service agents to waive 1/2 or the whole thing. THIS COMPANY IS JUST A SCAM!!!

We used them the first year to repair a broken stove that was red tagged and the contractor they fixed didn't quite fix it; the gas company did once they came a second time by cleaning some of the parts that created the blockage. This year they just denied a claim because the control valve of our water heater leaked gas, and the gas company red tagged it. First the denial reason was it was covered under warranty because it was 1 year old which it wasn't. Then they said the plumber said it was improperly installed because it didn't have an expansion tank; but when we contacted the city they stated those are recommended but not required, also this was a gas leak due to the control valve being faulty, not a valve leak that was leaking water. Then they said it was because i had a warranty that covered the parts (not labor). The plumber sent me text messages saying that this company didn't understand the warranty and that it was an easy fix. It's been 5 days since we had hot water and now I'm boiling water and using that to bathe.

If your problem is covered by all of their fine print then it's a decent service. $125 visit fee and the technician is motivated to actually repair it rather than talking you into a new appliance. HOWEVER, the fine print gets you almost every time. Here are our last 3: 1) Won't repair our Samsung Ice Maker because it's a "known problem" 2) Will only cover $1500 for a roof repair - their estimate came in at $2500 so we owe $900 still. 3) Wine Fridges are not covered as an appliance. We will be canceling this service.
