Capital One offers 19 different types of cards, allowing you to choose the best credit card based on your credit score, rate and fee preferences, and different rewards offerings.
Capital One seeks to provide a credit card option for every consumer. Those who are looking to rebuild credit can apply for a secured credit card, an offering that is not available with every credit card company. Those with excellent credit can choose from various cash back cards, or pick a rewards credit card, offering points or miles on airlines, hotels, or other travel expenses. Capital One also offers store credit cards for those with excellent credit scores.
Each credit card listed on Capital One's website lists the purchase rate, transfer information, annual fee, and credit level required for approval, making it easy to see at a glance what options might be best for you.
Capital One offers a secured credit card for consumers with bad credit, or those trying to rebuild credit.
Secured cards require a security deposit, which becomes your credit limit. Capital One requires a deposit of $49, $99, or $200 for an initial credit line of $200. This secured card is unique in that the security deposit is refundable, and the customer will be automatically considered for a higher credit line after six months. The card does not have an annual fee, but the APR rate is relatively high, at least compared to regular credit cards, at 26.99 percent variable APR.
For the majority of their cards, excluding secured cards used for building credit, Capital One offers attractive rewards to its cardholders.
Rewards vary based on each card. It is important to note that some cards do not allow rewards, including cash back, on all purchases. Some cards, such as the Savor® Rewards and SavorOne® Rewards cards only offer cashback on dining and entertainment. It is important to read all details provided to choose the rewards card that will best fit your needs.
Capital One offers credit cards with a 0% intro APR, which is not necessarily unique to this card issuer. For those with excellent credit, they can apply for a card that will not require interest rate payment for the first 12–15 months.
Consumers with poor to fair credit will not be approved for cards with a 0% APR offering, and can generally expect higher rates.
Capital One does not charge foreign transaction fees, which is a nice benefit for cardholders who travel frequently. Instead, foreign purchases will be automatically converted at the foreign exchange rate at the time of payment processing.
Through CreditWise® by Capital One, customers can access and view their credit history at no additional cost, and with no ramifications to their credit score.
It is important to note that CreditWise uses a different credit scoring model than the commonly used FICO score model. Both models are based on similar key factors that lenders look at when considering you for a credit offer.
Customer security is Capital One's top priority. To protect a customer's credit card information, as well as bank account and debit card information, Capital One offers a number of fraud safeguards. Its associates are required to complete security training, and there are systems and protections put in place to protect a customer's personal information, such as their social security number.
If your card is lost or stolen, Capital One has listed phone numbers that you can call for immediate assistance. Upon contacting Capital One, your identity will be verified before account information is discussed or shared.
Capital One offers credit cards with no annual fees, but there are various cards that have a required fee. Annual fees range from $39–$95, which is significantly lower that other card issuers, such as American Express that has some cards with an annual fee of $250.
However, the higher the annual fee, the bigger the rewards that can be offered on that credit card.
Capital One charges a fee for late payments, which varies depending on the card.
Easy Approval and Credit Limit Increase. i have a lot of credit cards and this by far is the best because i am not getting numerous telemarketing calls from them. They send me everything through email, even my statements. They send me a reminder of when my next billing cycle is due. When i had a question they were helpful and kind.
easy, fast approval and you get your card within less than 10 days. Interest rate is high. Payments are affordable. Customer service is nice depending on the agent you get. Easy to make payment arrangements. Statements were readable.
Always been good from their rates to customer service.
easy and fast approval. credit limit increase came at the perfect time. customer service always kind and helpful. monthly payments were affordable.
This was the first company to approve me for a credit card. My credit wasn't that great and they still approved me. They help build credit and they even helped me get back into shape when I missed some payments. They are so good to their customers.
Good terms and special offers. I appreciate the cash advance rate and terms.
fast easy application, got my card within a few, easy activation, customer service was good, didn't have to wait long on the line to speak to a represenatative. credit limit when i needed it was very quick to do.
I have enjoyed my credit card through capital one because of the points I receive for free travel. It adds up fast!
I have had a Venture credit card for the last few years. I love it! I love the double miles reward on every purchase. I don't like the $60 annual fee, but since I probably earn close to $1500 a year in points, I cannot complain too much. I use this card for everything.
This is the greatest card! (We have the Venture card). We earn roughly $1500 of travel per year using this card. It helps to pay for our yearly cruise. I love just having one card so that I can easily keep track of expenses and payments. We have never had a problem with this company. We have now had the card 3 years.
If you want to travel more, this is the credit card to own. I feel really safe owning this cards. If you own a Capital One card, it will help you look for any travel that may have been charged so that you receive the proper credit. One of the best decisions I made was getting a Capital One Card... 5 STARS!
We have never had a problem with them. Customer service is always helpful when I had to call in. Their mobile app is very convenient and easy to use.
Spent hours online and on phone trying to add my spouse to checking account to no avail. I found it frustrating that such a simple, reasonable request couldn't be handled.
I really like their credit card and they make it very easy to link your credit card account to your bank accounts for easy payments and such. They have a good cash back/rewards benefit.
Our capital one card is convenient to use in many locations.
Love our capital one. Love the cash rewards.
Great card to have for emergencies although customer service could improve. They call times are always long and they are quick to resolve your problem but are not very patient if you have more than one issue.
I like their online banking platform. Intuitive and sleek.

Good card however can be difficult to resolve issues. Customer service tries very hard to limit issue to one call resolutions.
I have always been impressed with the individual attention given to the customers. They have gone above and beyond to ensure that my needs are met to my satisfaction. In addition, there are no hidden fees that I have ever stumbled upon--staff seem very transparent and deliver excellent service.
Security on cards is good. However, customer service is NOT great. Sometimes it takes forever for my payment to process on their end, even after they have pulled the money from my checking account. Very difficult to get my credit limit increased, and I have never missed a payment.
Website is easy to use. Sometimes have to wait to get through to customer service on the phone.
Never had a problem with my credit card. They also give you credit wise for free so you can check your credit as much as you want and not damage it.
This card gives opportunity for someone whose credit may not be great, so it's great for rebuilding. They are also good at increasing credit lines in a timely manner. The interest rates are too high, but that's to be expected.
I have and use a Capital One card for many years and, by far, they have been the best Company, of many, that I have used. Whenever I had any issue their customer service has been beyond excellent in satisfying my problem in a professional, caring and expeditious manner. I am not a big fan of commercials but Capital One's "Don't leave home without it" slogan rings true for me.
I like my Captial One credit cards, especially. Really no issues from them as long as I have done my part and paying my bills on time. Even received credit raises without asking.
Love this card. Interest is high, but I knew that before getting it. Great customer service and love the credit wise report I can check anytime.
Lowest rate card I have. Customer service is excellent.
I love my credit card and it all it’s perks. Lots of options to use for cash back or travel.
I am getting a lot of great airmiles using my Capitol One Travel card. I use it at Costco in Canada and I have no complaints.
Great customer service and rates.. Have been a customer for over 20 years now.
Tons of option with money market accounts, savings, and checking accounts as well
Conservative company which is good. Maybe too much so....never give credit line increase. lol
They have been very helpful in all ways that's why I try my best to keep it up to date and paid off
john a williams
they do everything well. It is sometimes difficult to reach someone but they have a lot of senior customers like me so i can understand.
Excellent service for fraud and user friendly website efficiency
Best service. Great credit line. No hassles. Wonderful fraud team.
They are very professional and they keep a very close eye on transactions and alert you immediatly
AMAZING EXPERIENCE! It is not hard to get in touch with customer service. They have an easy to use app you can download to keep an eye on your balance and spending. The app also let's you know what percentage of your credit you have spent and how it can affect your credit.
They stand behind you and if you have a fraudulent purchase they will reimburse you. If someone gets your card number they have no problem sending you a new card.
They are good but sometimes you get a customer service person that is not friendly
Increased my Credit Limit without my requsting it
Great app! No yearly charge. 1.5 Miles per dollar!
The high interest rate renders this company less than preferable in general.
No problems, clear they are very helpful if you have any questions.
Very easy to communicate with and my card is used everywhere
Their int. rate is too high, & they suck.
They advise me when my bill is due, tell me when I've made a payment, fedexed me a new card the day after fraud was detected and I get miles or money.

Because they gives you a chance to establish credit then any other companies
Great all around service; cash back for every purchase; credit score grew while using Capital One
