I initially had a good run with Choice but when it really counted they let me down. I had an old A/C unit that had clearly been struggling for a long time. The technician came out and did his analysis and submitted the issues that he identified to include an overheated an overworked system due to not keeping up with demand. He also included pictures. Choice Home Warranty then denied my request based off of the pictures claiming that I had not maintained my system properly. I'll be out lots of money now replacing my A/C on my own. Very disappointed customer.

Everything sounded great but fast talking salesman, J L, didn't like it when I wanted to research company and everthing he was saying. When conversation didn't go his way he just talked faster and louder and wouldn't let me talk and when he realized he wasn't going to bully me into giving him $1485.00 today. I told him I didn't like what he was doing and cancel all transactions. When I told him I would dispute any charge he tried sneaking thru on my credit he simply hung up on me. I certainly hope all sales reps aren't trained like this, it is not a good representation of any company. He has already submitted a charge and trust me it will be disputed as soon as it is posted to my account, Now I feel like I was tricked even if it is a reputable company your phone sales rep are not!

It takes too long to get someone out to have it looked at and it’s almost impossible to get someone on the phone. In another words it’s a lot of work to get something that you pay for IE: the warranty : in Another words if you can wait atleast a week for things to be just looked and NOT REPAIRED then this is perfect. I however do not want a water leak running for a week before it can be looked at .

Everything is fine except a small sentence in the contract that says they may offer cash as a replacement for an appliance less than retail cost. I got $240 to replace my dishwasher. A comparable unit costs around $500. If you sign up with these people negotiate that clause out of the contract.

So far I’ve had 3 experiences with CHW. The first was for my refrigerator and ice maker that you said was under warranty and you refused to fix. The ice maker was not under warranty after I made some phone calls. The second was for my refrigerator evaporator coil that was never repaired after waiting for over 6 weeks . This was not CHW fault since I never complained to them instead I believed what the technician kept telling me. My sons finally gave up waiting and they bought me a new refrigerator . This time it was my A/C and now your saying you aren’t responsible for repairing the coil. It seems that you have one BS excuse after another if it’s a high end repair. I will be reavaluating whether to continue with HCW.

Initially everything seemed okay, after two service calls the Home Choice review department became EXTREMELY pedantic on what they interpreted to be covered items. On 06/04/2021 I had to submit a service request for an exterior faucet leak. Home choice approved the request and dispatched a tech after 3 days. The vendor wrote up a description to submit as part of SOP for repair, and home choice replied that the request would be under review after all. Mind you I have taken off work to meet the tech at my house on this day. I called Home Choice to find out what was going on and was told I should just wait as their “review” could take up to 4 hours. So They approve, I take off work, they communicate to the tech (they initially approved) to do no work while they “review” for up to 4 hours, and of course I have an ongoing leak for which I had to turn water off to my home as all this fiasco is going on. Obviously I was not pleased with the response and I requested to speak with a supervisor. “Ok, one will respond to you within 24 hours...”. Seriously, that is verbatim what I was told. I ultimately just told the repairmen to perform the needed repair and I would pets pay the expense. Home Choice finally got done with their “review” circa 5 hours later, and denied the claim. I can deal with a rejected claim per the contract terms, but to initially approve and then waste both I and the tech’s time and tell me it could take up to 4 hours with no explanation when I have taken off work is just unreasonable and terrible, terrible customer service. Don’t even get me started on the “a supervisor can return your call after 24 hours line”. It was just awful. I seriously regret purchasing a contract and am contemplating canceling and seeking a pro rata refund. My customer review is that you would be better off saving your money and time and not buying a contract from this company.

The technician that was at our home was great , but Choice Home warranty in general are not, and I am totally unsatisfied by their terms and services. 1. Although the service fee for a technician is lower than most other warranties , their coverage is horrible , and they always look for a way how not to cover the service. it turns out that for each service , apart from appliances , they have limit of $500 a year , which is a joke , as usually you reach that limit on the 2nd service... . I had a problem with my shower , and they sent someone to fix it . After less than 2 months , the fix was broken again. When I opened another ticket to fix it , they told me ( after the technician came not before ... ) that I am over the limit for plumbing, so they did not want to cover it. 2. Although the technician told me that the current problem is because of the fix they did ( the valve they installed does not do the work ) , since it was over 30 days , they would not cover it. I expect them to stand behind what they do , and not look for ways not pay... 3. If CHW doesn't cover a service or if I reached my above limit , I expect to be notified BEFORE the technician comes , but not with CHW.... They did send the technician , I paid him the service fee (again ) , and then he contacted them and they declined it, as it was over the $500 ridiculous amount they cover... 3. When I signed for 3 years plan ( they push to do that , and I am OK with that ) , they through in additional 6 month free . Sounds good , correct ? well not so much ... since now the $500 a year is for 14 months , not 12 . What they did is took the 6 free months, and divided them to the 3 years of warranty , and now I have to wait 14 month for the counter to get to zero again , instead of 12 month, so what did the extra free 6 months help me ??? 4. It is very hard to reach the customer service by phone , and yes , I know it is Covid time and they have a lot of calls , but this is not an excuse ! Obviously we all use other services of external contractors/vendors, and in 99% of the cases , you still get a reasonable service if you try to reach services you are entitled to ( like my cables company , my cellphone provider , our Walgreens pharmacy , etc. ) Bottom line - I did have other home warranty vendors in the past ,and Yes they charged more sometimes , but the the coverage and the services by CHW simply sucks!! ( the contractors they send are OK most of the time ) , and you never know what kind of a reason they will find now , not to pay for the fix .

I have had Choice Home Warranty since 2018 and put in a claim on May 25, 2021, and they assigned vendor DJB Design to my claim. The contractor came to my home at 8:00 pm on May 27, 2021. He stated that he was going to come back first thing Friday morning to check to see if the air conditioner is working properly. Well, the contractor never came back to check on the air conditioner. I have called as well as text this contractor he says that he will be at my home at a certain time he never came or call to say that he is or not coming. I called Choice Home Warranty and the customer service made me feel like it was my fault why the contractor has not shown up. Every time I contact CHW they refused to accommodate me as a customer for that reason I will be canceling my contract with CHW.

There is no urgency when it come to the more important things that are needs. It was not a dishwasher or a fridge that was not working it was a hot water heater. Something we have to have with a family of 4. It was very disappointing how this process was handled. We still have not had our service completed so we will see if this process gets worse before it gets better.

This company has terrible practices because they do not cover the warranty of the house that should be covered as the homeowner is entitled. An example is an essential garage spring that broke in my home, originally from when it was built 22  years ago. They said they do not cover it because they do not match the same color.  The technician that came to my house assured me that they would cover it because it has an average year of usage and reached the number of openings. The company is looking for excuses not to cover the warranty, and  I paid a lot of money that my house is covered but not. I cannot trust all these companies. Please beware, it is the business practice to deny for any reason to enrich themselves.

My argument on your refusal to accept my air conditioner claim is your advertisements for making promises and then denying claims. Or as stated in the Attorney General of Arizona’s case against you, “for allegedly making false promises to consumers who purchased a home warranty policy. The lawsuit alleges Choice Home Warranty collected millions from Arizona consumers, but used contract exclusions, payment caps, and bad-faith refusals to avoid paying for repairs.” Our claim was sent on May 28, 2021. You did let us know on May 29, 2021 that Grace Heating and Air would respond on June 1, 2021 (on the fifth day). We are now on our 6th day with no air in Savannah, GA and no solution in sight. The technician has let us know that we need a new air conditioner both inside and outside. DO NOT BUY THIS!

Awful company, buyer beware, hidden limits buried in the contract. They will tell you anything to get the sale but it is a bunch of bull. Cannot understand customer service staff located in South America! They are all like robots. I talked to an escalation manager who told me she does not have a boss, can you imagine a manager in a company with no boss? I asked her to restate that and she said yes, she has no boss she reports to. If she’s so empowered why didn’t she fix my situation? Choice Home is just as bad, if not worse than the others, they have no agreements with local people to come out even for a service call and diagnosis. I loathe this scam of a company, should be investigated for fraud

Very disappointed that you did not cover at least a portion of my upcoming service for my AC. I had been satisfied up until now, but I would not recommend this company again. American Home Shield at least covered a portion of the replacement of my outside condensing unit; I don't understand the difference. I certainly would not expect you to cover the entire cost, but some relief would have been nice. I am VERY DISAPPOINTED in the way this was handled financially. Nothing but slam, bam, you owe $4200, plus the $85 service call.

Usually the service provided was prompt and efficient - not this-time! I requested service , was notified they were having difficulty obtaining such service - no problem! Then they offered to let me procure my own service and then be reimbursed - good idea —) however ! The process for reimbursement is so convoluted that no servicing repairman can do it in a timely fashion!! Needing the repair, I authorized the work and am now out @$200 ! I’m no contemplating dropping my coverage and going with a new company - I’ve been with you for many years!! Not a happy customer!!!!!!!!😖😖😖😖😖😖

I had a bad water heater, and it took to long for them to send me someone. I had to seek a plumber to do it right away otherwise i was told i would have to wait for thusrs. I sorry but i could not wait. There's 3 adults and 2 children here so i had to do something quicker.

This is the most frustrating company I have ever dealt with. I had no refrigerator for 6 weeks because every service call was a waste of time. The refrigerator could not be fixed. When I asked Choice how many service calls and weeks we had to go through before we could declare it garbage I was told there’s no limit. It seemed absolutely ridiculous to waste the time and money on service calls. I threw away a lot of food that became garbage over this time as well. My air conditioner stopped working as well and three service appointments were canceled for that repair as well. This company is so aggravating to deal with the service companies don’t want to deal with them either. I have spent a lot of money on having a warranty on two homes and will NEVER do this again. When my contract expires I will be DONE with this useless company. Save your money and pay for your own repairs. Do NOT buy a warranty through this company.

We had a minor electrical problem (three way switch was not working) so the kitchen overhead light did not turn on. Choice was contacted and engaged an electrician, who we later learned was a handyman. He missed his first appointment. We rescheduled and he missed that one as well (car problems). I tried to cancel the policy with Choice but was talked into giving them a second/third chance. Choice hired another firm at no cost to us. The next firm showed up with no replacement parts. Had the evaluated the problem and get approval from Choice to effect the repair. Got approval and came back with a standard 3way light switch. They knew that our home had zwave switches but where not authorized to replace them with anything other than the standard switch. Three people worked on it for hours and could not figure out how to make it work. They said they would come back with different parts and try to make it work. Weeks went by no word. Frankly we were too busy with other projects and didn’t follow up. Finally contacted Choice and got the same response as before. They wanted to “make it right” and please let us try again. Like before I was told how difficult it is to find contracts because “they are so busy they don’t want to work for home warranty companies that don’t pay as well and make them make extra trips to the home to get the job approved”. Wow my point was made for my and again I insisted on canceling my 3 yr policy. They had the audacity to charge a fee of $150 for breaking the contract as well as a proration for the time we had coverage. The proration was acceptable but as I explained to them they were in breach and did not fulfill their commitment to made the repairs as promised. Well needless to say when it comes to home warranty companies they are NOT my Choice.

This is the worst home warranty I have ever had. My recent claim has been denied because of rust in a coil but the technician never said there was rust in the coil-because their isn’t. What he said was: ‘All The outdoor unit The unit has a major leak it could be an evaporator coil and condensing coil the compressor it could be anywhere without doing a leak Test there’s no way to determine what the end result is any major leak with required the system to be replaced and it’s not worth wasting the money to do a leak test on a unit that old’. This was taken right from his report. Choice denied the claim siting rust and there isn’t any...it was just a way to get out of honoring the terms of their own contract. I’m questioning the claim denial, got a second contractor opinion and had an attorney look at the contract. This is just not a solid business practice.

I had an emergency but nobody could help put a rush on it, AND THEN THE NEXT DAY, after sewage flooded my house, then I was told I could get my own plumber with a reimbursement options. WHY was I not given that option at hour one? Why did I have to wait over 12 hours for you to tell me that you could not find me a plumber? AND then you declined coverage. I have two clean-outs but the plumber chose to go down though the toilet. You gave authorization for him to do the work. You gave him a code when he submitted the diagnosis, and then you declined it. I'll be going back to American Home Sheild when this expires. Worst service ever.

CHW responses to claims quickly. But sometimes have problem with getting local service company scheduled quickly. Settling claims are not always fair or reasonable. Their settlement is usually take it as is no explanation or room for negotiation for a fair an equitable setllement.

The brutal truth is; home warranties are too good to be true! Don't waste your money. I bought the home warranty as it sounded like a good idea and even helpful. My washing machine broke 5/15/21, Choice Warranty sent technician to home to fix it 5/19/21. He was a very nice man and was very informative. Unfortunately my washer was beyond repair. I thought Choice Warranty would be replacing my washer, but rather they are providing me with a cash "Payout" for the wholesale price of a replacement washing machine. It is in my contract that Choice Warranty will repair or replace or provide cash payout and I can purchase my own machine. The pay out options sounds wonderful, however it is based on wholesale prices not on the cost to replace my current machine. So to put this in simple terms; I have a Kenmore super larger capacity plus top load washer, choice warranty is "Paying me out" $343 for a replacement washing machine, which is their wholesale price. And the kicker, they are going to put it on a lowes gift card??? A replacement washing machine from lowes is about $700-&1000. Lydia from Choice Warranty has been assigned to my case and she has not been the most helpful. I don't feel like a customer you really care about.

I had a slight snag. The initial call went well. I was given an appointment time and date. The day I was scheduled no one showed up and I wasn't notified. When I called back your representative they couldn't help because they only do no new claims. I was rather disappointed. That was an extra day without air conditioning.

My $5k double wall oven burned out...they proposed a $700 compensation, as per their rules, they decide the price they deem fit. I requested, if you can get it for that price from somewhere, please replace the product. FInally I cancelled. They called me back every single day, they said you can take a rider on the contract since you have high end appliances and this will replace it with equivalent value products. Noe this time I paid their premium $3475...my cheap Samsung fridge $2300 burnt out, I have a SubZero too...they paid $726 as comp. Same explanation as 3 years ago. Everything they promised was a lie...I'm waiting for my check, and then I'll cancel their plan based on the email exchange we had where they promised premium appliance support. Overall a scam. Beware of it. Keep everything in writing. Make sure you pay by Credit card, so your money is protected.

This company could care less about the customer. They sell you by promoting the lie you will never have to pay for costly repairs or replacements of your appliances and AC and heating. I have summited 3 claims so far ( I got suckered into 5 years) first my wall oven went out right after the holidays. It took them over two weeks to get a technician to come out. The guy they sent for my In the meantime, my dryer goes out. So I claim on it. was a joke! He tore apart my oven and said he was waiting on the part. Three weeks later we’re still waiting. In the meantime, my dryer goes out. So I claim on it. I let them know I haven’t heard back from the guy about the oven. Please don’t send the same guy. THEY SEND THE SAME GUY! I refused to have him come. They finally sent another guy out. Come to find out the oven was unfix able, they did pay out but it was not near enough to replace. Then a couple a weeks ago my water heater was leaking, they denied the claim, the tank is not covered. It’s like a main part of the water heater! Save yourself the frustration and pass these guys by!

Terrible is an under statement of the customer service that I have received. Not only is their a lack of empathy, but incompetence as well, where reps hang up on you, appliances are not fixed in a timely period, reps does not seem knowledgeable of what they are doing, to include supervisors, and they really aren't concerned because it's not affecting them, esp locations that are not in the US. BBB will definitely be my next point of contact due to contacting them over 3 times today just to be more frustrated and hung up on because they don't want to solve issues, and still no resolution. VERY UNSATISFACTORY!!!

Our thermostat controller went off, so we submitted a claim. Technicians came and could not get it to work. They suggested replacement. Few minutes after they left, we received an email from Choice warranty with this section "Please refer to your terms and conditions section F number 3; we are not responsible for electronic or computerized energy management or lighting and appliance management systems, solar systems and equipment." This definition seems unspecific and can be interpreted in many ways. The controller, for us, did not seem to fall within this definition. Therefore, we submitted a request for a claim review. We get a schedule for Friday at 10:00am Central time. The reviewer "not sure about her name" called at 10:15am. She was aggressive and disrespectful. She shut me up many times and did not allow me to get the information and answers that I need. She put me on extended hold two times. After each time, she returned with escalated aggressive attitude. I asked her to give me her supervisor contact info. She claimed no one is higher than her, she is the supervisor. I asked for a different case reviewer, she claimed she is the only one. While I was still trying to get answers, she claimed that my 15 minutes are over and that she needs to end the call. I was not allowed to talk, she decided that the call needs to be ended because she has an appointment with another customer. I said, you called 15 minutes later, the other customer can also wait. She started yelling at me and insisted on ending the call. Thanks, Dr. Diana Wilkerson

My refrigerator needed repair and it took 6 days to get out here . CHW refused to repair it because it was too old. I stead they offered me a Lowes credit card for $560 to be shipped with in 30 days. A comparable refrigerator to the one I had cost about $1500. I tried talking to someone but the only openings were over a week away to even speak to anyone. All my food spoiled and I couldn’t wait to speak to someone over a week away with no refrigerator. So I agreed to the $566 and then am told they would send the money on a gift card which I would get in 30 days. I had to buy a new refrigerator because I could not wait . I bought one exactly like the one I had and it was on sale for $1439. With tax and warranty it was $1700. I will not renew with Home Warranty.

I placed the claim over the phone automated and it was seamless. They used A&E factory, which I know is a reputable company and services were preformed and fixed in a timely manner.

Their service has improved significantly over the past couple of years. They've found some service providers in my locations and usually have people assigned to my issue fairly quickly.

My washer can't be repaired, So instead of replacement as advertised, they only offered me 1/3 cash value as a gift card to Lowes Home Improvement. Very disappointing and an insult to me. I have the option to have a review by a case manager, but the waiting time for an appointment is 1 month. What kind of company has a wait time for customer service that is this long. Must have alot of customers disputing their offers. I have my policy paid up for 3 more years, but will probably ask for a refund.

I wish I could give this company zero stars. They do not uphold their contract. We had four failed repairs with them, one of which damaged our AC unit. Choice refuses to provide reimbursement for their botched job, which after 8 weeks of waiting for them to fix the issue, when it is 89 DEGREES F outside, we decided to fix ourselves. The contract, which they have not read apparently, states that if a service technician damages/fails to repair a unit properly that clients can seek remedy for this, like we did. Because we hired someone without prior approval, they say they can't reimburse us. So, their policy is for clients to wait months for a repair, wait for them to damage a appliance, wait for them to authorize to repair their own damage because if you repair/replace on your own even when it is URGENT they're not responsible anymore....how are they even legal? Sounds like fraud, smells like fraud? STAY AWAY FROM CHOICE HOME WARRANTY.

Unfortunately Choice has disappointed me. My contract includes my pool and spa. It clearly states it covers heat. Further it says it does not cover heat pumps. All electric pool heaters are heat pumps. It is a tricky way of saying “yes” we cover heat but not the heater. They declined replacing my heater and the person who handled my appeal was rude. .

Woke up with a a leaking water heater. Garage was like a small river. Filed a claim with CHW within a couple of hours I had 2 plumbers contact me. I called one number, they agreed to diagnose the water heater Sunday afternoon. The heater hose was repaired immediately. The other plumber just called and had to tell him the heater was repaired.

I've been using CHW for over 3 years at 2 different addresses. They are not who they say they are. They send technicians who do not have a clue how to fix problems. 2 years ago I had an electrical issue and they sent an unlicensed technician to my house to fix my issue. The guy even told me he was a handyman! I had an A/C issue at my other home at my rental property. The technician ended up messing up the wiring to my system and then told me I needed to buy a whole new A/C unit! I had to get a second opinion who verified what he messed up and fixed my problem for less than $700 which once again CHW refused to pay since they would 1st of all not replace my unit even though it was getting its early 2 PMs a year. They said my contract states that they didn't have to replace it! Now more recent one of my A/C units airhandler froze over due to a problem due to my zoned damper and zone controls which required replacement. They told me under the terms and condition section D #5, CHW is not responsible for issues excluded under heating!
