On a plumbing repair claim after waiting a month for a technician I opted for a reimbursement option. The repair cost was $450.00. CHW only paid me $300.00. When my electric clothes dryer could not be repaired they did not replace it as they advertise. I was given a $300.00 gift card to Lowe’s. The new dryer cost me an additional $200 plus. Only the last 2 claims have been paid according to the policy .provision.

After paying my $85 to a service repair man that noted my microwave need to be fixed, CHW said they would replace it. They offered me $191 initially in the form of an e-card from Lowes. My microwave on lowes website, the exact microwave is $659. I declined their initial offer and was set a case manager to discuss, which I had to schedule but scheduling was 2 weeks out to speak to a case manager! I called immediately instead and spoke to another case manager. Reading thru the contract together I discussed how it states that no item will exceed more than $3000 per contract item, then why were they offering me $191?! The case manager then said to hold while he check some things and came back with a $259 offer, which I declined again. Reading more into the contract with the case manager it’s state that they will bear the cost of installation, the case manager argued that they could offer more money in lieu of installation, so he came back with another offer at $403! It’s amazing how they don’t want to replace the exact microwave and want to initially low ball you and expect you to take the first offer. The real salt in the wound is that the form of payment is an e-gift card to Lowe’s so you can only use it at Lowe’s and it can take up to 30 days to get the card!! All their emails of crocodile tears about how sorry they are for any inconvenience and they will work so fast to resolve my issue and I’m left without a microwave for nearly 2 months! I pay a premium every month on time but can’t have anything I pay for to me on time. In reality the $403 is less the $85 deductible I paid. What if this was a fridge or oven that is more readily used than a microwave? I’d be out and inconvenienced by simply waiting on CHW! My fridge is almost $2000, what would they offer me should it need replacement?? No where near the value for comparable replacement. Cheap and shady business dealings

The first customer service representative was beyond rude I believe his name was Jan he kept just reading the section of the contract to m and over talking me even when I asked to speak to a supervisor told me I couldn’t. He was in fact not correct concerning the terms of the warranty and I finally waited a while and called back after pulling my contract and reading it. This man is not a good representative for your company.

I liked CHW no complaints until now 9/3/23 I put in a claim for a leaking ceiling Saturday night 9/2/23 can’t get any one to come out until Tuesday 9/5. I had to get & pay somebody to fixed the leak bc ceiling started to buckle. I felt like this was an emergency that couldn’t wait 3 days causing more damage/problems. I really hope that you all have something in place when there is an emergency. They have 24 hr plumbing service that you could have gotten in touch with. I need to be reimbursed. Thank you

- Online responses to questions are canned and do not answer the questions. I had to call and ask. There were no responses on the weekend. - Technician said water heater needed to be replaced. Choice only paid for water heater and labor. I had to pay $605 additional costs for parts needed to replace water heater. I had no choice to go to a more reasonable company. Recommend Choice allow the customer to have a choice to select the company if they had used them before. 3 years ago the water heater was replaced and I paid $150 out of pocket. I don't know if the $605 was necessary charges or not.

I don't like dealing with a machine, it would not let me talk to a real person, that being said, I was able to find out who was assigned to help me, and I chatted with them, adjusting the repair date, as we really needed the sink back. I thought I would have piece of mind however there ALWAYS seems to be a reason to my pay the claim. Last one was the blower fan on the inside of my AC unit not be totally level. HOW WOULD ONE KNOW THAT. the company you sent wanted over 900 to replace it on the side and i had it done for 285 - something is WRONG with your vendors. There seems to be no oversight. Just rejection then move on. i will not be renewing with choice.

The contractor did not get notified we were to get service on Monday. I finally reached him 2 days later & surprised why not scheduled. He came on his own next day to repair garage door opener. We were notified date & name of contractor weeks in advance. Waited home all day for contractor to arrive. Very disappointed for lack of communication on part of Choice Warranty.

I like the customer service but the waiting time it takes for the technician to come and fix the problem is too long specially when it comes to critical appliances like water heater, heater, garage door that won’t open or close etc., Technician also comes without the most common parts that very often needs replacement and needs to come back after another few days with the parts needed.

I like that job was finally done. It took way too long to find an air conditioner repair company. I suffered in 100° heat for 6 days. I had asthma attacks and literally felt sick the entire time. The company sent (finally) took care of the job literally in minutes!! Arctic Air which is owned by a woman, is a fantastic air conditioning repair company!!

I like the professional level. The technical aspect . I dislike how they didn’t want to cover my washer , because they said it was something we cause . This was an inside rubber around the tub was leaking. We research this, this is a common thing with front load washers.clothes with buttons zippers etc can cause this. We are two elderly people who take care of our things we don’t have the money to be replacing all the time.

Apparently CHW has to search for companies that will provide service according to CHW terms. Much two long to wait for a service person to show up. The actual work done was excellent.

In theses Bidenomic times CHW has had a hard time finding contractors in my area who will accept their terms. CHW told me to find my own and would reimburse me less my deductible. That's not what I'm paying for, I ended up repairing it myself.

We have liked almost everything so far, companies have come out in a timely manner and fixed the issues. The only thing we have an issue with is choice making the appointment for you and having an issue trying to reach the repair companies to reschedule. Also, we don't get receipts from the repair companies.

The repairman are professional and great that are sent. I am not real impressed with the customer service from choice. They do not seem to listen and tell me things that are not accurate. I have also been told by them that they do not replace anything, they will just keep sending a repairman.

The on line trouble ticket was easy to fill out. The service provider was not easy to work with. They (Sears Home Services) cancelled the service call twice at the last minute. This required me to waste ANOTHER day of work as I had to be home from 8:00am to 5:00pm. Sears Home Services did not value my time. Also, impossible to talk with a service manager. When the service tech called to cancel the second time I asked to talk with a manager. He stated “managers don’t talk with people”.

Our only dislike is the time zone difference limiting when we can actually speak to someone or when our service providers can get approval for work. The reporting feature is very limited in online reporting options without speaking to a live person. Overall very satisfied!

August 18, 2023 Re: Account 524143872 Claim 209762308 On August 9th, 2023, I submitted a claim for the air conditioner in my home that was blowing hot air. The next day, August 10, I received an email stating that Bennett & Sons was assigned to my claim and set an appointment for a technician on August 14, 5 days later. I immediately called Bennitt & Sons using the number in the email in order to have someone come out earlier since I had an elderly person with asthma living with me and the outside temperatures were in the mid 90’s. The call would drop and did not allow to leave a message. After multiple tries, I contacted Choice Home Warranty and explained my situation and requested another company since I could not communicate with Bennett & Sons. The Choice agent tried to call Bennett & Sons without success and said we could not assign another company and they would send a message to Bennett & Sons using the portal. I again reiterated my concern of having to be without AC in this miserable heat for my wife and her health issues. Again, the Choice agent said there was nothing she could do and would send the message to the AC company. That afternoon of August 10 I was successful in reaching Bennett & Sons and explained my predicament. They said they could send a technician out on Friday August 11. The technician checked the system and said the compressors were damaged and needed replacement. The technician said he would submit the paperwork to his office. I did not hear back so Monday morning I called the technician to check on status and he said he is waiting on his office. Since I did not have assurances from Bennett & Sons of returning soon, I contacted another AC company to help me with the AC. They determined the compressors needed replacement and that it would probably cost around $5000. The system is 19 plus years old and it did not seem feasible to me to pay that much for a repair on a system that was close to its longevity. At this point I was desperate to find a solution to this AC problem so I ordered a new system. I contacted Choice to find out the status of my claim and the agent said that a diagnosis was not submitted. I could not believe it since the technician said they would be submitting the paperwork. I explained to the agent what had transpired and what I had to do in order to help my family mitigate this heat. She said there was nothing she could do so I requested to speak with a manager. I explained to the manger the whole story and explained that I was only requesting a reimbursement for what Choice would have paid for a repair of the unit, approximately $5000. Please consider this request. I should not be liable for the incompetence of the contractor you hired. Hector Matos

About three years ago I decided to research home warranty companies and buy a policy to cover repairs to my townhome because my disability worsened and I could no longer physically do many home projects I was previously able to do by myself. At that time I saw many good reviews about Choice Home so I called the company for a quote. The company representative sold me on what he said was their most comprehensive policy that covers all the home systems and appliances that I want covered and offered me an incredle price and per service deductible for three years so I bought the three year policy. Well, the first time I had to use the policy was when my installed combination microwave/vent hood in my kitchen shorted out. I went online to file a claim and a contracted service technician soon after scheduled an appointment with me to come out to diagnose the problem and fix it. The guy was very professional, courteous, and respectful of me and my home. He quickly diagnosed that the control panel shorted out and needed to be replaced. So, he checks and finds out unfortunately that the manufacturer no longer makes the part so he can't repair the problem. He calls Choice and tells them that, and he tells me that Choice will contact me soon to discuss replacement options. So, I pay the technician my policy service call fee thinking that he will be back to install the new microwave/vent hood after Choice calls me to discuss a replacement. Well, a representative from Choice calls in a couple days and tells me that they will only give me a $150.00 credit to use at Lowe's to pick out a new combination microwave/vent hood for my kitchen and I have to find and pay for someone to remove the old one and install the new one. I was totally shocked because a new comparable replacement would be $500.00 or more plus the cost of installation. I thought my policy would cover replacing and installing a new system; however, the adjusters informs me of something in the policy fine print that is what it is in the policy. Sure enough, I pulled out and thoroughly read line by line the entire policy and realized I was duped by the representative who sold me the policy because he led me to believe that, if something can't be repaired, it would be replaced with a new item similar to what I have. I have also submitted a few other minor claims and ran into similar problems with Choice. I also experienced long delays in service technicians responding to come out to diagnose and fix the problem because it seems local service contractors find working with Choice hard to work with and not wanting to pay them a reasonable price to do the job. For one small claim that I submitted, I had to wait almost two weeks for a contracted service electrician to contact me to schedule an appointment. I found out that the electrician who responded to Choice was located 3.5 hours away from me in another city. I thought that was incredible because I know several licensed electricians less than 15 minutes from my home. The electrician who came out was very professional and did an excellent job. However, I suspect Choice might have stiffed him on paying him and he found working with and being able to contact them too difficult and probably is not responding to any more requests from Choice for jobs. In conclusion, I can say to anyone considering Choice or any other home warranty company: "Caveat Emptor." I also highly recommend thoroughly reading in detail going line by line the entire policy to understand what you want to buy and ask the company for the names and numbers of their current customers you can call for references, and also ask your relatives, neighbors, friends, business colleagues et al who have a current home warranty policy to recommend a home warranty policy.

I had my AC to break down and ChoiceHome w,didn't have anyone available to send out and they told me I could opt to call someone on my on and they would reimburse me so they came out and fixed my problem and I paid them for it and when I tried to get reimbursed I was told that the people who fixed it should have have called them to get permission to replace or repair any parts so they ðidnt call for pre-approval, and I just told them to fix my AC and they did I paid them for the repairs now I'm told I an not get reimbursed for me 274.00 to get me air fixed .I tried several times to speak with a serperviser but I was told that's protocol and they would tell me the same thing but I kept insisting to speak to a supervisor and finally they put me on hold for one but I never got to speak to one so I'm out 274.? Plus paying 61.per month my warranty I've been with CHW for5 years now so I guess I'm not a good candidate now to have.So I'm on the fence about canceling my contract with them I've never had any problem before but when I was given the opertunity to call someone and pay my self to keep from having no air in this heat I chose that route so for sure I'd never fo that again.i could understand if they thought something was wrong with they're statement or charge it never made it that far,I was told that I payed without approval and I would not get reimbursed, but I needed my account running and I was willing to pay the company I had called to do the work said that they would try and send in my invoice but when they tried to they wanted them to join there team and they were not interested in that and they wanted all kinds of information about they're business and she told me I'll have to handle Choice warinty as far as my getting reimbursed that they don't do that so I got stuck in the middle with no helpfrom chw they never told me to ask if they put in claim with chw which they don't evidently, my lose,so like I said I'm on the fence about canceling with them,I'll make up my mind before my next bill. I just recently joined Choice because we were so disappointed with our last one because they took days to call back and took a week or more to get a Co. out to our home, we rent our home out, and when something happens I was promised by the girl I talked to we are very fast at responding. (NOT) we had a plumbing problem at our house and it took 7 days to get someone out and then they sent a young boy who had no idea what he was doing and did not fix the problem, so needless to say your company talks up Choice but you definitely are not what was told to me, very disappointing. I will give you one more chance and most likely switch companies again if I don't respond faster!! We live in Mexico and we need to be able to rely on a company that means what they say!!
