I was really happy with American Home shield until recently. For the 8 yrs I’ve been in my home I’ve had the same contractors come to my home for my ancient HVAC system. It did break down & the repair was quickly approved. However, the contractor they sent out was BEYOND rude. If it wasn’t so hot, I would have thrown him out of my house. He overcharged me for an item they didn’t use. American home shield is investigating that & hopefully I will see some of that money back. That same contractor also said I had problems with my electrical panel, so I booked another service call with an electrician. Come to find out nothing was wrong with electrical whatsoever. At the same time all of this was happening, my washer broke down. That contractor came out, also not a great experience. Because of this contractor American home Shield denied fixing or repairing my washer because they said it was our fault. My washer was bought a year & a half ago. It’s a Samsung. I went onto the Samsung page only to find out many people are having the same issues with their washers as I am. The fact that AHS denied this & have had several bad experiences back to back with their contractors I’m considering not continuing my home coverage with them.

I like the ability to put in a call anytime day or night. I get an immediate response that it has been dispatched to the company and know that I will get a phone call immediately within 24 hours. Normally the response from the companies is immediate. I like the follow up from AHS making sure that everything was taken care of.

I have a lot of frustration with the call line. You can very rarely understand them or they understand you. Being able to sign up on line is great, but they need an area where you can put in a specific comment. There are times that something specific would be helpful to the repair company that they send and possibly in their choosing the correct company. Recently I had my ac freezing up. It was actually causing frost on the outside of the unit inside the house and causing a large pool of water on the floor. AHS sent out a company who did not address the problem. They were delightful and prompt, but I am unsure they knew what to do. They did however fix a damper problem. When my service company did come out to service it for the summer they ended up doing a diagnostic charge and servicing the problem. The coils had been freezing up due to a blocked drain pipe. Having him do this and the diagnostic service cost me exactly the same amount as the fee would have for AHS. However, other time their repair person has been spot on.

Typically dealing with AHS has been an easy process. However my latest experience has been problematic. I need HVAC work, and my contract covers ducts, tubing, and insulation plus the main system. However, my claim was denied due to the duct boots. My tubing insulation is falling apart and I have water intrusion around the boots leaking through my ceiling. The boot insulation also need replacement. AHS denied the entire claim siting the boots and did not consider the other damage/repairs as separate. Customer service is basically automated and I cannot get clear answers when I try to understand why the two areas were not considered separately. I have been forced to work with the HVAC specialist AND AHS. AHS will not engage the HVAC specialist directly but only through automated systems. It has been over a month now and my ceiling is starting to collapse in places. This is only creating more cost for me. The HVAC specialist are wonderful but also very busy so communication is sporadic. The are the only ones in the area who work with AHS. I was told from the beginning and often throughout the process by them that “as long as they have worked with AHS, they have never seen them cover any duct work even if it’s in the contract”. I’m not feeling very positive about the outcome. I’ve carried AHS coverage for almost 8 yrs and until now had no issues. Close to 10k in premiums but we are fighting over a $900 claim. I’m seriously considering arbitration if further attempts to rebuff this denial falls short. All I want them to do is cover the insulation repair to my duct tubing. I’m willing to pay for the boot and ceiling repair. 3 stars for all of the other no hassle work they have covered but this is costing them 2 stars I would have otherwise given.

Good telephone response by agents. Always treat customers with respect and are helpful. However, the service companies they contract with in my area are not necessarily the best. The small plumber they used in Santa Rosa, CA was terrible. On my over-range pot-filler he fixed a leak but tightened one joint so that the potfiller would no longer fold back against the wall, but sticks out over range. He was personally aggressive with me when questioned about it, and I actually was afraid of a reprisal if I criticized his repair. My dishwasher repair was basically not done. Regular wash was taking three hours, and the repairman blamed it on my hot water not reaching the appliance quickly enough. I spent over $1200.00 for a pump that moved hot water to all faucets quickly, and the dishwasher now takes four hours in regular mode. My garage door opener repair took three return visits over more than three weeks for the repairman to decide it was time to order an electronic component (a board), though he mentioned this on the first visit as a possible reason for the garage door opening on its own.

We have overall been very pleased with AHS and wouldn’t want to be without this coverage. I’ve noticed over the years that their processes have improved and customer service has been extremely helpful. Our experiences with their contractors has been very positive with very few exceptions and when we did have issues AHS rectified the issues and concerns. We have no doubt that the cost of coverage has paid for itself and highly recommend.

Really like being able to get multiple services using the same professional under one service request. The professional works until the issue is resolved even if they need to come back out without an additional service fee charge. Would give 5 stars but have experienced some limitations on what they will do to resolve an issue.

The service on a plumbing call was great and the plumber fixed the toilet issue, but not the valve issues. I was told on a telephone call with AHS that the issue was covered, but then when plumber came back, was told the issue was not covered. Very confusing and frustrating. So... I cannot knock the services, but the communication was poor. I should have not had to call AHS to follow up on the submitted quote for outstanding issue, and should have received correct information when I contacted them.

The automated “hearing” needs some work; I had a little trouble communicating what I was calling for. Other than that, once I got through that part it was all smooth sailing! The appointment to repair my dryer was made in a timely manner, the technician was on time, and I (well, my wife) was back to drying laundry quickly, quietly and efficiently! I've been a customer since 2019 and have had nothing but great things to say about them. Friendly and efficient staff, generally quick service. I recently had my dishwasher break and American Home Shield made several attempts to remedy the issue (which was great), unfortunately, it had to be replaced. The company they connected me with for the replacement was beyond horrible; they have 1.4 stars on Google and the reviews are some of the worst I've read. When I called AHS to voice that, I was told that they don't select their collaborating companies by customer opinions. I believe a company you use to assist your members reflects your business and values. I was very disappointed with this last issue and the response they gave. I'm now contemplating using a different insurance company.

We have had several appointments set up with various companies for different issues. To date we have had a horrible experience with Home Choice Services out of Daytona Beach, Fl. They have missed appointments and when the tech finally showed up he did not have any parts to fix the garbage disposal. The young man was not a very happy person. When my wife called to complain she was told that the people at Home Choice advised that the problem was fixed. We paid the $100 and still have not received any help from the company. We’ve had this plan for several years, and many of those years we didn’t have to use the benefits at all, but these last two our appliances and HVAC have needed serious repairs or replacement and AHS has never balked at their portion of the contract and paid out promptly and with no haggling. I do like that an item has to be irreparable before it is approved to be replaced. Items should be evaluated and replaced based upon age not just because it can or cannot be fixed. My recent service to my garage door opener fixed the problem but because the opener is so old it will not link to my newer car which is an inconvenience. I can not even buy a remote to use because the available remotes are newer and do not link to my very old opener. In 2020 my furnace was replaced but only after the gas company red tagged it - that was a dangerous situation and I was without heat in the winter with no where to go. I had my furnace serviced several times prior to that and it should have been approved to be replaced just based upon its age. AHS really needs to revaluate this policy.

American Home Shield is great, knowing I just have to log an issue and they'll send someone out to look at it is such a relief when there's a million other things to juggle in life. My most recent experience has not been that great. Our oven has been giving us issues preheating so we requested service in February. The first guy to come out did the best he could by himself and said he'd have to come back with someone else to help him so we rescheduled. The day he was supposed to come back a different man showed up and he was all alone, so either the first guy didn't notate the account to say 2 guys were needed or someone didn't schedule the second guy appropriately. So he didn't do anything, just rescheduled. The next time 2 guys showed up and they were able to move the oven and look over everything. They're not sure if it's the wiring or the control panel so they had to order parts and come back. Parts were delivered to my house so now here comes the 4th visit and one guy (totally new) shows up BY HIMSELF again. He looks at the parts that came in and one is wrong, so he has to order another part AND reschedule me AGAIN because one part is missing and he needs a helper. They're scheduled to come out again on Monday. Let's see if the 5th time is the charm.

We had an issue with our refrigerator and it couldn't be repaired because the serial number had been wiped off. They jump right into action and within a week we had a brand new refrigerator in out kitchen, The process was so fast and they pretty much did everything for us. We received an email with another refrigerator that was comparable to the one we had, actually it was bigger and is an excellent addition to our kitchen. THANK YOU AMERICAN HOME SHIELD YOU DO WHAT YOU SAY! I will recommend you to anyone that will listen, no one is out of reach of my recommendation.

Prompt service, and techs were adept in capacity and did really good job!! 2 thumbs up! AHS has made significant improvements since my initial membership as customer service was lackluster and Reps couldn’t speak English, additionally wait times were upward of 50 minutes. Now those issues are solved and we are very happy with service . 2 Thumbs up!

They have provided the exact coverage in the exact way that they said they would. I had the same problem a couple of times, the service was quick and effective each time but ultimately due to a manufacturer defect they replaced the appliance. The amount they provided was very fair towards a replacement. I’ll stick with them for a long time based off the service so far.

I have to admit I was a little skeptical about the Home Warranty deal (paid for by the seller of the property I purchased), when I ended up experiencing a problem with an electrical switch, I called American Home Shield. To my surprise, the rep was courteous, and understanding. A work order was submitted and my problem was resolved and repaired in an expeditious manner. I was very pleased with the contractor used and how responsive everyone was.

The service personnel were polite and understood exactly what my issue was. The service gentleman was prompt and knowledgeable. He proceeded to complete the task promptly and efficiently. An added benefit is that he was neat and professional as well as cleaning up the area when the problems solution was finalized. Jason, the technician should be complemented.

Filed a claim online. Received a speedy response from the assigned company. The company scheduled me in right away and resolved the problem that same day. I think it made a big difference that the company was highly rated on yeelp. It was Smartchoice appliance. When they have good companies they work with, it makes it a much more satisfying process.

I liked the service, but the provider did take a long time to get back to me with service. We had to wait many days for someone to come to our home, as we live in a rural area. Once they did come, the service was excellent. When replacing the water heater, the provider did reach out and I was not able to return their call promptly and my water heater was cancelled. They did reorder and now I have a new one.

We bought a home in May and my sister suggested getting American Home Shield for our home warranty provider. I was told some really bad things about another company who didn’t cover my daughter in law’s family a/c or dishwasher, so I was a little weary. We started having having trouble with our A/C in August, but American Home Shield covered it! Just recently, our refrigerator went out, not only did we have a tech out within a few days, but also got a replacement for our refrigerator within 2 weeks! I am so glad we decided to go with American Home Shield!

Was have a hard time financially called to cancel The lady I talked to told me because I haven't had a claim they would not charge me until April and if I did I would not have to pay the service call. I had a water leak and called told them where it was leaking not in foundation. I was charged the $100.00 service fee. The plumber came said it wasn't covered because it wasn't in foundation gave me a $975. Estimate he couldn't fix call someone from his company turned into a $4,975.00 charge. My neighbor fixed it for $300. I was called by someone from AMS and ask about being told I would have no service charge was given $50.00 back and told the service guy had to be paid not sure about this company now. Your word is your word.

The request for service is quick and easy. The reponse time was basically immediate, with the contracted service provider’s information. This incident happened to be a follow up from a recent request for service. I had the peace of mind that and had a stress free experience since the service provider responded immediately and was able to resolve the problem.

LIKES there pretty quick to respond to your service ,DISLIKES my garage door opener went out I personally installed it over 10 years ago , the contractor came out quick he told me he could put in another garage door opener $198.00 but it was under power I told him I wanted to get a more better one about $500.00 side mounted opener and I could install it and Home Shield would give me a voucher for about $200.00 I said great ,Now Home shield did say they would give me the voucher but it had to be installed by a contractor,Im upset cause I can do it my self but they want me to spend more money on someone else and everyone want $500.00 to do 1 hour of work total Bull Crap I already paid Home shield $100.00 to to come tell me what I already knew plus monthly , they should give me the voucher and not warranty the garage door opener If I install it that simple , so if they don't fix this I will have them replace it with another Craftsman , Robert

For my home, this has been a great service. at 14 years, now is the time where the home amenities start to show some age and act up. We have had tremendous service and response for every occasion we've needed AHS. Just 3-4 service calls a year pay for the premiums, and the piece of mind in having same or next day service on any needed repair... worth it and more!

My husband and I have been with AHS for the past 16 years. The vendor they hire are good quality service providers who are polite and do a great job. The few non perfect ratings has to do with the annual price increases. For the most part the increases were low and below CPI. However this year was a 18% increase. I realize the inflation issue is high. But an 18% annual / monthly increase feels like gauging. Especially with a customer that maybe submits a claim a year and the claim is a low cost claim. The increase doens't look good and my husband and I are for the first time are looking to move. It makes me sad that this is the first negative review I have given.

The claims process is easy to follow, and AHS is available to speak with by phone if we have any questions. We are patting ourselves on the back for thinking ahead and getting our policy a year ago. We highly recommend this investment in your home.
