So I recently found out that HSA and AHS Are the same company. Those nice colorful brochures you get when you are looking at a new home and are uncertain of the unforseen mechanical and other issues that may arise. Home warranty! Simple solution! Your covered right?! Not so fast.....and those colorful brochures with the lists of covered appliances: A/C, Furnace, Refrigerator, plumbing.....you feel well taken care of. If it's small things, like the water pump on your washer, they have ya covered. A CFCI tripping in an outlet, no problem. But God help you if you need work on a Refrigerator, worse yet a water heater or A/C unit. Once you buy the policy they send you a booklet that you tuck away. They count on you tucking it away and not reading it. For those who do and request a refund of police, no can do, even if you haven't used the services. For those who don't read the coverage, there are limits to coverage. Meaning that 6000.00 A/C unit has enough coverage to charge it and repair a part. But not enough to replace it. We had a dripping wash machine supply box in our laundry room. We made an appointment. The plumber contacted me and asked for pictures. I sent pictures, description and measurements so he could come prepared to do the replacement. I'm not sure why he came. ***EVEN though this 40.00 part is available at my local small town true value hardware store. He had to order it thru the HOME warranty company. He laughed and said be lucky it's not your water heater! I'd have to cut and cap the lines, remove it and wait a week for them.to send me one. I thought oh my God what have we gotten Into? I got a text from the plumber telling me the part was in and it would cost an additional 200 from me for the repair to'modify the water line and the drain pipe', 200 over and above the 100 I paid when booking the appointment. And they were going to tear my wall apart and it was not covered for repair. What was the AHS paying for? The plumber padded the bill to make it worth his time to come back. It is all very inefficient. We waited almost a month to finally get the repair done by a local plumber for a fraction of the cost. I ended up calling g our realtor and she got me in touch with the purchasing agent for the home warranty company. She gave me the name of the area sales rep for AHS who was here in the USA and she walked me thru reimbursement. Needless to say the realtor is not renewing their contract. These almost seem.like predatory. I called the BBB to file a complaint and AHS and HSA are so well versed with the over 23,000 complaints, that they have a form letter all ready to go. They just fill in the blanks. It's all lip service. No customer service. No real coverage. You are better off to just front the bill.and know ahead of time to save for that big expense than give your $ to a company like this.

I just terminated my relationship with this company, being a customer for many years. I found appliance issues were usually handled adequately, except for the latest where I have been waiting almost 2 years to get repairs done on my built-in oven. I purchased coverage for my hot tub, only to find out I was paying the monthly fee for about 2 years for a service no longer provided. Constant increase in price without notice. I have had my kitchen drain worked on at least 6 times in 4 years. Same problem. Couldn’t get it right, but I had to pay a service fee each time. Trying to communicate with customer “service “ was a nightmare, getting 4 different answers from 4 different representatives, being disconnected frequently and having to start the whole process over, frequently spending more than an hour to become more frustrated.

I’ve used AHS for several years and I have mixed feelings about their service. If you have a service need during the week it’s not bad(4.5/5) but if you need time sensitive services e.g. A/C not working on the weekend, then it’s definitely poor. Seems they do not have a lot of providers to chose from and things don’t just break mon-fri. Even when they give you authorization to find your own provider, there’s no one on the weekend to authorize said provider, so offering that option is pointless. Also, different customer service staff tell you different things; so I’m not sure how knowledgeable they really are. Almost seems like they’re reading from a trouble shooting script. All in all, I’ve never really been denied service hence the 3/5 stars.

It showed me who the company would be and an estimated time as to when they should be reaching out to confirm a time. The portal was easy to use and the company that did the work was great.

The people that answer the phones are very nice however they really don't ever know what's going on, noone follows up and they all say they will. Nothing gets documented and it's like going in circles every phone call. Nestor from Pro Price is fraudulent and will do whatever he can to get you denied. The 1st time he was at my home He stated I was missing caps when I was not. He did nothing and left. 2nd visit again no tools no diagnosis and left. 3rd visit i actually caught him taking the caps off and taking a picture with them off then putting them back on. Then leaving again doing nothing to diagnosis my unit. He then came up with an estimate and diagnosis of whats wrong with my unit without ever looking at my unit. With outrageous out if pocket uncovered fees. He never opened my unit, never had a tool in his hand!! How does he know whats wrong with it?? Why would I pay over $1000 to this company??! He is fraudulent and this company did not care. Please get rid of Pro Price Heating and cooling! How can I trust someone like that to fix my unit? This whole ordain took 2 months and still my unit is not fixed.

American Homeshield is great if all you need is to have something simple repaired. However, if you have something difficult or you require a replacement, you will have to wait at least 30 days for any resolution of a broken appliance issue. In addition, no one will automatically contact you to schedule replacement or to discuss the options for resolution... you have to repeated contact them for status updates and to obtain a replacement. This is very frustrating to do especially when you have to go without a major appliance for over a month! This happened with me and my washing machine. In the end, about 6 weeks after I initially reported the broken washer, I finally was given a certificate at Lowes to apply towards purchasing a new washer. So, in the end, the matter was resolved to my satisfaction but it took way too long and with no follow-up or status dates from customer service whatsoever. This process definitely needs to be improved.

I really liked My Georgia Plumber (MGP). They were prompt and very interested in helping me resolve my problem. AHS, however, denied me the service that MGP recommended so I had to pay out of my pocket. I doubt that I renew my AHS membership.

I thought I was getting peace of mind by getting American home shield, like it says in their commercials, however the service has been hit and miss. Sometimes wonderful and other times not so much. During a recent service call for my A/C unit, which was leaking and not cooling, the technician blew out a clog in the drain, which resolved the leak. He then went to the roof to check the coolant at the compressor. When he came down he informed me that he had found and fixed a leak where coolant had escaped. I pay a hefty monthly fee for the insurance, then $100 for each service call and if not wasn't enough, I was charged another $195 for the coolant. Seems like I would have been better off just calling an A/C company when I have an issue. I called to inquire about the additional charge and was told the policy only covers the first 10lbs of coolant. The unit was installed by American Home Shield and is a small 1000btu unit, can't believe it takes $200 worth of coolant to fill it.

Very good company. They offer a great service and it can be very helpful. They have gotten expensive in the past year or so and are working on pricing themselves out of business. It does take a long time to get a contractor to service the items too. Especially when the things that break are things that are needed. I guess you have to weigh the options...ie pay 1000 dollars for a washer or wait a week or two to get it fixed and use the laundry mat.

I had a contract with AHS for just under 6 months before cancelling. I set up 1 claim for clogged drain. I had to call AHS & the representative that assisted me implied that they forgot about me and apologized a lot. I wasn’t in a rush in this case, but it set the tone for future issues in my mind. To be fair I reside in a rural area, and I understand it might be harder to locate a plumber. Anyway, the plumber was fast, and fixed me right up. This reflected on the plumbing business not AHS. Money is much tighter these days and I believe it to be cheaper to fix my own issues. I started training myself in my down time to fix emergent issues. I’m currently setting up the kits for these issues as well. With this said, AHS charged me a $99 cancellation fee, which isn’t uncommon. Not horrible, but I found their efficiency to be lacking.

I had a water heater leak and it was easy to request service and get immediate service. The contractor fixed the issue and all I had to pay was the service call fee saving me hundreds of dollars and time for similar work without protection. I'm not a handy man so this is a great service for me!

I was really happy with American Home shield until recently. For the 8 yrs I’ve been in my home I’ve had the same contractors come to my home for my ancient HVAC system. It did break down & the repair was quickly approved. However, the contractor they sent out was BEYOND rude. If it wasn’t so hot, I would have thrown him out of my house. He overcharged me for an item they didn’t use. American home shield is investigating that & hopefully I will see some of that money back. That same contractor also said I had problems with my electrical panel, so I booked another service call with an electrician. Come to find out nothing was wrong with electrical whatsoever. At the same time all of this was happening, my washer broke down. That contractor came out, also not a great experience. Because of this contractor American home Shield denied fixing or repairing my washer because they said it was our fault. My washer was bought a year & a half ago. It’s a Samsung. I went onto the Samsung page only to find out many people are having the same issues with their washers as I am. The fact that AHS denied this & have had several bad experiences back to back with their contractors I’m considering not continuing my home coverage with them.

Normally the response from the companies is immediate. I like the follow up from AHS making sure that everything was taken care of.

I have a lot of frustration with the call line. You can very rarely understand them or they understand you. Being able to sign up on line is great, but they need an area where you can put in a specific comment. There are times that something specific would be helpful to the repair company that they send and possibly in their choosing the correct company. Recently I had my ac freezing up. It was actually causing frost on the outside of the unit inside the house and causing a large pool of water on the floor. AHS sent out a company who did not address the problem. They were delightful and prompt, but I am unsure they knew what to do. They did however fix a damper problem. When my service company did come out to service it for the summer they ended up doing a diagnostic charge and servicing the problem. The coils had been freezing up due to a blocked drain pipe. Having him do this and the diagnostic service cost me exactly the same amount as the fee would have for AHS. However, other time their repair person has been spot on.

Typically dealing with AHS has been an easy process. However my latest experience has been problematic. I need HVAC work, and my contract covers ducts, tubing, and insulation plus the main system. However, my claim was denied due to the duct boots. My tubing insulation is falling apart and I have water intrusion around the boots leaking through my ceiling. The boot insulation also need replacement. AHS denied the entire claim siting the boots and did not consider the other damage/repairs as separate. Customer service is basically automated and I cannot get clear answers when I try to understand why the two areas were not considered separately. I have been forced to work with the HVAC specialist AND AHS. AHS will not engage the HVAC specialist directly but only through automated systems. It has been over a month now and my ceiling is starting to collapse in places. This is only creating more cost for me. The HVAC specialist are wonderful but also very busy so communication is sporadic. The are the only ones in the area who work with AHS. I was told from the beginning and often throughout the process by them that “as long as they have worked with AHS, they have never seen them cover any duct work even if it’s in the contract”. I’m not feeling very positive about the outcome. I’ve carried AHS coverage for almost 8 yrs and until now had no issues. Close to 10k in premiums but we are fighting over a $900 claim. I’m seriously considering arbitration if further attempts to rebuff this denial falls short. All I want them to do is cover the insulation repair to my duct tubing. I’m willing to pay for the boot and ceiling repair. 3 stars for all of the other no hassle work they have covered but this is costing them 2 stars I would have otherwise given.

Good telephone response by agents. Always treat customers with respect and are helpful. However, the service companies they contract with in my area are not necessarily the best. The small plumber they used in Santa Rosa, CA was terrible. On my over-range pot-filler he fixed a leak but tightened one joint so that the potfiller would no longer fold back against the wall, but sticks out over range. He was personally aggressive with me when questioned about it, and I actually was afraid of a reprisal if I criticized his repair. My dishwasher repair was basically not done. Regular wash was taking three hours, and the repairman blamed it on my hot water not reaching the appliance quickly enough. I spent over $1200.00 for a pump that moved hot water to all faucets quickly, and the dishwasher now takes four hours in regular mode. My garage door opener repair took three return visits over more than three weeks for the repairman to decide it was time to order an electronic component (a board), though he mentioned this on the first visit as a possible reason for the garage door opening on its own.

I’ve noticed over the years that their processes have improved and customer service has been extremely helpful. Our experiences with their contractors has been very positive with very few exceptions and when we did have issues AHS rectified the issues and concerns. Have been pleased with the professionals they have sent. Like the plan, the coverage, and the cost is not too expensive, though the charge has increased. Really like being able to get multiple services using the same professional under one service request. The professional works until the issue is resolved even if they need to come back out without an additional service fee charge. Would give 5 stars but have experienced some limitations on what they will do to resolve an issue.

Whenever we request appliance repairs, it’s always a different company. We have found that There is one company that has far surpassed all other companies we have had in the past. This company has fixed all of our kitchen appliances. If ( when) we need appliance repairs, I want to have right to choose this particular company. Understand, AHS has been wonderful and has helped me tremendously as I age and I’m a home owner… they have helped me not get overwhelmed being a home owner but there is still room for improvement thus , me writing this because of my latest situation with my built in microwave. I had to be in the phone with some wonderful people but still, fixing this microwave has been extensive and I’m having to hire a carpenter and spray paint my trim kit so it matches the other glossy black appliances in my remodeled kitchen from 2014

The service on a plumbing call was great and the plumber fixed the toilet issue, but not the valve issues. I was told on a telephone call with AHS that the issue was covered, but then when plumber came back, was told the issue was not covered. Very confusing and frustrating. So... I cannot knock the services, but the communication was poor. I should have not had to call AHS to follow up on the submitted quote for outstanding issue, and should have received correct information when I contacted them.

I like how the company got someone out to do the repairs and it was very affordable! However the technician came in March after the work order was placed in February. Then he didn’t come back until April to fix the refrigerator! That was a long wait!

I received a quick response from American Home Shield when I needed an electriction to come out because I was smelling smoke from a wall socket at 04:30, I went online and requested service, I received an immediate response for an electriction to respond, an electriction arrived at approx. 09:00 and resolved the problem.

The Rep worked out a deal were my monthly payments are less,but my up front service fee was a little higher.Also the Rep realized my financial obligations had increased.So my monthly payments were waved for a few months.That allowed me time to build up my finances.

I am a little unhappy with last service. DNG appliance replaced the broken belt on my clothes dryer. The appliance didn't squeak or squeal before the belt broke but now, with a new belt, the dryer makes quite a noise. I called DNG and was told that my insurance doesn't cover noise. You replaced other stuff in the past that was making noise as the drum turned.

Excellent local service pros and service. Schedule service and notify when they are on their way along with ETA. Courteous and professional service. However, getting them can be a challenge. Poor customer service center, difficult to understand and be understood. US based center would help with both those issues, the US economy and local economies where those workers will spend there earnings.

I am a new customer with AHS. Unfortunately, I had to submit a claim for a repair within two weeks from the date my plan went into effect. The process from start to finish I would rate as well above my expectations. With regards to customer service, the agent I spoke with about the claim was very helpful and accommodating. The repair process was completed within 48 hours . The service technician was very pleasant and efficient in getting the repair completed in a timely manner. Moving forward to another matter, I contacted AHS to discuss a personal matter with billing and I was satisfied with the information that was related to me concerning the amount of the bill. However, I asked if I could make a plan change or upgrade my current plan in order to add additional coverage pertaining to electronic devices, I was told that no changes including the option to cancel the membership was not possible because I had submitted a claim that was approved for payment to the service contractor. I attempted to explain that the information being relayed was not in the warranty booklet I received nor was it stated when I read the information on the company’s website. To the contrary, it stated that additional coverage can be requested and obtained from a new customer if made within 60 days from the date the plan went into effect, which in my case is March 28; 2023., meaning that I should have until May 28, 2023 to add additional coverage. As I have already stated, I am still considered to be a new customer, in my opinion based on the information I hav ever read, where there is no mention that a stipulation exists for anyone who have submitted a claim. I am not having a good feeling from my first impression of the company at this point. I may decide to make contact with another agent or a manager to find out more about this benefit that is offered to a new customer. Until such time, I am left feeling very unsure about what may be real or unreal based on someone’s own interpretation without having to verify with me where I can locate the information in writing that the agent is referencing verbally by phone. Thank you for the opportunity to express my particular concerns about AHS. ,

I like when you send real technicians to our homes. So many of your contractors are really bad. It may be a good idea for your company to check yelp reviews to cycle through the bad contractors. I hope this helps other people with your home warranties

Member of AHS over 25 years, love the company but notice over the years that some of the contractors has been less then professional (7 - 10 wait before responding) & poor craftsmanship/quality of work (Bissett plumbing came 3 times for the same problem (leak in my bathroom & never corrected the leak), finally paid out of pocket for a plumber to come fix the problem...the 1st time.
