They don't have enough company's that they work with to have someone come to fix a problem in a timely manner. I have had a power outage since Sunday and it is now Thursday had to pay a hotel all these days besides losing all groceries. Someone came Wednesday left an today Thursday and turns out the whole half of the house has no power still and all the lights are flickering and very dim. I have paid over $1500 in service fees not counting any out of pocket expenses due to their lack of follow up and accountability. They take forever to send someone and if the company is booked with appointments you're basically stuck waiting for days because they don't have other options to meet customer demand. I never know any diagnostics on the items requested for service. Everytime that I request service each time I have to call back for a recall because the job is not completed or the problem fixed. This is so frustrating, expensive and inconvenient! Horrible service.

I have used my American Home Shield on two instances. AHS is pretty consistent, the reason for 4 stars is that some of the contractors are better than others. Get a good contractor and parts are on hand the service is a 5...... get a situation with a bad contractor and it averages out quick.... AHS does a good job overall

Sometimes quick and awesome, sometimes takes FIVE MONTHS to complete a dishwasher request. We survived, obviously, but having a non-functional dishwasher on top of having a brand new baby who needed bottles, and a toddler was extremely difficult. Add to that that no-one's installed it for us, it kind of negates all the good work that's been done aside from that.

I'm fairly new member. Was impressed with Metropolitan's service. Believe my "problem" was solved by "Nas" who moved a duct so more a/c would come into one of my two bedrooms which has always remained hotter than other bedroom and living room.

I had this company from December 2017 until February 2020. They were very prompt with sending out techs to repair and took he clients best interest into consideration. During my time with them, I only had 1 major problem where they sent my repair check in another customers name and my statements to that customer.

Ive been a customer for over 10 years and have been satisfied with the service until this year. The wait time to speak to someone regarding existing orders is at least an hour, EVERYTIME you call. The representatives from the Phillipines etc are cordial but do not help me. They listen patiently, say they will check the problem and return my call. No return calls, so I'm back on the phone for an hour. HELP! I've been tryingo to get a DW fixed since the beginning of June. Sears came, ordered parts and I've been patiently waiting for the second part of arrive. It's now been over a month without my DW. They say the part is difficult to find. It's a 3 year old Maytag. I've gone on line and seen parts for that model available. What's going on? Please someone call me.

I like AHS. I have been a customer for a very long time. It is a good service that covers and takes care of most situations and circumstances. As a first time home buyer, it was exactly what I needed to allow to me to sleep at night knowing that when things start going sideways, I would at least have a good place to start.

We've had AHS for 12 years and have been very pleased with the service. However, it does take a long time to get an obviously un-fixable appliance replaced. Understandably, a few tries from a few companies, but multiple calls to AHS and multiple companies with double digit tries is extreme. Once the decision was made for replacement and I was put in touch with the correct people, AHS was prompt and helpful. I'm currently trying to replace another un-fixable appliance and I am having trouble.

Right now, I am very set with America Hoome Shield. Since May 20th, the technician was out 5 different times to repair my wash machine that is still not working. he replaced 2 drive boards at 2 different times, machine is still not working, The last time out, he said he would call to do a cash out. I called AHS, several times, stayed on hold for each call, from 45mins, to 1 1/2 hours to speak with someone. ask to speak with a manager or supevisor, that never happened. Last call was today, After staying on hold for over an hour, spoke with a person that called the contracting company, and was told, someone will be out on Thursday to place anoother board. so now what if this one doesn't work. I pay AHS every month on time. I feel like I am getting the run around. I am 81years old, and having to go out in the Pandemic to wash in veryunsafe.

I had two (2) Plumming contractors scheduled from American Home Shield that destroyed my Kitchen towel floor not fixing dishwasher properly and my dining room ceiling due to plumbing not being properly addressed the first time which caused a ceiling breaking in , in my newer style home in which could cause cancellations to a regular home insurance caused by faulty contractors, extremely long waits and extremely long service calls

Frustrating that the first serviceman you sent out gave sorry diagnosis and we had to request a second company. You did cover it as you should have from the first. It’s very hard to get thru when calling so went several weeks without pool heater.

I've called AHS for 4 different appliances. 1 appliance (AC) things went ok. The other 3 have resulted in multiple visits without a good result. The kitchen faucet had almost no water coming out but the water line feeding it was fine. AHS refused to fix the faucet because they don't fix water pressure issues. I had to go get a new faucet and install it myself. The fridge issues have resulted in multiple visits always for with same outcome. Fridge works well for 2 months and the issue comes back. The technician was always straightforward with me (that it isn't a permanent solution) but I can't get a different answer from AHS besides pay 75 dollars again and have a fridge for another 2 months. The last appliance to not be fixed is the water heater. Twice I've had technicians come over to just (reset the water heater and call it a day) which I have done myself multiple times, but this fix is obviously not permanent. The last time I complained a little more and I was told the unit needs to be descaled and to do that, they would need plumbing changes and AHS didn't cover that (over $900) and here we are (I'm not sure they are wrong). The bottom line is: you get AHS for convenience, peace of mind and to be protected from unexpected expenses, it just doesn't deliver.

Been having an issue with my A/C unit leaking Freon. AHS sent out a company they found the leak, my unit needed to be replaced. AHS replaces the unit with no issues. Glad I had them to cover a major expense.

Minor issues are resolved quickly but anything that takes the course of a few weeks there is not great follow up. I’ve been on hold over 6 hours total in 2 days just to speak to someone about my issues. Was hung up as well which caused me to start over. Also the assigned contractor for my service was absolutely terrible. Diagnosed wrong 4 times and extremely rude.

we were introduced to AHS when we purchased our house in 1993 and the seller provided a year policy. At that point, we'd never heard of such insurance. It seemed like a good idea, and it was quite reasonable, so we renewed it the following year and have don so annually every since. The first few times we needed to call on AHS they were supportive, responsive, and followed through as one would envision should be done. Over the intervening years, the price has increased significantly but more importantly, the ability to get a satisfactory response, not with the companies with which they contract to provide service, but with AHS itself. It has become more adversarial with AHS throwing up barriers and placing ever more limitations on the coverage ( which, of course, is probably somewhere in the fine print but not what one envisions when considering such coverage). Just placing the call starts the gastric juices flowing. And, by the way, talking to a human is virtually impossible. Not my idea of customer service.

I have been with AHS for 3 yrs, never used them till now. My air conditioner was not working when i got home. The temperature in my house was 88 degree. I called them and spent 2 hrs on the phone with them, that is, after I had to wait 35mins before I could get someone to assist me. The rep gives me the phone number to a company, I called them. they were not contracted with AHS. I had to call AHS AGAIN and wait AGAIN till someone could assist me. They could not find a company to come out and take care of my problem. He told me someone would get back to me. I finally found a company that serviced 24hrs (which is what AHS advertise and don't comply) I called them. He was at my home in 1hr and fixed the problem. Bottom line, I'm cancelling my account with AHS. I paid AHS for the month of June and I had to pay the company for fixing my air. NEVER will I do business with AHS again nor do i remomment it.

Repairman advised fridge was not repairable on 5.26.20. Told me AHS would contact me in 24-48 hours with replacement options. I called on 5.27 (on hold 55 minutes to be told by LaQueensia it had been switched to the Replacement Unit) and told someone would be in touch with me. I called back on 5.29 & talked to a woman named Earl after 50 minutes of being on hold. She transferred me to the department & gave me the # in case we got disconnected. 45 minutes after she transferred, I was fed up with the on-hold music & hung up. No resolution & lots of wasted time, AHS!! I have been without my fridge since May 12th ..... one very unhappy AHS customer ---- & don't even use the "C virus" excuse!!!!!

I called AHS because my dryer was not working. The technician first came out and replaced a fuse. A second trip was needed to replace the heating unit. AHS took care of everything. Very happy with the service, response time and fixing the issue. I didn't have to pay $75 for each visit.

I put in a work order for AC not working. Contractor came out and coil had pinhole leaks. $500 to me $ 1600 to them. AHS called contractor and said NO. Replace unit $700 to them 7 modifications not covered $1900 for me! I called both AHS would not repair covered coil because new unit cheaper for them. I have been with AHS 25 years, never a problem ,always prompt with repairs small and large. After 2 days and hours on the phone with them to just fix the coil as covered, all they cared about was their cost and not me their customer. Conclusion is 2nd opinion on AC . I am so upset with AHS, that they have changed to using my money to protect them now more than me their customer. I probably will get the same results With 2nd opinion because it saves them money and cost me quad triple. Watch out they will do what’s best for them not you. This company does not have the same principles as they had in the past when they were a smaller company. Me ,my family $ and friends are looking at other companies. Very sad

My husband is a disabled vet and can not fix the things that come up. We have had AHS for several years and have used service a couple times for a washer repair in the home we live in and appointments were very slow but I understand since we live in a very small town. The washer kept breaking down and I finally just bought a new one didn't want to wait to have them replace that same part again. Our rental house is 8 hours North and have had service once that still took several days to but finally repair was completed than last year had the sewer pump malfucntionand after many phone calls, service calls from three different companies and 5 weeks of renters not able to use water in the house. I ended up with a $3000 bill and AHS deciding that they wouldn't cover anything outside the foundation. All the houses in that area of DuPont WA have sewer pumps. I have also let all the HOA's, property managers and Realtors, know that AHS does not cover these repairs. I am looking for an alternative company to take care of houses.

In 100 degree weather our air condition compressor for our master bedroom , located on second story, went out. The unit ceased. AHS responded by assigning a contractor in a different city, over an hour and a half away, and I could not reach by phone. Kept getting answering service. I complained and said my husband is not in good health, need asap service. They assigned the call to a local provider but failed to tell me. The original contractor came from out of town, confirmed the unit has ceased and told me to call AHS to see if they will expedite dute to hot weather and ill health. AMERICAN HOME SHIELD WILL NOT ALLOW A CONTRACTOR TO PROVIDE REPLACEMENT. THEY ORDER IT AND SEND IT FROM GOD KNOW WHERE. NOW I LEARN THAT IT WILL BE 5 - 8 BUSINESS DAYS TO GET SERVICE. WE WILL HAVE TO SLEEP IN A HOTEL BECAUSE HUSBAND CAN NOT TAKE THAT HEAT. THEY REALLY DON'T CARE. IT IS WHAT IT IS. MEANWHILE MY NEIGHBOR HAD HIS UNIT GO DOWN AND OLD REPUBLIC REPLACED IT WITHIN TWO DAYS.

We had our garage door opener go out, one of the preloaded springs broke, Unbeknownst to us those springs aren't covered under our policy. I wished they could've subtracted the $75 initial call fee from the overall bill. Other than that the service call was quick and prompt and had our door running like new.

I like that the call was acted upon the day I called. I did like being told when he walked in that if it was a manufacturer's defect, it would not be covered. How am I to know, before I commit $100 that the problem I am reporting is a manufacturer's defect? Especially if the appliance is over a year old.

I James Lawrence have been a customer for about 4 yrs. I aiso have auto withdraw out of my checking account. It was do to come out on the 2nd of every month. In febuary. Witch happened to be on sunday. They called me on Monday wanting there money. They wanted my to come up with account to be payed. Iask him to go over my accout again. I got frustrated with the person . He than went bank over my account again seeing that it was do to come out before midnite.They had told me they dropped the ball. The company is very quick in their response to the customers problem, but the referred to companies do not have good reviews....in my experience. Which is why only 3 stars. But the latest problem I had (microwave totally dead) was fixed by a wonderful technician from a company that had bad reviews. I took a chance (it was the week before Thanksgiving and I was hosting) and it could have turned out better. Major problems with the over the stove GE microwave. But the technician, Serge was fabulous. He had new parts ordered and installed in 2 days!

I had American Home Shield coverage forover 6 years. At the beginning, it was ok. But my last 2 experiences were horrible. we had a furnace failure in freezing temperatures. When I filed my claim, the soonest someone could come out was 3 days later! I called an spoke to a rep who just would not understand that having no heat in freezing weather is going to cause pipes to freeze and I will have much bigger issues than just no heat. She did NOT offer me expedited service (which I later discovered would have been approved for my situation by the Retention Dept). I spent HOURS with AHS on the phone with incompetent reps, who had no understanding of house systems and leaving me frustrated out of my mind. In the end, I had to hire my own company to fix the problem. The last issue was with the quality of the professional they sent out to fix a plumbing leak. I had a leak coming from the sewer ejection pump in our basement. This time, the AHS reps were fine and placed my order as expedited. They found a plumber who said he would come out that same night. He did not show up until 11 AM the next morning, and never communicated this. When he did come, he didn't examine anything and said we needed an all new sewer ejection pump and we weren't covered and left promptly. I called AHS and was assured we were covered. Long story short, this plumber was horrible and it turned out to be a very simple fix in the pipe leading to the sewer ejection pump. The problem wasn't fixed until 50 hours after I filed my claim (he showed up at almost 9 PM, after saying 6 PM). It caused me so much unnecessary stress and I had to shop vac the water out of my basement for nearly 2 days. I decided it's just easier not to deal with AHS anymore.

When AHS had a company on file in my area, the repair process was quick and satisfying. When AHS did not have a company on file for a different repair I needed, I had to find my own contractor and get reimbursed by AHS. Finding the contractor was easy, but getting acknowledgement and reimbursement from AHS was tedious and over-long.
