It was easy to go online to report a problem with my A/C unit at night. I had a contractor contact me by email within about 15 minutes. I called the contractor at the supplied number and had an appointment fo 3 days later becaus i reported the problem on Thursday night and the appointment was the following Monday.

They replaced my AC unit but not the interior unit which is not compatible with the newer AC. They want me to pay the $3000 to have it replaced, even though its keeps freezing up since the outside AC was replaced. Its over 100 here in Texas and is supposed to be for atleast the next 2 weeks if not the entire summer. We have to shut the unit down several times a day to thaw out the A Coil. In doing so we also have to replace the filter everyday because it gets wet and the house during the day is usually 90 until about 6:00 in the evening from continuously shutting it off and the AC not able to cool it down before freezing. I am a disabled Veteran that was forced to retire from my Government job at the beginning of Covid in 2020 and can't afford to pay $3000 to replace it. I am living in my rv because its too hot to stay in the house and and going to sell it.

Because of the vendors they use and the fact that they dont have to do anything and still get your $100. Thats unacceptable in my book and really dont plan on re-newing because of this fact. They have a vendor come in to do work on plumming who claimed he had to go on top of our house, when in fact he didnt. We called AHS to explained that he didnt do anything and they sent someone else out who did the services without having to go on top of our house. This let us know the 1st company was trying to make more money off of us. If we had let them gone on top of our house to do the drainage it would have costed us over five hundred dollars. We are still charged stating even if the vendor comes out and look and do nothing we are still responsible for the $100. This let me know that AHS did not care and also is just after the money to have charged me for something simple not done!! I was charged and poor excuse given!

The first time I had to use there service I had a great experience. I was so happy that I started telling everyone about them. Then everything went wrong. This latest experience was very painful. The agents seem to not know what was going on and it was difficult to get a supervisor to talk to. There is no follow through with the contractor after they are assign to a customer. There is also no follow up with the customer. It took a year to get my water heater replace. I was unable to get in touch with the assign contractor and every time I contact AHS I was told that they could not reach the contractor either and then nothing. They would promise to call me with update but never did. I am currently researching other home warranty companies.

Well I'll start with customer service calls that are forwarded to India or where ever so your name is(AMERICAN) home shield how about when customers who need to talk to someone call oh i dont know maybe speak to a darn AMERICAN!!!!!! #2 my last service request was my sewage pump so the guy from k&s plumbing comes to my house and proceeds to try and RIP me off if you look at what he claimed was $850 out of pocket for me was a total of $38 plus i bought and install the sewage pump all these parts abs pvc pipe for $346. So i called and that's were #1 issue comes from because it's been almost 3 weeks and i still have not recieved a call from supervisor!!!!! #3 so im looking at my bank statements and i set y'all are now charging me $58.99 instead of the $49.99 that i agreed on not once but twice so that needs to be fixed my checking was shut down due to getting compromised so the accountwas not closed, changed or anything for the price to. Thanks

We have been with American Home Shield for years and they have always been honest, upfront and very easy to work with. Anyone with a older/Aging house should consider their coverage. Our house turned 100 years old this year and American Home Shield has more than paid for itself over the years.

first electrician that was sent out did not want to look into why we had a serious electrical problem instead he stated that for 350.00 he would go underneath the house to find out why we had electrical problem i refused and checked with AHS they send out another electriction he found out the problem right away in kitchen negative wiring was wrong . the first electrician wanted to make unnessasary money from me!! The first plummer that was sent out to check my water heater looked at it for one min. and left.!

They sent us really really bad plumbing company. Luckily, based on the reviews, we disputed the diagnostic of the plumbers and asked AHS to send us different plumbers. Sure enough, the diagnosed the problem differently and solved it quickly-saving us and AHS time and money. Point is, AHS should not be working with the service providers that have bad reputation and reviews.

I've had American Home Shield on every home I've ever owned. They are always quick to respond and send the best qualified repairmen to help. When appliances cannot economically repaired, then give me a choice to either replace it or accept a cash payment towards my purchase of a new appliance. I would not own a home with AHS!

Customer service is wonderful however what the policy covers, such as plumbing basically only includes unstoppable a stoppage, however the toilet has to be removed to snake the system but the customer is responsible for removing and replacing the toilet to the tune of about $350. So in reality, it costs you $450 to unstoppable your plumbing. If it is faulty, it does not cover any repair. If they have to cut into your wall to reach plumbing, you are responsible dor the sheetrock repair. Not always worth it.

We have used AHS several times for tune-ups and repairs. The reservation process seems fairly easy and the vendors have been good so far. What we don't get is the underlying information about what AHS pays for a service if anything and how much I'm saving by using this service. Example: We had a toilet replaced and wanted to upgrade the toilet from the AHS approved. The vendor couldn't explain the amount AHS would pay towards the item vs our upcharge. It should be clearer what savings we get from paying a monthly fee.

Use contractors who are not upfront about how they will move forward with the job. One company left me a receipt detailing what needed to be ordered to come back and do the work. Then I find out through AHS the work won't be conducted. Another issue is AHS close out service requests without being knowledgeable if the service was actually completed. One company probably would've never returned to complete the work if I didn't monitor AHS. I went without a bathroom sink faucet for months"company came, saw the problem, and had to order the part. That took two week, when they came back it was the wrong part. They had to order another part. When I went to AHS the service request was listed as completed. If I would've never contacted AHS I am sure that company would've never come back to actually complete the work.

Very easy to get repairs scheduled. The only reason it isn't a 5 is the amount of emails, phone calls and letters in the mail is excessive. I know I have them I don't need to be reminded every day with multiple emails and letters in the mail.

The scheduling at American Home Shield was very helpful and the contractors that performed the services were excellent. However, I had an issue with my water heater that American Home Shield would not cover. AHS claimed it was not covered because the issue was pre-existing. However, I just purchased this home with the home warranty included and this "pre-existing" condition was not disclosed in any of my purchase documents. Therefore I would expect issues that arise to be covered by the warranty.

A competent contractor was contacted for my insurance work. They tried to fix my AC but couldn't do it. So a new you it was needed. This was quickly completed too. I did have to pay about 3k for permits and fees and stuff but still satisfied

Service has been great! However, I only give four stars Because of the monthly charge. I've been a loyal subscriber for over 12 years. But evidently that does not mean anything to American home shield warranty. Since every year for the last five years they go up on the monthly price. I am at almost double of the monthly charge than when I originally joined. There are plenty other providers out there that I'm considering that will get me back to my original monthly charge.

It was a long process to get our furnace replaced. I had to wait an additional 2 days before someone was able to come out because they sent a company that did not specialize in our Bryant furnace. This was even after I specifically told them I needed a company who does work on those furnaces because this issue happened in the past. After the initial service request and a review to approve the replacement of our furnace it, it took almost a week to get it replaced. There was no urgency despite me telling them we have an infant in the home but since it wasn't below freezing, it didn't seem like they were in a rush to help replace our furnace than the standard time they told me.

They are an okay company. They're not awful, they're not amazing .they're okay. Some of the companies have been lovely. I've had three different companies come out for my dishwasher. This last time, may have fixed it, but now it's leaking! With my pool filter-it was being replaced, I picked one out but the pool person, who was a bit rude, told me "no, we'll use what they want ". It's My Home why does someone else get to dictate what I can and can't do? Then when you call to speak with someone, you are ALWAYS speaking with someone out-of-country. WHY?! When so many, State-Side, would love an at-home job?! You want to 'insure' American homes, not employ American workers? This company okay: not awful and not amazing.

Really no value for money. They hardly have any vendors to choose from and when they finally do find them - they are not exactly the best ones and they also do not come from the local area so that affects their efficiency, availability, etc. When they use vendors like Sears (because there is nobody else!) - it took almost three months to get a part and AHS would not even try to use another vendor to expedite the service call. In chats with local vendors we found out that it's not worth to them to sign up with AHS! That was a bit of a wake up call. Anyway, this call I made regarding our shower faucets - it turns out - shame on ME! My complaint 'for job not done/problem not resolved' - was acknowledged and I was given both a half fee refund (yay?!) and a tiny lecture about regarding the 'paragraph .blah, blah, blah of the contract' where it apparently states that they don't take care of THOSE plumbing problems!!!! What's the point of having this 'warranty'?!? We pay $89 a month only to be told to go look for someone else - and pay them as well! The call on system is set up that you can't explain Other problem (can't type up what you are calling about!) - so that's a first step that's wrong! If you can't send people to fix our problems- then there should be a way to tell us (sorry, remind us?!) that that particular problem is not in 'paragraph blah, blah, blah ,) and then you don't charge us - and we call outside people or as usual, we teach ourselves on YouTube and fix it ourselves! The only thing that's nice are those over-polite customer service people that sound like they are in another country and they try to oblige and they seem so eager to get those Fives after the call. They try to do their job, but sometimes you feel that their hands are also tied. Enough. Thank you for listening and for your time.

In 2019 I had Choice Home Warranty. and my water heater began leaking the following year. They would not cover it as they only cover the mechanics of the system. I dropped them that day and went with AHS. Six years later and no issues.

A/C unit needed repair wanted 1400 dollars for Freon. Unit is 20 yrs old total repair was 1800 dollars. So instead of spending 1800 dollars on a 20 year old unit I bought a new unit. They only offered 1270 dollars for buy back. The offer was only the amount to fix the unit 1270 dollars. As long as I been with AHS and the A/C unit was 20 years old. I fill it should have been more because I replaced the hole unit. AHS benefit's the most. So I think that was unfair to do me that way. A loyal customer for years!!!!

Had problems with Home shields the very first time that I used them. I had problems with my refrigerator I call HS they sent technician to look at the problem, tech. took a look at the frig. I was told that they no longer had the tools to fix the frig. But not to worry H. S. would take care of the situation, but when I heard from H. S. customer service I was told that they wouldn't replace the frig. because the tech told them that the frig. had been mistreated. That really sent my blood pressure up. I had paid them for about four years and had not use them for anything big but when I needed help they tried to give me the run around really put a bad taste in my mouth. I feel that I should not have had to get upset like that. They came through when I had to have a washing machine but I stayed on edge thinking that they would not replace it. This year the price has gone up again I can't Afford H. S. I'm on a fixed income .

AHS has always responded quickly to my online requests for service. There has always been follow-up communication regarding the assigned contractor and after the work was completed. The only reason I gave a 4-star review was when I tried to submit a service request the last time for my clothes dryer, there was no box for comments to be made. It stated that my contractor may be one who performed virtual evaluations of the appliance. I am totally against virtual evaluation because AHS stuck us with an appliance repair service for our washer about a year ago and it delayed a true service visit. There should be a way to leave comments on the service request sheet.

I can't imagine owning home and NOT having the home warranty. I'm a single woman, and while I'm capable of fixing things myself, I do not have any desire to do these things myself. I've heard others talk about their home warranty and not be too impressed. AHS has always been awesome to deal with. Thank you.

When I call up with a problem, the job is dispatched quickly. I sometimes get a callback from the company (who will be addressing the problem) within hours. Technicians who come out to the home are knowledgeable and friendly.

All service issues were addressed promptly; on one repair of an icemaker, the company elected to replace the unit, rather than repair it. I was not contacted and notified by the company that that action had been taken, I found out when I was contacted by the repair company when they were seeking to close their ticket, which was about a month after the repair investigation.

Thank you for asking, I placed an order for some repairs, Refrigerator, stove top and microwave. The stove top and the microwave are fixed now. Since February 24th, we are still trying to get repairs on our refrigerator. There have been two different contractors and still not working. It's a proven fact AHS does not honor their contract.

Clear-Flow fixed both our faucets that were leaking, as well as the toilet that had broken. However, the toilet still does not always flush properly. It worked while they were here, but now only when it feels like it. Likely not due to anything they did (or didn't do), but was hoping this would be permanently fixed. Overall, they were very competent and respectful.

The response time on my first claim submitted with AHS was excellent. A very reputable local contractor responded as promised, and the service tech was very professional & efficient - resolving the issue with my 9-yr old refrigerator, which required a new icemaker to replace the original that has been leaking.
