I purchased the Ring Doorbell late last year. I really love the doorbell and have had no issues with the device. We had to purchase the ring yearly service to get the most out of the device. I was hoping to only use the device without a paid service. Overall, I am very happy with our purchase and would purchase additional ring devices for our home.

Ring Doorbell is not that great! Ring doesn't capture what's important. For example! Someone hit my neighbor car and Ring missed that capture. Ring Door Bell is not worth the price they charge for it.
ADT requires a 36-month contract for its monitoring services. Early termination of the contract may result in cancellation fees, typically amounting to 75% of the remaining balance.
Ring does not require any contracts for its monitoring services. Users can opt for professional monitoring on a month-to-month basis, providing flexibility to cancel at any time without penalties.
ADT offers a Quality Service Plan, which provides extended limited warranty protection for a fee. Specific details regarding the duration and cost of this warranty are not readily available online, so it's advisable to consult with an ADT representative for more information.
Ring provides a one-year warranty on its devices. While this is shorter than some competitors, it covers defects in materials and workmanship. Customers should ensure the reliability of Ring's devices within the first year, as malfunctions after this period may require purchasing replacements at full price.
ADT offers a six-month money-back guarantee. If ADT cannot resolve system-related issues within the first six months of activation, customers may receive a refund. Certain restrictions apply, so reviewing the full terms and conditions on ADT's website is recommended.
Ring offers a 30-day return policy. Customers can return products within 30 days of purchase for a full refund if they are not satisfied. This policy provides a shorter evaluation period compared to ADT's guarantee.
ADT's monthly monitoring fees start at $28.99 for basic packages. More advanced packages, which include additional features like home automation and video surveillance, have higher monthly fees.
Ring offers professional monitoring through its Ring Protect Plus plan at $10 per month or $100 per year. This plan includes 24/7 professional monitoring, video recording, and extended warranties on devices.
ADT charges an upfront fee for equipment and installation. The exact amount varies based on the chosen package and equipment, so consulting with an ADT representative for precise pricing is advisable.
Ring's equipment is purchased upfront, with prices varying depending on the selected devices and packages. Since Ring systems are designed for DIY installation, there are no professional installation fees, potentially reducing overall upfront costs.
ADT offers several security packages:
Ring provides customizable security packages that can include doorbell cameras, indoor and outdoor cameras, alarm systems, and various sensors. Users can build a system tailored to their specific needs and expand it over time.
ADT offers high-quality equipment with options for home automation, including smart locks, lights, thermostats, and garage door controls. These devices can be controlled through the ADT mobile app, providing integrated home security and automation solutions.
Ring is known for its innovative equipment, particularly its video doorbells and security cameras. Ring devices integrate with various smart home platforms, allowing users to control and monitor their systems through the Ring app and compatible smart home devices.
When deciding between ADT and Ring, it’s important to consider your specific needs, budget, and preferences:
Both companies excel in different areas, making them suitable for different types of customers. ADT offers a more traditional, professionally managed approach, while Ring emphasizes flexibility and affordability with modern, tech-driven solutions. Carefully assess your home security priorities to determine which system best fits your lifestyle.
We're on a mission to empower consumers to make the best decisions and connect confidently with companies that deserve their business.
