I have been a customer for 27 years, not missing a payment for 25 years. Guardian Protection is a pretty good service. The problem I have is with their cameras, and in hindsight I did have a big problem with the cameras facing the driveway at our old address. I paid over $1,700 to have cameras installed at our new address and the one over the driveway has giving me trouble almost from the beginning, and since around June/July it just doesn't work at all. Guardian Protection sent someone to check it out and he couldn't fix it, he passed it up as our WiFi, well three other cameras are working !! Guardian Protection even convinced me to split the WIFI in our home, that has truly complicated the rest of our WiFi needs, laptops cellphone, TV'S, it's been a nightmare since we split the WiFi. So for the pass10 months about 8 service techs have been to our home, for installation of course (which all should have been completed and working after installation), too putting in batteries, changing motion sensor, and they wanted to send another tech to try and fix the driveway camera again at a cost. Which could cost up to $150. Guardian Protection plug in connection for the cameras stays RED ALL THE TIME. I've tried resetting it, but it switches back and forth but stays mostly RED. I'm going to change services. Weighting my opinions with other companies. But I will be changing. Sometimes you gotta get rid of the old and try something new. It just really seems like in these times you just can't good quality service even when there are NO MISSED PAYMENTS FOR OVER 25 YEARS. I call this a loyal customer and customer should feel the same way about the service they are paying for. I would like for Guardian to FIX THIS CAMERA THEY INSTALLATED and I don't feel I should have to pay anything to fit it. Guardian Protection a 2 1/2 stars.

I have used Guardian for over 20 years, at 3 different houses. At first I loved them. I had the same regional Guardian service in my 1st and 2nd house. They did a great job and I had no issue with their service. In the last 5 years, in another region, something changed. They are rigid and have over billed me. In my last house I replaced a door and Guardian mailed me a new connector for the door. When I received the connector, I called them and they helped me set it up. In my recent house, the same occurred AND the carbon monoxide detector was faulty (kept going off). I called and they suggested a rep come out to help and that would cost a $25 service fee since I had a service contract. The gentleman came out and said the CO detector was faulty and he would replace that. He also said my new connector would cost $40. OK. Well, then I got the bill. They charged me $40 for the connector and $180 for the installation CO detector. WHAT? I have called them several times and I am being told that was their rate for service. I can't get a manager on the phone. I am canceling my service. Oh, wait, there is a $350 fee to cancel. Great. My contract is ending in a couple months so I will be cancelling then. Another item to note, and they told me they couldn't turn this off, if there is a weather alert the alarm goes off. If you aren't home and have pets, your animals will be traumatized as mine were. The initial alert goes off for about 2 minutes, then you get a 3 sec chirp every couple of minutes forever until you manually turn it off. What are they thinking? If you aren't home to hear and turn off the alarm, why does it keep going off????? Fur babies be aware.

Protection is great. Billing or Customer service is where I had a problem. My initial set up information Was incorrect. Wrong email, wrong phone number, I never got any billing statements. I found out on my own when my system got turned off and I got sent into Collections because of a new debit card and I had no idea I was late. Soon as I corrected the mistake I paid. But, had to jump through all kinds of unexpected red tape.

Yes, their system does a good job of alerting the local police in the event of a break-in. That's where my satisfaction ends with them. This company will nickel & dime you from the day you sign up. I had them put a wireless security system in my home two years ago and I've been sorry ever since. You NEED to sign a 5 yr deal. Okay, but now I feel like a hostage until it expires. I signed up for what I thought was going to be a killer system that I could continue to grow, but Guardian is WAY TOO GREEDY for that. I discovered that my second week as a customer. When they originally set the system up, it immediately alerted them when someone set off the motion sensors. This happened frequently every morning in the beginning as we were new customers and were forgetting to disarm the system before we left the bedroom. So, the phone would ring asking if everything was okay. etc. I wanted to get that adjusted to give us like 45 seconds to disarm the system before they called us. No problem, after a 25.00 charge to reprogram the system remotely. WHAT??? REALLY??? i quickly learned that what you pay for each month is JUST the monitoring service. If you need ANYTHING else with regards to the system, you will pay!! I am a Smart Home geek and I originally envisioned this system to be an extension of my smart home system. They put in a really awesome, state of the art smart home security panel which would function in conjunction with my smart things hub. In fact, I was blinded by how cool this panel was, and was the main reason I chose them over ADT. However, they will not give me ANY access to that panel so that I can tie it into my home systems and take advantage of its capabilities. All I can do is arm and disarm it. Instead, I was told is that they would program it for me. Okay great, however, when you hear the prices that they quote for a remote configuration, it just wouldn't make any sense. Anyone who has set up a smart home will tell you that it is rarely static. There are always things you see and would like to try. add, change, but Guardian's fees for each and every change makes that cost prohibitive. So, I have this awesome panel that I could do a lot of cool things with, but the system sits and monitors my home like alarm systems have done for the last 25 years. Oh, and better yet, the wireless sensors keep dying and going off line. In two years, I've had multiple issues where they stop working. If you let Guardian visit your house there's a healthy service charge associated. So, what have I decided to do? I've now have a new strategy when the Guardian sensors malfunction and I can't figure out why, I eliminate them. I replaced them with non-Guardian sensors and monitor them myself with my Smart Home system. Basically, as the system slowly breaks, there are less Guardian sensors and more that I monitor. When it reaches a certain percentage, I will get monitoring from one of the new security companies like SimpliSafe for those. Then, when the Guardian contract is over, I'll be free & clear of my 5 years of being a hostage. I'm about halfway through my hostage crisis. Guardian Protection is a money suck! Do yourselves a favor and use one of the newer companies like SimpliSafe for your security needs. They understand that it's 2019, not 1979! Guardian is still conducting business like its still 1980, much like the Cable TV Companies. They need to reinvent themselves or they will eventually die out like what has happened to the taxi cab industry in the wake of Uber. This is almost 2020, time to change your business model or face extinction! Lastly, I want to say that I have NO experience with SimpliSafe other than what I've read about them. I only use their name as a reference point for all the new security services that are sprouting. Do you research before you pick a company. I will when it's time, but Guardian, unless they change their business model, is yesterday's news.

I thing guardian is doing a good job monitoring my r'sidence. However, I am abiT disappointed when my monthly rate went up from $29.99 a month to over $32.00 a month. I am disappointed because when I first sign up with guardian, the representative told me that the $29.99 would never go up. The increase in price came as a surprise to me.

Prior to recent few months my experience with Guardian Protection was great! However, due to a recent urgent need to upgrade services from simply indoor security system monitoring only to also include their currently offered outdoor cameras'. Sadly, this recent experience has been a nightmare and has caused the once high opinion about Guardian's quality of services & equipment to shift into an opposite direction. Presently, however, Guardian has requested & promised to make an attempt at correcting the past concerns/issues at hand. Hopefully, at this juncture, everything will be resolved and feeling safe/secure at home will not seem like only wishful thinking that forces a fourteen year business relationship to end.

Original installation was not good. Installers complained about the work and then did not install all equipment requested. They left packaging behind and plugged in a device without explaining what it was. After complaining about doorbell had never worked and the camera has never worked well they sent a technician who charged me 105 to fix a doorbell that still doesn’t work. When I asked to have them removed I because this is the antithesis of security was informed that I would have to speak with the loyalty department about my contract. The loyalty department informed me they could take the charge off but I own the defunct equipment and they would not remove it. What in the world? You have e to pay for equipment that doesn’t work or provide you security and then pay for it to be fixed more than once well over the cost of it being replaced. This is not the consumer experience I expected when I signed up.

Customer service needs more training. When called was put to 3 people said router was not compatible with the cameras. When the tech came out (Derek B) he didn't have to change anything just had to do a few switches and now no problems. He was very informative. Will request him at all times if needed again

I had to travel a distance to have the phone repaired and when I called to schedule it they didn't give me the address, had to call back. And once I got there then they told me it would be 2 hours. Never informed me of this ahead of time

We had Patrick M. come to our house yesterday to fix something on our system, and I could not be more pleased. He was kind, patient and thorough, and I could not ask for more from a service experience. However, Guardian is extremely hit or miss and we have had some terrible service representatives as well. Their equipment tends to go down a great deal, so we have had our share of reps come out.
