With minor stuff they're fine. However, I had back surgery last year and they were a nightmare. They could not figure out when I satisfied my deductible and co- pay. I am still getting dunning letters from doctors and hospital.
Don't like them at all. Lousey ins coverage and told one of the vendors after I had bought my ileostomy supplies for 3 months they would not pay because they were not an "approved vendor". I owe the pharmacy close to $600 that I have to pay myself.

All insurance has skyrocketed in price the last few years. But if you have to pay, we want a great service. They do a great job with customer service. We have never had a problem finding a provider.
The health insurance is not bad. The doctors I use are associated with UHC too. Really the only issue I have was the prescription cost. I know that different places charge different amounts, but sometimes it seemed the price was high.

I've had United health insurance for several years now and have generally been happy. Most providers take United and they have good programs that incentivize you to get annual check ups and to be healthy. More good than bad.
I have been a part of UnitedHealthcare for a long time. They are good to work with and have always been easy to work with. I wish I didn't have to pay so much out of pocket though for every service and it is a little complicated.
We never had a claim denied and always received excellent customer service when I called in with a question.

United of Omaha has processed many claims for me this past year. They have done so in a timely manner. Their monthly premiums are reasonable.
Have this insurance with Tricare have no co-pay and works well with my Medicare.
United has decent policies. What impressed me most was their mental health policies; all appointments with a counselor are 100% covered. Definitely check them out
United Healthcare's HSA website seems very limited and archaic to me. It's hard to find all the information I look for. They also do not approve medications I need to function at work, so I have to pay for those out of pocket. It seems the pre-authorization process will never be successful for certain medications for anyone.
Terrible company. Not at all customer focused. Find something else. I spend hours with them on the phone after they messed up my insurance while paying them $2k a month in Cobra.
Over the past few years this company has been "ok", but in the past 12 months has gone DOWN HILL FAST. They have stopped covering life-saving medication, and when I needed urgent care and submitted a claim for an out-of-network provider, they simply denied my claim. Now I have to go through a VERY complex appeal process, which I understand will take months. Their reps are trained not to pay claims, this is an old-school insurance practice that simply pisses people off. I cannot recommend anyone use UHC for their healthcare needs.
My family's experience with United Healthcare and their pharmaceutical company OptumRx has been horrible. The details on the issues we have are much like the hundreds of other disappointed UHC members. I am shocked that my husbands employer choose to do business with them. Their practices are unethical. HORRIBLE SUPERVISOR BECKY K 154 My son has medicaid and he had an appointment to bee seen by his dentist. We don't have dentists nearby that accept Medicaid so I had to schedule transportation services, considering that I'm disabled myself and that the facility where we had to go is an hour away. So I did, I called Medicaid and they booked the service for the right day. However, they called me back the next day to tel me that I had to book it through United Health Care and that's when my nightmare started. So I called United and they told me that because it was not a medical emergency, they couldn't book the trip, that it was too late. I explained to Dotty H and Becky K that the delay was because I was not given the right information and that I couldn't reschedule the appointment for a near date, considering that they take forever to schedule an appointment for Medicaid patients. I also explained to them that even when it's not a life threatening event, my son has a real problem with his teeth and that he also had already a cavity but they just didn't care at all. I'm changing my son out of United Health Care because they are actually United We Don't Care. All their customer service people are trained to not give their names and their service is all but caring. Very horrible and frustrating experience. That's when you see a different treatment when you're a disabled person who sadly depends on Medicaid.
Cann't seem to get our policy correct in their system. Insurance cards and plan summary show $30 co-pay. On the back end to the doctors it shows $60. United claims it was human error on data input on their side when processing specific claims. Still have not resolved after 3 months. how does it take that long to correct a human error and why do all of the doctors office my family visits still show the $60 co-pay? That is not a problem with one claim, that is a system problem.
United Healthcare is okay, better than some but not better than others. It seems every time the policy is renewed it costs us more for less. This last time policy was renewed they have inputted our co-pay wrong. It has been 4 weeks and they still don't have it fixed. They know it's wrong, confirm that it's wrong - but haven't fixed it. You would think it would be an easy fix.

Having worked in the medical field for many decades, I have personally dealt with dozens of health care insurance companies and medical plans. United healthcare is the scum-of-the-earth. Poison!! Literally, dealing with UHC is like dealing with organized crime. We're in South Florida, a location in which UHC has more than 20 different lines of insurance. Physicians' offices are fleeing UHC like rats from a sinking ship. The reason: UHC cheats, steals, and conducts themselves in a disgusting manner. Our office, long ago, quit/disenrolled as contracted "providers" with UHC (Reason: We got tired of all of the dishonest conduct. They were absolutely impossible to "work with"). More recently, UHC acquired a "good plan" that we do participate in. Now, in a few short months, this health plan is awful -- doctors, patients, and anyone else that I've spoken to hates it. Example: The surgical practice than I'm in knows all too well exactly how to submit any/all documentation for surgery preapproval/preauthorization -- we now have dozens of claims, for 100% fully preauthorized surgeries, in which (after the surgery) UHC "denies" the claim and does not pay-the-contracted-rate for the bill, and instead requests "documentation" (i.e. the EXACT SAME documentation that had already been submitted before the surgery, in order to get a preauthorization). It's shocking to me that this type of willful, criminal conduct is tolerated and sanctioned. UHC should not be allowed to conduct business in the State of Florida. Their pattern of abusive conduct is nothing short of willful organized crime. (Note: I certainly would have "rated" UHC as "ZERO Stars" but it was necessary to fill-in at least One Star to submit this completely honest and accurate review).
When I signed up for this product after continuous emails every week from AARP I assumed I was getting a tried and true product. But ever since that day I found myself with NO health care for 3 months due to a mistake by the person who processed my enrollment. During that time I saw a doctor for diabetic care on Jan 18, 2016 and incurred a bill for $198 which even UHC agrees they should have paid. However, after 18 months it remains unpaid by them and due to a series of processing errors or whatever they call it, I still have not been reimbursed for that doctor's visit which I paid myself since they threatened collection. Their blunders include the following: 1. indicating I would have coverage beginning Jan 1, 2016 after I moved from TX to AZ (not true) 2. telling me the doctor I saw on Jan 18, 2016 was enrolled in United Health Care (not true) 3. forcing me to lose effective coverage between Jan 1 and Apr 1, 2016, then admitting they messed up many months later and making it effective retroactively in Nov 2016. I would have had 2 months of extended coverage by my TX HMO except I was serviced in AZ and they do not cover service out of TX. 4. Even after this retroactive coverage, they have failed to reimburse me after 8 additional months after agreeing they made the error. They keep making excuses. As of July 10, 2017, their medical group is still processing it. This is a case seemingly without end. Based on my experience, beware of signing up for this product! It is to be fairly noted that the coverage was good, it is the reimbursement for expenses that they cannot seem to process properly or expedite.
United Health is an okay company, but service when calling for assistance on billing/EOB questions is slow and cumbersome.
I am Health Insured through my company with UnitedHealthCare Since April 1st 2016 till March 31st 2017. I reached maximum out of pocket December2016. After I reached maximum after of pocket, insurance company was liable to pay for my bills. After I reached maximum out of pocket, insurance company started denying treatment back to back. I was diagnosed with sleep Apnea in month of January(my insurance expires in March'17). From doctors stand point I was supposed to start using sleep CPAP machine but insurance company denied to provide me treatment. They told me that I don't meet the criteria. When I asked if I don't meet criteria then what is the treatment, I was told that they don't know, I should check with my health provider. My health provider consistently kept saying that you should use sleep cpap machine. Insurance company asked us to re-submit the results, my health provider did that but they again said that they will not look at the new results. I went back and forth multiple times but they were non- cooperative. They kept killing time so that next year starts and they can save money. I was not treated well, They also denied varicose veins treatment to my wife. Thanks PB
We had United Health for a limited time THANKFULLY! Their customer service is horrible - for a simple question you get bumped around and it can take upwards to an hour for an answer. What drove me to writing this review is their policies. I needed a proof of insurance letter to dispute an ER bill for my toddler that United should have taken care of. After requesting the letter I was told it would be 10-15 business days before it got to my address. After 30 days (today) I called back to see if A) it ever went out and B) if they can resubmit me a new letter. After being asked if I "check my mailbox sometimes" (crazy thing to ask since I'm calling to say it never came in) I was told it would be another 10-15 business days!! I asked for it to be e-mailed and they said they were unable to do so due to security measures (I understand this although a proof of insurance letter really should only have my dates insured and the name of the person so i'm a little confused as to how that breaks my security but whatever) The next alternative they offered me was for it to be faxed....this I was happy with - except for the fact that it would take 3-5 business days! This is not a joke but yet oddly hilarious that we live in an era with all this technology and to push a button to send a fax it will take 3-5 business days. I'm dealing with it. I'm waiting for it. And I will NEVER intentionally subscribe to go through any of this aggravation with this insurance company again!
I bought a short-term policy on the internet. They took my money and sent me a form letter saying go to website for card. The website requires an ID number which they failed to provide. Was on hold 1 1/2 hours today never spoke to customer service. I have had bad service before but this almost takes the cake. ALL of their interface options require member ID. There is no email to use. I am stuck thinking I have a policy but no proof thereof. Absolutely abysmal

The company flat out sucks you get prescription from your doctor takes over a week to fill it because of thwe paperwork required by the UHC. When you get a bill from the hospital, first they try to deny paying it, then they pay a part of it, and what ever balance you pay is not applied toward your entire deductible, so they can delay covering the rest of the services provided. I have had BC/BS, Aetna, Signa before. UHS is by far the worst company you can buy health insurance from.
UnitedHealthcare is the worst insurance I have ever had. They are denying my blood pressure medicine. I then sent an appeal for which they also denied. Telling me what medicine I should take as they obviously know more about my health than my physician. They do not mind signing the $600.00 a month check though. I am not asking for something frivolous. I am asking for a blood pressure medicine I have been on for 5 years. They are also denied a diabetic medicine a co-worker takes. I will have paid out of pocket $4420 for an insurance that has paid $0.00 in health benefits to me. At this point I am in no benefit from keeping this horrific excuse for a health insurance company. I do however have some recourse. I am an IT Director. I will make it my mission to post this same response on message boards, blogs, websites anywhere there is public viewing. You are a disgrace. I have the most Respect for United health care, they have exceeded my expectations in all my contacts with them. When they don't know the right answer they will go to great lengths to call my PCP. or someone in the internal to their co. Until I am satisfied. I have been dealing with two of My Parents (Higher Rated) Companies and they don't convince me that they Care one way or the other about them.
Useless company that will not pay after they referred me to the clinic. I called for two months now. Today I demanded to talk to someone in America and when I told her the issue she blamed my doctor. I told her that not only did they refer me to this urgent care clinic, the clinic said I was cover AND they are on United's website as a "in site" provider. Crooks! If I want to fight it I need to write a letter and send it to Salt Lake, UT. I wonder how much "bestcompany" was paid to rate them a 7.5. Look at Google and good luck finding any satisfied customers.
