Signing up for short term coverage with United HealthCare was difficult. Coverage was different than I expected--what I signed up for online was different than the paperwork I received outlining my benefits. Additionally, I signed up for a single month of care in between jobs, specifying a coverage end date in my application, but they continued to charge me. Once I realized this halfway into the next month, despite having other healthcare, I was not refunded. I didn't end up using the plan at all but had it put in place in between jobs. Very much a waste of time and money!

UHC is false advertising the Colorado Doctors Plan. The Colorado Doctors Plan is sold under the UnitedHealthCare umbrella. This plan only covers a fraction of the health coverage of the parent company. My previous PCP accepted UHC. The Colorado Doctors Plan is not included. Additionally, the 500+ doctors they claim are In-network are either retired or not accepting new patients even though they claim otherwise pm their website. Read the fine print and you’ll find out that Colorado Doctors Plan insurance is subpar.

Worst customer service I've ever received in my life. They canceled my insurance because a payment didn't go through. Notified me only by mail, which I never received. I had to provide multiple payment methods which I have never had any issues with. They make you wait 6 months before seeing a doctor and told me I would have to reapply for insurance and restart the waiting period.

I would give this company 0 stars if possible. When they make mistakes I get an apology call but they will not put the apology in writing and snail mail or email me the fact that they are very sorry for all the mistakes they made. I wanted an email or letter so that I would have written documentation regarding all the wasted time my dentist and I experienced, but the apology was a phone call. Probably from someone in another country who works for $1 per hour. Their mistakes caused over 10 hours of wasted time.

United health care the short-term disability, very hard to explain how horrible this is. they make your doctor send medical records multiple times, they will not process the information and claim they do not have the records, the only objective is not to pay or delay payment. if you call, you will get the runaround, and an uninformed person will call you back and make up any senseless excuse for not processing your claim. government should get involved in this type of corporate behavior

They hound you about sending their own nurse over to see you. They give you $150 to spend on groceries. My gripe? The same inadequate doctors I saw before this company are the only ones they cover. Can't get food from Walmart because those twits consistently do not have items as advertised. This is a money mining operation. They are not interested in care for the elderly, otherwise why give me grocery dollars impossible to redeem because their vendors don't have what they claim. I no longer see doctors. I no longer eat. These folks are charlatans.

Zero stars if I could. Was scheduled for a procedure and was called the night before to say they would not cover the in-hospital charges. The customer service reps barely speak English and sound like they are from Guatamala. No one can reach a supervisor and the reps claim that there are none. Each service rep will give you a different answer including, "you should read the manual that comes every year." Uggghh,, useless.

This is the insurance company that you should definitely stay away. There is honest issue from the customer service. They told me my pending calm issue is clear and solved when it was not at all . I had to call back again and return to the point zero of the endless loop, same questions each time, but different agents without any progress. All they will do is to put you as emergency and do nothing.

United which also owns OptumRx has a near monopoly on commercial insurance. It practically rations the dosage of medication and the number of physical therapy sessions that I can get (under the pretext of needing prior authorization). As a retired physician ( now on my wife’s plan) I can say that United treats physicians and patients far worse than Blue Cross Blue Shield does.

If I call since all the customer service is out of the Philippines when they can’t answer your question they hang up and never call back. I’m 74 and don’t have the energy to fight them. This is probably the worst company we’ve ever dealt with for insurance. They have awful coverage and we pay an extremely high bill monthly for coverage and end up with $1000s still from just one doctors visit. They will not assist in paying any other fees even when you go somewhere in network and check to make sure everything you are getting done is in network. We will never use them again. Definitely not refer anyone to United healthcare. Customer service is AWFUL. Coverage is not worth the amount you are paying.

OTC Healthy Benefits is a scam. We get $175/mo to buy supplements and healthy food. $ expires end of month, refills on the 1st. We were cheated out of Jan-Feb $ cuz 1st, no stores would take it. Finally HyVee said Yes, but card didn't work after shopping for an hour in a covid polluted place. CS wait times are >1 hr to talk to incompetent people. As of today, the card isn't in the system anymore. I gotta waste a few hours to get this sorted out only to have it not work again next week. This SUCKS!!!

Impossible to get correct information out them. As a member, I call in to get information on hearing, vision, changing primary care physician, etc., and very time it is an ordeal. Time after time I am given incorrect information, even from a supervisor!!! I have wasted hours because their employees that I deal with are incompetent. One supervisor even told that they have thousands of employees, and they don't always know what they are doing. Just gross incompetence. I am sick of dealing with them

They are one of the worst Insurances to get Prior Auth. They give run a round or state the member doesnt exist or put you on hold for 45 mins and if you say you will take survey with bad review they disconnect you and get a dial tone. Some act like they dont understand English and when you ask for a manager they then ask why and demand a reason and you tell them you want to speak to manager again they disconnect you. If its oncology prior auth then forget it.

for the past 3 years this company will not stop calling me because they have my phone number confused with one of their clients. have asked dozens of times in multiple ways for them to change their records, but they continue to call me at least several times a week. at one point, one of their representatives recommended that i just dont answer the calls!!! I am contemplating having my phone number changed because of this issue. Thankfully, i am not insured by this woefully inept company and good luck to all who are.

Be Forewarned on pre-approvals for surgical procedures. They go back on their approvals. They will give approval for a major surgery. But then not pay the anesthesiologist. United Healthcare then claims the anesthesiologist was not pre-approved. How do you approve a surgery without approving the anesthesiologist? Try cutting off the end of a femur without anesthesia.

I cannot believe that with all of the negative reviews I was still taken in by United. I went to the doctor they recommended for my free wellness check-up. While there, the doctor recommended a couple of shots without discussing the cost. But I had insurance, why should I worry. Four weeks later, I get a bill for $443 which United will not pay. I know we are always warned to watch out for these manipulators. But we should not have to when dealing with our health. No... the shots did not make me healthy. I was sick for a week.

DO NOT USE THIS INSURANCE CARRIER if you plan on doing anything more than regular Dr visits. Anything past routine Dr visits will not be honored/covered, despite what they say. I have a Dr saying I need a surgery for my health and the chat rep said it was covered but when it came to the Dr to verify coverage they have declined it twice. What am I paying for?!?!?

Horrible experience. They told me (in writing) a doctor was in network, I went and it turned out they gave me false information. They said I could apply for a review and gave a reference # making it sound like they would fix it, I have appealed it 3 times formally and sent several emails, get a different person every time. They are HORRIBLE!! They will not even fix their own mistakes. Our family will be taking whatever other options are available next year and letting HR know our experience.

This is the worst health insurance company. Don't expect them to pay much. If you switch your employees to UHC you are effectively giving them a demotion. If your company switches to UHC it's time to look for a different employer. Notice a lot of the high ratings for this company are in Utah so they are probably UHC employees trying to jack up their ratings.

I had a well woman appointment in November, and in January my husband's company switched providers. So, they didn't pay it. Period. End of discussion. The corporation made a decision, so I was left on the hook for $190. I appealed three times and finally HR Corporate got involved. They still refused. I think it's horrible that a large corporation would be so petty, and refuse to honor the terms of the contract. I'm sad and feel betrayed and incredulous that this is what United chose to do.

I thought it was a good insurance company until my son needed a surgery my Dr said they are the hardest to get approvals for surgery. I still thought we would be good but we now are going into the second summer of trying and fighting to get this surgery my son(16) needs before he turns 18 and his condition gets worse. It already causes him pain but United healthcare considers it a cosmetic surgery. When my son has a dent in his chest so big my fist fits in it that's not cosmetic it causes pain when breathing and doing activities. So I advice if you have a choice don't use united health care.

United will gladly take over $600 per month for a mediocre plan but first thing that happens when I actually need to go to the hospital is I get a letter from them saying they’re going to deny my claims because they think someone else should pay for my health care costs. I had Aetna for a long time and never had an issue. United is just a scam that’s been going long enough to have a call center.
