They seem to be denying a lot of claims lately. I am a cancer survivor and one of the side effects of chemotherapy has been a loss of balance. I slipped on the ice on my driveway and I fell on the sidewalk because I lost my balance. Optum said they would not pay for the claim for PT because it might be related to workman's comp or something like that. Then they would not pay for Botox injections for overactive bladder. That is the best thing for me because it does not interact with my cancer medications. Lastly they would not pay for the diagnostic mammograms that are recommended because I am at high risk for re-occurrence. What is the point of having UHC? The PT is relatively inexpensive, the Botox injections are about 1500 dollars for every 6 months and the diagnostic mammogram is about 600 dollars. I hate this company. I hate United Health Care. As soon as we can get off UHC we will.

Adding rudeness to incompetence makes for a new low in UHC customer care. I, and other relatives, will likely not renew with UHC next year as a consequence. Briefly, I was told by my provider of a $345 estimated copay for a test procedure. I called UHC customer service to understand how that number was arrived at (and whether I should change anything such as facility ..) The first “advocate” I got was totally unhelpful, left me on hold for 8 minutes with no communication and when returning with no useful information abruptly put me on “music on hold” as I was mid-sentence. That level of rudeness is simply unacceptable. I called again and requested to speak with a supervisor. The much more polite person contacted a supervisor and asked me to wait while in parallel trying to sort out my very simple request. 30 minutes later, she was still unable to provide useful information and no supervisor was still available. I asked for a supervisor call back. 24hrs later I am still waiting Good customer service is more than relabelling agents as “advocates”. It is Not leaving customers on hold for several minutes with no feedback Not hanging up on a customer by rudely putting them on hold Having agents (advocates they are not) be able to answer simple questions regarding the breakdown of a copay Having supervisors available when a customer requests speaking with them Having supervisors call back when requested to do so I realize UHC treat customer care as a cost center whose cost is to be optimized ... but I suggest they look at top line cost of poor customer service as customers choose other healthcare providers

A simple visit will cost you a fortune under almost any of their short term plans. They sell it to you as a great option but they pay NOTHING until the deductible. They misled me about the plan to get me to buy it, signed up for a decent plan as they constantly tried to up-sell me, and then have a single simple medical expense that is going to cost me $1000 minimum. And not even all of it goes to the deductible because of how they manipulate the numbers--and they only cover up until $2,000,000 on their very best programs so you're screwed if you have something chronic or have a real colossal catastrophe. Horrifically bad medical insurance and deceptive sales tactics, I regret doing this so much. It's basically only emergency catastrophe medical service, in which you're better off doing another health plan or trying one of the new things like sidecar. And if you ever had a problem, their customer service is downright incompetent. DO NOT GET UNITED SHORT TERM.

UHC is by far the worst customer experience I have ever had with ANY company. period. And it was at the expense of my wife's mental health. Incorrect information given multiple times, un-ethical practices with changing coverage mid-year, hours on the phone, and appeals unanswered after weeks of being submitted The only way i can understand that they are still in business is that they offer low prices because they absolutely do not care about customers and with health insurance laws we are helpless to make any changes outside of open enrollment. I am filing a formal ethics complaint with the my state.

Have UHC insurance through a company plan. Last year I received a knee injection for pain through Mayo Clinic. UHC paid. I received the same injection this year and UHC refused to pay for it and called it experimental. Like Mayo Clinic is providing experimental health care. I contacted the manufacturer and they were surprised that their product which has been used for years is not classified as 'experimental' by United Health Care. They are inconsistent. Their communication is terrible. You probably don't have a choice of company plans but be very careful with this insurance company or you will be screwed.

My parents were Illinois teachers and as such were forced by the TRS to take United Healthcare. United healthcare is horrible. They fail to return calls of hospital staff including doctors. They claim that papers haven’t been sent when four hospital social workers are handling my mothers paperwork. They claimed thy had Doctor review the claim but would not set an appointment on the phone when the head of cardiology at Edward hospital demanded a peer to peer review. They hire utterly incompetent people who are rude and literally disconnect calls again to hospital staff. They have denied my mother rehabilitation and did it in such a manner of intentionally delaying the review of the claim so she would not qualify. I now have three doctors and seven hospital staff that will testify in my law su8it against United Healthcare for their blatant disregard of their clients health needs. RUN away from this company. I am my mothers agent under powers of attorney and I as a lawyer have never dealt with such a barbaric company. They are disrespectful and money grubbing and have the worst reputation with five of the largest hospitals in Chicago.

UHC Administration Staff are poorly trained, inconsistent, inefficient with answering questions about claims and processing claims. There are too many hands in the processing of claims making it very confusing for UHC and for the customer. I have 34 claims of out of network reimbursements since beginning of May 2021 and only receive reimbursement for 6 claims out of the 34 early on then as months went on nothing. UHC gave me lame excuses like their machine that takes the forms came out blurry on their end, or some went through processing and others didn't because certain reps got confused and denied some, then they need treatment records, then a weeks go by and need more info on the treatment records and it goes on. Almost like they do this to see if people will give up and they don't have to reimburse. I have spent 30+ hours including long calls and emails to UHC. I kept good notes and sent everything to the Commissioner of Labor and spoke to HR. Finally I think they are expediting my claims. I received one check for 3 claims. Now I just need about 20 more to be reimbursed. We pay a lot for our healthcare and NO one should ever have to go through this!

Beware all that use UHC in 2022. They just put profits before people. They just increased the cost of life saving health care maintenance from $10 a visit to $50! That’s a 400% increase. My treatments kept me healthy physically and mentally. UHC does not care about me or you! They think by calling preventative treatments unnecessary that they will earn a few extra dollars. They won’t. This will drive people to the black market overseas. It will cost UHC more out of pocket as more and more people will get sick and UHC will pay higher bills for expensive unnecessary emergency expenses while they could have put people first and made a difference Plus people will move away from UHC next year. I know I’m going to. Bravo you greedy bastards! Way to stick it to us even more with inflation at all time high, gas prices up, food prices sky rocketing. Middle finger inserted here.

Would off given a no star if it were available. Made a payment every month yet they still said my account was behind! Called 5 different times , first three associates spoke such broken English unable to communicate with them! The next one spoke English, but was so lost, and her response to my questions made it seemed as if she had intellectual disability! Finally the fifth try I talked someone that could actually help . But when she would put in my member ID # she said it was showing paid yet my child's health ins was canceled due to no payment received on their end . Gave the confirmation number it was still unsuccessful. The next month paid on the 12th had to go to court on the 29th due to his mom complaining about the drop coverage. The same month after payment dental lapsed! Its sad when your corporate headquarters is in MInnetonka, MN yet hard to get some that answers the phone that speaks fluent English!

United healthcare is surely the worst insurance company that I have ever dealt with. Their internal system is messy, they keep declining claims for random reasons that they never notify customers. When calling up, the customer service lady was extremely rude, spending time arguing with the customers, instead of listening and trying to help. Emails sent to them always got ignored and you have to call up to go through the worst customer service again. Their service surely ruins your day. Even when the claims were approved, their cover is extremely minimal. I'm honestly impressed how such a terrible company still can be in the business!

I was interested in getting insurance through United. I had filled out a form online to get a quote. That was 2 days ago on a Friday. On Saturday I received a text from Monique. She started out very helpful and I was getting a good feeling that I might have found a good company. I asked her to email specifics about plans and providers. Nothing came through. She contacted me today via text and gave me pricing and a small bit of information. Again I had asked her to email specifics so I could go through all the information and do research. I text her her specific questions and I heard nothing. I spent an hour and a half reading reviews of this company and as soon as I text her that I was going to pass due to negative reviews my phone blew up with texts. She was obviously very angry, telling me to spend another hour half researching reviews of Blue Cross and any other insurance company. " No one leaves reviews online when things work according to plan" " If you shop based on reviews you will be uninsured forever" " But it is Sunday and I am trying to spend time with my family" I did not start a conversation with her today, she did with me!!! So glad that this is as far as I went with this company!!!!! Run as fast as you can the other way.

As a newly hired employee, I was trying to get clarity on the cost ranges for common medical procedures, and what is classified as “Preventive care” under the UHC PPO Plus plan compared to other UHC plans. After over 20 minutes on hold, the representative told me “there’s no way to know because the cost depends on the procedure code, the contract with the provider, and other plan-specific information”. I reiterated that I simply wanted a range, or estimate, to help make an informed decision on which plan is best for my lifestyle. The representative then suggested I google the costs for common medical procedures. How is that helpful?! As an insurance company, how do you not know the cost range for the most common medical procedures? I am an analyst, so I know that they have that information otherwise budgeting, forecasting and other strategic planning would be impossible. But rather than acting with integrity and providing transparency to their customers, UHC chooses to say “it just depends” leaving customers with unexpected exorbitant bills for routine appointments! If I had another choice for insurance providers, I would take it but I don’t, so unfortunately I’m stuck guessing if I can afford to go to the doctor. Perfect!

My husband & I have been with this company for over 20 years. In Jan 2021, I had an accident that dislocated my shoulder, ruptured my rotator cuff, caused a lesion to my humerus, and it stretched my brachial plexus nerve so that I now have paralysis from my elbow to fingertips of right arm. This is an extremely rare injury. I was able to get my shoulder completely fixed, but once I began trying to see a neurosurgeon (out-of-network, BUT no specialist except one 4 1/2 hours from my home), UHC began to delay & deny. If I didn't receive immediate care, I might face paralysis for the rest of my life!!! It took me over 3 months to see the specialist I needed to & I had to appeal their initial decision due to their mistakes!!! I did receive in-network coverage for consultation. The surgeon said I needed surgery immediately to hopefully restore some function in my lower right arm. After a month and a half of going round & round with UHC, they determined that every portion of the surgery was completely unnecessary!!! AND the surgery would be out-of-network!! I guess PARALYSIS is ok to live with the rest of your life!!! This company is incredibly unprofessional & immoral & the employees are unhelpful & lacking knowledge. They simply read from a script! UHC doesn't care a lick about the customers. They ONLY care about profit!! IF YOU ARE CONSIDERING INSURANCE WITH THIS COMPANY, RUN AWAY AS FAST AS YOU CAN!!!

*Absolutely Horrible* My employer switched providers from Aetna to United HealthCare in January. I work for a great company who has always taken amazing care of its employees. However, after the 27th time HR tried to convince us that we would have the same effective coverage, I grew suspicious. These clowns epitomize what is wrong with medicine today. They are the ones who are trying to keep patients from going to Emergency Rooms: https://www.nytimes.com/2021/06/10/health/united-health-insurance-emergency-care.html Here's what's prompting me to write this review: My wife woke up with extreme lower back pain 17 days ago. She's been going to physical therapy, and her primary care provider prescribed Oxycodone. Her pain specialist can and will treat her, but not without an MRI. We have been going back and forth with United Healthcare for 2 and a half weeks trying to get the MRI approved. They denied it. repeatedly. Her doctor had a "peer to peer" follow up conversation with United Healthcare, but they continue to deny coverage. I am going to pay for the MRI with my own cash because my wife's pain is important to me, and I want her to be able to get treatment. The amount I pay will not even count toward my out of pocket maximum because they didn't approve the procedure. So, we've wasted 17 days waiting for insurance to pay for a test to diagnose the problem causing the pain. I am now exploring secondary coverage beyond what me and my employer pay United Healthcare monthly so that we can have real coverage. United Healthcare is a red-tape machine engineered and deliberately constructed to PREVENT THE PAYMENT OF ANY CLAIMS. Their policy may look good on paper, but in practice they are ABSURD. They do not cover ANYTHING--they are interested in profit and profit only. Anything else they say is just marketing. Please save your money and pick a better company that actually cares about you and your family's health.

Great Benefit Emulators (See The Rainmaker novel/film). Mircromanaging my treatment plan and denying the prescribed meds because of the price alone. Despite the expertise of my specialists, after 3 years on the right combination of meds, Great Benefit, I mean UHC, wants me to try cheaper therapies that we have already tried without success. My health is clearly not their concern, just the cost of my health. Customer service reps: it's always a different dept that must handle some other detail, an endless wait to be transferred and an accidental disconnection during the transfer. Every time I call.

UnitedHealthCare is a disgrace and a joke in every sense. Forget whatever they self-describe themselves as, as a consumer of a good or service, I find them to be not only woefully incompetent, but they lie, have out of date data, and I cannot understand how this does not equate to FRAUD. If you charge for a service – to provide medical resources for allegedly QUALIFIED, IN-NETWORK entities – and the database they allegedly maintain for subscribers (paying customers) has companies in it that are closed, have moved, or otherwise don’t exist (primary doctors, orthopedists, radiology), how is that not FRAUD? I even asked a call center representative to ensure a place was open and taking patients. After being on-hold for quite a while, she came back on, gave me a phone number and an address, and said they were taking new customers. I drove to the address. The building was almost vacant and that provider was certainly no there. I called the number and could not get through the IVR to a person; it kept looping no matter what option I choose. Did the rep lie to me? I think so. This is not a one-off as it has been happening for many years, and when you need routine care, when you need emergency services, to spend hours and hours in frustration not being able to take care of yourself or a loved one… There is no accountability in UnitedHealthCare. Their service is essentially a sham, and I intend to take this as high as I can, especially to the Attorneys General office.

United Healthcare is the insurance I had, when I worked for First Credit Corporation in Boulder, CO. It was the only choice offered by the company; or I would not have bought it. My doctor put me on some medication and told me to have my blood tested every so often; because I was on that particular medication. United Healthcare refused to pay for the blood test; and I was billed over $2,000.00 (and had to pay it eventually). United Healthcare also gives money to organizations that go against my religious beliefs and moral values, such as Planned Parenthood. Not only is United Healthcare terrible insurance, it shows support for organizations that lack morals.

NO STARS!!! I have had multiple problems with United Healthcare. It's been a joke dealing with prescription, medical procedures and misleading information. The constant misleading information has cause so many delays in medical procedure, prescriptions and fighting for each claim to be covered. There is always some underlining reasoning of why it wasn't covered or when I call to verify it doesn't need a proir authorized in the end it does. United Healthcare claims they are about their customers, I recently for work purposes sat through a meeting of all the good stuff they offer and how they are here for us. This is not true! Each phone call I place I get different information each time. Nothing good to say

United Healthcare is a joke! They declined my 18 month old disabled child medical help at a pediatric medical daycare because "he's not having active seizures." A "daycare" that he could seriously benefit from to get to where he needs to be. They have all the resources, and equipment that we do not have to help him. They have PT, OT, Speech Therapy, as well as occupational therapy there, but no UHC doesn't care because he's not having active seizures. I can't wait to get him off this insurance, and onto a much better one. It's pretty sad as well that the "daycare" even said they would probably decline him since they're the most strict, and that i should get him onto better insurance anyways as UHC is just bad overall. Stay away from UHC

UHC is a company not to trusted! When my wife and I relocated across the country we immediately notified UHC of new address by telephone (which was recorded). Somehow that info was not acknowledged within the company which resulted in policy cancellation. Upon long involved discussions the issue was resolved (because of the recorded phonecall). Documentation apology was received and policy was reinstated. Now I receive a bill that Dec payment was not received from Social Security for $76.00. I forwarded documents from Soc.sec showing 12 payments made in 2019 UHC denies that and so I’m cheated by this huge company. I think they are liars and cheaters and I despise them for it. All began because of their INCOMPETENCE!!!

UHC is one of the biggest thieves in the insurance industry! They may pay on procedures and services but their payment amounts have not been consistent with their coverage rates. IF you have to process reimbursements for costs and services you paid for out of pocket FORGET ABOUT IT! They will NOT act in good faith; they concoct reasons for Denials; they try to get you lost in their procedural requirements; and, they do not even follow their own procedures! They abused disabled patients with emotional torment and financial frustration. Their customer service department is nothing short of a "BS" front line defense. And forget about an appeal or grievance hearing - they provide false testimony; false witnesses; and false test documents! They have ABUSED me for over FOUR YEARS so far, for covered services reimbursements! Call it incompetence or thievery, either way RUN in the opposite direction! Giving UHC one star for overall review rating is more than I would give but it was a minimum requirement to post this warning.

UHC states they have GAP exception if there isn't a doctor that specialized in your problem in your area. HUGE LIE!!! I have numerous conditions, booked 800 medical visits in 10 years, on disability due to one of the conditions, been to 125 doctors and I find this naturopath (none in network) that is a OB/GYN (which I don't need) and specializes in many areas including psychiatry, who has actually helped me as she thinks outside the box and truly wants to help you. She spends 1 hour to 2.5 hours with you for $200-$350 - what a deal, not to mention the results! But, UHC rather pay for 7 doctors ($450 ea) with no results. In other words, they rather pay $3150, instead of $200 and the patient can actually benefit. After all of the UHC runaround (appoximately 30 hours) can't help but feel that UHC really want their members to die.

My experience with United Healthcare has left me feeling scammed. I first bought a short-term health care plan for them last February. Once this plan ended in August I got a different plan through them. When I started a full-time job I no longer needed this insurance plan, and WOW! what a pain it was to cancel. I couldn’t log in to my online account and for some reason could not reset password. I’ve had issues with logging in to my account from day 1. So I had to cancel over the phone and it took days to get through to someone. It was awful. After that I was not happy, but at least it was cancelled... or so I thought. Four months later I look through my credit card statements and they had been charging me $20 every month. So I called to see what the deal was and they told me that it showed that I called and cancelled my policy in October, but I didn’t specifically say cancel all of my policy. Honestly, what part of I want to cancel my policy makes someone think I still want my policy? It is very shady and no way to get your money back. Be careful if you decide to go with this company that they don’t charge for no reason.

Over 1/3 of the reviews of this insurance are single stars. Nearly 50% are 3 stars or fewer. Does any one at UHC care about these reviews? Your organization is a disgrace and you customer "service" a total failure. The left hand does not know what the right is doing, though I suspect that it is a tactic to stall the process and discourage callers/patients. The resources invested in trying not to renew prescriptions or issue prior authorizations is staggering, and we are paying for it. This pitiful insurance is just one window into the overall debacle represented by the American health delivery system. What will it take to bring some order in it?

Absolutely awful. I have breast cancer & will be having a double mastectomy. I have just been advised that uhc doesn’t cover my prosthetic breasts or bras I will need. Every time I see my oncologist I have to pay a $70 copay & there are medications I needed while I was going through chemo to help With nausea that they declined to cover saying it wasn’t needed. This company is a bunch of crooks! Now I have to go through an appeal process to see if I can get prosthetic breasts!!! If I could give 0 stars I would. It’s disgusting how much I pay in premiums to only get screwed over. Thank uhc!!!

I recently visited Peachtree Immediate Care (an in network provider) in Fayetteville Georgia after being hit in the face during a sporting activity. It was a Sunday so my Primary Care Physicians office was closed, I figured I would go to the bottom of the priority list at the ER in addition to it being more expensive, and did not want to risk needing to have tissue debrided if I waited until Monday. I ended up needing 5 stitches, six weeks later I get a bill in the mail from Peachtree Immediate Care for $493. United Healthcare only covered a portion of the office visit and did not cover any of the cost of the stitches whatsoever. I called United Healthcare to appeal the claim and was informed that their appeals department does not have a phone number. Instead I was directed to a P.O. Box in Utah, after explaining that the bill was due in 2 days, I was finally provided with a fax number. Really? An appeals department for a major insurance company does not have a phone number? Who still owns a fax machine? At the end of the conversation, my takeaway was, sorry sir, we have paid what we are going to pay, you need to take the remainder up with Peachtree Immediate Care. Otherwise, you can mail your appeal into a black hole and maybe someone will get back to you. This is absolutely ridiculous, and makes me question why I am spending hundreds of dollars a month on health insurance when I'm going to get a $493 bill for 5 stitches anyway. Do better for the consumer United Healthcare!

I may as well not have insurance. They argue if I need a prescription. Just a back pain med, anti inflammatory. But apparently they thought I was undeserved and should have the med they wanted (one that earlier gave e hives, allergic reaction) so amid intense back pain, I had to argue for another 2 weeks. Then just a yearly exam, nope you shoudnt get a cholesterol screening, never figured why no answers there now can't get Physical Therapy, just not ready to say yes or no too much paperwork? I am a runner and not walking, no help from United without constant moaning and phoning dumping them !! We have choices! Make another one !!

You should budget for a "Medical billing advocate" if you use UHC and have any actual need for your medical insurance beyond just prescriptions and routine doctor visits. The service agents are as incompetent as possible. They appear to read from as script that is to "assure you their processing of claims" is correct. I have dealt with many different agents from UHC who seem to not only be following the same script, but trying to find inventive ways of assuring you their processing is correct. In one case I used their online portal to dispute a double charge for the same service. The agent replied assuring me their processing was correct and I should pay the amount. So then I called in and argued with this agent on the phone for 48 minutes who was giving me all of the reasons it must have said in her handbook as to why the claim was correct. After 48 minutes, I finally was able to get through to her. She called the provider, found that they had been double billed, payed twice on the bill, and had mistakenly expected me to pay twice on the same bill also. However, months later, the patient portal site still shows the original claims. Today I get to speak to these morons for another hour. Another time I was asking for an explanation of their processing of a medical bill that 10 months after the date of service and it had been fully paid, they decided to reprocess it with some suspect codes such as urgent care for outpatient surgery. On the third iteration, the agent copied and pasted some text from the claim that listed the medicines that were used in outpatient surgery as to why this cost so much and it had a line item of about $3,000. The line item from the hospital had charges for these medicines being about $250. Of course I provided this evidence. The next round was a different set of reasons why the billing was correct and they could not provide me the actual negotiated rates that would be required to understand the bill. UHC agents are either untrained and don't understand their job, are not given any more information than the patient portal and just follow a scripts assuring the customer everything is right, or are knowingly attempting to get the customer off of the phone and not resolve any issues. This is not the insurance for you if you need insurance.

I am a former CEO Of a relatively small financial services organization. After retiring in March of this year (2019) and joining UHC, I have literally spent more than 100 hours trying to correct errors, mistakes, and trying to get them to follow up. While the phone reps are very nice, they are basically clueless; uninformed, unknowledgeable, and unempowered. The company has multiple databases, reps do not have access to all history. Over 5 times I called and was promised call backs which never came. I finally looked up the email addresses of top executives and communicated with them directly Only then did I get follow up and resolution to their major errors. But the issues and problems continued. Different information was received from various reps. In my entire life I have never been subject to such incompetence. Astounding that they remain in business. Needless to say I am leaving them ...in favor of USAA, who handles their own claims and had the highest client service rating in the financial services industry. Yes they are endorsed by AARP, but I’m guessing that is because AARP gets paid by UHC.

Do not trust this United Healthcare. They do not care if we suffer. They do not care if we are in pain. They only care if you pay them. I get migraines sadly a lot. The Rizatriptan pills helps so much that I don't loose work or suffer. Up until this year I could only get 12 pills a month. I could cope with that. But now I can only get 4. Yeah just 4. So suffer very much and be in pain? They have made it very clear that they could care less,.... And oh I have to pay them to do this to me. They said to contact my doctor to get him to give me more. That makes no sense at all. !2 pills a month is not many, not many at all. So why force the doctor to add more to the 4 limit. They probably will only allow him to give me 5 pills but never 12. BUT my doctor contacted them to increase my subscription. UnitedHealthCare said "NO". Obviously cruel. Plus I strongly strongly suspect that the 4 or 5 pills will cost what the 12 before did, about 150. Do not trust them, they could care less about us. They really only care about us paying them to be mean to us. Wish there were negative stars available. If my migraines take over my life. I may decide that it's time for pain to end. Thanks United Hate Care ............. United HeathCare. You've made life so bad and you probably laugh all the time. BUT you can trust Kiwi Drugs. They are in New Zealand and yes it takes a bit of time to ship the prescription BUT you can get what you need and not pay a ton of money as United healthcare wants.

I would avoid this insurance like the plaque. We purchased a family plan, and the first time my wife had to use it for a one night stay in the hospital for heat related symptoms, UHC cancelled her. The customer service is argumentative, and it takes a LONG time to get through all the animated dialing system when you call them, and then you sit on hold "HOURS". A one night stay at the hospital with tests cost $20,000.00! We are still fighting with customer service to provide information on what they will cover. We were told it was an 80/20 coverage policy however, to date we have paid over 50% of this one claim. Health insurance is a mess in this country, (thank you ACA), and this company will punish you for using their coverage. Now since the word heat "STROKE" has been initiated, my wife will find it very hard to get insurance now that she has a "pre-existing" condition. A terrible, terrible experience, and I fear that many will die because they are afraid to use these kind of policies for their health needs. If you use UHC, be prepared to suffer the consequences if you use it for anything other than doctors visits and wellness visits. Bad, bad experience, and a bad uncaring company.

I have had to go back and forth for a couple years now with UHC over their prior authorization. First it is approved so I go to the pharmacy, nope it won't go through so I call why won't it go through. UHC says your doctor office messed up the PA so I call the Dr office. Then they send letters that say it is approved, great right? It would be if they had the right med and milligrams! This goes on for a month at a time all the time I am without my medication. I have gone so long I just went and paid for my script because I could not longer go without my meds. Health Care if should say United health because there is no care at United Healthcare!

United Healthcare is the worst insurance company in the world. It does not care member's health, and only care how to save money. Due to changing job, United Healthcare became my provider this year. Since then, I had been in trouble with almost every things. Firstly, doctors say that United Healthcare is very difficulty to deal with, and so they don't like to accept new patients with United Healthcare as a provider. Secondly almost everything need prior approval, and it take you a very long time to wait for this process. I had taken a medication for treating HBV for over two years, and my previous insurance covered it without any problem, but United healthcare denied the claim for this medication, and requested my doctor to replace it with a cheaper one, which made me have no medication to take for over a month. I have to change my job again because I want to find an employer providing healthcare with a company other than United Healthcare.

My husband has been severely discriminated against by this company because he is and immigrant. His insurance was cancelled because as they claim “there was a change in his immigration status”. He has been a permanent resident for five years and has a green card that expires in another five. Not to mention his citizenship is being awarded this year. While a representative and a supervisor were both repeatedly asked for proof of this and evidence of this so called change, hey would not provide it. I will be filing a formal complaint with the BBB and a discrimination suit against United Healthcare. I am appalled that an American corporation that provides health insurance can engage in blatant discrimination against immigrants.

The benefits of Silver Sneakers helps so many seniors stay healthy, and now by cutting the coverage, seniors, will slowly go downhill. I am dumping AARP and United healthcare and going with Humana. Same coverage similar price and they pay for the full silver sneakers membership. I sure hope this move backfires on you AARP. !

I’ve just enrolled in United Health Care. The bottom line here is, they don’t care about my health at all. They only care about how much money they are saving the company. I’m allergic to some of the cheaper generics for diabetic medication that they only approve. They only want to approve the cheaper brands. But at the same time, they approve some name brands that have world wide class action suits. It takes their office forever to approve prior authorization and it always end up in a denial. My doctor and my pharmacist are having a difficult time getting anyone to cooperate. For this past week alone, I’ve gone through 4 different prescriptions that are listed on their drug list coverage, to be only denied and suggested a cheaper brand. Also, they go the cheap route by not given you the requested doctor prescribed dosage only approve the lower dosage to save them money. Thus, putting my health at risk. They don’t care about if I need life saving medications nor care that I am at the brink of becoming critically crippled by diabetes. They should be exposed for their heartless and I unethical tactics. They give my pharmacist and doctor the runaround hoping they just give up and try the cheaper brands they will only pay for. This insurance company doesn’t give one flip about your health. They care only for their increase in profits and stakeholders than their consumers.

Pharmaceutical & Preauthorization’s Takes your Premiums & Kick you right in the Berries. I have never had so much frustration from an insurance company trying to get my medications, the preauthorization process which has already taken 4 weeks because they continually request one more thing from the doctors over & over. Then after you have the preauthorization’s & go to fill your medications they deny the preauthorization number that they just issued you & tell you that they need to reevaluate the previous authorizations as a whole & your doctor now needs to make a direct call & provide the same information in order for United to issue a new preauthorization for the already preauthorized medications; have I lost you yet? Ya me too, as well as my Doctor being frustrated with United (they are now evaluating whether to accept new patents covered through United due to this garbage), my Pharmacy has had it with them, all have said they have never had so much problem with an insurance company. We are now going on two months in this review process for medications that I have been on for 10 years, something is wrong with their system. I don’t have enemies but you know how they say “I would not wish them on my worst enemy” I would have to wish them on themselves. I was once on Medicaid & in my humble option these guys are 10 times worse, I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THEM & would advise you to RUN THE OTHER WAY!!! JR Giles

AVOID IT COMPLETELY. This was my first time getting healthcare alone and being off of my parent's or employers plan. I was previously with Blue Cross Blue Shield where they broke down everything for me and really educated me on my benefits. I took that information when I changed jobs to United and was told I was getting the equivalent of what I previously had. My biggest concern that I said up front was that I wanted my prescriptions covered and they told me yes that's what you're getting . WRONG. I did my best reading through my contract before signing, but I'm in my early 20's and it was a bit confusing as all insurance is. I asked the representative questions about it and she transferred me to someone who could barely answer my questions. No one seemed educated on what was being provided and assured me on each question of what I was signing up for. I sign up and then weeks later go to the pharmacy where all of a sudden 3 month of my prescription is $500. I give them my insurance card which doesn't have a BIN or GROUP number so I called United. Their automated system provided this info so I go back to the pharmacist and this info doesn't work and I don't have an authorization number. I call again to speak to a rep and she gives me an entirely different BIN and GROUP with authorization number and I asked her why is this info different than the automation and she couldn't give me an answer. I go to the pharmacist with this new info and it is info for a Discount Card, not a Pharmacy Card. I'm livid. I've been at the pharmacy for 2 hours now. I call back again to figure this out and the rep tells me I didn't sign up for a Pharmacy card in which I assure her I did and the broker told me that is what I was getting. I also ask AGAIN why does the automated system provide a different GROUP and BIN number than the Discount Card anyways and she can't give me an answer and told me if I didn't like it I can cancel my plan. I walked away with only one month of my prescription instead of 3 and they had a little discount for me so it was $93. I attempted a reimbursement since they mislead me and gave me false information just for the difference because I ended up finding a coupon code after the fact so I can receive my prescription for $37 a month, reminder my previous insurance covered the cost entirely. The representative was unapologetic, rude and still wouldn't address the misleading broker or the conflicting automation I receive every time I call. United isn't interested in helping or educating their customers. They won't address any wrong doing, won't give answers or provide necessary information to understand what I have. Luckily I'm getting married soon so I can cancel altogether and go back to Blue Cross.

United Healthcare (UHC) has unfortunately been my provider through work for 3 years. I suffer from chronic dry eye and have been on a prescription for 3 years. This year they decided to increase the copay astronomically and have denied my appeal for coverage twice. I have called multiple times to find out if there is anything I can do and was told this time by Michelle, a supervisor, to Google it. Needless to say, I will have to go to an India-based pharmacy to fill this prescription as UHC refuses to fill it at a price that any reasonable person could afford. It is eyedrops for Gods sake!!!!!!! UHC is filled with CROOKS and is only in it for money. I really hope I don't get really sick because my family and I would be screwed. DO NOT USE UHC! TERRIBLE COVERAGE, TERRIBLE SERVICE, TERRIBLE ORGANIZATION!!!!!!!!!

United Healthcare is the worst insurance I have ever come across they refuse to pay claims because the Scott & White Health Centers which are scattered all over in stand-alone buildings because those bills say outpatient Scott & White outpatient hospital because it has Hospital on there they refuse to pay it on a deductible or where tests are covered 100% we had a test that was supposed to be covered 100% and because it said outpatient hospital United Healthcare refuses to cover it so it's going to cost us $900 not all only that but with doctor's visits were the copay is 35 or $50 because where the bill comes from says Baylor Scott & White outpatient hospital they refuse to pay them I give United Healthcare zero Stars absolutely the worst Insurance you can buy. This review made me give United Healthcare one star it wouldn't let me give it a zero.

Automatically OPT into this Healthcare through my employer East Side Medical Center, Snellville, Ga. Unaware I was even paying for the healthcare, because I never checked my wage statement. My fault, for not having a need for the money and not checking. After 8 months I heard of other employee's being Opt into benefits they didn't want and decided to check my statement to only find out I was paying for healthcare. Thought It would be a simple fix, but apparently this company enjoys robbing me without a gun. Company reviewed my case and stated you can only Opt out during the open/close season. I'm a retired military veteran with disabilities and I've had healthcare since I was 18, but that not good enough. If unable to find legal help I will have paid this company close to $2800 before I can Opt out. Only in America can you serve your country and still get treated like this way. Never will I or anyone and my immediately family be affiliated with this company. -No stars from me-

DO NOT ENROLL IN UHC IF YOU LIVE IN MA AND ARE PLANNING TO HAVE KIDS. They are a total scam. They claim to provide breastfeeding support (Lactation consultation) to newborns but do not have anyone licensed within 50 miles of Boston. Imagine having to drive to CT to get Lactation support when you are not in a good physical health. We spoke to a ton of customer service reps at UHC about getting Lactation help, but no one there seems to care or put you on hold for few hours and then later lie about the status of your case. They do not follow up with your requests either. It’s been over 5 days and a few hours on phone everyday, but our issue hasn’t been resolved. Please choose other service provider if you care about your baby’s health.

After receiving LTD for about a year, I just received a letter that they wanted almost all of the money they paid me returned. $27650.00! When I was injured at work, I received STD for about 6 months and when that ran out and I could no longer work at any light-duty posts at work, I was forced to choose between retiring early or being terminated and losing my health insurance benefits. I chose to retire early. I could still survive but it would be tight. I got a call from UHC Specialty Benefits who handled the STD claim. She was asking me about LTD and I told her that I just put in my retirement papers so, thinking that was going to be the end of our conversation, she went on to tell me that I could still collect my pension and receive LTD up to 100% of my Pre-Disability salary. I said, "Sign me up!". Big mistake. After a year I got a letter stating that they had made an error and my pension offset my LTD payments and they overpaid me over $27,000. That was roughly 80% of what they actually paid me. So now that I had already spent the money, I had to borrow from family and they have made my life very difficult. I have no legal recourse since I guess it is in the policy that they can do this. They are the most dishonest,deceitful,incompetent boobs I have ever dealt with.

Quite Easily the worst healthcare provider I've had to deal with. Every other site also has hundreds of reviews that would agree with me, this is the only site I've found to have positive reviews which is weird to me. To start this, I have an HMO plan. So i expect to jump through a few hoops to get coverage on what i need. This being said, this has been the most backwards healthcare I've experienced. Expect to call their customer service department every other day to make sure your procedure approval isn't dropped or on hold. I was told they have received my lab results and the approval process is pending and it will take 10 days to process only to call back the next week and learn that those lab results are not in their system and that they have not received them at all. The nurses from my healthcare provider have said they've never had any other issues with this procedure from any other insurance provider. This is the third terrible experience I've had with them in a few short months. I cannot put any more emphasis on how mismanaged and unorganized United Healthcare is. I will be moving to my wife's insurance no matter how expensive it is.

UnitedHealthcare Health Insurance review Attention Women With Breast Cancer...UHC is NOT behind women with Breast Cancer and will fight you every step of the way NOT to pay when you have exhausted every provider they insist you see. I thought our company had excellent coverage and pay a very high price for it for each of us and now to only learn when it comes down to pay for services they will run the other way...Even our insurance broker is at a loss for words as to how I have been treated with my breast cancer...To the point where we have had to file a formal complaint with the Virginia Bureau of Insurance and the Virginia Department of Health!!! UHC will continue to put you through more hardship then just the pain of your cancer and treatments you must go through!!! I am fighting with every ounce of energy and life I have left in me for my care and it is falling on deaf ears. UHC only cares about their bottom line and not patient care!!! Additionally, don't even bother with their cancer support program...useless and a total waste of time!!!

Do NOT under any circumstances sign up with United Healthcare. First of all they have hardly any providers in network and you are forced to pay $75 instead of the $45 in network price. If you want to get an approval to go to an out of network as if they’re in network it takes a minimum of an hour and a half on the phone to get that approval. Then when your provider calls to get the approval they say they have no record of it. This happens over and over. They recommend Drs. as being in network and then you get an expensive bill a few months later because the Dr. actually isn’t in network. They tell Drs. to bill you for copays you’ve already paid. They don’t pay for services they’re supposed to pay and you have to speak to person after person and each one tells you something different. As you can probably tell dealing with UnitedHealthcare’s mistakes becomes practically a full time job. They are an absolute nightmare. Stay away!

THE ABSOLUTE WORST, DO NOT BUY THEIR BAD INSURANCE. First, super expensive premiums. Second, denied payment of medically necessary tests (MRI) that were ordered by Dr. - this was NOT an elective test. Third, they have an arbitrary and mysterious system for applying your out of pocket cost to the deductible, which is never explained. Out of $3,000 I had to pay out of pocket, only $500 was "allowed" and applied to my 3,000 deductible. This is really the worst thing since it makes this company a fraud, actually scamming us. Under their scam system, no one will ever reach their deductible or out of pocket maximum, and they will NEVER pay your health costs. Which is what is happening to me. We have been bleeding money since we've been on United Healthcare, and we can't wait to get rid of them. Plus customer service is some call center in the Philipines and you can never get a manager or anyone who is senior on the phone. Get the picture? Horrible.

Per the ACA every expecting mother is able to get a breast pump covered by insurance. With my plan I am able to pick any pump I want and be reimbursed. Almost 4 months later and they are still having me the run around. First they didn't like the way Walmart had "med pump" on the receipt and wanted a letter from Walmart (which Walmart said they aren't allowed to provide), then they wanted a picture of the product with the upc, then they needed a tax ID number for Walmart (guess they couldn't figure out how to Google themselves), then they told me they needed more information from me but couldn't tell me what info they needed and now, after THEY recommended I buy it at Walmart , they are saying they won't pay for it because I had to buy it from a medical supply company, not Walmart. No one seems to know what they are doing there. If you have a choice, go with another insurance company.

HORRIBLE SUPERVISOR BECKY K 154 My son has medicaid and he had an appointment to bee seen by his dentist. We don't have dentists nearby that accept Medicaid so I had to schedule transportation services, considering that I'm disabled myself and that the facility where we had to go is an hour away. So I did, I called Medicaid and they booked the service for the right day. However, they called me back the next day to tel me that I had to book it through United Health Care and that's when my nightmare started. So I called United and they told me that because it was not a medical emergency, they couldn't book the trip, that it was too late. I explained to Dotty H and Becky K that the delay was because I was not given the right information and that I couldn't reschedule the appointment for a near date, considering that they take forever to schedule an appointment for Medicaid patients. I also explained to them that even when it's not a life threatening event, my son has a real problem with his teeth and that he also had already a cavity but they just didn't care at all. I'm changing my son out of United Health Care because they are actually United We Don't Care. All their customer service people are trained to not give their names and their service is all but caring. Very horrible and frustrating experience. That's when you see a different treatment when you're a disabled person who sadly depends on Medicaid.
