While Freedom has secured some structured settlements, I do not believe that those who are entrusted with making the settlement arrangements are completely knowledgeable or versed in the law regarding collections and credit reporting. On a personal level, an account which has been settled, is still showing as late and unpaid on my credit report. When reaching a settlement, it is very important that those who are negotiating have a clear and complete understanding of current laws as they apply to debt settlement and credit reporting. I do not believe that those negotiating the settlements are making the correct statements to creditors regarding credit reporting and this is a grave concern of mine.

Being deep in to the program now I will finish it out and keep hoping for the best but I can say that I recommend Freedom Debt Relief or that a thorough great job is being done. Freedom Debt Relief's A plus BBB rating should definitely be lowered! I feel the concept of the program is good and as there are other companies that do it too, I would suggest people look into those other companies and avoid Freedom when pursuing this course of action with their accounts. There is no central database where all the reps one speaks to are on the same page and can/ do provide the same information. One is not provided with a dedicated go to rep for the course of their program and has to speak with random representatives in random cities every time an inquiry needs to be made or a document provided. This I have lived first hand and it is very inefficient. Further there is no proper, complete, written , filed ,recorded documentation kept of negotiations in progress and this is HORRENDOUS!!! We are not dealing with grocery store purchases here, which by the way are recorded if one is a member of supermarket program and even they can provide document of what has been bought and sold but NOT at Freedom. Unfortunately this has definitely been a live and learn, school of hard knocks education so I am here to save others from the awful I have experienced and hope they too do not have to learn the hard way. I would really give only one star but I find that people ignore one star reviews as being too harsh.

I was told that all creditors will be contacted, but one was not. They filed a lawsuit and now I am paying $125 a month more. This is now more than I was paying before FRD got involved. I am retired and have filed for disability. At present I am unemployed because I can't work. The extra money per month is really hurting me, I have to choose between medicine and paying my increased payment each month.

I have mixed emotions about FDR. They have helped in a tight spot, yet, have also given me misinformation leading to voided settlements. My monthly payments are so high I cannot live and I am given problems when I try to lower them. They also have a hard time giving you anything in writing or letting you talk to a supervisor. I've paid them over $27000 and the majority of that money has gone to their fees.

We the clients need to be more informed on the negotiation process Decisions are being made for us without getting further input from us Every case is different and personal financial circumstances are always changing Some negotiations aren’t being made due to not enough funds in my account If they would reach out to me I could make an effort to acquire more money through my family so that the negotiations will be made and my creditors would begin to get paid off sooner. No negotiations means more accrued penalties in the form of late fees and interest This in turn makes my balances go higher and when there is a negotiation on the table you are also negotiating the extra penalties owed and basically I’m not getting that much of a mark down and not saving as much Need to stop the bleeding so that the client can truly get a good deal out of the negotiations
