The Good

  • Rates
  • Services
  • Payment options
  • Discounts

It is not uncommon for drivers with poor driving history to be charged exceptionally high rates for auto insurance or to be denied by a provider entirely. However, with Direct Auto, they make low rates a possibility for all drivers. With low monthly payments, low down payments, no checking account or credit card needed, and multiple discounts available, low rates are attainable.

Through Direct Auto, there are a number of extra features and services that customers can take advantage of. These premium services apply to almost all coverages and plans (with some exceptions). Services include: text to pay, online bill pay, mobile proof of insurance, term life insurance, 24/7 roadside assistance, emergency protection plans, payment kiosks, DirectDrive app, toll-free access to friendly agents by phone, and convenient neighborhood locations.

Payment Options

The team at Direct Auto understands that everyone comes from different financial backgrounds and may have varying preferences. Direct Auto does not require a one-size-fits-all approach to payment, so they offer flexible payment schedules. Customers will be able to choose a payment date that fits their personal financial schedule. This allows clients to plan payment schedules according to a specific budget/spending ability. Then, customers get to decide how they want to pay whether that is online, in person, over the phone, by text, or through another platform.

With Direct Auto and Life Insurance, there are a number of ways to make insurance more affordable. Not only can drivers get a low rate, but there are possible discounts that may apply upon eligibility requirements being met. For driver there are four discounts include: safe driver, military, good student, and senior citizen discount. For the actual vehicle there are: multi-car and mileage discounts, On behalf of the policy, there are a number of discounts include: prior coverage, renewal, homeowner, affinity, multi-product, and the welcome back discount.

The Bad

  • Availability
  • No online file claim service

Currently, Direct Auto and Life Insurance only operates in the southeast. That means those who do not live in this region will not be able to take advantage of the Direct Auto coverages. States that Direct Auto can be found in include: Texas, Arkansas, Missouri, Mississippi, Alabama, Florida, South Carolina, North Carolina, Virginia, and Tennessee.

No Online File Claim Service

There is a transition auto insurance providers have made over the last few years. Following an accident, customers can immediately file a claim online and then track the progress of that same claim. This speeds up the process and reduces communication errors. However, at this time, Direct Auto does not provide this feature to their clients.

The Bottom Line

With Direct Auto, customers will be able to find the coverage they need for a price they can afford. Additional savings are also available and a poor driving record does not disqualify drivers from receiving coverage. For those who live in the southeast and reside in one of the states serviced, Direct Auto would be an excellent option to look into before making any final decisions on an auto insurance policy.
