I have used USAA for many years. I have not had to use it much, but once my car was damaged due to a hurricane and I was still evacuated in another state. A representative was able to go in person to check on my car and evaluate any damages.

We were with USAA for many, many years due to my husbands service. Then in one year they raised our rates hundreds. We asked what the change was with no claims and they said our area drove the price. Our loyalty meant nothing.

About 30 years ago I had a car wreck which wasn't my fault. Other people hadn't insurance, and state farm stepped in and settled withe lawsuit and took care my hospital bills and even granted money so I was able to buy a new car.

My wife totaled her car and the process we had to go through was a huge hassle. no one knew what was going on at our local agent and we are still out money for damages to cargo that was in the vehicle. Ive had other companies and all I did was make one phone call and everything was taken care of. with state farm it was like we had to hold their hand through each step and make sure they followed through.

USAA and State Farm offer personal and rideshare car insurance. However, if you're looking for classic car or commercial auto insurance, you'll want to consider State Farm. USAA does not offer this kind of insurance.
Many of the discounts offered by USAA and State Farm are similar. However, there are a few differences. USAA focuses its services on military members, veterans, and their families, so it offers some unique discounts. These include discounts for storing your car on base and for your length of USAA membership.
State Farm stands out with its Drive Safe & Save™ program. Through this program, your driving will be monitored. After a set period, you'll receive a personalized rate based on your driving habits. This program can help you save and become a better driver.
Another important distinction between these two insurers is that USAA requires membership before being able to purchase its insurance products or use its financial services. USAA membership is limited to military members, veterans, and their families.
Unlike USAA, State Farm does not require membership. Anyone can apply for an insurance policy from State Farm.
It's hard to go wrong when choosing between USAA and State Farm. If you're part of the military, you may benefit more from USAA's discounts and specialized services. However, State Farm is also worth exploring further, particularly if you're interested in personalized rates or insuring a classic car.
