Actually the customer representative tricked us into signing with them. First they asked me to sign just to authorize them to make an assessment of the roof to see if we qualified, not knowing that it was and actual contract agreement (I found that out months later). Then I got an alert that my credit was being checked by Vivint with no authorization. The sales representative had an excuse or was very good at making you believe something else. Then I got a call that they were ready to come out to install the solar and I said, I'm still not sure if I'm going to sign with you. The phone representative proceeded to tell, that's weird I have a form signed by you. I then contact the sales rep that was over my house and he stated that it was a misunderstanding. Then he kept on showing up at my house and insisted on how great Vivint is and how much money I was going to save and all the great ratings they have. March was when I first met him and I finally decided in July that I was kinda interested. He set up the installation and I was a little surprised because he had not brought me a contract for me or my husband to sign. Then I had some issue. I was getting messages attention to a different person that was no me or my husband so I contacted customer service to find out why they didn't have my name correctly. While talking to the rep she told me about my contract and that the person's name was on that contract with my name. I asked her what contract? I still have not signed anything. So I proceeded to ask her to mail me a hard copy and she also send it to me via email. When I received the contract, it was dated for March 30th, with my name and not my husband's name (forged signature). If you compare the sales rep signature and the forged signature you see the similarities in the handwriting. Somehow he got my husband's name wrong. I did not agree until July and my contract had March. I contacted the sales rep and told him how I figured out what he did and I contacted a supervisor and sent all the text messages going back and forth on how I thought that he done something without my knowlegde going back to March and how I did not agree to install and how he tricked me and forged the signature. The supposedly supervisor said that he would look into it and that he would have someone contact me right away and pretty much he ignored it even with all the proof I had and the contract does not lie. So yes, make sure you don't sign anything in advance or if you do don't sign it on the iPad they carry because you do not know what else they are filling out for you. The BBB needs to know what's going on with this company. And you don't save anything because my the end of the 20 years you will be paying more than double of what you start with. Each year it increases and even though like it doesn't look like a lot, it really is as the years go by. Like my husband said, when they say it's free, it's really not and it will cost you a lot more in the long run. SDG&E need to get their act together or Solar needs to actually be free or a set price.

I have had Vivint Solar for the past 7 months. After receiving by first billing statement I became very alarmed and knew something wasn’t right. I contacted Vivint Solar, my first attempt was to my sales person (Clint W) with no response. I then placed one of many calls to their corporate office to get to the bottom of my extremely high billing. I have spent hours on the phone over the past several months trying to find a resolution to this matter with no support, concern or follow through from Vivint Solar. Meanwhile the crazy high bills just keep coming. After doing a lot of research and spending over an hour on the phone with a PG&E Solar Support employee I found the issue. I was informed that the permit that was sent to PG&E by Vivint Solar stated that my kWh usage was 13,000 when in fact it was only 9,700. Vivint Solar then provide me with 39 panels to support 16,000 kWh. Being that Vivint charges you based on how much energy that is being generated by your panels not by the amount of energy you are using, 16,000 kWh is way over producing for the size of my home and my kWh needs. I have been over billed and talked in circles for the past 7 months. Not to mention that installation process took over 8 month and was extremely unprofessional and frustrating. My sales person also promised me $250.00 for a referral I made that was never paid. I am now considering this to be a fraud situation and will be seeking legal representation. Thank you, Phyllis "Tena" Runyon

I, like many other people on this message board, was told by my sales representative that the panels could be removed, stored, and put back up for $500 if I remodeled my house. I told my salesperson I would be remodeling the house in the very near future and I was told this was no problem at all. When I called to have them taken down I was told it would cost $1,800. When I explained that I had agreed to a $500 price I was told I would get a call back in a week with a resolution. I did not get a call back and for almost two months now I have been calling them and been lied to over and over again. They say they have not been able to contact my salesperson (what kind of company can't contact their own sales person? ). My complaints have been elevated to "Team Leaders" (I guess these are the senior liars in their customer service), to "Corporate" (don't think it really exists because I can't speak with "Corporate" and they don't call me), and been offered the chance to speak with "Human Resources" which I was then told is just an answering machine that would not be responded to. After I asked to be transferred to the "Human Resources Answering Machine" the "Team Leader" refused. So what was the point of telling me about "Human Resources" if I cannot speak with them or are you trying to hide that you are not doing your job? The savings on my electric bill are laughable after their fees so I can't find a single reason anyone should do business with this company. Nearly two months later the panels are still on my roof holding up construction and costing me money. There is nothing they won't say to get your money. Please don't be suckered in by this scam of a company.

We had a Vivint Solar Sales Rep walking door to door on a Thursday 9/20/18 in the city San Bernardino, Calif. He was very informative on today's costs of home electric energy consumption and of methods to reduce those costs. He told my wife and I that he could get us more information by Saturday and he would present different Solar packages to see what we would best fit our budget. He asked to see an electric bill and asked my wife sign an IPAD to allow him to see the Electric bill information online. Later that night I went online just to check Vivint Solar out and found many recent 2018 complaints of different reasons. I did not feel comfortable with continuing with getting anymore information from Vivent so I called the Rep on next morning Friday 11am and told him that we decided to not go further with getting any more information, Thank you. On Saturday we found out from our Karma account that Vivint ran a Hard Line Credit report on us. Not at anytime did he say he was going to run a Credit Report on us and neither did we even talk about or approve. I find this method both Illegal and Unethical in any type of interaction from Company to Consumer. Jeff from San Bernardino, Ca.

My husband and I received a knock on the door from Gentry R representing Vivint Solar Developer in 2013. He talked about the solar company and explained to us that we would be paying for the power produced by the solar panels and could remove them at any time as long as we paid a $500 fee to remove them. We asked Mr. R several times about the removing the panels if we moved or decided to purchase through a different company and he assured us it was a simple $500 process. My husband and I have attempted many times to contact a supervisor to discuss the removal. Every time we call we are put on hold or given an excuse as to why we cannot speak to a supervisor. My husband has contacted the Vivint customer service via email and they were dismissive and unhelpful. We have contacted several other customers of Vivint and they were told that they could remove the panels at any time for a $500 fee. We have written complaints to Better Business Bureau, the CA Attorney General, FTC complaintassistant.gov, and the complaint department with consumerfinance.gov. We have looked into other complaints on the internet. We are baffled as to how this company is still in business with the amount of complaints against them. In fact, there are many lawsuits against Vivint regarding deception, defrauding customers and engaging in unfair business practices. The New Mexico Attorney General Hector Balderas recently filed a lawsuit against Vivint for unfair trade practices. Vivint has also had to pay ADT $10 million in a lawsuit settlement over deceptive sales in Boca Raton, Florida. The list goes on and on with this business. There has also been an article written by Daniel S from The Hill titled Americans were duped by bad actors in rooftop solar industry. When we signed the contract, it appeared to be one page. We did not notice until later that a lot of fine print is written after our signatures. We were never shown the back side of the contract and we were made to believe the contract was one page. We have tried contacting Vivint to pay the $500 removal fee but are constantly given the run around. We have also noticed the panels are not producing what Vivint explained. We have spoken to an SDG&E representative and he told us the solar panels did not produce enough in 2017, hence our high electricity bill. We would like to resolve this issue with Vivint and have the solar panels removed as they promised through their representative, Gentry R. We have no problem paying the $500 removal fee that Mr. R promised. Please take a moment to look into this company by googling lawsuits against Vivint and complaints against Vivint. I feel that you would agree with the unfair practices.

We are in our third year of a 20-year PPA with Vivint Solar. When I first got on board with Vivint, I dismissed the poor ratings as being written by customers who did not fully understand what they were getting into. You are not going to be getting free electricity; however, you will have lower electric costs after paying what will now be two utility bills each month. I understand that by leasing our roof space to Vivint, we enjoy many of the financial advantages of solar without incurring the costs of installation and maintenance. (Yes, they get the tax incentives and credits, and they sell us the power that is generated on our roofs.) As time goes on, I have learned that our biggest problem with Vivint Solar is that word “maintenance”. When our system was installed, I insisted that we be provided with the same system monitoring software interface from SolarEdge that is used by Vivint technicians. Most Vivint customers are NOT given access to this important system information, instead being provided with fairly useless “feel good” information about equivalent environmental benefits and whether or not the system was producing power. In my instance, I know when one of our panels or anything else in our system is malfunctioning. Whenever I see a problem with our system, I need to take the initiative of calling Vivint to schedule a service appointment. They quite obviously do not monitor customer systems or care enough to be proactive about scheduling necessary service appointments. Each time I have called to schedule service, we then wait ... and wait ... and wait. Currently, it has been over 3 weeks since I called because we are experiencing yet another instance of a power optimizer shutdown on one of our panels (something that seems to be a recurring defect on these Jinko panels.) I suspect that this post might bring Vivint to life. I should not have to be the one to make Vivint aware of problems like this. That should be their responsibility. And, when I do contact them, there is no excuse for the horribly slow response. In another instance, Vivint took it upon itself to cancel a service call (without notifying me, of course) because they determined that the problem had somehow fixed itself (apparently because a panel that had been generating no electricity had started generated 2 or 3% of what it should have been producing.) Earlier in the year, the system’s inverter broke down, leaving us with a system that generated zero power for nearly two months. When technicians arrive, it becomes clear that some know what they are doing, while others are simply young guys who need a job and are willing to climb up on roofs. They do not seem to be in touch with the fact that most people who install solar electric panels are fairly environmentally conscious. During our last service call (another instance of a power optimizer shutdown), we had TWO Vivint Solar vans idling in our yard, wasting fuel, for two hours ... presumably to keep their air conditioning running. The bottom line is that, when our system was first installed, I was a true evangelist for Vivint Solar, recommending it to several friends. After three years of experience working with Vivint, I would not recommend the company to my worst enemy. I am glad that I did not pay for the investment in our solar system, because it is clear to me in hindsight that this equipment is anything but maintenance-free; however, it is that same maintenance that is Vivint’s single greatest failure, at least in our instance. Vivint Solar puts far too much emphasis on sales (and no doubt collecting their incentives), with far too little emphasis on service. During the installation process, most of the delays are blamed upon the local utility and permitting authorities; however, once the system has been installed, the blame for service delays falls squarely upon Vivint Solar. Even when I have been provided with contact information and told to “call me if you have another problem”, those calls go unheeded. The company is either over-committed, under-resourced, or simply does not care.

Horrible company. My wife was upset with me for signing up with Vivint Solar after our experience with Vivint Alarm. Bryce J. led me to believe that the system would be monitored by Vivint and I would be notified if system fell more than 5% of expected production. Bryce also said we would receive a $200 credit for each referral, we referred 2 people and never received the credit or check. Called Vivint customer service and was told my wife and I had mistook what he said, The lady said she would have to ask Bryce if he told us that. She told us he said we were lying. I noticed my NEM was high at the end of the third year of solar service, checked the solar meter at the side of my house and found that only 23 of 31 panels were working. After 5 calls to their customer service, we finally got a service technician out. He said he would have to check if the faulty parts were under warranty still, and permission to replace them. After that service call only 18 panels worked. Next service call took 2 trips to get the system fixed. 2 weeks later, 3 panels quit working. Equipment doesn't work properly. Frustrating, they know they have a 20 year contract and you can't break it without paying ridiculous charges, or purchasing the faulty system, Beware of Vivint companies.

This is an update to other reviews that I have written about Vivint. Going on 6 yrs now and nothing but problems from day one. Every time it rains the system will go down for days at a time. Their service has been terrible, I am paying my in utility bills now than I ever had. They sent a service crew out here a couple of weeks ago without telling me, There was over a foot of snow and ice on the roof, they told me they had to get on the roof to check something out. I told them I would not allow then on the roof with a foot of snow and ice up there, They were not very happy with me, but I am not going to see someone get hurt on my property. I will have to see what happens now that sunrun has bought them out, but reading the reviews I am not to optimistic about any changes. My advice to others is to stay away from Vivint, they are a SCAM company

I had Vivint Solar panels put on my roof in August of 2017. Today is July 28 2018, and nothing is running yet. I was told by the salesperson that it should be from 4-17 weeks for all paperwork and inspections to be done. Well we are just about 52 weeks in and Vivint Solar is not working. My system should have been on since January 2018, but since it was raining and not much sun out I wasn't really worried. But once the sun started to come out I starting getting a bad feeling so I started calling. So many excuses and they were all directed at PGE. So I asked to speak to supervisor but none available. I was told a supervisor would call me back the next day, that was months ago and I yet to hear from a supervisor. The only way I got there attention was after I started posting reviews like this one on different social media platforms. I posted on the Vivint Solar website, yelp, bbb, consumer affairs, Call Kurtis from the news, solar reviews, Google reviews, and now this one. I have an annual payment due in a couple months and have asked Vivint Solar to help with that since my system hasn't even been up any part of this year. But the rep is giving me the run around. I have emailed the Vivint Solar CEO twice already and can't get help from him either, so to all that are looking into solar, please please please do not even look at Vivint Solar. Save the headache and go elsewhere.

A sales rep came to my door and tricked me into this 20 year contract. First, he said based on my usage with Nationalgrid it would about $110/month. But Vivint installed a over kill system on my roof which I am only using half of what it produces but they bill me $250 a month. I contacted the rep but no response and the company stated he is no longer working for Vivint. What a joke this is? Vivint told me I cant proof what the sales rep told me. Secondly, during the winter, snow and ice slide off the roof above the front door and almost buried my 10 year son. This was complained to Vivint and they suggested to install a "snow guard" at my own expenses which is about $1500. Vivint would not retire any panels as of this writing so I don't have to pay any over production that I don't use. Don't do any business with Vivint.

I wish I could not give any stars at all. This is the worst company I have ever dealt with! Do NOT let Vivant Solar near your roof or even one of their representatives in your house! They are a cheating company, they lie to you about your savings, their equipment fails and expects YOU to advise them. Hello, isn't that the Company's responsibility to monitor your equipment???? Apparently not, that is why they continued to charge my CC monthly on what they thought / guessed would be my usage. Really, I ended up at the end of the year having paid Vivant because they had automatic payment arrangements, and the electric company at the end of the year at a whopping price of $1220 for the time My equipment was not working that I did not know about. Now guess what after 1.5 yrs I need a new roof which I was told Vivant should have never installed their equipment on my roof which was 24 yrs old at the time. I told the company representative, Darin, the roof was older than 20 yrs. Vivant didn't care about how old the roof was, as long as I didn't have a leak, the only thing they cared about was to get their equipment installed and started getting my money instead of me giving it to the electric company. Now with having to have the solar panels removed they are charging over $2000 to remove and reinstall. I wish I could just have them take their faulty equipment away except I'm stuck into a 20 yr contract with them. DO NOT EVER DO BUSINESS WITH VIVANT SOLAR,!

We were promised by our sales rep that there would be no cost to remove the panels if roof repairs ever became necessary. Due to the poor work of the installers, our roof began leaking 2 months after the installation. When we contacted Vivint, they tried to make us pay $2000 to remove the panels, so we contacted the sales rep. He promised to get the fee waived for us, but then refused to return our calls. We read through the paperwork we were given when we signed the contract and found where it showed a $499 fee for the removal of the panels, but Vivint has refused to honor the rate. We filed a written complaint and have followed the dispute terms listed in our contract, but vivint has refused to respond. They have been holding our roof hostage for 7 months. They are not concerned about the damage their work does to the houses of their customers. They employ dishonest sales tactics and refuse to honor their contacts.

Vivint Solar is by far the worst company I have ever dealt with as a consumer and allowing them to install solar panels on my home was the biggest mistake I ever made as a property owner. I have never dealt with such an unethical company or such incompetent people. In June 2017, Vivint installed solar panels on my roof causing extensive damage across the entire surface where the panels were installed. They have not taken steps to have this damage repaired in order to stop water infiltration through the roof into my home, which has caused tens of thousands of dollars in damage to my home. They have offered to reimburse me for maybe a tenth of the costs to repair the damage. Holes were drilled into the roof and then left exposed. Shingles were ripped and torn allowing water to seep under and eventually through the roof decking. Flashing improperly installed around brackets. Debris that was strewn across my roof and lawn after the install. Each Vivint crew that showed up had no idea what they were supposed to be doing, let alone how to do it. One Vivint technician had to borrow my tools. It took Vivint six months to remove the panels and now they refuse to pay the cost to repair the damages. When it became apparent to Vivint that they had caused damage to my home, they sent me a settlement agreement offering to pay for a fraction of the total portion of the cost to repair the damage. If I had signed that agreement I would have waived my right to pursue Vivint for any further damage caused by their installation. This is their m.o. If you receive a settlement agreement from Vivint read it carefully and do not sign anything that nullifies your original power purchase agreement. For Vivint vustomers who haven't experienced leaks *yet* just wait. Most of you will at some point and Vivint will do little to nothing to take care of the problems. For some of you, depending on your state of residence, there are legal options outside of arbitration, despite what dishonest Vivint reps may tell you. First of all, contact your homeowners insurance agent, and make complaints to the state Attorney General, against their contractor's license, with the BBB, etc. Post your experience on social media. Contact local media outlets who do stories on companies that take advantage of consumers. Talking to a lawyer is always a good idea, if only for a consultation about your rights and how to recover damages in a legal action. If you are considering getting solar panels, I implore you to stay away from Vivint.

We recently bought a house with Vivint already installed. First off Vivint allowed their salesperson to put an 89 yr old woman who was bed ridden into a 20 yr lease. When we called Vivint before the sale the CSR stated that the panels produced about 90% of the energy needed for the home. She refused to answer any questions about the companies dealings with the elderly or give us any info on the contract Vivinthad with the previousowner. Mind you at this time we didn't know this was a lease AND neither did her family (she had passed away) we bought the house from the family and then found out the panels were leased for 20 yrs, as did the family. We called Vivint they refused to take any responsibility for selling to an elderly woman (who come to find out was incapable of making the decision). Sad. We are going fight the lease along with the family. The type of people who would prey on an old lady are the lowest of the low. I'll update the review after we meet with the attorney.

We just got the system activated on June 18th 2018, after a year of processing and paperwork we were very exiting that we could turn on the system and go green and save some bucks on our electricity bill. For our unpleasant surprise we noticed that the system is not even producing the 50% of the energy we are using and this is summer when the system should be producing at least 90% of our usage as we were told by our sales rep Guillermo S. during the various visits he did to our house while we were making the decision if it will work for us or not. He also explained us that according to the usage they could adjust the amount of panels we need either adding more or taking some down. So we went ahead and start the process and patiently waited 14 month until everything was ready to go , in the mean time we even went ahead and repair our roof so everything was optimal. Guillermo was very available for us during the process and answer our questions before June 18th 2018 the day the system was ready to come alive. Since we can monitor the system production online we started to do that from day 1, and that is where we noticed that consistently the system have been producing like 30% of our usage for this summer months when it was supposed to be producing at least 90% according to what we were told. I have been trying to contact Guillermo several times about the issue and had not answer. I did contact Sean and he told me he will pass on the concerns to Guillermo since he does not work with him anymore. Today I was contacted back by Sean and he basically told me that we are stock FOR 20 years with a system that does not fit our needs because Nevada does not allow to add more panels. Why we weren't told that from the beginning? We were lied to so they could get us to sing the contract . We really feel upset and disappointed about what is happening because now our electricity bills are going to be way higher than what they were we NVEnergy , we are not even going to be able to pay the same we were paying before, when we were promised we were going to be at least saving some money. This is sounding like an scam to us. I already sent an email to online-reviews@vivintsolar.com, like you recommend to complainers do on this site .

This is a follow up to a review on June 20, 2018 on VIVANT Solar. After writing this review and making a complaint with the Better Business Bureau of Utah, I was contacted by a VIVANT representative by phone and email. Since then we have been playing phone tag trying to resolve my issue with VIVANT. In the meantime I have discovered through my bank that VIVANT solar has placed two liens on the property without my parents knowledge. So for those who have contracts with VIVANT I would check on this because it may cause problems with loans and other things for your property. I also had a building inspector co e to my parents home to do an inspection for the solar to be put up. After talking with the inspector from the city, I found out the permit was submitted in May after we contacted VIVANT we wanted the solar to be removed. And when the solar was first put up back in 2014 there was no one from the city to come and do a building inspection on my parents home. Also, why didn’t vivnat notify my parents that they needed a building permit to put solar on their roof. VIVANT also sent me an email letting my parents know that if they want out of the contract with VIVANT it would cost them $50,000. So please be careful when dealing with this company because they do things without homeowners knowledge.

My name is Jose Gonzalez from Bakersfield Ca my experience with Vivint was fair until I ran into a pigeon nesting problem underneath the solar panels. The pigeons have made my roof a nightmare there is a lot of noise and bird droppings all over the patio system. I no longer look out my bedroom window because it makes me upset all over again. Simply the problem is the solar panels are to raised giving the birds and nesting place and a place to get out of the direct sunlight. I spoke to customer service a while back and they said they would charge me to fix the problem with there panels, after the failed attempt once to put a surrounding net to keep the birds out. I can sincerely say I wish I would have never opened my front door to the salesmen that are gone to the next town leaving you hanging. I have been very patient with Vivint but it might be time to post the absolute nasty pictures of what my roof has become on social media to save anyone from the issues we have. By the way Incase you are wondering my neighbors have zero Pigeons on there roofs!

I have had Vivint for about a year. When i signed up for it, i told them i will be replacing my roof the follow year. i wanted to wait before buying the solar system. I asked how much it would cost to take the panels off if i needed to redo the roof. I was told $500 to $1000, then i decided to buy. Now that i want to change the roof they are telling me $2000 to remove and install. I made a big mistake dealing with Vivint, Wish i could just take the solar off , it costing me more than i will ever save! Don;t let the salesmen sweet talk you because the words are not trusted.

I can’t give negative starts! So A sales rep came to my house, they explained how California was having a hard time keeping up with energy demand and that they can install solar panels in my home 100% free of charge, and I would never have to pay thing. Basically help California produce more energy to keep up with the demand . The rep told me I would never have to pay a thing, but that they needed my account, and routing number information just to have it on file . Explain to me that I would receive a regular bill, and still pay for the energy that I would be using on a discounted rate so I would be paying a little less on energy while helping California produce more energy still only paying the energy that I would be using now Out of no where I get charged over $160 and the company is telling me that I have to pay for all of the energy that is being produced . Why did anyone ever explain this to me! I get charged more money that I can afford to pay; my energy bill was never that high to begin with . The way they explained it to me is basically we’re going to borrow your roof put solar panels on it, and it wil produce more energy for California, and you pay your energy bill at a discounted rate . I feel like I’m part of a scam because now they’re just taking my money that I’m having a hard enough time making, while just barely taking care of all of my financial responsibilities, and all the medical problems , and illnesses that my daughter has. I cannot afford this. I’ve made several attempts to contact management department and explain how everything transpired in this situation that I find myself in . Every single phone call that I’ve had so far has basically just reminded me that I’m on a 20 your contract, and there is literally nothing that they’re doing for me they won’t transfer me to a supervisor they will not transfer me to any management, VIviant Solar is pushing me around , and not giving me any direct answers. Im very disappointed in these business practices. People are being lied to, and taken advantage of. Every month I call, and try to speak to someone. All they do is intimate the customer and remain them about the 20 year Contract that they lied about. I never received nor did I have the opportunity to review a copy of this contract until the day I called to complained. They said they would email me one. This is absolutely ridiculous. I told them the rep had written down some stuff while explaining all this, they told me to send them that information, I did via email. Now they won’t even get in Contact with me, but still send me notifications of how my bill is due again! I’m contacting BBB! For all people out there, don’t allow yourself to get scammed.

The Solar System was installed in 10/2017, but still have not turned on. Constant issues with its paperwork, engineering department, interconnect department. I am notified that it will be an indefinite wait. I paif over $20K + up front in 6/2017. It has been a year and I got nothing. I contract a 6.44 kw system, but they only installed 5.33 kw. After I caught the mistake, they added more panels. However, the blueprint / engineering design / permits were all messed up due to its own mistakes. I am in the unnecessary / indefinite holding pattern now. Called Customer service and relationship department. They offer me $200 to compensate the lost. It must be a joke or something! Ready for class action against Vivint if they keep the same pattern of irresponsible behaviors.

At the beginning the staff was very friendly especially the sales rep Willy (G.) and seemed like they went out of their way to answer any questions. The deal was wrapped up fairly quickly and before I knew it my alarm/ cameras were being installed. I was overpromised by Willy that this would be a quick install and 8 hours later the job was finally finished. I didn't really mind how long it took for the install as I know unforeseen things come up during installs. A few months later my solar panels were installed, a few months after that NV Energy conducted a final inspection and failed the install. Nobody from Vivint could be reached to get this sorted out and Once I would get in touch with someone I kept getting passed along and nobody would take responsibility. Finally a tech came out and made the necessary adjustments and the inspection passed. 2 months later I'm being double charged for my power. NV energy and Vivint are both billing me around the same amount. Again I can't reach anyone. Willy passed me off to someone else and neither of them are answering calls or texts. I called the 800 number that was given to me and I was told that my system is not registering any production yet I am still being doubly charged for power. NV energy confirmed that I have been using power from the grid and that I have not consumed any solar power. The cameras they installed work about half the time and when I try to speak to them about the camera problems I'm told that they don't deal with the cameras that's a 3rd party that's in charge of the camera system. The interesting part about this is that Vivint claimed they kept everything in house. Stay away from these no good crooks.

My system has been in place for two months and it isn't turned on. My electric company sent me an email because they put my system turn on on hold. The system inspection performed by Vivint and the town electrical inspector said that the system was good to go. But the report was never sent to the electric company so that they could change my meter. I checked with the town inspector and he told me that Vivint is suppose to mail in the inspection report. I checked in with the electric company and they never got the inspection report. I called Vivint technical support several times. It's like talking to the wall. They don't care. I asked to speak to a supervisor and was told that I was talking to a supervisor. He wasn't interested in helping me out. He figured that he had done enough and after two months I am still without my solar power. when I told the supervisor that I was losing money by not running the system, he told me that the system didn't cost me money so how could I be losing money. I wouldn't go with Vivint if I had to do it again. They just don't care. I'd find someone else to put in panels.

I am very disappointed in the after-sales care and performance of my 11.2kW system. Very slow from signing to operating. We signed paperwork mid-June 2017, the install was Aug 25th and we did authorization to operate until Dec 1. Looking at bills now I am not convinced that they system will save any money at all and to top it off I have a pigeon infestation that is going to cost $800-$1000 to clean up and fix. My neighbor just had solar installed with another company, exact same floor plan as ours and animal guards were included on his system. Even if we save $50-$75 per month we won't see any savings for another 18 months or so. If I had it all to do again I would not do solar or at least I would have shopped around more and avoided Vivint Solar for sure.

On May 16, 2018, a Vivint sales person, Scott, tried to trick me. He gave me a tablet and said "Please sign here to verify that I came and talked with you." The signature instruction actually said "by signing here it allows us to check your credit." I refused to sign, and told him sternly "I do NOT give you permission to run my credit." Guess what, that very day, I got an identity protection alert that Vivint solar checked my credit! when I called Vivint to complain, the guy on the phone said it is their common practice to check potential customer's credit with or without permission. So the deceptive practice is normal for Vivint solar.

A representative for Vivint came to our door a year ago. Very misleading sales pitch. He said we woul be charged .16 cents per kilowatt hour which sounded great. What he didn’t tell us is that’s based off what the panels produce NOT what we use! We are saving absolutely nothing! Statements only show production not what we have used. He also pressured us when signing the contract. Said it’s just what I told you, just initial and sign here. He seemed so nice that we were too trusting. I have been so upset over this that I feel sick. Customer service has just given me the run around. I want an itemized bill! I can’t belive we are tied into a 20 year contract with these crooks. If I don’t get answers soon I guess I will have to resort to talking with an attorney. Please beware and look at all options because this one is awful!

Hi Richard, We are sorry to hear that you have been frustrated with your experience in going solar. Vivint Solar cannot bill on usage like a utility company, as we cannot guarantee how much energy the solar panels will produce. We do not warrant or guarantee savings, however when designing the system your current usage was taken in account to design a system that will help fit your needs. In the summer months your solar bill may be higher as you produce more energy, and if that energy is not used it will often be stored up and be applied as credits to use in the winter months with your utility. If you have additional questions and or concerns about your billing or production please send an email with your address to . Thank you for your feedback.

We have been experiencing all kinds of problems with Vivint. We were told in November of 2017 that they were coming to check our panels. When asked if there was a problem we were told that 10 panels were down! When asked how long they were not working we were told since June of 2017 we are now in November of 2017 and no one knew that our panels were not working yet we are connected to the computer in home system that transmits directly to Vivint fir the energy produced and used. We called them several times for the high electric bills we were paying and it went on deaf ears. Yet we were told they were all working correctly and producing. Many of our friends were receiving very low electric bills and no bills from our NE service National Grid while we were being billed by National Grid and Vivint for bills well over $200.00. I would. Call and tell them something is definitely wrong but no one much cared. In November 2017 they set up a date to come in December but due to a dusting of snow which was gone the next day they were unable to check the panels. So they booked us for January, snow again. They came in March to check but said they did not have the correct tools with them and rebooked again after I had an argument that We were tired of the run around and no one truly were helping solve this problem! Yet we were still paying high electric bills. This time we were told that 15 panels were out. I had several conversations to the Vivint Co. in Utah. Finally they were sending two technicians to the house to fix now 18 panels that were down! They were to be here between 11am and 2pm. On April 7, 2018. My husband and I waited all day and no one came! At 3:45 pm I called Utah and spoke to a young man who said he would check to see why they didn’t come. I was told that they turned in a slip that the panels were fixed. He said they went to your house around 8am and left at 11:30am. I told this person that this was not true! For we were here and no one came to our home. Finally They gave me a contact in the Ma. Area . I spoke to the Mgr for district 1&2 in Ma. Told him the situation he said he would call me back in 1/2 an hour which he did. He set up a crew of 3 men to fix my panels. They called me at 7:15am to say they would be there in an hour. They arrived around 8:15am and did not leave our roof until 3:45pm. We were also told that the system would need 24-48 hours to be up and running but they were not sure how well they would be transmitting because the Envoy unit was not in the right place in our home that who ever installed it put it too far away from the unit that calculates the collection of energy verses the correct usage. So they booked an Electrician for May 15th to install a cable on the other side of the house and change the placement of the Envoy box so hopefully it will read correctly. I also had National Grid send them hard copies twice for our electric usage from January 2017 to April 2018 for we expect Compensation for the money due us for over billing us even with 18 panels down. It will be a year June 1st 2018 and the problem has not been resolved. I was told twice in the last 14 days that they did not receive the hard copies from National Grid yet a young lady in the Comp. dept. said she had received the information but they could not look at compensation until after the 15 th when the system is up and running. I received my hard copy three weeks ago and National Grid said they sent Vivint the day information. With all this going on and Vivint knowing g the problem us with their Company they had the audacity to bill me $188.00 for April Electric bill! I had the bank stop automatic bill payment to Vivint and reported this to A Mgr. at Vivint in Utah who agreed and was to speak to billing to eliminate this bill! My home is a medium size ranch with 48 panels! I should have very small bill from Vivint and no bill from National Grid as do my neighbors! Many have credit from Vivint and National Grid That has NEVER been our experience. We wish we had never installed solar panels, for we see no savings as was the big pitch before we accepted the panels. Plus paid $9,000, for a new roof to place the panels knowing our roof was still good for another 7-8 years we were told when Vivint came to first measure our roof for installment of the solar panels. The other problem is you can never talk to a Rep. from the Co. they are not available to speak to. You either get the first contact on the phone and they connect you to office people who really cannot fix this problem! VERY FRUSTRATING TO SAY THE LEAST! What I have stated is our true experience with Vivint Solar Co.

Had solar installed 2years ago, first year was good, then the inverter developed a leak and failed, took them 4 months to finally replace the part, then something else failed and have been waiting for them to fix this problem. So, for the last year hasn’t functioned. Considering having them remove the system, and have them replace my roof and repair the siding behind the inverter.

We have had Vivint about 2 years. When we signed up for them we asked repeatedly how much it would cost to take the panels off if we need to redo the roof. We were told each time $500. We mistakenly didn't read the fine print. Our roof started leaking - not from the solar- after one year so we made hired a roofer and call vivint to to remove the pannels We got a bill for $4500 We were floored.. We called the customer service at least 5 times and were told we would get a call back but no one ever called. We finally realized we would have to pay the money... So we paid it. Then we couldn't get them scheduled to remove the panels.. More phone calls without return calls. Finally had some one out. They only took the panels off and they left all the electrical hardware and brackets!!! They told us they were not going to remove them and to have the roofer do it. I was steamed!.. We made more phone calls finally got them out to remove the electrical and they only removed about 2/3 of the brackets because they had another appointment to go to. Our roofer finally agreed to help us. Now we have to put the panels back on.. Wish we could just get out of the contract. Has cost us way more than we will ever save!

Save your money and find another company. This company lies and does not save you any money. My electric bill went up and they did not install the number of panels they said they would. They then came back and tried to show me how good there panels worked via a tablet app-funny thing was the system was shut off. then they offered me money back as well as to install a new power panel and more solar panels for a higher monthly fee. They still charge me a monthly fee for nothing since the system has been shut off for over 2.5 years. DISHONEST COMPANY...........DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THEM!!!!!!!!!

tired of big corporations taking advantage of people. in 2014/ 2015 vivant installed solar panels on my roof. I was at work and got a call that they could only install 7 panels instead of what was needed but was promised that the panels would be sufficient. I signed the work order stating 7 panels were placed. 2,000 NEM bill, Customer Service rep and Sup kept telling me : don't worry and don't pay the NEM as it will go down at the end of the cycle". well it did not and guess what I did not have 2,000 to pay so my electricity was shut off. had to pay 1,000 to turn it back on and make payments. this crappy company never helped out and or returned calls including the sales rep Chad Vogl ( hope the perks of the getting a sale was worth it ). only when the I filed a complaint with PG and E and filed a complaint with the BBB did any real communication start but it was more of you signed the contract and you are not living up to it as you are not paying the monthly fee on estimated cost. Estimated cost for panels that are not working and not no NEM being charged by PG & E. they stated that the panels were sufficient based on the sun and how my home sits. the house across the street faces the same direction as mine and guess what he has triple the panels. This company is a joke. looking for a good attorney right now.

I've had Vivint Solar for 2 years now and just received a "True Up" bill from Southern California Edison (SCE) for $692 and was blown away. I immediately called Vivint and requested an explanation. After numerous promises that I would be called back that never happened I requested a supervisor to help me. She made several promises to return my phones calls but was inconsistent as well. She asked that I send her 2 years of SCE statements (which I immediately did) and they would review it for compensation purposes. Come to find out that a large portion of my solar panels had not been working for almost 1 year however I continue to pay Vivint each month at about the same normal rate. They would only offer me a $120 credit towards the issue. The service department came by this morning and stated, "This is a much larger problem then we realized" and that they'd have to reschedule. It's very obvious at this point that Vivint does not care about me or my situation. They only care about about getting rid of me as a problem. Unbelievable!

We have had Vivint Solar for several tears on the PPA plan and we decided to buy our 22 panels so there would not be a problem when we sold the house. They quoted me a price of $36,000 to buy it now, but said it would only $20,000 if we sold the house. I would have paid the $20,000 now but not the $36000.

All the 1 star reviews are 100 percent spot on. This company lies!!!! My friend works with this company and is doing very well. Goes on nice trips all the time, meanwhile all of us are stuck with crazy bills because of the lies they feed you. The corporate office will show sympathy, but just give you the run around. I would never recommend this company to anyone. It took 6 months to get my solar turned on when I was told 3 months max. We had plans to run the piping through the garage and when I got home they were installing them on the outside wall, so I made them take it down and start over. They were suppose to come patch all the holes which they never did, or knew about until I called them. To be short, DON'T TOUCH THIS COMPANY!!!STAY AWAY, you will regret this decision. I am a brand new customer and I now wish I never had them. I now have to look everyday on the computer to make sure everything is running correctly, because they don't monitor the system, but they will tell you they do. BUYER BEWARE!!!

Vivint is the worst company I have ever dealt with, they are the biggest liars I have ever dealt with. We had been interviewing solar companies, a friend of ours had just had her panels installed by vivint so we decided to go with them, biggest mistake! the sales rep. showed up told us how many panels we would need, everything was the same as the other companies, we signed up, they did the installation, 6 months later we finally got the okay to turn on the switch. They started deducting money from our bank account, more money than the sales rep said they would deduct monthly. We spent the summer thinking we were solar and according to what the sales rep said we were saving money, well a year after the installation we received a $1500.00 bill from Edison. We were floored, because according to the sales rep. we had more than enough panels to produce more electricity than we needed, that the excess would go back to Edison, and they would send us a check at the end of the year, to pay us for the extra electricity produced by our panels, but instead of a check we got a $1500.00 bill. We called Edison, they told us that the panels did not produce enough electricity, and Edison provided the electricity the panels were supposed to produce. As it turns out, the panels did not work after a couple of months after installation, Vivint is supposed to monitor them through our internet connection, but they did not monitor them, and yet even when they were not supplying our electricity they never stopped taking our money from our account. When we called them and asked, why did they take over $1000.00 from our account if they were not producing electricity for us? They told us that, whenever the panels malfunction and they do not receive the information through the internet of how much electricity the panels are producing, the customer is placed on an automatic billing amount. Now they are just giving me the run around, supposedly they are meeting to discuss a solution to my $1500.00 problem, this has been going around for over a month, and every time I call, they say that they will be meeting on Wednesday, they have been meeting on supposedly on Wednesday regarding my problem for over a month. I am currently seeking legal representation against this company, if anyone ells out there wants to file a class action against them feel free to make it known here. Predatory companies such as Vivint should be stopped, so that they can't pray on other people.

STAFF SERGEANT GREGORY DEAN "ICEMAN" WHITE, U.S. ARMY (RET) Manteca, CA

On April 2015 we signed to have Vivint Solar as our power source instead of paying PG&E. We are neither buying nor leasing the system to be specific. Fast forward to 2017 April ironically 2 years later. My wife while in the garage my heard a loud crash outside the garage doors. Calling on me to go out and inspect what happened. What I found, was a tile from the peak of our roof in the bed of my truck. In May, finally having a roofer come out to fix that tile.. The roofer informed us, we had bigger issues than the one tile. He explained, that pigeons were nesting under our solar panels. The roofer was nice enough to provide photos of what he was seeing. Our main concern with the system installed was to put a skirting around the panels to keep birds from crawling under and nesting. Until this point, everything was fine. Calling customer service, I was given the run around, May. June, 4 different techs came out to fix the issues. Each time they would come and go. One tech even said he fixed the problem, by placing a zip tie to close up a corner. Now, that might have worked, but in 105 degree heat. It would last at best 30 days. Calling and speaking with one of the field reps. Explaining that this needed to be fixed, and not with zip ties. The 4th tech came out, put his ladder up, crawled on the roof, and within 10 minutes was knocking on the front door. Said he couldn’t do anything until all the birds were removed. That there were nests up there and he wasn’t going to kill them. I said these are PIGIONS. They are not endangered or protected like Eagles are. Still he refused to do anything. Calling once again, the Operations Manager and Field Rep came out to see why, 4 techs couldn’t fix the issues. They crawled up and came down. Having taken pictures, they provided to me. There was about 2-3 inches of bird droppings built up, plus nests. What now? Well, we have to have a pest control company come out to remove the nests, clean, sanitize the roof. Before anything else can be resolved. Dealing with Vivint and their damage personnel are a JOKE! All I have to say is. If you drink now, you’ll drink even more. If you don’t drink, you’ll start. They are children with no common sense. Telling us that they will find a pest control company to come out and do all the work. That would mean that the solar panels needed to be removed to PROPERTLY do the cleaning. After hearing from one individual he contacted a company. That was able to do the job for $1000. Even though I provided 5 different companies bids. Where each of them came to the home to see the job site and what really was being dealt. That company removed itself from preforming the job. Meanwhile, going back and forth with this company. Vivint would not meet the time line. Let me remind you that this was from All June to the last week in July. When I finally, had enough and told them they had until August 1, 2017 to remove the panels. Otherwise, I’d remove them myself and throw them in the yard for pickup. Once the panels were removed the roof could be cleaned properly. After which a roof inspection would proceed. If the inspection came back clear, then the panels could be reinstalled. Well, there was found damages to the roof, and also leakage. Notifying Vivint of these finding they proceeded to stone wall. I explained before anyone from Vivint steps onto the property. I wanted to know who they were. Were they a General Contractor, with a Roofing and Solar Installation license. If they did not have all 3 of these licensees. They would not be permitted onto the property. This came as a result of speaking with several of the installers and techs. Coming to find out, they were not licensed in solar or had never done this type of work in the pass. One came from Sales and went through a very brief training. Another was from high school. So, that is why I insisted they be licensed. After I sent my 13 page letter directly to the CEO. I received an email and phone call. The individual would attempt to be understanding. But when I started demanding certain issues be resolved. She said I had to contact their legal and arbitration departments. Not a problem I said. Since then, I have provided Vivint several letters, even contacting an attorney to attempt a dialog with Vivint. Trying to resolve or attempt to come to an agreed resolution. February 2018, after months of nothing. There has been Only 2 reply’s, one (1) stating not to send correspondence to the CEO and that came in around October 2017. The second (2) reply was their legal department wish to talk with me directly. But needed to have permission to do so. The attorney on February 15th 2018, wrote an email authorizing permission to speak with me. Since February 16th, 2018. I have attempted to speak with their legal department. I have attempted seven (7) times, without Vivint Attorney answering or returning my call. Vivint insists they want to come to do their own assessment of the issues. Yet, Vivint has not provided or even attempted any type of willingness to come up with their own General Contractor, Roofer at this time. Today is the February 23, 2018 at 1519 hrs. So, my only recommendation for anyone. IF you have read this. Before signing any contract whether it is with Vivint or someone else. Check their status under the Better Business Bauru for the State(s) they are located and licensed. Especially their Corporate Office is located in. See how many complaints there are, have they been in bankruptcy. What is the true cost of the system vs whatever you want to do meaning buying, leasing, and power purchase agreements. Do your homework in the end you’ll have saved so much. One last thing. Does solar work? Sure, but like anything there is a catch. READ the fine print or take it to an attorney. Respectfully, Gregory Dean "Iceman" White, Staff Sergeant, U.S. Army Retired

BEWARE Vivint!!! I was shocked to drive by one of my rental houses in Desert Hot Springs in Sept. 2017 - to find Vivint installing a massive solar placement. I immediately had them stop since I had never authorized solar! I called & emailed them -- but they just kept passing me off to someone else. When I went to the City - I found that they had obtained a fraudulent permit for a $33,880 installation - signed by someone unknown to me. (I wasn't even in the state at that time). The tenants said the Salesman said he had all the paperwork needed from me, and that they would save "lots of money" every month - and could even take it with them if they moved. In November, I got a "non disclosure" agreement, calling it a "dispute" over the "Customer Agreement" HUH - I never signed one. They said their workers would "repair" my roof - but I could not even tell a future buyer about the repairs. My attorney has written them - but no response. So now it is February 2018 - and my newer tile roof still has 160 holes that they put in it - and there is still Vivint Electric boxes on the side of the house.

Stay away from this company! The sale team was great. The installation team was great. The customer service? The worst in the world. Think of your Comcast/cable company and multiply that by 10. Their system didn't report the usage correctly. I scheduled an appointment. They gave a 2 hour-window. Nobody showed up. Nobody called. I called to schedule another appointment. They gave a 2 hour-window. The technician called up several hours after the scheduled time and said he was running behind and couldn't make it. He said Customer Service would call me back to schedule another time. Nobody called me back. I complained on their Facebook page. They scheduled a tech to come out. Good thing, the tech came out this time. The problem couldn't be fixed. They scheduled another tech. The problem couldn't be fixed. Then they scheduled another tech. This time, this tech didn't show up, didn't call. I had to call Customer service up to schedule another appointment. They wasted hours of my time trying to be home to get their stupid system resolve. This is the worst customer service I have ever seen.

Vivint Solor just sent me an email regarding my $5.00 monthly discount. It stated that if I do not switch to Auto payment that I will lose this monthly discount. However, our sales rep Nathan stated that I could use my debit card and that would not be a problem. I spoke to the billing department and they state that it was written in the contract and that I should have read the contract. That is correct; however, they're placing many pages in front of you to read and sign one may miss a thing or two. I was wrong to trust my sales rep Nathan, because he stated it was okay to use my debit card and get the discount, but he never mentioned that it was dependent on auto payment. Vivint Solar has been giving this discount to their customers at their discretion and now they have decided to enforce their contract. I find this practice miss leading. It personally feel like bait and switch. They give you one thing and that to keep that one thing you must switch to what they want you to do. I know some of you will read this and think it's only $5.00, but to me it about the company's honesty and honoring their word. Just remember I am one customer writing a review on this topic. How many more are affect by this. Therefore, for them not honoring their word I am only giving them one star.

I purchased a house with Vivint Solar system already installed. I had to continue using the system. Our experience is EXTREMELY negative, here is why: 1. It took them 4 months to realize that the systems are not connected to internet, and no data is obtained, I inquired several times about this and was just brush off 2. It is already 10 months, I asked for representative to explain how it works and why my electric bills are higher than ever, not happened. I requested cost analysis 3 months ago, still not heard back 3. Roof leak, reported 10 days ago, still not addressed, despite 10+ calls from me with attempts to schedule repair. We had their expert coming but ... could not do anything due to LACK OF TOOLS!!! I love my new house, and need to stay in relation to VIVINT SOLAR is the only wrinkle I have to deal with. If you ever have options DO NOT PICK THIS COMPANY, SAVE YOURSELF from a lot of headache! The only good think I can say about this company is the fact that when you call them you can speak to actual person quite quick, customer representatives are nice, pleasant and appear to try their best. The problem is that it is all so disorganized, lack of communication between departments, etc.

I bought a house that had Vivint Solar panels. During the escrow process, Vivint tried to get the owner's name changed to my name, thus making me responsible for the contract, Somehow, the escrow never completed this part of the process. A few months later, the previous owner of the house showed up at my door to let me know that he was still paying this bill. I called Vivint and asked them to send me a copy of the contract. There is no way I would be bound by this contract, so I refused to transfer it to my name. On Sept 22, 2017, I turned off the power to the panels. I learned two important things about Vivint: They do not have the technology to read their own meters, so the customer is billed for an amount that is pulled out of thin air. To this day, my"usage" continues to go up. Secondly, I have ample evidence that Vivint and Southern California Edison are working together in this deal. I called SCE to ask them about my bill and I was told that SCE only bills me for the power that I use after 7pm. When I questioned them twice about their "extra special way" of calculating this, the customer service rep pivoted and refused to answer the question. Vivint is now sending me twice-weekly e-mails pleading with me to contact them about my late payments. All they need to do is read my file.

Great experience with initial customer rep, customer service via phone, updates to status and installation process. Only didn’t give 5 stars as the initial rep stopped communicating with me once I acquired service.

The sales person said I would save on my bill which averaged $600 per month and that was decreased by a medical base therm to $400. Said my bill with them would average $200 and that I would owe Edison about $20 per month at the end of year for a total of about $240 per year. No up front cost anf service is free. Well its been two years and my bill from Vivint averages $250 no matter the usage and my annual bill from Edison is $3,600, plus their charges increase despite their promise that it does not!! Lastly, when my roof leaked in the back they failed to service or repair the damage they did to my roof!!! Don't buy into the no cost its a sham go with Sunrun or some other company and purchase your panels!!!

Love the fact they use the current technology for their entire sales, order, build and bill processes. No paperwork to deal with - everything is electronic.
