  • NABCEP Certified
  • Panels, Inverters, and Backup Batteries
  • Solar Incentives and Financing
  • StraightUp Solar Service Department

Full-Service Solar Installer

StraightUp Solar is a full-service solar installation company, meaning the company conducts every step of the installation process in-house. StraightUp Solar heads up the initial consultation and energy audit of the home, engineering and design of the custom solar panel system, procurement of all necessary permits, construction of the solar PV system, and coordination with city inspectors for the final walkthrough and interconnection to the utility grid.

Every StraightUp Solar system is engineered by NABCEP-certified technicians and comes with a 10-year workmanship warranty.

NABCEP Certified

StraightUp Solar employs several solar technicians that have been certified by the North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners (NABCEP), which means the company employs an elite team of solar experts certified by the “gold standard” in the solar industry. Homeowners can be confident that their StraightUp Solar PV system has been designed and installed according to industry best practices and standards.

Panels, Inverters, and Backup Batteries

StraightUp Solar installs some of the best solar equipment available today. Like most solar installers, the company draws from an array of manufacturers, most notably of which are REC Solar, SolarEdge, and Tesla.

REC Solar builds some of the most energy efficient solar panels on the market. Armed with a 25-year equipment warrant, REC Solar panels report greater than 21 percent energy efficiency, making the German-based company a top-three manufacturer in the world. StraightUp Solar sources its inverters from industry leader SolarEdge, which provides active panel monitoring and a high electrical conversion rate of over 98 percent.

In addition to top-level panels and inverters, the company also gives customers the option to fortify their systems through a solar battery. StraightUp Solar has partnered with both Tesla and Generac to provide customers with solar storage solutions. StraightUp Solar is a Certified Tesla Powerwall Installer and also offers customers the entry-level PWRCell Energy Storage System as an alternative. Both devices allow homeowners to store excess solar energy in case of emergency.

Solar Incentives and Financing

If you have questions about solar energy costs and savings in your home state, StraightUp Solar can guide you through available incentives and financing options in Missouri and Illinois. You can access helpful information on the company's website or you can also call and speak with a customer service representative.

StraightUp Solar offers three solar loan options:

  • Clean Energy Credit Union Solar Loan
  • Home Equity Fund (HELOC)
  • PACE Financing

It is recommended that you speak with a StraightUp Solar representative to determine which financing options best fit your solar needs.

StraightUp Solar Service Department

Even after installation, StraightUp Solar is committed to ensuring that your solar system is functioning and helping you save energy. The company has a full-time service department that fulfills any service requests and helps troubleshoot any issues that your system may be experiencing. Some of the services offered include diagnosing common issues, such as the following:

  • Internet monitoring
  • Malfunctioning wiring
  • Malfunctioning inverters

StraightUp Solar services all systems and its team is qualified and experienced.

The Bad

  • Limited Availability
  • Average Workmanship Warranty

Limited Availability

StraightUp Solar is only available in Missouri and Illinois. The narrow service area may put smaller companies like StraightUp Solar at a disadvantage compared to larger companies with a national presence and more well-known brands. Promoting verified StraightUp Solar reviews on trusted sites could be an effective way for the company to stand out and set itself apart from other solar providers in the area.

Average Workmanship Warranty

While StraightUp Solar’s 10-year workmanship warranty is better than that of many small companies, it is considered the industry average. Leading solar companies attach workmanship warranties good for 25 years or more to their solar energy systems. The workmanship warranty protects the system against installation errors and subsequent maintenance fees.

The Bottom Line

For homeowners living in Missouri and Illinois, StraightUp Solar is a solid choice of home solar energy installer. The company employs true experts in the solar industry and installs quality equipment designed to reduce the homeowner’s energy bill.

The workmanship warranty is not quite as robust as leading companies, and verified StraightUp Solar reviews will reveal whether the company’s service quality matches the claims on its website; but neither should prevent homeowners from reaching out to the company for a free quote.

The sales guy was great friendly and seemingly knowledgeable. After taking our $$$ the story turns. In short after dealing with multiple service technicians coming to the house to get the same information before the project could get started and then multiple project mangers and months of delays. The nearly $60K system we wee told about is not what was delivered or even capable of powering more than a handful of circuits. They ran 100amp backup off the 50amp inverter output. I'm not an electrician but this seems questionable. BUT... They'll be happy to upgrade it for thousands of dollars more. In addition the solar panel bracing was mounted parallel to the rafters vs perpendicular. Which it causing sagging because the footing was not mounted over trusses. Now we have to add structural support between the trusses.

We were surprised with an additional $3500 charge for 3 piers in concrete for our ground mount array, only when presented with a pre-permit approval request. One would think this predictable. We are considering cancellation at a cost of at least $1000 rather than suffer further surprises.
