Axia by Qcells provides solar, battery storage, EV chargers, and energy services to homeowners in California and Texas looking to reduce their reliance on the grid and upgrade their home energy.

Axia is a full-service solar solution provider and is the residential sales arm of solar panel manufacturer, Qcells.

In 2022, Qcells was recognized by Fortune 500 for its product manufacturing service within the solar industry.

Axia by Qcells is a division of Qcells North America, which is part of Hanwha Corporation. Qcells is the largest solar panel manufacturer in the U.S., accounting for over 30 percent of the U.S. residential solar market - that means over 30 percent of homes in the U.S. with solar panels on their roof are Qcells. Hanwha Corporation demonstrates a commitment to sustainability and national economic interests by investing in the complete U.S. on-shoring of the solar panel manufacturing supply chain.

Getting started with Axia by Qcells is simple, with a customizable solar estimate provided entirely through the company’s online portal. Using a homeowner's address and a utility bill, Axia can provide prospective customers insight into what a solar system can do for the property and the potential savings associated with having a solar system and/or storage solution designed and installed.

The Good

  • Full-Service Process
  • Backed by Qcells
  • Solar Panel Technology
  • Flexible Financing
  • Hassle-free Manufacturer Warranties
  • NABCEP-Certified

Full-Service Process

The most unique aspect of Axia by Qcells is the fact that the company’s parent company, Qcells, produces the equipment while Axia by Qcells fulfills the entire solar energy service process from purchase to installation, and service. The industry generally consists of solar manufacturers solely producing systems and storage solutions and companies that strictly conduct installation services.

Axia by Qcells and Qcells have combined these functions by manufacturing their own product and then professionally installing these systems. That means Axia by Qcells customers will solely work with Axia during and after their solar project. If something goes awry, customers will only have to reach out to one company for assistance, a luxury that most solar customers don't have.

As a full-service solar company, Axia by Qcells offers its own take on the solar process:

Solar Design & Approval Process

As soon as Axia has all the required approvals for your solar system, they will proceed with the installation
process. To complete your project and get your home running on solar power, they will install the equipment on your home, coordinate the inspection by your local building department and confirm that you have the green light to flip the switch from your utility company.

Solar Installation Process

As soon as Axia has all the required approvals for your solar system, they will proceed with the installation process. To complete your project and get your home running on solar power, they will install the equipment on your home, coordinate the inspection by your local building department and confirm that you have the green light to flip the switch from your utility company.

Backed by Qcells

Axia by Qcells is backed by Qcells. Qcells is a well-established tier-1 solar manufacturer known for producing some of the best solar panels on the market. Axia by Qcells is founded by Qcells and utilizes some of its proven technology in its manufacturing.

Most independent solar manufacturers that also offer installation services are generally on their own and are not backed by a proven resource. Axia by Qcells is.

Solar Panel Technology

Qcells technology stands out in multiple ways:

  • Q.ANTUM DUO Z Technology has high module efficiency — Zero-gap cell layout boosts module efficiency up to 20.6%, allowing maximum solar energy production with less roof space. It helps convert more sunlight into usable electricity.
  • Innovative all-weather technology offers optimal performance — Whatever the weather, get more energy production than standard modules in low-light condition (early morning or evening) and in high-temperature areas.
  • Extreme weather rating provides durability — The high-tech aluminum alloy frame is built to withstand extreme weather conditions and is certified for high snow and wind loads.
  • The most thorough testing program in the industry ensures quality — Qcells panels undergo rigorous tests to ensure a high level of quality. Qcells solar panels are only deemed market-ready once they have passed all severe test conditions so they can stand strong and reliable throughout their product lives. In fact, Qcells is the first solar panel manufacturer to pass the most comprehensive quality program in the industry: The new “Quality Controlled PV” of the independent certification institute T. Rheinland.
  • Panels are protected for high performance — Qcells Yield Security includes Anti PID Technology, Anti LeTID Technology, and Hot-Spot Protect. This technology protects the solar panels from various degradation effects and hot spots.
  • Sleek black design means curb appeal — All-black color panels match most roofs and are aesthetically pleasing.

Flexible Financing

Axia by Qcells partners with financial institutions to provide customers with simple and affordable financing for the needs of their project.

  • Loan – The loan terms range from 10 to 30 years with zero down and flexible monthly payment options that will fit any budget.
  • Cash – Cash purchases receive a discount for their solar system.

Hassle-free Manufacturer Warranties

Because Axia by Qcells actually manufactures the products, the company backs its own equipment. Axia by Qcells provides hassle-free warranties for solar and battery storage systems, including the management of warranty claims between the manufacturer and the customer.

Solar Panel Warranties

  • 25-Year Workmanship Warranty - Axia’s warranty provides 25 years of repairs, replacements, and labor on the installation of a covered solar system.

  • Up to 30* Years of Performance Warranty - The manufacturer’s power output warranty provides up to 30 years of repairs or replacements so that the covered solar panels produce power at the warranted output levels.

Disclaimer: *The 30-year performance warranty is applied when financing Qcells solar panels through EnFin’s Smart Energy Loan Program.

NABCEP-Certified

Qcells and Axia by Qcells are NABCEP-certified. The North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners is known as the gold standard certification organization within the renewable energy field. While it is not required to maintain NABCEP certification to conduct solar installations, it goes a long way in showing the skill and knowledge an installer has as it pertains to efficiently installing a solar system.

The Bad

  • Limited to California and Texas

Limited to California and Texas

Only homeowners in California and Texas can work with Axia by Qcells, which is based in Irvine. As the company grows, there may be opportunities for expansion into solar markets in additional states.

The Bottom Line

With both manufacturing and installation solutions, Axia by Qcells truly provides an all-encompassing solar service to California residents.

Despite being relatively new within the solar industry, Axia by Qcells is backed by established solar manufacturer Qcells that comes with its own extensive expertise and technology. The process clients will go through when utilizing Axia by Qcells is truly one-on-one, as the company will design, produce, and then install the solar equipment. At some point, most solar companies require the involvement of a third party.

Solar clients looking to work with a company that both produces and installs its own solar equipment would likely benefit from what Axia by Qcells offers. However, those wanting a more experienced installation team coupled with more established products may want to look elsewhere.

Axia by Qcells Frequently Asked Questions

How does solar energy work?

Solar panels convert sunshine into solar energy to be used as electricity to power your home.

What is the difference between Energy Consumption and Energy Production?

Generally, energy consumption is the amount of energy you use or ”consume" in your day-to-day life. Energy production is the amount of power from the sun that your solar system converts to electricity.

What are the advantages of a solar system?

You can generate electricity with your solar system and rely less on the power grid. As a result, you can use the power you generate for your consumption and reduce your electricity bill. In some states, the power you do not consume seamlessly feeds into the power grid in exchange for bill credits on your electricity bill from your utility. In addition, you become more independent from the steadily rising electricity rates, as your solar production is not subject to any price increases.

How much power can the solar system produce and I consume?

The solar energy production of your solar system and the potential for self-consumption is dependent on several factors, including, but not limited to: - The orientation of the solar panels (North, South, East, or West) - The angle of the roof - The size of the solar system - Weather - Shading In addition, consumption depends on your lifestyle, family needs, and size. Axia Solar Advisors will ensure your solar system is built to fit your home and lifestyle.

Do solar panels work in cloudy or rainy weather?

Even during gloomy weather, the solar panels we offer continue to produce solar energy, but production may vary. This is because the amount of energy the solar system generates is dependent on sunlight. As a result, the solar panels will continue to produce energy, although less in cloudy weather.

Is it possible to store the electricity for the evening?

By integrating your solar system with battery storage, you can increase your energy independence. Battery storage systems can store energy you do not consume during the day and discharge that energy during high peak usage, at night, or during a power outage.

What happens if the power goes out?

Your home solar system is connected to the power grid, so when the power goes out, so does your solar system. This is to prevent emergency responders and utility repair crews from being injured by your solar panels during an outage. If your home solar system is integrated with battery storage, your battery will kick in to provide limited backup power.

How long does it take to install a solar system?

The assembly time of a solar system depends on its size and your home's requirements. In general, the installation of your solar system itself is accomplished in a few days.

Who will install my solar system?

Axia Solar has partnered with professional solar installers. Installers have been through a thorough vetting process and identified as quality solar installers with several years of experience. In addition, an Axia Solar Customer Advocate will guide you through the entire installation process.

How long is the manufacturer's warranty period for the components of my solar system and battery storage system?

Solar Panels — Solar panels come with 25-year workmanship and solar panel product manufacturer’s warranties. Battery Storage — Battery storage come with a 10-year manufacturer’s warranty, covering repairs and replacements on covered parts. In addition, during the warranty period and subject to the terms of your agreement, Axia Solar will manage and coordinate all repairs and replacements with the manufacturer.* * Certain exclusions and limitations apply, please refer to your manufacturer or installation warranty for additional details and applicable terms and conditions.

Pat Mac Houston, TX

We started our solar project in October of 2022, it’s now December of 2023 and we still don’t have a working solar system in place. In short, this company is too novice to be effective and in retrospect we should have opted for a more established company. Read further for more mishaps … In in addition to the absurd length of time we’ve spent on this project (1) we scammed out of $6k by a contractor who axia brought on for the install that mandated we do unnecessary work on our roof (2) had the wrong sized system installed (3) due to a lack of attention on the company’s part we lost our original loan (4) have had to pay $500/month utilities bills for another hot summer (6) and constantly had to text, call and email for updates due to all the shuffling of employees and project managers. We’ve worked with tons of contractors, utility companies and installers in many properties. This has been the most disappointing and frustrating experience. Just go through one the more established companies in the area for the time being until axia gets its act together.

Our sales person promised monthly savings by going solar but we are paying more for our bill every month despite him showing us a spreadsheet with savings. Why were we not sold a battery? The installation process was long and challenging and was not done by Axia solar. It was another company that installed it.

Jen

Felt totally misled by the solar consultant. I was not notified that Axia sub contracts all their installs. I was told all in one company with 25 year warranties. Was sold their oldest back stock equipment.
