Comcast is a major force in the telecommunications industry because of its large service area and the sheer number of customers it has served. If you've ever researched internet packages, Comcast has likely come up.
The company's regular rates start at $49.95 per month. You can bundle TV, phone, and home security services with its internet.
The Comcast Company has two major parts: Comcast Cable and NBC Universal. These two parts work together to bring all of the various types of media to homes across the United States.
Xfinity is a part of Comcast Cable and brings phone, TV service, home automation, and high-speed internet to customers. A variety of package options are available depending on the speeds and features accessible in your area.
Xfinity has a commitment to great service that is backed by a money-back guarantee.
Xfinity Internet offers some of the highest speeds in the industry. Its internet plans are organized by speed.
Some plans may not be available in some areas. Pricing may also vary depending on your location and desired contract length, and these prices can change depending on your timing.
Equipment, installation, and activation fees also apply in some cases. More on that below.
Since Xfinity is a large entity in the ISP industry, it covers a huge area across the United States: it's available in 39 states. With that large area coverage comes a lot of variation in upload speeds and download speeds available to you.
Xfinity doesn't have solid available speeds until it conducts a speed test for a specific address. This can be an obstacle if you're looking at internet options but aren't certain about your future zip code.
But, it's also a benefit because customers don't have to pay a fee for a certain speed package unavailable in their area. The price for an internet plan depends on the internet speed that's available; you won't overpay for Mbps that you're not receiving in your location.
When choosing a speed, you should consider whether multiple devices will access the internet. Xfinity provides general package information to give you an idea of what you might pay for certain areas.
Along with quick internet speeds for reasonable prices, Xfinity also promises internet security.
Xfinity has partnered with Norton Antivirus to bring their customers online protection. These security measures are easily downloaded onto any computer or device once the you've chosen your package.
The cost for this software is included in the monthly Xfinity bill. There is no additional charge for this security service.
Free security is a big bonus which could keep you safe from theft and viruses.
Like many other internet service providers, Xfinity offers additional services, like cable, in addition to its high-speed internet.
But if you think cable is antiquated, that's not your only bundling option with Xfinity. Xfinity has the option for customers to stream hundreds of channels and videos to view in their own homes through Xfinity TV service, the Xfinity Stream app, Xfinity Instant TV, or Xfinity Cable TV.
Xfinity packages offer the customer more than one of these services. If you choose to add on more services through Xfinity, they're typically bundled at a lower price. This is a huge benefit if you're hunting for several new services, but it's a downside if you're not.
If you strictly want internet service, you might be missing out on some promotions and better deals.
If you don't plan on staying with Xfinity, or if you plan on moving shortly, you can choose an Xfinity plan with no contract. Customers who choose this option will pay a higher monthly rate, but this is a convenient choice for those who dislike being locked into a contract that may raise rates.
Xfinity does not offer unlimited data. It has implemented data limits. Some of these data caps are as high as 1 TB.
Xfinity also requires a one- to two-year contract on many of its packages. Some other internet service providers do not have data limits or require contracts, so if you're wary of committing to an ISP long-term, so this may offputting.
Xfinity's service has a few costs that customers consider hidden fees. While these aren't technically "hidden fees" because they are mentioned in Xfinity's contracts, users sometimes see them as abrupt and unfair:
More fees might apply depending on your plan. Check your specific Xfinity package, and be aware that many rates are negotiable.
While Xfinity is available in 39 states, some of its competitors are available in all 50. These variables can be a disadvantage and a reason that customers search for other internet service providers for their needs.
Good quality, terrible pricing and customer service
Have a 2 year contract with Comcast Xfinity. They LIED and rased there rates even though they told me my rates were locked in for 2 years. Know I am stuck in a contract I have to honor but they do not.
I pay $141 a month for my internet. Why I have no idea. Over rated. New customers got same package for $20/mo for 1 Year
Product is tops, service is terrible. Very pricey product but is the best available in my area, but hope you never have to talk with them. It is always over an hour on the phone, they don't have a clue what's going on in the field. The guys that show up at your house are very knowledgeable, but the office is horrible. Understand that the speed that they sell you will be at least twice whaty you will recieve at your computer, but it is still much better than competitors.
No issues great customer service easy to contact for information
They suck. They don't deliver on what they promise. When I get out of this contact I'll never do business with them again.
I've been with this internet company for many years and I'm still with them! However, I gave them a four because many times, lately I can't get on line ! This has been happening during not only peak hours but early mornings! Overall, not ready to change just yet!
Very expensive...poor customer support. Too many channels selling things I don't want or need.
Over all, poor customer service. Always ending programs to increase prices.

Great! When all of my neighbors are losing their service during inclement weather or severe weather outbreaks, my household has both internet and television uninterrupted. This allows us to stay on top of what is going on and maintain contact with our families.
Horrible customer service no respect for my time, they constantly want you to do their work as an unpaid employee
I have no issues they are reliable.i think their pricing could be a bit lower but overall they are a good company.
i used to have a bundle that included phone internet and tv but now i only have internet service due to ever increasing pricing
Tim F in Maryland
Too expensive and quality of signal varies - pauses in shows and spinning of apps on phones delayed
Good service. Rarely down and usuall just a few minutes. Too expensive. Need to reduce rates.
Mary Anne Kornbau
Overpriced, surprise fees, difficult to get good customer service
Generally the internet connection works well. Customer service is mediocre.
poor signal poor cutomer service price keeps going up
POOR INTERNET SERVICE .I UNDERSTAND THE WIRES ON ROADS HAVE NOT BEEN RELACED SINCE THE SIXTYS .NEVER UPGRADE THERE SYSTEM AND ONLY FIX ANYTHING THAT HAS A PROBLEM COMPLIANT
customer service a joke, prices to high, they always put any issues on someone else, however have no choice of companies
Worst internet service I've ever experienced. I've only been a customer for less than a month, I've yet to experience a week of continuous service. I've called numerous times, I've even been sent a new router:modem, no difference. If I had not already paid, I would have already dropped this service provider.
The customer service is excellent and easy to access. They can generally offer a promotion for people working on a limited budget. And overall the bundles offered by Xfinity, are much more affordable.
Good service. Good price. It's dependable- no issues.
Terrible. Internet consistently goes out. Very unreliable
They are always helpful and most often they solve my reason for calling.
Great service....cost is too high and continues to go up to a ridiculous amount. Will need to shop around for alternate ex hulu etc
Unreliable and the call center is even worse. I called to have a repair but no call back and no repair. Figured it out and repaired it myself.
consistent, reliable service. price for value reasonable for internet portion; no value for the price with cable service. Township where service is provided has an exclusivity agreement with the town, effectively eliminating any competition.
Difficult to navigate customer service for live agent. Difficult to get answers.constantly changing website, making it more difficult and less consumer friendly
OVER priced, under featured, CRAPPY service, RUDE unresponsive service.
Reception great. Automation Sucks! Talking to real people is much more efficient.
Internet works fine & you can call or look on line for probkems
Janice B. Hill
I've been with them for years and they are pretty good, they can come down on their service packages some more.
Expensive and unwilling to negotiate their prices unless there is a lame bundle to offer.
Long-time customer, totally impressed with the quality of the phone, internet and cable tv products and especially the customer service
Too expensive,is going on and off way too many times
Worst ever. When I had cable with them everything was great. I went internet only and oddly enough I've had nothing but issues for over a year which they refuse to do anything about. They won't send anybody to check it they just run diagnostics each time I call and nothing ever changes. I lose internet service between 20 and 30 times a day. So it's very hard to watch TV let alone now that I'm working at home during Corona virus it is very hard to do my job. They simply do not care and their service and quality is awful.
Very high rates for internet and tv and bad speeds.
Almost doubling the price every year have to renegotiate pricing every year
Very fast internet speed, few connection problems, good price for my bundle of 200 channels, 250Mbps internet and unlimited voice.
Expensive and spotty. It is not good for m'ltiple levels.
N & S Great Lakes fishing
It hard to talk to a person. On technical items they can fix most problems over the phone
Terrific in how fast in networking since covid-19. Hasn't slowed down at all since the world is networking.
I love the internet connection. During this time I have very little internet interruption. I appreciate the services they provide
As a monopoly, theyvhave very poor customer service and high prices, because we do not have another option.
It was good no complaints, especially no outages or down time.
Fast internet but expensive. User friendly. easy to reach customer representative. Technical service is excellent.
I've used several Internet companies through the years and found Comcast among the best. However, Comcast and the others appear to share some common disadvantages, the largets of which is that, in this age of high speed Internet, they seem to charge more than is reasonable unless competition is used as athreat to their business, and then their costs get better.
Worst service provider ever! Internet speed is always slower than what you pay for and outages or a weekly occurrence!
slow internet and no access lots of times. having to call tech support you have to answer too many questions before you are routed to tech support
