We have had 3 claims with Select, and they have all been terrible experiences. Now, they people I've talked to have been acceptable, but the service is terrible. It takes too long to get a hold of a technician, get them to inspect, submit a diagnosis for approval before ordering a part and fixing it. I was without a washer for 3 weeks before they claimed that 2 of the 3 problems with the washer weren't covered. They offered to pay the depreciated value of the unit, which was $85. How do you replace a washer with $85? Their HVAC technician quoted $900 to fix our unit, when my HVAC friend fixed it for $300, nonreimbursable because they don't cover Freon or leaks. I have a non-Freon unit, but they don't treat it any differently. Now we have an oven that turns off after 400 degrees. A week after submitting a claim, I find out that the technician they assigned me doesn't work with them not do they serve my area. Now I'm waiting again for a new technician. Even the technicians say Select is horrible. Do not waste your time or money. I have given them too many chances.

I bought a new home so I bought the warranty as a safety net in case of a major appliance having problems. My heater broke and needed a a motor and the cost was almost $750. Select was only willing to pay $200 because I did not have 3 years of service records. I had just bought the house that is the reason why I bought the warranty because I did not have the previous service history. I had my home inspection records that I could show that the heater was in good working condition and had been maintained, but they said that was not good enough. Every time I called I got more and more frustrated everybody you talk to is worse than the previous person. And you try to talk to a manager or try to elevate it it makes it even worse. I I've also reached out to the Better Business Bureau and submitting a claim through them. The worst part about this is I paid $2,000 for this policy for five years. I am not even one year into the policy and the most they will refund me is $500 if I cancel today. Buyers beware they make all kind of promises that they will not stand behind

Worst company ever. Pay my monthly fee so I have a home warrenty if anything goes wrong. Right!! Well my dishwasher wouldn't drain only 1 yr old missed manufacture warrenty by 2 weeks. Of course my luck. Called them out claim in the tech was suppose to come between 8-12. Never showed up. I went to work at 1:30 he comes at 5. I wasn't home. Talked to my kids wrote up the ticket amount to fix my dishwasher. Submitted it to warrenty company. 400 to fix dishwasher. He had his wife come to my house several days later to get the 100 deduct I owed him. 3 weeks later after 500 phones calls to warrenty company and tech I got the answer that the warrenty company was only going to pay 150 to fix my dishwasher and I was resposible for the rest so total 500-100 deductible - 150 from warrenty company I owe 250 out of pocket plus the 100 I already paid so total 350!!!! I have to pay. WTF. Why have a home warrenty if I have to pay out of pocket. So outcome I am beyond pissed. Dishwasher still broken, washing dishes by hand for 6 people. Canceled contract with the worst BS home warrenty company ever!!!!!

This company is an absolute joke. My dishwasher started leaking, after the service fee and the “alleged “ fix it was still leaking. Subsequent calls to the contractor yielded two appointments and they did not show up either time,I was furious. Next contractor (1.5 months later) says it needs a new pump and a new water sensor. Ok no problem-thiois why I have a warranty. HA! SHW says it costs too much to fix and offers me cash instead of replacing it. And get this-they offer me $175 for a 2 year old $1200 top of the line dishwasher. What an insult. They claim that the contract says replace with basic model. I assure you it does not. A search of the pdf contract has no results for the word basic. I complained to the BBB. I suspect these 5 star ratings must be fake.

One word TERRIBLE. Stay away, far away. I have been with them for 2+ years. Thought we had a extra safety. Far from that, 2 weeks my appliances have been down. Short story, with all the back and forth and then telling me that the compressor was not covered. I said cancel my policy, out of $350 dollars. I'm getting back $18, out $75 for cancellation, out $90 for the repair company to come out. Called LG directly, gave me 5 vendors to call. They are coming out on Saturday to repair. Advice, take the extended maintenance program out from the manufacturer. Read every line if you go with this company on what is covered. Customer service sucks and they will hang up on you if they start to hear you getting upset.

Had a,problem with garbage disposal. Plumber never showed up . I took the day off work waiting. I finally called but after hours so i couldnt reach anyone. I sent an email which was also sent to the contractor that was supposed to do the repair. He called me stated he came to my door ring the bell and no one was home. I told him I was here I took the day off work and waited. He said no I was wrong he was at my door and no one was home. I asked him to verify my address. He told me when I decide to have an adult conversation with him to call back. Keep in mind I just asked him to verify my address since he stated he Ring My Bell and I wasn't home. He said he tried to call multiple times in addition to ringing my bell. I went back through my call log and never received any calls from him. So, I was told I still need to pay for the estimate apparently there is a $100 deductible when someone comes out. I told them I'm not paying this because no one came. I was just informed that my warranty is suspended for lack of payment. Now confirming contractor never showed up no call no show. I called asked where the plumber was but couldn't get through. I called the second day, they told me he was there and I was paying for this service. I explained he wasn't. Poor customer service.

Had coverage for several years with very few service request until this year. Seems as though their contract's verbiage is misleading. Hot water heater says covered, however if it is leaking (due to rupture of tank) then it is not covered. Oven digital key pad when out, $125 reimbursement to replace due to depreciation, new cost $1400. Toilet tank cracked, not covered. Other toilet leaking, permitted repair, but no replacement which cost twice the amount of a new efficient model. Takes average of 2 months to be reimbursed after constant follow up. They put an age on all appliances and only want to reimburse according to their schedule. Glad others had good experiences with repair but replacement are another thing. Employees do a good job of disallowing claims.

Read the small print in your policy. They are not an honorable company. After the fact they request information and documentation for you to receive reimbursement. They paid $125 for repair or replacement of my three-year-old stainless steel inside and out dishwasher and it took me eight weeks to get the check. They directed me to get someone in to fix my heat and told me that they would reimburse me then Requested three years of maintenance records by a professional to receive payment. My son is a maintenance manager for an apartment complex and is a professional handyman. That does not qualify as a person who can maintain my heating and cooling system according to their standard. I will never do business with this company again and highly recommend that no one does

WORST OF THE WORST. No show from their contractor, after they informed me that my stove issue was least on their priorities over air-conditioner issues. I then cancelled my policy and sent a Certified Letter directly to Ely Gold who he said was the manager of a dept on 8/23/17. I had 2 POLICIES. I received one check for $1375.02 of which I prepaid for 5 yrs policy $1600. BUT I never received my other check which was said mailed at the same day for $1341.67 for a prepaid 5 yrs policy ALSO. I have to call them to resend me a check Butttt, until today's date 11/27/17, NO CHECK IN THE MAIL!!!! WORST COMPANY.

I wish I would have checked this reviews before I made the big mistake to buy a product with this crooks. The worst client service, the worst service ever . I'm frustrated and disgusted with this company. I will never ever would do business with them again. It is amazing that after all this complaints no one does anything and they are allowed to continue scamming and defrauding people that are just wanting to get their home warranty insurance . Like most of the reviews that are posted here I had similar experience after having the policy with them over 2 years and not needing it until the first time that I needed for an A/C issue of course they came up with all the excuses they could find to not pay the claim. They also send a mediocre company to check our A/C and of course we have to pay the $45 he said it was a freon leak and of course SHW denied the claim. We hired our own company and we ended up having to change the air handler and cost us over $ 1,200 . Not sure what is it that they cover cause they sure didnt cover anything we had to do to the A/C . After getting nothing out of that policy and seeing that is useless I canceled my 3 year policy and was told that they would send me a refund within 30 days. That was in August 8th of 2017 and after 7 calls and being told all different things every time I called and being put on hold for over 45 minutes and I could go on . After almost 3 months later I get a refund check for the wrong amount . I cant explain the frustration but I hope that lots of people read this and do not get ripped off or scammed like all of us here did. I wish they would change the rating system and I had the choice of choosing something below 1 start if it was up to me I would rate negative below 1 start . One start is too much for them.

Anyone tells you to try Select Home Warranty... Run!! Worst company imaginable! Very deceptive practices. Processed a legit claim (Bering's went out) for a 2,000.00 stackable washer and dryer and they offered me $150.00! The sales man who sold me this policy never mentioned a waiting period nor what they referred to as a 30 day start up, rest period. Then the 60 day (no claim ) police starts. I missed it by 2 days. I said then really this is not a 12 month police I just paid for, its a 9 month policy. She said that's why we give you an extra 2 months. Before you buy... read the fine print. This all took start to finish 50 days. Never use this company!!!
