We like not having to worry about getting home systems fixed, however CHW has struggled in the past to find companies that service SE CT. In this case the offer to let you find your own tech, however the process is cumbersome requiring the tech to visit, diagnose the problem then wait for CHW to decide whether they are going to authorize the repair. Finally, if they decide to replace an appliance, it may take some time to get the payment from them (be prepared to buy out of pocket and wait for them to send you the funds.

The repair person came on time and replaced the garbage disposal. However, when I ran the dishwasher, the water gushed out of the air gap on top of the sink, flooding the counter and floor.! When I called him to report this, he immediately knew what he failed to do and returned the next day to do a quick fix, removing a small plug.

I like the initial process for opening a claim, but it seems the contractors have issues being able to handle a repair in one visit. They come, assess, then have to get approval, and the repairs take days or weeks to complete. I've had to make follow up calls with Choice and that shouldn't be part of the process.

Very disappointed in the handling of the last 2 claims. 1st claim ended without completing the repairs of the appliance. The CHW assigned technician worked on the appliance twice. After the 2nd time he told us there was another part that needed to be changed to complete the repair. The technician then reported to CHW that the repairs were complete and the claim was closed. When I questioned this, CHW informed me that there was no recourse other than to submit another claim & if I cancelled my coverage there is no rebate on the unused premium. Surprise! In previous communication with CHW I was told that I could select a repair company and have them assigned to a claim. I submitted a 2nd claim to repair the appliance that included the name of a repair service. CHW ignored my request and assigned a repair company for the claim. I obviously cancelled the appointment with the assigned repair service and had the repairs completed by the company I selected. Just as a note, the 2nd repair technician found that the parts installed by the CHW assigned technician were either the wrong parts or incorrectly installed or both. By this time the broken appliance had been out of service for close to 2 weeks so time was of the essence and I moved forward with getting the machine repaired. When I requested information on submitting the invoice from the 2nd repair service to be reimbursed I was told that since I did not have prior approval my claim was denied. No thanks to CHW the appliance is now working properly and my wife is happy. It's a great day!

The plumber did a great job. The voice activated service request system got the trade specialist correct, but was somewhat limited on ability to capture details of the request. This did not impact the quality work to fix the issues. Very satisfied with this service.

The technician they sent out was very nice and professional. He checked my stove and gave me the diagnosis which was not good. But when it came time to get the offer from choice home warranty it was way to low to replace my stove. In the end I am a dissatisfied customer because in my opinion they didn't do what the representative that sold it to me said they would do and when I complained they said it was in the contract. Again in my opinion if you say replace you should get the same brand you had with the same features. I had the warranty for two years and this was my first time using it.

The cost of the warranty isn't bad and $45 fee for the house-calls is good. Fortunately I haven't had to use it much but that's good too. Its good to know its there if I need it. Making a claim is easy and the follow-up is good.

I made a claim for a water heater. Mine was 20 years old and started to leak. CHW was going get a new water heater and pay the contractor $220.00 for install. CHW stated I would be responsible for the rest totaling $455.00 plus I already paid $65.00 service fee. My issue: CHW could not tell me what brand name water heater they were going to buy. CHW could not tell me what the additional $455.00 was for. What CHW to understand is I did not choose contractor, CHW did. CHW wanted me to work with the contractor to determine what the other cost was for. I was told by CHW, the contractor does not work for us, I can't make them do something. At the end of the day, CHW chose the contractor, not me. Very poor customer service by CHW and the case manager they assigned me. I would have given them a 1, but I have them a 2 since they did stay engaged even though I did not like the outcome.

With a lot of good things about choice warranty, there are few things which can bother any body. The selection of professionals should also be among the priorities of Choice. Last time, for my dishwasher repair, a perfectly incompetent professional was sent to my home. This guy couldn’t pull out the dishwasher from its slot, what to say of diagnosing the problem. All that he wanted was his visit fee.

CHW’s service and responses are really great but the way they are picking random contractors is not good. Contractor don’t provide the service as CHW promise and and pay. It would be great to see contractors who works for CHW instead picked from road without responsibility.

Response to my service request was very good, and the tech that responded was very knowledgeable. He found that the thermostat was defective. The installed thermostat was a programable, wifi enabled unit. Choice was not willing to replace it with anything more that a "builder grade" unit. Seems to me a little cheap!

Choice is very unprofessional about responding back to people they blame everything due to the Covid it and other companies are picking up and starting to process their consumers and new customers items and choices Steel dragging on with the same excuse when people are in need of something being fixed I’m very disappointed in the customer service I’ve only had it for aboutSix months now and had to call on two items and each time there has been a substantial amount of a wait time to have something repaired they need to research and looking today and change that

At this point I cannot give a positive review about Choice Home Warranty. I submitted a claim. The next week I was notified by CHW of the time and date of the service provider coming to my home. The following week I received a call from the service provider stating that the appointment set by CHW was not good and I was scheduled for the following week. When the service tech arrived he evaluated the situation and determined I need a part to rectify the problem with the refrigerator. He told me he would submit the request to CHW, and if approved, CHW would order the part. I would then be notified when the work would be completed . He estimated that this could take 3-4 weeks. So, by the time I reported the problem until the problem will be resolved could take up to a total of 6-8 weeks. To me, this is not an acceptable time frame. Alan Freeman

I am disappointed with Choice. When I first signed up, the representative deducted the entire annual amount from my account without my permission. That was strike one. I have not had to use the service until now, but when I called, the appointment they scheduled was more than a week later! The technician was excellent, but Choice was not. After scheduling the appointment I realized I had a second plumbing issue and wanted to add that to the visit. When I called Choice to amend the visit, the recorded voice said it would be a long wait and offered to keep my place in line and call me back when a representative was available. I opted for the call back. No one called and when I called back they were closed! I reached a representative the next morning and she said she added the new problem to the visit, but it was not communicated to the technician who had to make calls himself before he could proceed. This was strike two for Choice with me. Not sure I will renew for strike 3.

However,, The Technician (Sean) that came out was excellent, I would recommend Power Electrical & Design to anyone needing an electrician. Very professional and knowledgeable.

First off my first few experiences were not great as once I called a tech over they said that is wasn't covered under the warranty, (wobbly toilet and toilet flange). Second when I had renewed the sales rep put me in the wrong category even though I paid for it and they said it was the ultimate and when I needed a repair done I found out that my appliance wasn't covered due to an internal error. When I tried to resolve it and asked them to call me back, they rarely did so I did the calling. But with this last service they actually sent a better tech than I had for the past two.

On 03/27/2021, we filed a claim due to our washing machine making a loud noise when operating. On 03/31/2021 a repair technican came to our home and advised the transmission in our washing machine needed to be replaced. He recorded the noise for Choice Warranty to make an evaluation of our situation. He related due to the age of the washing machine it was highly likely Choice Warranty would choose to replace the washing machine. On 03/31/2021, we were advised Choice Warranty had decided to replace the washing machine instead of replacing the transmission in our inoperable machine. Choice Warranty emailed an offer of $350.00 in the form of a Lowe's eGift Cards based on our current system's features and capacity, to select the system of our choice. Upon accepting the offer of $350.00 we were advised the Lowe's eGift Card would arrive within the next 30 days. Later on 03/31/2021, we contacted Choice Warranty to advise we were unsuccessful in finding a washing machine at Lowe's comparable to ours that would not take at least two weeks for delivery. However, we were successful in finding a washing machine at Home Depot and Best Buy which was available for delivery within 72 hour. Therefore, we were requesting just a Gift Card which could be used at Home Depot, Best Buy or any other appliance store. Choice Warranty advised the $350.00 eGift Card could only be issued for Lowe's and if we chose to purchase a washing machine from some other establishment we could do so, but Choice Warranty would not issue a eGift Card towards the washing machine replacement from any other establishment. To date, 04/11/2021 nearly two weeks later, "we have not received the $350.00 eGift Card" which could only be used at Lowe's. Therefore, we had to purchase a washing machine for $800 "without the assistance of Choice Warranty." When a customer is without a major appliance such as dishwasher, washing machine stove, refrigerator or dryer it is inconceivable Choice Warranty would expect their customers to wait for 30 days to replace a major appliance and have the audacity to dictate where the replacement appliance has to be purchased. We have two home warranties with Choice Warranty (one on your major resident and summer home in Va Beach which we pay in full yearly. Someone reading this may say we could afford to replace the washing machine without having the $350.00 promised by Choice Warranty. The money is not the key issue here. Dictating where the replacement item has to be purchased and taking 30 days to provide the funds to replace a major item is unacceptable. If we had absolutely needed the $350.00 to replace our washing machine we would have been using a laundromat for the past two weeks which is unacceptable. We will not be renewing our two homeowner warranties when they expire with Choice Warranty Company.
