The premise behind getting a home warranty is a great idea, but only if it actually works and is useful. I have been w/out a fully functioning washer now for close to 2 months. Technician #1 was prompt and communicated well the situation, was even able to get it functioning partially while we waited for parts. Unfortunately one part is no longer available, he recommended replacement. CHW didn't agree and assigned tech #2. Tech #2 hasno showed/no call and not even an acknowledgment of receiving my messages. So here I sit w no washer and it is being assigned to yet another company. Not worth the hassle. For my stove claim they were very prompt but the problem is you have to wait for parts, and as luck would have it, the part sent was defective, so had to reorder and without the use of it for another week. Seems like it will be less stressful to put the money spent on the warranty into a rainy day fund and just speak directly to the repair companies.

I am thankful that my HVAC unit was replaced. The guys that did the work - from EMS - were terrific! Very happy with new unit. What I am not happy about is the lack of paperwork; invoices, warranties, itemized list of costs and the dollar amount CHW actually covered. It was still a significant out-of-pocket expense for me, but again, I'm thankful for the new unit and great work done. Thank you.

I liked the way the service technician was able to check our washer out within 2 weeks of notifying you that the washer was not working correctly. After he examined it and determined that he could no longer get the correct parts, he notified CHW. And, within 5 minutes, we were told that CHW would pay for a new washer for replacement.

I had to have a heating unit replaced and I did not know the time frame would take so long. Right now, it's cold and I have no heat. When I called they did send a technician out, and the technician told me what was going on and that my unit would have to be replaced. And that was about 2 weeks ago and the only thing I can find out now is that the unit has been ordered, but they can't tell me when it would get here for the technician to install the unit. So I am not happy right now.

The last time we used it was to unclog the toilet. But about 30 to 45 days the toilet quit working again and the company was called, and they said it had been 31 days and we would have to go back through the warranty company again. All in all it's been a good experience. That's the one thing.

Toward the end of last summer, they sent someone here to fix my dryer and he said it needed a certain part. He was going to order it and I never heard from him ever again. But my dryer was working after he left, my dryer was working okay, everything was fine, so I just didn't contact Choice again.

We discovered a leak in the basement, and we couldn't tell where it was coming from. So we called up Choice, and they wanted to send a representative, or a plumber out 3 days later. And it took a lot of convincing to get them to understand that it was a leak and that it had to be fixed now because it was dripping all over the place. We finally got them to come out the same day, but the plumber couldn't find the source of the leak. And so, we cut two holes in the wall of my laundry room and I got charged $90 a piece for those, in addition to the $85 service call fee. I didn't think that was right that I should have to pay for those holes to be cut in my wall. Then the follow-up to that is trying to get those holes repaired, I called up Choice again. And they sent out a drywall person who patched the holes and put the mud on them and then didn't sand it or paint it and I can't get down on the floor with my new knee to be able to finish the job. So I got charged another $85 call for someone to do half the job and was willing to quote me on finishing the job, which should have been part of this all along. So both things got attended to, but they weren't done right. And I kept on getting these requests from first the plumber and then the drywall guy for extra fees that weren't supposed to happen after my $85 service fee.

Getting service right away was hard. Recently, it seems to have improved a little bit, but initially, like $25,000 in damage in the basement because of the delay, in getting the sump pump and the the water heater. Once broke and it took like 3 days to get it repaired. And then the other one had broken and so by the time, everything was all said and done, giving a lot of damage, but thankfully I'm well insured, so it's all covered. Since then though they've come right away. The most recent one which followed the garbage disposal. They were here within a day and before I even said something, they were not only there, they placed it right on the spot and it was done.

I have two accounts with you right now. One for a home in Florida and one here for my home in Pennsylvania. I had a refrigerator go bad. I had the repairman come out. I paid the amount that I had to give him. He looked at it and he said this cannot be repaired. And I saw that too. And it had to be replaced. And I was under the impression when I signed up for both of these contracts and I had a contract year before this for a home in North Carolina, but I was told it was going to be replaced. My refrigerator was not replaced. I was given a customer service woman that I had to talk to concerning that because I did not accept what they were giving me. I paid $2,300 for the refrigerator. And I was supposed to be given 900 and some dollars, which I still have not gotten yet after 3 weeks. She said it would take a while, but it's over 3 weeks, and I still don't have a penny. I had to go out with my own money and buy a new refrigerator. I said, why are you only giving me 900 and some dollars for a refrigerator that's over $2,000? She says because we found out that people, if we replace the refrigerator, they don't like it, and they have a different choice. So we decided to just give them the money. I said this is half of what I need. She said, told me to go to American Freight that they have refrigerators there, that I can get cheaper, they might have dings on them, or they might be okay, and that can replace it. I did all of the research on American Freight, and they are a shoddy company, they screw you over. If the refrigerator doesn't work, you're stuck with it. They ignore the call. Somebody you don't want to deal with. So I'm back to paying the full amount on my refrigerator. I feel bad because I took Choice. After all, it was rated the number one warranty company. And I'm disappointed for that. And I'd love to know where my check is for the refrigerator. And I still don't know why I don't get the full amount to get my even close to the full amount to get my refrigerator replaced.

I used the warranty the last time my heating went out. It was very cold outside and I was given the wrong information, information that was canceled out. But it was not canceled out, I was called by mistake. It was a little confusing with my scheduled appointment. It was canceled, but it wasn't canceled and I had to go out and purchase the heater because of the length of time that it was supposed to have taken, which it did not. But the gentleman who came to work on my heat was very pleasant. He arrived and we did repair the heat. And he was very helpful in pointing out a couple of things for me. And I was I was happy with him.

Everybody's been receptive and never had an issue when we call. The heating mechanism in our dryer gave out, and everything no matter what setting it was on, was too hot to even touch the outside of the machine. We couldn't use it without burning our hands. So we called and they sent somebody out right away and got it repaired.

I recently had a claim for a couple of leaky faucets, one in the kitchen and one in the bathroom. And I just assume since you know, it's a leaky faucet, one plumber coming, but they charged me twice for two visits, and I had to pay the deductible twice. They said it was considered a separate work order. We got quick service but during the summer a few years ago, we had a little longer wait about 5 days before they could get somebody here, but it was understandable during the summertime.

When I call they're always there for me, and usually, if they can't fix the product, they replace the product. I just used my warranty about a couple of weeks ago for my air conditioner. Okay. I have been getting my dryer fixed. I think I have had 7 or 8 incidents on the dryer. The dryer should have been marked out as I'm still waiting for them to first try to low-bomb me with the money. And then I haven't even received it yet, just terrible, and I had to go back and forth for that feature. It was just ridiculous. When I first had Choice Home Warranty, when I made a claim, the people came out in 24 to 48 hours. Now it's taken forever to get a provider.

My condo had a significantly undersized air conditioning system. Condo needed a 3 ton system (heat pump and air handler) but only had a 2.5 ton system because previous owners were cheap and were renting out the condo. When the time came to replace the system because the coil of the heat pump had a leak, I knew we needed a 3 ton system. CHW had no idea what system was in the condo until the service company they picked to service our complaint told them, and CHW did not establish our premium based on the characteristics of the installed HVAC system . CHW said it would only purchase a 2.5 ton system and would not let me pay the relatively small amount required to upgrade from a 2.5 ton system to a 3 ton system, or to upgrade to a variable speed air handler. Furthermore, I had a Carrier system and expected CHW to replace it with a Carrier or equivalent since they were sticklers about not upgrading from 2.5 to 3 ton. They were going to buy a Goodman system. Rather than be condemned to an inadequate HVAC system, I bit the bullet, refused their money and bought a new 3 ton Carrier system. The contractor refused to do the work for what CHW was offering the contractor so I paid the nominal amount CHW was going to pay me to the contractor, which meant I got nothing from CHW. All of that happened during the coldest days of the 2022-2023 winter. We waited about 45 days for the work to be done and lived off the inadequate heat from the undersized auxiliary heat pack and several electric space heaters. It also cost an extra $1500 plus some plaster work to install the heavier electrical cable needed to support the higher KW auxiliary heating element. My overall experience is that CHW does not, at least initially, hire the more qualified service contractors. I had a stacked washer/dryer unit in which the washer stopped pumping out. Each of the contractors they sent said it would be prudent to replace the unit because the repair would be costly, they were not certain what it needed and by the time they figured it out it would be better to buy a new machine. CHW resisted those recommendations through 4 different repair companies, serially reassigning the work to a new contractor for a period of about 45 days during which time I made at least 3 trips to a laundromat. Finally, after about 45 days, they relented and, of course, only provided less than half the cost of the replacement washer and dryer. I purchased separate washer and dryer units that could be stacked but did not share controls. It is taking about 2 months to repair the water/ice dispenser on our refrigerator, which needs a new microswitch and pressure plate. Sears arranged for the part to come but then said they didn't have a technician available to install it for almost a month. The switch is poorly designed and needs to be changed about every two years. No matter how good you might be at diagnosing the problem, CHW always seems to send out someone who knows nothing more than the item (e.g., AC, refrigerator) needing repair. They do not seem to know what the problem is although you clearly explained it in the claim report, and they never have the needed part. And they have no process for expediting a part and having you pay the extra shipping costs. I could see that the first technician sent out to repair the water/ice dispenser had no idea what he was doing and sent him away before he broke the refrigerator. The second team that came out knew exactly what it was doing (apparently a senior tech and a trainee), but didn't have the necessary parts.

There was an unacceptable wait time I don't know why there was such a long wait time (more than 48 hours)before I was notified that there were no Choice accepted technicians available. During this time the plumbing problem I had escalated. When I was finally allowed to call someone on my own, the process for reimbursement extended over another 72 hours, necessitating that I have the company I contracted with go ahead without authorization from Choice. This resulted in a protracted, sometimes heated, discussion with Choice service personnel. I was finally helped to provide, on the proper site, the information needed. At this point, I am hoping to see a check from Choice for reimbursement. I am concerned that perhaps, for some reason, Choice does not have a good relationship with service technicians (at least in my area), and that is why it takes so long to get a response on who could be servicing my needs. Still, the company HAS at least to this point, covered the service calls, acccording to the coverage contract. So I have to give them that, even though I had to fight for it a couple of times.

I've used it probably 3 or 4 times. They offer a monetary amount like they used to, now you just get a gift card to Lowe's and you don't talk to anybody. I don't think their customer service is very good. I don't think they give you a fair return when something goes wrong. And you're still paying a service call on top of that. So it's not really worth the money I spend over the year for those few things that happen.

i am still waiting for Sears repair people to repair my sive And oven. the order went out to them the last week of December 2023. long story. 1st day ended up being a no show. 2nd time, they didnt have the parts. scheduled out anither date for repair at the last week of January. 38tj came and went and again another no show. no phone # to speak to an actual person and there records have my old phone # from 3 years ago. I tried to go on line to change it but their system wont change the #. tried to speak to them virtually but when you send the message it comes back that its unable to process your request at this time, try later. I did have a part for the stove delivered to my house over the weekend, but i am unable to reach them to let them know. i keep checking my emails but nothing yet. Crazy right?

The only issue I have so far are that I have not typically been able to choose my own repair person. One is randomly selected for me, not always the best choice since I live here and know who is good and who is awful. The one exception is the plumbing work we had to have done as a result of a stopped up drain line. It couldn’t be snaked so the plumber had to replace that line due to the age of the plumbing used previously. He submitted the claim as he stood beside me when he evaluated the issue. I never have heard back from Choice about whether or not I will be reimbursed for the work done. We had filed the claim and I see the record of it, we chose the repair person since Choice couldn’t locate one, he submitted the needed digital paperwork, so to me, as a customer making a claim, it seems like Choice is dodging the payment. Communication is key to avoid misunderstanding and no one from Choice has communicated with us.

Sears came out and checked the fridge and told me what was wrong with it and said they would get back swith me. After 3 weeks I had not heard anything. I called choice and was told that it was not covered because it was my secondary refrigerator.. They could not tell me how much it would cost to repair it--said that Sears was supposed to have told me I expected it to be covered because it was the only fridge I had made a claim on. I thought the first one I made a claim on would be covered and that I could not make aclaim on a second one. It would have benefitted Choice to cover this one because it was a simmple fix and my very old "primary" refrigerator wwould cost a lot mor if it had to be replaced. I am disappointed because of that and because nobody called me to tell me that it was not covered and Sears did not tell me how much the repair would cost. Now if Sears comes out to fix it I will have to pay a diagnostic fee even though they have already diagnosed it. In spite of these problems, I still think this is a good company.

No hassle concerning current claim. Some claims a couple of years ago they could not find a service provider and then I paid for it myself and they denied the claims. Past two claims in the past 18 months were very well handled. It is my understanding there is new management which why things are now better for the policy holder.
