I used my warranty for the first time in 18 months and what a joke. My sump pump went out flooding my basement. They sent out Crown Services and tech came into my home looked, said he would be right back and left. Heard later from AHS that he had no access to the sump pump and for $500 they could cut out the kitchen to provide access. When I tried to contact the vendor no response, AHS tried to contact vendor no response as what I needed to do. During this 3 week process every time it rained my basement flooded. Had my contractor come out to look at the "access" issue and he said no problem he could fix it. I bought a sump pump and he put it in that day. AHS would not pay for the pump or the contractors bill. Tried to cancel AHS and apparently I am locked into a one year contract. Asked to be taken off auto renew and they stated that was not an option. The vendors they use are subpar, have spent over 4 hours on the phone multiple times to get an answer of "no we wont pay. "

AS used to be good. But not anymore. They pay $10 for R410 refrigerant in Air Conditioning systems when the retail price for this refrigerant is $90-$120. Many of the technicians thru AHS dont do a through job. In other words, they dont go to attic and check evaporator coils. They simply recommend to refill the refrigerant. My AC is broken for 5 days now. AHS is still estimating the coverage. Other example is, if you have patterned dry wall, AHS contractors provide just plain dry wall. They dont do patterns. All in all, i wouldnt recommend AHS or any warranty company. I tried SELECT. that is even worse than AHS. It is an expensive deal. I pay $73 every month, $125 for each service call and they dont cover everything. Its not worth it.

The worst possible company on par with the likes of Comcast. Consider the math here. Monthly Premium is roughly $68 for a ShieldPlatinum, in that you get coverage of Roof Leaks along with a "boost" of a maximum of $6000 per covered item under the Appliance Category. AHS has the right to refuse repair or replacement if you cannot prove you did "routine maintenance" on the Appliance, which costs at minimum $75 if you get it done through AHS. Math: $68/month * 12 = $816 Trade Fee = 100 per Incident Say 2 of your appliances need replacement: Fridge (top of the line is somewhere around $3000) and a Dishwasher (top of line is probably $1000). That means you "saved" roughly $4000 for a yearly premium ($816) + 2 Trade Service Fees ($200) = $1016. A new Refrigerator or Dishwasher will come with a excellent warranty usually for at least 3 years. Say you have to do replace your appliances every 3 years. You would have paid $2,636 in premiums and trade fees ($816*3 + $200). Do that math in your head, do you think its worth it dealing with a worst rated company for $1000? And you can do a fairly detailed analysis if you want, but with the limits imposed (e.g. maximum of $1500 for Air Conditioning and Duct Work) and the limitations and the right of refusal in case they determine the item has not been maintained properly, its a complete rip off. And, consider you have a leak somewhere which is not visible. They will assign a 3rd rated contractor who will give you an appointment at least a week after you called (they won't come over the weekends, even in case of an emergency). Good luck trying to get service in time before major damage is done and you ended up doing damage worth more than $6000!! I have had AHS off and on for 2 years. It came with the townhome I bought and then I paid premiums for about 1 year. In that period, I had to get a plumber to come in and clear some blockage. The plumber came and literally told me that a toilet seat needed replacement, which AHS started questioning. In the end, even that contractor told me it would be easier and he was willing to do it cheaper if I just get it done through them. It cost me about $700 in addition to what I had already paid AHS. And god forbid you have a roof leak. AHS will only cover about $1500 (max benefit) to repair or replace the roof and any damage done. Roof leaks are usually covered under the Homeowners Insurance anyway! Its just a ridiculous business model and I have no idea why people keep falling for it. I am more than ready to be convinced if someone has had a great experience and the math worked out in their favor. Otherwise STAY AS FAR AWAY AS POSSIBLE.

A a new customer of this company i was not please. My address was entered in the system incorrectly and was not corrected even though I told them before my contract was active. It was ignored. The customer service workers don’t listen to what you have to say . They can be polite but if they are ignoring and not addressing your concerns then you are not helpful. As of now I still have not received my contract .

They’re a horrible company. Our fridge broke and was covered by their policy and after a weeks worth of calls they finally got someone to investigate it and look at it. They said it was so obviously broken that they would t cover it despite me reading to them verbatim from their own policy that explained how it absolutely WAS a covered problem. They refused to get their supervisor back on the phone and they refused to reopen the claim and cover it. We had to replace the whole fridge because they wouldn’t fix it and I’ve hated this company since. I hope everyone there who helps them screw customers over gets what’s coming to them.

absolutely awful, bordering on criminal. Their sales department is extremely aggressive and will call and call and call, even when you indicate over and over again that you prefer to communicate by email. Their agents are all overseas. When you have a claim, they are disorganized as can be, calling you back over and over again to tell you the same information. But the real problem is the obstacles they throw up to make it as difficult as possible to get a repair done. They handcuff their vendors into a insurmountable sea of red tape. One service company even told me "I see the problem and I know how to fix it. If you were a 'normal customer,' I would do XYZ, but for AHS I can't. They won't reimburse me for that. You have to call them." And call them I did...over and over and over again, trying to resolve my mechanical issue. My repeat requests to speak to a supervisor or escalate the case in some way fell on deaf ears. Finally I paid someone else to make the repair directly and cancelled the policy. Now their sales department STILL keeps calling me and calling me and calling me, even after I have made it 100% clear in writing and voice that I want nothing to do with them. AWFUL COMPANY. STAY AWAY.

Horrible Company if you need a big Item replaced, they will make sure they send the same type of contractors to "diagnose" or damage your system to AHS needs, my working AC was not cooling enough, first contractor arrived and "found" cables outside and noted the damage was "surge" witch AHS do not cover, send second contractor, noted more damage, cables disconnected, trash bag inside and motor locked...note this unit was working a week earlier, just not cooling enough. AHS denied claim now using "abuse" so, they sent a contractor that damaged the unit, a second contractor that verified first damaged the unit, then denied the claim even tho the dispatch CLEARLY states NORMAL wear and tear... their responses... we will refund you $100 and you can take the contractor to court... I bet the claims dept make their quota on denied claims...funny thing, if you look at those contractors in other review sites, many people have similar incidents with AHS, I think we need to start a class action lawsuit, this is not isolated.

Signed up with this service, 4 months later had water heater issue, filed a claim. after 7 days with no hot water and hearing nothing back on when we could expect a technician, a phone call was placed to AHS, Wthin a few hours of the phone a contractor was scheduled, I had to call the technician myself, schedule the appointment. Which was done so for the very next day. The technician NEVER SHOWED UP, then would not answer the phone. I then reached back out to AHS and all I was able to do was leave a message. I never received a callback, absolutely no communication, worst customer service I ever experienced and after 7 days without hot water we decided to just call a local company and get the issue resolved. It was costly and for one on a fixed income, it was very hard. But had no choice. After getting the issues resoved on our own, I immediately CANCELLED this service... 3 days later we get a call from them saying they were going to get someone out right away. Then 4 days later we get a call asking to give them a second chance. This was denied and the contract was cancelled promptly. I would caution anyone looking for this type service. I would NOT recommend this one to my worst enemy.

I loved American Home Shield, but they have let me down. I set up a repair call on Mar. 29. Sears is the contractor, and they sent A & E Factory Service on Apr. 5th, and they had to order a part. It came here several days later. An appt. was set for Apr. 28 to install the part. I received a text at 1:59 pm that my appt. was rescheduled for May 10. I received a text on May 10 that my appt is rescheduled for May 19. I called AHS and complained. Why can't they send someone else to repair my washer? Because A&E ordered a part, they are the ones to fix it. Meanwhile, I still need my washer repaired---Mar 29th to now May 19th.

These comments are directed at Ambient Air, Dispatch # 215822988. My AC quit working on Easter, 9th of Apr 2023. They showed up a couple of days later which was great. The issue was a Control Board that when bad and they would have to order it. Well, it took 2 weeks to get the part (In this day and age, that is ridiculous). Once they showed back up turns out that the Control Board didn't work. and they would have to order another one. In the meantime, the technician said he could re-wire the system so at least the AC would work (something the first guy didn't do) and then he pulled the new thermostat that the first guy had installed (why I don't know) and re-installed my Nest Thermostat. So, you guess it, 2 weeks later I had not heard from Ambient Air so I called them to see where we were at. They were really surprised and ask what was left to do. They were under the impression that the work order was closed. I told them I was still waiting on the Control Board. Eventually the issue was figured out and they finally came out and fixed it. So, the work order finally closed on 9 May 2023. So, 4 weeks... a little bit long

I paid for the coverage in the beginning and it was not cheap. When I needed something checked, I paid the him for his house call but It took a long time to get that repairman to my house. Once he came and a replacement was necessary, once again it took a long time to get that repairman to my house. When the man who was coming to my house to actually do the work I was told there were certain parts that were not covered by American Home Shield, I either I had to go purchase them myself or in some cases just paid his company (3rd cost to me) for the necessary part. When the part arrival and the repair company's matched, a repair was made but the repairman marred the part (such as a microwave which I see every day) . Whole program just not as wonderful as it is advertised to be.

Overall the peace of mind that having a home warranty brings is very helpful. My only issue is that the package price that I have just went up $25 per month and I've rarely used the services. I know that I've been fortunate, however, AHS has gotten much more money from me than I have utilized in repairs or services. So to have my monthly cost go up is a bit of a struggle. It does seem as though the vendors that AHS has been using recently are much more reliable than in the past which is a great plus.

All has been going well until the last service call in February 2023. The first tech did not complete the job but the second one did explain and completer the first part of a two-part he did unfreeze the frozen water in my refrig and it worked okay for about a week then it started leaking all over again. I had given the second guy a good report because he deserved it, however, After contacting customer service regarding the leaking no one got back to me. I am going to try again after completing this survey.

In the last year I have had to replace both my HVAC and water heater. I've been a AHS customer for 29 years. I paid out $8300 for AC replacement and $1400 for water heater. Through numerous attempts to determine what AHS paid on these I have been unsuccessful. My contract renews on 6/2/23. The monthly cost has gone up 50% in the last 2 years from $61.99 to 93.99. All of this causes me to question the value of using AHS.

We have several accounts with American home shield. This last request was a mess. The assigned company failed to come out and via text without contacting us changed the date of the repair appointment twice via text. " Your repair appointment was rescheduled to 'Date and time.' " Their phone number directed to use online scheduling. I could only reschedule when I just wanted to know why my confirmed appointment was changed. When we called AHS they too could not get though to A &E repair. It took over a weekAfter seeking the $125 refund from AHS, it was refunded. I am hesitant to seek request again for the problem. It was so frustrating, I'm considering just buying a new appliance. Not amazing this time.

Sometimes takes 2-4 visits before problem solved , water heater 2-3 weeks. That's a long time without hot water. Just found out a 2 nd leak in upstairs bathroom . Found 1st contractor did not correct properly, Covered the hole in pipe with plastic And tape.

It is not a good value for the price. You pay as much for the service call as you would pay for a regular technician. They don't cover hardly anything on real issues - ie foundation leak. They don't tell you when you call that they don't change out toilet wax rings/reseat toilets as a part of the service when that is a needed repair. The agent will send someone out after you have already paid the service fee and then you are told it is not covered.

I HAD been very happy, and had recommended to friends .. however recently had a serious customer service issue that AHS did not attempt to resolve. Last Summer I subscribed to the PlatinumShield policy mainly because I am concerned about my A/C. However, in the Fall I reluctantly scheduled furnace inspection with the repeated assurance by AHS rep that I was entitled to a free inspection BOTH seasons. I unfortunately discovered that I actually only get one free inspection per year, and thus have had to pay for a contractor to inspect my A/C. I contacted AHS about my frustrations, and got a lot of apologetic shrugs with no attempt to correct the situation. Hopefully their agents will be better trained to offer accurate benefits information going forward.

I paid your co-pay 3 times to fix an electrical problem in my home. None of these electricians would fix the problem, saying it didn’t need fixing. But it did need to be fixed. The 4th time my electricity gave out, I simply called a company myself and paid cash. They fixed it for under $200. Similar occurrence such as this happened, but the electrical problem was the biggest pain.

Overall all claims were completed successfully, though sometimes the communication (or miscommunication) between AHS and the contractors slowed down processes. The monthly cost rose too high for me to continue using AHS, but otherwise I had few complaints.

AHS needs to "vet" the repair people they contract better, as Appliance Guard Pro told them that the repair they were doing for me was complete, and it WASN'T. I waited during the time frame for my repair appt. on April 6, and the repairman never showed up. I left several voicemails and texts to Appliance Guard Pro and NEVER got a response. I finally gave up and called in another repairman from another company, who promptly got the job done for me. I never could reach AHS online to complain about their contracted repair company.

I am pleased with the service offered but the price increases are just too much. New contract is 20 dollars more a month PLUS 15 dollars more per contract call. When I first became a customer 4 years ago, my appliances were super old so I had more of a reason to think something would go out. Which they did. It's making less financial sense to keep the home warranty with these increases. The price when I joined 4 years ago was 500 for the year. It has more than doubled. I fully recognize prices increase but this is a pretty steep price jump.

Representatives are always polite and pleasant; however, i don't believe that all representatives are knowledgeable as to resoultion of problems. Ie: when I asked to speak with a supervisor, the rep did not know the supervisor's name nor how to reach him/her. Another rep did know and followed your procedure. I am happy that a supervisor has not only called me, but has remained in contact with me to ensure that resolution will be reached.

We have subscribed for years and for 3 or 4 homes over those years. AHS has lived up to their commitments. Sometimes the contractor has not been experienced enough to identify and fix the root problem but, ultimately, our issues have been resolved.

I was extremely disappointed that I was turned down to have my air conditioning air ducts in the attic serviced. The company you sent out, the service man told me that all the ducts in the attic had holds in them from animals. I can not go up the ladder to check it out myself. I had several repairmen and others look up in the attic no one seen what the repairman seen. I recently had my a/c repair the man said there was a heavy box filled with xmas ornaments on the pipe of the unit in the attic. I feel that because of the first repairman and I have it on record that this company can not come to my house again. I have AHS for 20 years and always was happy with the service. Now I am doubtful every time I call for service. I need my a/c outside unit serviced but at this time I can not afford to call for service. The beginning of 2023 was a hardship on my finances with all the service calls. The repairmen that was sent this year were excellent and professional. I am being honest about my reply to this survey.

Service was good and fast response from the plumber but I didn't know that my plan did not pay to bring things up to new codes I was told that it was just the deductible cost and that's it. Well if It would have been explained correctly the next plan up would have done that.

Most of the time they make the repairs needed or give you a new product. On our microwave, they didn’t get it all the way back to working. They couldn’t get the clock working, so they said that it was unnecessary for the microwave to work.
