I am not happy with UHC and will be looking for a new provider. UHC does not care for its members. We are paying lot of money from out of packet. I would not recommend them to any one. I would like to give zero rating. It's very Horrible Horrible experience with UHC.
After receiving LTD for about a year, I just received a letter that they wanted almost all of the money they paid me returned. $27650.00! When I was injured at work, I received STD for about 6 months and when that ran out and I could no longer work at any light-duty posts at work, I was forced to choose between retiring early or being terminated and losing my health insurance benefits. I chose to retire early. I could still survive but it would be tight. I got a call from UHC Specialty Benefits who handled the STD claim. She was asking me about LTD and I told her that I just put in my retirement papers so, thinking that was going to be the end of our conversation, she went on to tell me that I could still collect my pension and receive LTD up to 100% of my Pre-Disability salary. I said, "Sign me up!". Big mistake. After a year I got a letter stating that they had made an error and my pension offset my LTD payments and they overpaid me over $27,000. That was roughly 80% of what they actually paid me. So now that I had already spent the money, I had to borrow from family and they have made my life very difficult. I have no legal recourse since I guess it is in the policy that they can do this. They are the most dishonest,deceitful,incompetent boobs I have ever dealt with.
Quite Easily the worst healthcare provider I've had to deal with. Every other site also has hundreds of reviews that would agree with me, this is the only site I've found to have positive reviews which is weird to me. To start this, I have an HMO plan. So i expect to jump through a few hoops to get coverage on what i need. This being said, this has been the most backwards healthcare I've experienced. Expect to call their customer service department every other day to make sure your procedure approval isn't dropped or on hold. I was told they have received my lab results and the approval process is pending and it will take 10 days to process only to call back the next week and learn that those lab results are not in their system and that they have not received them at all. The nurses from my healthcare provider have said they've never had any other issues with this procedure from any other insurance provider. This is the third terrible experience I've had with them in a few short months. I cannot put any more emphasis on how mismanaged and unorganized United Healthcare is. I will be moving to my wife's insurance no matter how expensive it is.

So far they suuuck. Took them seven weeks to process the application. Went to register on their website, and it said it couldn't find me. Call center put me on hold for 15 minutes and then disconnected me -- twice. Kept telling me to "call your HR.' I AM HR!!!

Never have had any issues with United Healthcare. The customer Service agents have always been very helpful in answering any of my questions and the coverage, for the most part, has been adequate.
My parents pay for my health insurance but when we go to hospitals or clinics they rarely don’t have united health care. By fall of every year we reach our deductible so health care is free for a couple months for us. They fit our families personal needs! Overall very good healthcare.

Absolute worst insurance company you could have. My mother has Breast Cancer and they are denying her treatment for it. Her physicians from Hillman Cancer Center have fought day in and day out for it, but the doctor at United refuses to approve it. Terrible insurance company who shouldn’t even call themselves insurance. Clearly they do not care about their patients.

I thought our company had excellent coverage and pay a very high price for it for each of us and now to only learn when it comes down to pay for services they will run the other way...Even our insurance broker is at a loss for words as to how I have been treated with my breast cancer...To the point where we have had to file a formal complaint with the Virginia Bureau of Insurance and the Virginia Department of Health!!! UHC will continue to put you through more hardship then just the pain of your cancer and treatments you must go through!!! I am fighting with every ounce of energy and life I have left in me for my care and it is falling on deaf ears. UHC only cares about their bottom line and not patient care!!! Additionally, don't even bother with their cancer support program...useless and a total waste of time!!!
I've been with UHC for the last two years. They have a very easy to navigate website and they've made it very easy for me to find out my in network and out of network providers, when necessary.
It was difficult to find many Physicians that accepted United Healthcare in my area. The website was tricky to navigate at times, but I was able to get my questions answered calling customer service phone number on the back of the card.
United is one of the better payers. If you have a denied claim, their appeal process is fairly easy to navigate. They also have one of the better out-of-network plans so you still get some coverage even if you are out of network. The one down side is that it is not all my doctors are accepted as part of their network so I have to pay out-of-network rates when I see them.
Ive had this healthcare for a really long time and for the most part there really reliable until i got a bill from my doctor stating i had to pay for something that should have been covered through my insurance i called there customer service and they re-assured me it would be covered but i still haven't seen the change in my bill

I really wanted to like United Healthcare, however, when I had a medical concern and needed to be on a name brand medication they were completely unwilling to work with me. My doctor contacted them and I had written forms all stating that I had to be on a name brand medication for medical reason and that when I have tried 5+ generics in the past, I have had complications. They did not care at all and told me I would still have to pay the ridiculously high payment if I wanted to be on that medication. It was a truly awful experience.
These guys are absolutely horrible. People who are getting pregnant need to beware of the following 1. No ultrasounds covered 2. If you have a high risk pregnancy and your OBGYN orders lab and radiology tests, not covered 3. If your referring doctor is a OBGYN and not a Prenatal doctor, all the services are not covered.
I had United Healthcare when I lived in New York and I was pretty happy with them. I was able to pick which doctors I wanted to see, didn't need to get referrals which was great. I didn't love their platform for finding doctors- I ended up at some random places that I definitely never went back to.
Could not find a doctor to accept me as a patient..... So i called uhc staff several Times no luck i gave up after several attempts so I went to kaiser.
Very bad company, very hard to get reimbursement, especially flexible spending account. They have all excuse to take your money away, even that is your money. Never put anything into their trap FSA account!.
Do NOT under any circumstances sign up with United Healthcare. First of all they have hardly any providers in network and you are forced to pay $75 instead of the $45 in network price. If you want to get an approval to go to an out of network as if they’re in network it takes a minimum of an hour and a half on the phone to get that approval. Then when your provider calls to get the approval they say they have no record of it. This happens over and over. They recommend Drs. as being in network and then you get an expensive bill a few months later because the Dr. actually isn’t in network. They tell Drs. to bill you for copays you’ve already paid. They don’t pay for services they’re supposed to pay and you have to speak to person after person and each one tells you something different. As you can probably tell dealing with UnitedHealthcare’s mistakes becomes practically a full time job. They are an absolute nightmare. Stay away!
We have never had a bad experience with United Healthcare. Our claims are taken care of as they should be and we think our coverage is very fair and adequate. When I've had to call customer service for billing inquiries, they've been very helpful.
I haven't had any problems being covered anywhere I've gone and every time I call with questions, they are always so helpful. My questions are always answered and they make it simple and easy to understand.
We have had UnitedHealthcare for 2 years. For the most part, the coverage is pretty good. The premiums are very expensive, and there are certain coverage areas that need improvement (like chiropractic care) but they are not any worse than other insurance companies. I know from friends and family who work there that they make money hand over fist and spend it on boondoggles for their employees, so I believe that is another part of healthcare reform that should be addressed.
United Healthcare has been a great insurance. I've always had great experiences with their phone representatives whenever I call with a question. I've never had trouble finding a doctor that I want to see on their list of providers. We didn't necessarily choose them for our health plan because it came from my husband's work, but I don't have any complaints!

We have Golden Rule with United Health Care. I've had the same plan since 2005, and it used to provide a negotiated discount on doctor's visit fees, etc. As of this year, the very same policy is now only good for hospitalizations and cancer. ER visit? No, not unless it results in a hospitalization. Outpatient surgery? Nope. Physical therapy? Nope and nope. My family has a $5800ish deductible and even though we have had a ton of health care expenses this year, which is unusual, none of those fees have been discounted, and none of them count toward my deductible because they are not for hospitalizations or cancer. Needless to say, we've been waiting anxiously for the open enrollment period and will be looking elsewhere. We are not fans.
Overrated and expensive. High co-pays...Maybe it’s my plan. Customer service wasn’t very helpful when I called to ask about my benefits. Long wait time when calling the customer service line. I’ve waited almost an hour then got disconnected and had to start again. Frustrating for someone with a debilitating illness that’s seeking medical care.
If you live in Utah or Idaho United Healthcare has one of the largest coverage areas. I found the premiums to be rather high and the copays to not be great. If possible, I would always go with SelectHealth in these states.
Having to wait for over 1 hour to talk to someone to cancel the policy. I am pretty sure the ridiculous wait for cancellation was intentional on UnitedHealthCare's part.
THE ABSOLUTE WORST, DO NOT BUY THEIR BAD INSURANCE. First, super expensive premiums. Second, denied payment of medically necessary tests (MRI) that were ordered by Dr. - this was NOT an elective test. Third, they have an arbitrary and mysterious system for applying your out of pocket cost to the deductible, which is never explained. Out of $3,000 I had to pay out of pocket, only $500 was "allowed" and applied to my 3,000 deductible. This is really the worst thing since it makes this company a fraud, actually scamming us. Under their scam system, no one will ever reach their deductible or out of pocket maximum, and they will NEVER pay your health costs. Which is what is happening to me. We have been bleeding money since we've been on United Healthcare, and we can't wait to get rid of them. Plus customer service is some call center in the Philipines and you can never get a manager or anyone who is senior on the phone. Get the picture? Horrible.
It is simply outrageous that regulators have done nothing to reprimand this firm. They deliberately have their customer service rep make you circle around yourself for years until you give up. They put you on hold for an hour at a time, hang up, and when they finally admit they have no in network providers because half of the list is bad phone #'s and the other half are full or have a specialization that doesn't apply to your condition, they continue delaying and denying services bluntly. Per the ACA every expecting mother is able to get a breast pump covered by insurance. With my plan I am able to pick any pump I want and be reimbursed. Almost 4 months later and they are still having me the run around. First they didn't like the way Walmart had "med pump" on the receipt and wanted a letter from Walmart (which Walmart said they aren't allowed to provide), then they wanted a picture of the product with the upc, then they needed a tax ID number for Walmart (guess they couldn't figure out how to Google themselves), then they told me they needed more information from me but couldn't tell me what info they needed and now, after THEY recommended I buy it at Walmart , they are saying they won't pay for it because I had to buy it from a medical supply company, not Walmart. No one seems to know what they are doing there. If you have a choice, go with another insurance company.
