The Good

  • Buyer's Choice program
  • Ally Balloon Advantage program
  • Retail finance and SmartLease options
  • Vehicle protection products available

Buyer's Choice Program

Ally Auto's Buyer's Choice program combines the best of buying and leasing. The term length is determined based on the customer's vehicle selection and transaction. This program includes a special prepayment date; at 48 months into the contract, the customer can either prepay by selling the vehicle to Ally at the predetermined price set at signing (some stipulations apply) or do nothing and keep making the scheduled payments. This program also allows you to trade-in your vehicle at any time. The Buyer's Choice program is only available for eligible GM, Chrysler, and Mitsubishi brand vehicles. This program is not available in Nevada.

Ally Balloon Advantage Program

The Ally Balloon Advantage program works by taking a larger portion of your payment and attaching it to the end of the contract. This helps keep your monthly payments low. However, this program still has the same aspects of a traditional loan, including fixed APRs and monthly payments throughout the contract term. Additionally, you can sell or trade-in your vehicle at any time, as long as you pay off the remaining amount when you do. With the Balloon Advantage program, you can buy new GM, Chrysler, and Mitsubishi vehicles and all used vehicles except for Saab and Suzuki. This program is not available in Maryland, Nevada, New Hampshire, North Carolina, or Pennsylvania.

Retail Finance and SmartLease Options

Ally Auto offers both financing and leasing options. The company's SmartLease program allows customers to lease new or pre-owned vehicles through eligible dealers. However, it's only available for select models, but the website doesn't specify which models, so you'll have to contact the company for more information if this is something you are interested in.

Vehicle Protection Products Available

Ally Auto provides a variety of vehicle protection products, including maintenance contracts, theft protection, and tire and wheel coverage.

The Bad

  • Acceptable credit ranges not defined
  • Rates and terms not disclosed

Loan Amounts Not Defined

Unfortunately, the Ally Auto website does not mention minimum or maximum loan amounts, so it's unclear how much you can borrow for an auto loan.

Rates and Terms Not Disclosed

Ally Auto has not disclosed interest rates or terms on its corporate website, leaving potential customers unsure of what to expect. Although these factors typically vary from case to case, it would be nice if the company provided a general range to give individuals an idea of whether or not the company will fit their needs.

The Bottom Line

Ally Auto offers a number of auto loan options, including its Buyer's Choice program, its Ally Balloon Advantage program, its retail finance programs, and its SmartLease program. Each of these programs provide unique features that benefit different individuals and their needs. However, Ally Auto has not disclosed loan amounts, interest rates, or terms on its corporate website, leaving potential customers to wonder whether or not Ally Auto is the right car loan company for them.

I bought a car for me and my daughter, I was the first owner and my daughter was the 2nd co-owner. My daughter pass on may 30th 2024. I had to sent the death certification alone with an affidavit sign by my two granddaughters. This was sent to Ally in June 2025. waited six week for the process to be complete. after 8 weeks a call Ally Auto deceased department then they tell me that the death Certification was not clear after loaded into their system. So i sent it a total of 4 times to them and every time it was not clear. It took me 3 months to clean this up. I finally got the clear title and sold the car. In September 2024 I receive a refund for the Gap insurance but the check was payable to My Name and the EST of my daughter name after sending all the paperwork needed to clear the title. Then they requested another death Certification a copy of my driver license which they had because it was sent to them when I bought the car. But I sent in as there requested and a affidavit notarize. It took till December to clear that up. Now in January 18th of 2025 I received another check for the warranty refund. Again made out to My Name and EST of my daughter name. I call in January to tell them that they did the same thing with this check, they told me that I had to get another Affidavit that they had to sent to me. Now it is March 24,2025 call back because I never received the affidavit from the. Today March 24th still no affidavit the Young lady now told me that I had to send another copy of the death Certificate with again a copy of my driving license. I told them that I wanted to speak to a supervisor no supervisor could take my call of course. So I still have the check and not resolve.

NEVER EVER do business with Ally Bank. My son is on a fire department water rescue team and was deployed to the NC mountains due to the historic flooding. As such, he was a bit late on a car payment and could not contact Ally to make a payment over the phone due to no cell tower coverage. In turn, his credit score was hit hard. I chatted with Ally, and they refused to take this into consideration. Stay away from Ally. You would have thought they would have helped out. So, Ally, next time you need to be rescued from a car wreck, house fire, or require EMS support, feel ashamed!

I was earning a good bit when I got my loan, but through no fault of mine, I can no longer work and will not be going back to work. Now I am making less than half of what i was. I still have all my bills from while I was working, plus medical bills now. I guess I am a couple of payments away from being eligible for a loan rewrite (lower payments), according to "the system". A person could think outside the box and make the exception for folks in similar situations. Then trying to find out why I wasn't eligible or when I would be was like pulling teeth. No one I spoke with was from this continent. It truly seems like they would rather I surrender my car, then sue me for the balance. Now I have to choose between keeping my car to get to my doctor appointments (I live in the country) and eating. Maybe the joke will be on them. Since I have stage 4 cancer, maybe I'll be gone before they take it - or is that joke still on me?!?!?!

Ally Auto mishandled my paid-off loan, initiating an unnecessary GAP claim and withdrawing unauthorized payments from my account. Weeks later, they’ve offered no resolution or assurances. Their incompetence and disregard for customers make them a financial institution to avoid.

I've been paying my car on time for 5 years. Ally has been charging me late fees every month to a amount of ove 600.00 my due date is the 1st of the month. They tell me that it is the 15th. I have spoken to at least 10 off shore agents and they tell me that they will change it but they don't. They say they don't have a number for the executive offices. What a rip off this company is. The Ceo Mike R. must be a very rich man.

I hve many loans thru ally all paid in full, many issues when you pay off early once i had to get a attorny involved because they refused to give payoff, info on a 96k loan, since covid ive had 2 loans the last loan was at 13 percent on used paid this off in a 1.6 years went looking for new truck, and giving qoutes from 15 to 21 percent intentest rate. Called them and aforgneir answers and says the rate is decided by the dealer, they play peole stupid. The last truck they finances was 84k paid it off esrly the spend money to send a check of .29 cents, jist postage is 64cents. Regrrtable they have financed more then 800000k for me in 10 years, now they lost all business because of games. My newest truck i financed os 98k and its not thru ally. I flat told the dealer, i would npt do the deal and they could shove it if it was ally, even the dealer has no idea what allys issues are. But hey the new company im dealing with will get plenty of business from me now.

Ally was great until my car was totaled. My insurance company called to get pay off, and paid the amount given. Then I receive notice that I still owed on the car. They gave the insurance company incorrect amount. Ally told me that they give insurance a different. Makes no sence. A pay off is exactly that, a pay off. So, then my insurance company had to re open my claim because I had a loan lease program that paid towards amount not paid off. The GAP wouldn't cover until this was taken care of. After several calls to request information for GAP, nothing seemed to ever get resolved because of mis information on Allys behalf. Finally after 9 months, GAP got the correct information and paid, once again the remaining amount shown due. However, Ally again is stating I still owe more money. I will never finance through them again.

The worst company I've ever dealt with in my life. They are rude and unresponsive. My mom died on Christmas Eve in 2020. I have attempted since then to get them to update the loan so I can get the car inspected and updated with the state. I keep getting pulled over because Alley won't help me get the name on the car changed. I've sent in paperwork many many times attempting to resolve the situation. When I call they leave me on hold for a half hour then transfer me multiple times. Today they transferred me to a department they knew had already closed. This is a company to avoid at all costs. Run don't walk away from these people.

Ally Auto is a shady business in my opinion. When I started my car loan with them, my car payment was 17k. When I looked at the actual cost of my car, it was 7k. So they charge me 306.29 a month for a car that's worth 7k. When I first was making payment, their agent told me that they do not take credit card payments so I set up my checking account. Ok, let me tell you how shady this company is. I didn't set up auto-pay so I made a payment. Then I set up auto-pay, and again they charged me twice two different times. If I hadn't caught it at that time, I would not been told of the double payment because nothing was mentioned through mail or email. Well in June, I lost my job so I had to figure out how I was going to continue making payments and needed to keep cash in the checking account for the rainy days. I called their agent and asked if they take payments on a credit card. I was given new information again. I was told they do take credit cards and I verified twice to make sure that Ally would take further payments through my credit card. After a few months had passed, I looked at my credit card and there were no funds being taken out for Ally Auto. I checked my checking account and there it is. They have been taking out money from my checking account even though I had provided my credit card information to them. When I called in to ask why my credit card wasn't being charged but instead was being charged to my checking account again, I was given new information. I was told you can't auto-pay with a credit card. So from June to Nov, they have been taking it out of my checking account. I called and asked for them to refund those checking account payments since it's the fault of their agent for giving the wrong information. I told the agent as soon as they refunded, I would make the full payment through my credit card. What makes this even worse is that I had told the agent at the time in June that I had lost my job not long ago so this is why I wanted to make sure I can make payment through credit card. Ally Auto agent told me that even though its the fault of the agent, they will not refund the cash back to my checking account since it's been posted. I am going refinance and never deal with Ally auto again.

ALLY is the worst. I returned a jeep, all payments made and made on time, 4,500 miles under. I viewed my credit report and found a balance that I was unaware of. When I leased my new vehicle, the dealer and myself was never notified of any balance or termination fee. I spoke to numerous employees, Abby, Angela, Paul, Rachael and Renee at Ally and all they kept saying was "I'm sorry". I asked when and how I was contacted asking for money and I was told, "We never contacted you." Yet, the balance is on my credit report. ILLEGAL!. I will never use Ally again. I urge everyone to stay away from them at all costs. Trying to fix a credit report is not an easy task. Thank you Ally for causing chaos and fraud!

Worst bank ever

This is the worst bank ever to get an auto loan let me explain on September 5, 2023 they repoed my car saying that I was 5 mos behind when in fact I know I was not 5 mos behind because I make my payments every month they said I had to pay 1700 and something in order to get my car back then when it was all said and done they said I had to pay 2500 which they minus the 400 for the repo fee so I had to pay 2,129.29 which I did then they did not tell me until after I made my payment that I have to pay through money gram or western union since the car was repoed and since I paid through their automatic system they put a 7 day hold on the account so I will not be able to pick my car up until next Monday customer service was very rude and not helpful at all I wouldn’t recommend this company to anyone by the way they also lied and said my car wouldn’t go up for auction until October 15th if I had not paid for my car by then I called yesterday which was October 2nd when I made my payment and the lady told me the car has been at the auction since September 25th one day after my payment would have been due

Worst loan for car. I just bought my car from the dealership and suppose to get my title and stuff but never did. Call the loan place and they told me that I have to pay the full amount off the car first before I can get my title. If I could pay off the whole car I wouldn't have bother to go through and get a loan. Second, they don't all seem to be on the same page. Was told I can do split payments and that's what I did, but they still charge me my full amount even after I did my split payments. Now they are saying that it's not how it works. They kept telling me that I have to pay my full amount monthly. Well, if you split my amount up by 2 payments it'll equal up to the monthly payment. It didn't seem to get to them. Still charge me the full amount even after. Last, when speaking to a representative /Customer service they make you wait forever to get a random answer. I waited on the phone for a good 15-30 minutes for an answer that they couldn't give. Even chatting they take forever to answer back even after they read it. Horrible loan place to go through.

Ally is the WORST auto car loan. I would rather deal with SunTrust and they aren’t even around anymore. I finance my car with them in April since April I have been calling them every month and explaining to them about why the money does not get taken out of the account. They continue to tell me that it is Navy Federal’s problem. I contacted my bank, they said nothing was wrong and the funds are in the account. Ally’s app says my balance has been paid, they even sent text messages to say it has been successful. If that is the case Ally, why isn’t my bill paid ? Why am I getting the run around about my bill? This is what the Account Specialist Lynn said , she is sorry to hear that and all that she can do is to cancel the funds in the account and we can reprocess it . However, it takes a couple of business days for it to cancel (which I’m thinking omg late fee, but I’ve been trying to give Ally money). I was trying to ask to speak to someone in a position above Lynn’s , she stated she tried nobody answered and that she was sorry again and I explained to her about the late fees she GUARANTEED that I will have no late fees. My concern still has not been solved , why does the app and text messages says everything was successful but in their system it does not? I will be refinancing with another bank next month.

I had a vehicle with ally that was due for a total of $30,000.00. I made $23,000.00 in payments for a lease and had my insurance company write a check for around $25,000.00 for a total loss. Due to my vehicle being paid off early on the lease my lien holder "Ally" had fine print that states they can take all of the equity built into my vehicle. In total my payments were around $45,000.00 to Ally and I will be receiving a check for $1000.00. This was after I fought my insurance company for more money due to an original low offer for my vehicle. It is funny to see this as they physically cannot lose on any deals ally has with this. If you have negative equity in your vehicle you are expected to pay the difference on that and if you have positive equity the bank feels a need to take it. This has had a negative effect on my relationship with Ally and will never consider signing papers with them in the future on either mortgage or vehicle. I would stay away from this company with anything as they most likely do this with other products they back. I had a similar situation with GM Financial and had a return check of $15,000.00 from equity in a lease. Please consider anyone else for your financial needs.

This was the first time using Ally the car dealer said is was the only one that would approve me. But i previously used Cap One and had not late pays and paid them off with out trouble. This was also the first time i had purchased gap insurance. Well i got into an accident within 2 years and had a total loss the difference between insurance payoff and owed was about $2000. This happened in Feb 23 and after months of Ally holding up documents i need to file for gap payment. After 20+ calls, once a week. They still have not sent the right documents. There website is always down and the app is pointless because you cant download documents. So now its July 23, and i get a letter that they cancelled the gap payment from the original load leaving me with our active gap insurance. The put the original gap payment that was billed into the original contract toward the remaining balance. Now the want $1200 which if they just gave me the proper documents my gap insurance would have paid. And on top of it they are now charging .36 a day for the remaining balance not being paid. They are thief's and a con artist loan company. And after thw accident i got a loan for a new car through Cap One without issue.

Negative stars here. DO NOT USE ALLY BANK for auto financing in any capacity. Ally Bank issues different buyouts and payoffs depending on who is making the payment. If you are personally paying off Ally Bank they will issue a contractual payoff; however, if a dealer is going to buy out your vehicle, Ally Bank will issue an inventory payoff at Fair Market Value. This impacts the consumer by locking them out of any equity obtained in vehicle. Ally Bank refused to accept wires, ACH or any online payment processing for payoffs. I personally wired the bank the funds; however, they rejected. I utilize their online payment system to send the funds from checking account. They rejected. They required that I go to the bank and get a certified bank check which I did and overnighted. They received on Friday at 6:19 AM and have no updates on Tuesday. Ally Bank is not capable of issuing a valid payoff. It is only an estimate that has changed 3 times since last Monday (stated valid through July 5th); however, they require the consumer to get certified funds based on an estimate. It is really pathetic. Their customer service is the worst. I work in lending and I am just amazed and ultimately disappointed to say the least. I had no issues using this bank up until this point. I have never missed a payment and only want to payoff my vehicle EARLY. I have used them twice for auto financing. NEVER AGAIN. STAY FAR AWAY AND YOU WILL THANK ME LATER. My hope is that this review will help other consumers avoid the traps and fraudulent practices of this bank.

Ally Auto Financial has garnered a reputation for being detrimental to customers due to various reasons. Firstly, their customer service has been consistently disappointing and frustrating for many individuals. Customers often report long wait times, unhelpful representatives, and a lack of resolution to their issues. The poor customer service experience leaves individuals feeling undervalued and neglected, as their concerns and inquiries are not adequately addressed. Furthermore, the Ally Auto Financial app has been widely criticized for its subpar performance and functionality. Many users have encountered numerous technical glitches, including frequent crashes, slow loading times, and difficulty navigating the app's features. These issues make it extremely inconvenient for customers to access and manage their accounts efficiently. The app's shortcomings not only hinder the user experience but also create additional stress and frustration for customers who rely on mobile banking for convenient financial management. Overall, the combination of substandard customer service and a poorly functioning app has resulted in an unsatisfactory experience for many Ally Auto Financial customers.

I would never recommend or utilize this company EVER, EVER again. This company has the worst policies and customer service in the world. Car was paid off a year before time, and I have received more than one congratulatory email your car has been paid in full emails. When I call to get a Paid in Full letter, I can't get in for 13 days, Statement reflects paid in full, and my bank account is minus the amount due, but I can't get a letter. I am not asking for any release letter or even the title to the car, just a letter reflecting what the account statement states is PAID IN FULL, which is asking too much. Don't get involved with this company. They do not work in the best interest of their customer.

Ally is the worst!!! I got into an accident in November 2022. My car was declared totaled in January 2023! I paid my car note for December (Even though it was in the shop- waiting for insurance claim) After it was declared totaled I did not pay in January and my insurance sent in a check to pay off the rest of my loan. I’ve received calls weekly saying my payments are late and I’ve referenced my insurance claim # and help ticket # with ally EVERY TIME & EVERY TIME they say they’ll wait to speak with my insurance agent … IT IS NOW JUNE!! FIRST, they claimed they lost the check (even though it was sent to their PO BOX listed for totaled vehicles) 2 weeks ago I got a call from insurance company saying Ally never cashed their check and sent it back. My account is now delinquent and considered a repo, this has impacted my credit tremendously as if I haven’t made a payment in the last 6 months!!! I’ve received a payout from insurance and CANNOT purchase a new car without a letter from ally confirming my loan is paid in FULL!! What a load of crap. No car for the last 8 months & I DRIVE FOR WORK!! This is the most unprofessional, unorganized, incompetent institution I’ve ever worked with. You have enough wherewithal to know I’m missing monthly payments but have no idea how to cash a “paid in total” check from PROGRESSIVE?! Make it make sense ALLY. DO better! You can count on my business NEVER again and you can bet I will tell everyone I know what a horrible experience this has been.

For what I thought was a great lease company for our Tacoma and our 4Runner has turned into a nightmare. a vehicle well care for that holds its value and have been told by my dealership that Ally is screwing customers as well as dealerships. told us we had no equity in our Tacoma, which felt like an insult stab to our gut. turns out its Ally Auto who are stealing from people and sticking it to the great customers and dealerships. now we have to give up our beloved Tacoma because Ally Auto hasn't made it worth our while to even consider keeping it. Unfortunately our 4Runner is with Ally still and I can't wait to be out of that contract with them too... never again.

They unlawfully repossessed the vehicle I was making monthly payments on. They did not give provide the Cobb Notification letter they are required to send me since they were accepting my late payments. They are Ally financial and have class action law suits against them for this exact issue and also within the state of Minnesota where they paid $780 in settlement due to them not following proper protocol per state laws. I got behind in payments when I was laid off last year, notified them of my lay off, they wouldn’t do any payment arrangement or payment assistance since my loan was so new so when I regained employment I have been paying monthly payment plus additional amount each month to get caught up. They closed my account in February regardless of those payments they had been accepting (without me knowing it until today) and continued taking my payments. Last payment was on 4/17/23 for $900. They repo’d vehicle on 5.7.23 with no Cobb notice sent to me. I would have been able to get completely current with my auto loan within the next 30 days if they would notified me of the repossession action and allowed me to make large payments now and then in two weeks when I get paid again. They are telling me since they closed my account they won’t even allow a payment arrangement to get current and I either pay loan in full or they will sell my vehicle.

I have had a car loan with Ally since 2017. From then up until now have never had an issue. I actually never had to speak to anyone I did all my payments online and always within the grace period. Never had one late fee. Fast forward to now and why I'm writing this post I filed bankruptcy in Jan and decided to reaffirm this loan as I only have 9 payments left. My attorney explained that once I file I will lose access to pay online and that I will need to call and pay over the phone through a third party called aci or send a check in the mail. Sounds simple enough I called in Feb paid over the phone through aci for a $4 charge never even had to speak to a live person. Now March I call to do the same this time as soon as I enter my account number it says payments can not be made to this account and it forwarded me to a live person. The agent tried to process the payment and got the same error she said Ally is blocking the payment. Then she transferred me to the Ally bankruptcy department. They are HORRIBLE no one knows what they are doing. They kept saying yes no can pay over the phone would transfer me back to the aci department and the same circle happened for 4 days. Finally they got the payment to go through and it was deducted from my bank account and I was given a transaction number. Now the problem is my account is still showing no payment. I call again ask why the payment hasn't posted they say what Payment? Now they can't find the payment and the transaction number does not exist!! I go to a manager who insists I show proof of this so I call my bank on three way and my bank confirms yes there was a payment made to aci ally and confirmed date and amount. And gave ally there transaction id. We hang up with my bank and the manager says to give him 24 hrs. Which that turned into another 2 days. I call him and he couldn't figure this out and wanted me to start all over calling aci now? I was very frustrated called my bank and disputed the charge since it was 9 days and they still couldn't find the payment they took. I got my money returned hrs later. And sent a check in the mail to ally payment processing center in Kentucky. I sent it on a fri and it was cashed and applied to my ally account by Sat. I was so Happy!!!! So after 3 wks of dealing with this I sent my check right away for April on March 31'st. I called the week of April 10th to see if they got it. They said it can take 7-10 business days. So I waited then called again on the 17th. They said no we have not received it. They said what address did you send it to. I said the same one I did last month the one in Kentucky. They said that's wrong it needs to go to one in Arizona. Which makes no sense since they cashed it last month with the Kentucky address? So I say fine I'll send another to the other address. Which I did that same night. Surprise Surprise next day they cashed the one sent to Kentucky!!! AND ITS NOT POSTED TO MY ACCOUNT AGAIN!!!!! I call AGAIN they say we show no check get all the info. And once again tell me to call in two days. What kind of company takes money and CAN'T FIND IT!!!!! And now there is another check in the mail. I have filed a claim with the BBB. The Ally bankruptcy department is awful!!! None of the customer service agents knows what's going on. All I'm trying to do is pay my bill like I have always done. If you file bankruptcy I would recommended surrendering your vehicle.

RE: ALLY auto Customer service dept. WHY did I call over 5x's, follow prompts and while waiting for Customer service, someone keeps hanging up! Ally corporate SERIOUSLY needs to check and monitor their people who works for them. It is outrageous when a customer tries to call to discuss their account seriously! Especially, people that going thru' temporary hardships. It's deadly -stressing to some people. Customer services either hangup or make some excuses like, "call back, the systems are down, not sure when it'll go back on". Or...." After a conversation, then all of the sudden, they're saying" hello, are you there, can't hear you....etc. THESE ARE ALL OLD games people play! Cut the outsourcing seriously. Bring jobs BACK TO THE U S. Ally should be Boycotted and ALL auto account monthly payments should be waived until corporate or Even our state or U.S state representatives get to the bottom of this matter. ATTN: Corporate!!!! PS: Why in the hell is a stupid question on here "Did ALLY invite....?!! Stupid

Well after seeing these reviews I am not the only upset person. Purchased a 2022 trailblazer in 2021, on Sept. 20th, and it was financed thru ally Bank. Just last month traded it for a equinox 2023, the car dealer paided off the remainder of the trailblazer, on Feb. 23, 2023, and I have told this to ally, gave them phone numbers and names to talk to, cause ally says they didn't get the pay off, yet the dealer showed me proof. I am getting emails from ally saying to make a payment. I have called 4 times, emails too. I am a senior and cannot take this harassment. They won't let me talk to the finance department. They say I can't, but they will give the information to the office. If I die of a heart attack from this stress, legal action will take place.

I’m only leaving one star because I have to otherwise they would be getting negatives all across-the-board. They are the worst company I’ve ever dealt with. I financed my BMW in 2021 through them, and recently was laid off from my job so fell behind a few months in my payments, I was able to set up a couple of payments to get caught up once I received my tax return, leaving a small balance which was over my monthly payment amount. They automatically withdrew that from my bank account, making me overdrawn in addition to getting nonsufficient fund fees, return check fees, and late fees, so I called and spoke to customer service rep, who put in the request for the refund and assured me that there was no pending payments set to automatically come out in the future, five, FIVE!!!!! days later that same amount of $627 was pulled from my account again, again making me overdrawn and charging me all those fees. I now have over $200 in fees and charges. I called and spoke to a rep today, who just argued with me and then transferred me to his supervisor. When I explain the situation to her, she just kept repeating herself and extremely broken English I might add, That there’s nothing that they can do because I set up a payment. I tried to explain to her yes, a month and a half ago I did set up two one time payments those came out then it went back to my regular one time payments I did not authorize this large amount to come out of my bank account twice in less than a week I wanted a refund. She apologized and told me sorry there’s nothing that we can do or will do. We are not refunding you you need to contact your bank for these auto pays that set up. I told her I’ve already contacted my bank a few times and they assured me that there are no pending auto or upcoming payments scheduled to come out of my account. I explained that to her and she also told me to log into the app which, by the way doesn’t work, has never worked for the entire amount of time that I’ve had my loan , and to try the website which also doesn’t show any upcoming or pending payments scheduled, and I am not in auto pay. So I told her can you please explain to me why this money keeps coming out of my account if I didn’t authorize it, I didn’t set it up, You guys didn’t set it up and my bank didn’t set it up??? and she kept arguing with me telling me that I set it up. I told her I definitely would not authorize a payment this large, knowing that I didn’t have the funds to do it, but would be making my regular monthly payment again she was just rude and argumentative with me and basically told me oh well nothing I can do so I hung up. they have the worst customer service, they are crooks. They are thieves. They are extremely under educated on customer service and how auto financing works. stay as far away as possible, even if you are desperate like I was to get financed.

One star is too big needs to be an option for negative numbers. I contacted Ally in October of 2022 for a payoff balance. They gave me the amount and said I had within a few days to pay that particular amount or it would change. Ok, I didn't have a problem with that because I wanted to pay it that same day. I talked with Ally customer service through phone and chat 5x just to verify the payoff amount was correct and once after I sent the payment through. They confirmed that the payment was made and it showed a zero balance on my account through the app. A few days later I received a completion and thank you letter from Ally on paying off my loan. I called Ally to asked about my title release I was told I would receive it in 7-10 days. I did, my title was sent to me I have it, great. However, just because I had difficulties previously throughout my transactions with Ally I went back into my account to make sure it was closed out and my banking info was deleted from the app. Just to see I have a balance of 600.00 dollars!! How and what type of bs is this. I immediately contacted Ally they have no idea why then they tell me it's because of a payment the month before I missed. Excuse me! If i ask for a payoff amount of everything and get the information from the representatives that's what I take for bond. Ally is fraudulent and they will not get another dime out of me. I have my completion letter and title that they released because I paid off my account. I reported them to the credit bureau, stay far away from Ally.

I’ve been a customer with Ally for a few months now. The first month they allowed my car salesman to set me up for automatic payments that I did not ask for and then I was double charged. When I requested a refund they told me I would get it in 7 to 10 days and it took well over two months to have my money refund it . Every month after I have tried to make a payment online only to be told that they cannot take my payment at this time. Every time I call customer service I am given a person that barely speaks English and it is very hard for me to understand what they are saying. All I ever wanna do is make my payments on time and not be troublesome but the Internet will not allow me to. When I called customer service and tried to explain the problem to them all they tell me is I can make my payment by phone and be charged a four dollar fee. Every month they are getting an extra four dollars out of me that I should not have to pay all because they do not do maintenance to their website or listen to the concerns of the customer. They will shuffle you around from person to person with no results. This is the absolute worst company I have ever done business with I will soon be looking for another finance company to take over my loan as I cannot take this anymore

If you are the CO signer you have 0 rights but all the debt. Customer service gives you 1 800 BS phone numbers to non existent loss mitigation departments for a flooded out vehicle that you merely co signed for that's been a loss for over a year and in ditch lord knows where from a flood. But,, you can only pay to get them to stop harrassing you!!! When you get collection calls they and ask for. Account Access,, they don't allow you access to a database that is registered to the actual driver you co-signed for - absentee driver - dead vehicle - you keep payInc and paying, But Zero Rights with Zero Access and bi-Monthly trumped up Late Fees every other month. Such crooks and criminals! There needs to be a law that forces ALL OWNERS ACCESS TO ACCOUNT AT ALL TIMES!!

Zero stars. I had to select one in order to submit my review. My credit union mailed the payoff of my vehicle on 12/16/22, today is 1/17/23 and Ally is saying that they did not receive the check even though I have a copy of the check that clearly shows it has been cashed. Each time I speak with someone, I’m told they will investigate and provide me with a reference number. That reference number is not worth the paper I wrote it on because when I give them the number, they are still oblivious to what the number is referencing. Just like all of the other reviews, stay away from this company because something fraudulent is going on with them. I’m going to let the Credit Union lawyers handle this so they can find out where the funds are that was sent to them.

Customer service non existent. Hang up on you the minute they get a chance. I'm behind on payment and tried on SEVERAL occasions to work out payment plan to no avail. Car is disabled and spending all the cash I have to get it fixed. Oh and by the way, even if you do manage to talk to someone who doesn't hang up on you, they never enter the info on their data base and constantly harass you every chance they get. I can understand why they don't have any office's, they'd be full of angry clients. Threatening to repo unless I give them money right NOW. Going to have my mechanic put all the parts in the front seat and tell them to come and get it. In the future I'd rather siphon gas from a burning car than have to deal with them ever again

Ally Auto Financial I have been making principal payments to my auto loan thru Ally Auto, as I am paid up 4 months in advance on my payments. Their system will no longer allow me to enter my auto loan page. I can go in and open a checking account with them, and do anything else on their website, EXCEPT view my auto page to make payments. I did download the phone app, and there WAS an option to make a principal payment, but that disappeared after I used it once! I am directed to enter an amount, then submit payment, but again NO option as to where the $$$ should go ANYMORE. I have no access to my auto loan page on the web. I have tried all 3 main browsers, cleaned my cache, I work online, and know all things to do. I have called them 4 times, and all I got in reply "we will pass the ticket up, try in a few days." When I sign in to my auto loan page I can see 2009-Ally Financial Inc Feedback Ally Community Security Privacy Legal headers all on a gray page with a spinning wheel. I will leave it for hours and the page does not change. If I try after midnight I do get their System Update 12-3 am notice!! This all looks intentional to me!! Does anyone else have this issue?

Honestly i would leave no stars if i could. Ive had a loan through ally finincal for nearly 3 years and now that i am a single payment behind they are threatening to repo my car constatnly calling me and my wife during random times of the day on top of call my family members and old roommate that i havent talked to in years. Its illegal and harrasment. I cant wait to get away from them. I would pay my bill and it would show the money gone from my back but they wouldnt process it for another two weeks and flag my account as late. Its like they are trying to make your credit score worse so you cant get away from them i hope they go bankrupt.

Ally Auto has definitely been the worst banking experience I have ever had in my life. It had been a total nightmare. The customer service representatives do not know how to assist me and often transfer me to a random extension or just tell me they are not able to assist me. I happened to total my vehicle in the small window that I did not have insurance coverage because of this I am having to pay for everything out of pocket. Ally’s customer service informed me that there is no way Ally can help me because I did not have insurance at the time the accident occurred. All I was requesting was documents pertaining to my account like the payment history so that I could file a claim my self for my gap insurance and I was not able to get assistance with receiving documents at all. I was directed to the total loss department where they told me they could not help me either because I didn’t have insurance and they informed me that they were not able to lower my payments either or extend out my loan like many other banks offer. Point being Ally does not care at all about their customers or value customer service. I would not recommend them at all and I will refuse to ever have another loan with them in the future!!! Please tell your loan officer to find you another loan provider!

Ally Auto does not care about customers affected by Hurricane Ian!! I never comment on a company like this, but I’m absolutely outraged with this company…I was affected by Hurricane Ian and contacted them to let them know I needed to have a one-month extension…Just ONE month!! I was told that everything would be fine and there was no problem. ( My account is always in good standing) One week later I started receiving texts that I was late with my payment. I continuously called every number listed for Ally Auto and would go through all the steps to reach someone but as soon as I went through all the steps it would beep then hang up on me. Finally reach someone and then they said they had to put me on hold for a moment then…THEY HUNG UP AGAIN! Seriously called over 20 time within a week. (Have screenshots for proof) Then they called me since they said I had not paid my payment. The lady says they never made a note that my payment had been moved!! By this time, I already scheduled my next payment because again I only needed one month, and she told me that payment would be for the month I missed so I would still be behind and needed to pay more!! If not, I would continue to be behind which I NEVER have been before! I spent an hour on the phone with her while she was trying to work out how to fix the issue since a HURRICANE and a bad employee is not something that is my fault, and I cannot spend extra money during the holidays on a car payment! Why is it so hard to move a good customer’s payment to the end of their term? She could not get her supervisor so she promised me that they would call me back by the end of the day. I was very kind and the lady kept apologizing for the issue which obviously not her fault. I told her this has been beyond stressful so I was worried that I would still not get a call. She promised over and over that they care, they would work to move the payment, and I would receive a call back for sure….I did not get any call from anyone from Ally! I cannot believe that a company could literally lie to someone like this. Its absolutely disgusting and I would have never gone through ALLY if I had known…I still cannot get through…Shocking I know. BE WARNED THEY LIE AND DO NOT CARE!

I've been on the phone with Ally Auto for an hour and a half, being sent to their 3rd party on the phone payment then waiting for someone who can help give them my information 5-10min process, then she informs me my account was blocked. Oh, I'm being moved again; another 5 minutes of waiting to go through the information check. Then I ended the call because the audio was awful after being transferred numerous times. Finally, after several calls, I finally got a clear answer as to why my account was blocked, then he informs me that an account manager is already looking into my account, I got transferred to her, and her audio is already awful enough to hear, she tells me nothing, and she tells me to end the call. So overall I do not recommend getting an auto loan from them. 1/10

ALLY AUTO Is a big RIP OFF never use this company for GAP INSURANCRE!! In 2018 we purchased a vehicle with a 7 year auto loan which included GAP insurance with ALLY AUTO we paid off our car loan 3 years early. We Submitted a pay off letter to ALLY AUTO which handled out GAP INSURANCE and we requested a pro-rated refund. We received a letter stating we used up the cost of our GAP insurance because they pro-rate by USAGE not per month unlike other GAP insurance who pro-rate per month . BEWARE ALLY prorates per percentage which results in 100% of your coverage being used the first 2 years of your contract & with no money being returned if cancelled. God forbid you get an accident & you think you are covered you will NOT be covered after 2 years of coverage per the scale calculation they use.. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE!!!! When buying GAP insurance make sure who you are signing with.. DO NOT get ALLY AUTO!!!!!! Again NEVER NEVER use ALLY AUTO FOR GAP... INSURANCE!!!!

Ally forced me to make a payment through money gram at Walmart , which I did. Apparently the lady at Walmart sent it to check free instead , and it took ally 2 weeks to notice. I called about 5 different times during the two weeks and was told 3 different supervisors would be in contact and I never received a thing. I called check free for a refund and they told me ally accepted the money but for some reason it didn’t post to my account even though the account number was correct. So I called ally and they told me I needed to go through Walmart for a refund when Walmart just told me ally needed to reject the payment. So ally completely accepted my payment, held it from my account, and are now threatening repossession after I made the payment in plenty of time. The lady on the phone said they could repo my car any day even though I’m literally waiting for them to refund the money. If you know what’s good for you please do not buy from ally. They scammed me out of my money and now they’re gonna scam me into paying late fees when I made the payment on time.

Hands down, the worst company I have ever dealt with in my life. I am 61 years old, I've dealt with scores of companies of my lifetime. In my opinion Ally financial is little more than a scam company. Blocking people out of their online payment, giving temporary sign-ins to get back in that don't work, repeatedly. Or ask for two years to get a statement, numerous times, they never complied. I finally had enough of ally, went to my back and attempt to pay off the loan. I asked them for her loan payoff statement, they told me they can't send it via mail, or email and had to fax it. For 3 months, this one on My bank never received anything from them. Trying to get in touch with them, is an exercise in futility.

I paid Ally Auto Finance $33,546.00 on 08/02/22. After hearing nothing from them in two weeks I called them. I was informed that they cancelled the check and when asked why they did not know. So it took me two weeks to get another check issued and too them. Then they cashed the check and marked my 2020 GMC Canyon as a Total Loss. They did this without even notifying me. So now I had to get a letter from my insurance company stating there have been no claims on the vehicle. Ally will not return my $1400.00 over payment nor a lien release until this issue has been resolved. All this because some idiot screwed up. They tell me it will take up to three weeks to process and correct the issue. I will never go through this institution again, ever. They are the worst financial institution that I’ve ever dealt with in the last 50 years. Next time I will go back to Capital One for a auto loan. I’ve had two loans from Capital One with Zero problems. I warn everyone out there, do not use Ally Auto Finance. You will regret it if you do.

They are HORRIBLE! Our loan was paid off on 7/3/2022 and we had over $2900 in cancellation that are supposed to be coming to us. We have spoke to them numerous times, including the first time to do our change of address, because we have moved. They told us that they have 55 days to return the refund. We are on day 72, still no refund. I spent 1 hour and 32 minutes on the phone with them yesterday and 4 different people ( whom I couldn’t understand) and to only get a reference number and to be told 7-10 more days. Oh yea, address never got changed. I will walk before I ever finance a vehicle through Ally again.

Ally’s automated service is the most irritating system I’ve ever had to deal with. The repeated saying “ all of our agents are busy pleases hold on the line “ gets very old when holding on the line for 20 mins. They must say the same thing over and over at least 60 times in 60 seconds. The online app is totally ridiculous. I changed my bank info way before my payment was due and now it’s like it never went through and I’m 11 days late . Trying to get someone on the line to talk to is impossible . What they don’t understand is some people don’t have the time or patience to wait 30-60 mins on hold. I’m now looking to refinance with another company.

Never missed a payment in 9 yrs. $1400 owed on last car (started at $11,000+). Car was stolen and recovered by Police who took it to impound lot. Insurance decided to fix car. Ally received 2 notices of impound from impound company. They decided note was not worth getting car out and wrote off the balance of note. We were still making payments yet my credit score went from 838 to 623. Never notified by Ally of what they were doing. Paid loan off but Ally refuses to fix the error on my credit report. Said I have to live with the score for 7 yrs. Do not have anything to do with Ally. They do not care about customer only getting money. Worst Bank ever!

If you can get any other finance company for your car, do it!! I WILL NOT EVER recommend Ally Financial to anyone!!! They have an overnight payoff address yet they re-route your payoff check to another address (10 days at least), another 10 days to clear your check, then at least 10 days to process your title. Over a month to receive a title. But they will sure hound you for your car payment. Every single person with customer service can barely speak english and they just repeat themselves. I won't be surprised if someone gets a lawsuit against these people. HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE!!!!! STAY AS FAR AWAY FROM THESE PEOPLE

I hate this company. You could not get any worse if you prayed to God to bless you with worse. I called this morning about a letter threatening to repo my car and I just kept getting hung up on. I have the app and sent them a message no reply. I’ve been trying to pay on my car note and they charged me $146 late fee in May. About $160 in June and a $177 late fee in July. They are no help and intentionally drowning you in debt. I pray they go out of business. They prey on the vulnerable and then make you out to be the bad guy. I’m leaving bad reviews everywhere I can! Beware! Run away! DO NOT GO WITH ALLY!

Wow after reading all of the horrible reviews at this point I don’t even think it matters what I write, maybe Sara will rescue me (who was mentioned in a past review) but I will still share my experience. If there was a 0 rating that would be my choice of a rating. I called in two weeks ago to get help on an extension due to the loss of a family member. I had to travel out of state and everyone knows right now gas and all other expenses are high. I was told to call back or wait on a letter with the status. I have been trying to reach Ally since, but they are closed each time I call. So today is Saturday, it’s been two weeks not sure what the status is. I get up early to catch them. I’m on the phone at 8am to be left on hold for 40 minutes by the rep. She came back on and says she will need to transfer me to another department. I shared my concern about being left on hold for so long and she stuttered an excuse of course. I get transferred to a rep who had very little English to repeat everything again to be transferred! I get on with the new rep not much English so I hung up I’m exhausted at this point! I called back I finally get an English speaking human that tells me to call back Monday to speak to the right department. Like couldn’t they have said that from jump? I am over it and did not realize how horrible of a company this is until I read all of the bad reviews. I definitely need to move around.
