I bought a 2012 from VROOM and when the financial department was helping me look for banks to choose from I went with Ally because the APR was actually decent. The funny thing was even the financial representative advised against using their service. LOL, You would think even a car sales representative would just want to sell the car and be done with the deal and take the money. So this just proves the reputation of the mighty Ally financial institution. He warned me they cut corners and are very liberal about pay offs when refinancing. Well of course I went with Ally anyways because every time my credit history gets checked it knocks off a few more points from my credit history and that APR was pretty decent. Fast forward to now. I set up a refinance loan with my personal bank and they send me the pay off loan amount as stated on my account with Ally. I then mail this check after signing it to Ally's address. I then get an email that this amount is not good enough because they received it 1 day late from the 4 day pay off amount and I was advised to utilize the 10 day pay off amount which is not posted anywhere on my account. Here is where it gets really unprofessional. Next they mailed it in just a regular envelope with no tracking! They could have simply mailed it regular with a certified mail attachment. I used to work for the Post Office and I know for a fact it only takes about 3-4 days for mail to be sent from most states. It has been 8 days and there is a check for over 21k just floating around or getting devoured by a local identity theft grad student! So here we have a multi million dollar financial institution that is too cheap and wants to milk out another $100 for a 10 day pay off and unable to process $1.50 for certified mail after I forked out $25.00 for overnight delivery. Oh and good luck calling them because you will have the luxury of speaking with an exchange student or someone in the Philippines whose job is just to relay what you already see on your computer screen and simply apologize. I could get the same information by talking to a dog. Please take the time to look online at all reviews and you will see a pattern. All of the reviews have 1 star ratings unless of course you go the Ally bank website.

If I could give no stars I would. DO NOT USE THIS BANKS FOR ANY TYPE OF FINANCING!!! They are the worst bank ever to deal with. I had a vehicle loan under them, and when the vehicle was totaled in an accident it took me 4 MONTHS!!!, to get the proper paperwork from them to send to my GAP insurance. I had to call everyday, sometimes multiple times, trying to get a hold of someone who spoke English that I could "sort of understand", and then would have to wait 24 hours for them to continually fax me the incorrect paperwork, over and over, because it is against their policy to email documents. I talked to multiple supervisors, none of which could get me the proper documents because they didn't have the right privileges, and they would continue to send me back to the same horrible customer service number. I finally had to have my GAP insurance talk to them to get the right paperwork TWO DAYS, before GAPS due date to have the car covered!!!!
To add to everything three months later, after the car was supposed to be completely paid off (the car had been totaled for over 7 months), I get a letter in the mail from them saying that I still owe them money. I call, YET AGAIN, their horrible, god awful customer service line, and have to go through another 4 people to find out why I still owe them money!!!
RUN AWAY!!! DO NOT BORROW MONEY FROM THEM!!! NOT WORTH THE ANXIETY IF SOMETHING HAPPENS BEFORE THE LOAN IS PAID!!!!

NEVER EVER do business with Ally Bank. My son is on a fire department water rescue team and was deployed to the NC mountains due to the historic flooding. As such, he was a bit late on a car payment and could not contact Ally to make a payment over the phone due to no cell tower coverage. In turn, his credit score was hit hard. I chatted with Ally, and they refused to take this into consideration. Stay away from Ally. You would have thought they would have helped out. So, Ally, next time you need to be rescued from a car wreck, house fire, or require EMS support, feel ashamed!

I've been paying my car on time for 5 years. Ally has been charging me late fees every month to a amount of ove 600.00 my due date is the 1st of the month. They tell me that it is the 15th. I have spoken to at least 10 off shore agents and they tell me that they will change it but they don't. They say they don't have a number for the executive offices.
What a rip off this company is.

Absolutely terrible. Paid a loan off, they then started reporting late payments with a total balance of $900 left on the loan to my credit report. I called Ally to figure out why it says I have a balance since the loan was paid, they agreed it was an error. They suggested I file a dispute with the credit agencies. I filed a dispute and they denied the dispute saying the balance was accurate. No one at the call center has any clue what to do. There is no one to talk to in order to resolve this. Insanely bad company.

WHAT A NIGHTMARE!!! My daughters vehicle got repossessed after setting up a payment plan!! This happened on Tuesday 11/7/23 & it took them 2 days to even get a payoff!! We paid this morning at 9:30am & they said it would take 10 minutes to be in their system & now here it is at 12:30pm now they are saying that the Money gram Portal is down. WHAT KIND OF COMPANY ARE YOU RUNNING?????

Overall, my experience with their end lease return was a nightmare! Think twice before leasing from this company and save yourself the headache and find a company that values their customer. They hit you with fees and charges after lease was over and when you call them they bounce you from one rep to another for 55 min until you give up. Just spoke with some rep Carlita and she was so rude that you can't even talk or explain anything ! Stay away please!

My leased car was totaled in a car accident just three payments ahead of lease end and they received from my insurance company $3K over the buyout lease amount and kept it all. I had to fight to get reimbursed for the last lease payment that I made after the accident due to the insurance delay to declare the auto total loss. Bad communication and the representatives from the total departments are very rude. I will NEVER use Ally Auto ever again!!

I would never want to have another Loan or lease with this company they are making it extremely hard for me to Buy out my Lease. Forcing me to go to the dealership for this purpose and not allowing any 3rd party credit union to help in the process. Something definitely smells very fishy. THEY won't even provide a payoff amount. Thanks, Ally for making it impossible for people to ever want to do business with you in the future.

PREDATORY AUTO LENDING and overall hard to deal with. Their website and online payment options are often "down for maintenance." They will call you dozens of times a day if your payment is late, even during a pandemic or other hardship. They will literally steal, with vague legality, your hard-earned money and they specifically prey on low-income people.

Do not use, during covid customer service kept calling me and begging me to use their covid relief program ( I kept refusing because I was still working) they kept calling several times so I finally agreed, they told me the payments will go at the end of my loan and nothing else was needed from me, well long story short they charged me over $300.00 in late fees and the whole 4 yrs I had my vehicle i have never been late ( until they offered me this fake covid relief ) BEWARE OF THIS COMPANY.

Signed up for payment extension. Paid what they said I had to. Extension approved. 10 days later they drafted 2 months worth of payments from my account causing my account to overdraft. Reached out to company and they said they would refund the unauthorized draft plus all overdraft fees. It's been 14 days and still nothing. Can't talk to anyone that understands what you're saying. No one seems to care about you either. Would give ZERO stars if I could

I'm financing thru Ally and I lost my daughter and 3 grandkids in a house fire 😭😭😭 I have to bury my daughter and my 3 grandkids by myself I asked Ally can I skip my August payment to bury my child and grandchildren and these heartless people told me NO! because I haven't been financed with them long enough! How heartless can someone be! One payment I'm talking about just ONE!!! I will advocate against these heartless people for the rest of my life! Im thinking about having them come get this car!

This is the worst company I have ever dealt with. When my husband passed this year, they kept tacking on fees. They kept charging money and did not show any sympathy whatsoever.
I do not understand How they can be so cold? When someone was in financial Dire Straits and they refused to work with them, threaten them with collection and court. This is a terrible terrible company look for my video you'll see it SELFISH MONEY HUNGRY RUDE UNINTELLIGENT ON FACTS AND POLICIES.

Ally Financial, is by far the worst company that I have ever been involved with overall. They have a very bad system as far as communicating with each other as a business. If you ever ask to speak with someone over the person on the telephone it’s like you’re offended Ins that person and they will give you the runaround. If the car dealership tells you this is the only bank that will finance you, please walk away you will find a better bank and that dealership is probably not a reputable one. Ally screwed me from the beginning and then bite on the way out as well.

Do not finance with Ally. You will be sorry if you do. If you ever have to deal with customer service you will need to block off several hours of your time because you will be disconnected several times and have to start over. The person helping you will not know how to help you, cannot answer your questions and will ultimately end up telling you false information. It is very unpleasant.

Worst ever loan company!! You’re better off borrowing from a loan shark!
I paid this loan in full twice!! The SOB’s say they never received my payment then dinged my credit!!
So I stopped payment on that check. Sent a new overnight check on June 21. Associate confirmed they received it in June 22
Ally wrote to me on June 27 stating I owed my payment. In my humble opinion they are horrible thieves!
Go anywhere else rather than to Ally

Ally auto is HORRIBLE, very rude reps and they hire people who take your payments and add them to other peoples accounts. I have never interacted with a business that has this many faults. I would recommend everyone to stay away from this company because they are not professional at all. I cant even imagine how many people this has happen to. I want to warn anyone that is thinking of using this company. DONT DO IT!!! If you decide to continue with them then just know that we all tried to warn you. Very unprofessional, Very disrespectful and very rude customer service reps.

Still waiting after 4 weeks to clear my title. First they lost the check, then they cashed it but didn't credit the account. Now they keep promising to fax the payoff letter but I am still waiting. Calls to the customer service desk get someone who has no authority and can't speak English. My buyer's patience has begun to run out. Never had this problem with my credit union. I would never use them again!

Ally Auto, financed my Toyota I had no idea how terrible this company is, Their website constantly denies my access. Their app downloadable to your phone never works in the three months that I’ve had my loan I have never been able to access their app.. to make a phone payment cost an additional four dollars I would love to be able to set up automatic monthly deductions but it is not possible they do everything they can to make you miss payments or get late charges from you. They are a predatory lender and should not be allowed to do business in the United States

If I could give them no stars, I would. They sent out a auto title, I never received it, and no way to track the title. When I called they said they would send me a letter of lien release and would have to go to the dmv. I now live in Michigan and had to drive to Illinois. When I applied for title in Illinois they charged me $50, and when I called Ally, they refused to reimburse me. Image a huge company with all this money refusing to help anyone for such a small amount of money to them. You think they would want repeat business!!!

Clown circus of a company. I refinanced out of them and they’re making my life a living hell by not giving me my car lien back, I have bombarded them with calls and emails and they continue to tell me they have sent the lien to me and my banking institution, which they have not done. They also outsource their customer service to people who are difficult to understand, who do not care about solving your problems and who have a total of maybe 5 brain cells.

My husband paid off his auto loan, but they still deducted the $500 and some change for the car payment.
After calling the customer car line, he was informed that he had to wait until the payment was processed/reflected on their system- this continued for 2months.
During his last exchange with customer services, he was told that he was owed nothing and there was no one with whom to dispute this!
This company is AWFUL , and I would NOT recommend!!!

Worst customer service experience of my life. Paid off my car and 3 months later I have yet to receive my title. I get the run around from service agents, on hold and getting transferred around for hours. No one can help me. I tried emailing the CEO and some other executives there and they took retaliatory action and blocked my email address on a network level, so I could no longer even interact with the two people who responded to my email. Literally in tears. Do not finance a car from them. You could end up like me, with a paid-for car sitting in the driveway, while you take the bus.

They do not deserve 1 star. They don't care about their customers when they in financal difficulties and they ask to work with them and postpone payments and add it to the end of the loan. They flat out said no. After numerous times I talked and emailed them, they still don't want to work with you. They would rather repo your car and destroy your credit. This is the first time I dealt with this company. All the other companies that I deal with in this financial hardship, Ally is the ONLY one that WILL NOT WORK WITH YOU. This is the first time in my life and they want to ruin my credit.

There is no one to call and speak with for help! my car was repossessed and they did not follow their repossession policy. I have been trying to speak with someone and no one is able to help me! Customer service is almost non existent. When they call you it's an automated message saying no reps are available. This repeats itself for about 30 seconds and finishes with no reps are available please call back later. Your left wondering why they called to start with.
Calling them back is just about as bad. After going through their automated menus you're prompted to press 0 for a representative. At that time, you get a busy signal and the call hangs up. It takes weeks to talk to a real person.

Absolutely terrible auto finance bank. Stay away if you are looking to buy a car with this bank. I wanted to try to pay down our car faster and the amount of "finance charges" not "interest charges" on principal-only payments is ridiculous. They make it super difficult to make extra payments and was given misinformation on multiple occasions. Its all hidden in your contract so dont be like us and actually read through the finance details of your contract. Terrible. Terrible. Terrible.

My wife passed away in February. She had a loan through Ally Auto and the car was repossessed. The car was fully paid off so I could get it back. Here it is the end of September and Imcan not get them to send me the title or a release of lien so I can get the car in my name. They transfer me to different people or departmentsto no avail. Plates will expire soon and I’ll have a car I can’t or shouldn’t drive. I spent 3 hours on the phone with them today and my house ran out of juice waiting on them. Do not use Ally aAuto

I have been trying to use the phone number to make a payment for weeks.
I get through the prompts and them get a message that the “number dialed is not in service.” This is for Ally Bank (Ally Direct) but you call Ally Bank and they transfer you right back to the bad queue!
Unbelievable! Then I get a letter that my payments are in default! UGH!

Ally is the worst company I've ever dealt with when it comes to a auto loan. The customer service is horrible and they dinged my credit twice in 30 days that a rep in a higher department told me they would credit my account because it took Ally 6 months to fix my account so I could pay online without paying extra $4 each month over the phone but the rep never did so Ally reported to my credit report. I've called that rep twice in 2 months left messages nothing. My credit dropped 165 points in one month 😈😈😈 I hope they shut Ally down!!!

Ally financial is the worst company that I have ever had a loan with. My vehicle was totaled. The insurance paid for the vehicle. Ally said they didn't receive the money. The insurance company said they did. Ally couldn't tell either myself or the insurance company what account the money went to. They turned me into collections. I will never get a loan with them again. Their customer service doesn't speak very good English and you can barely hear them.

This company is the most crooked bank out there.. I was in a accident in a hit skip and the car was stolen and my vehicle was getting totaled my buy out was around 44k my insurance was gonna give me the difference of the value of the truck which was at 52k so roughly 8k which I would've broken even with what I had into it and some $$ for a new one as soon as ally found out it was getting totaled they been going after my insurance for 55k and are trying to cut me out and profit off my tragedy.......they are a bunch of pirates stay away what they do is truly criminal

I have a lease with Ally bank and they are making things very hard for me. They will not give me a payout amount because they do not have a license to sell cars in MA and they ask me to go to any dealership and then they refuse to give the dealer the true payoff. I spoke to customer service and they were useless. Told me to go to another state to get a payoff.

Complaining that she had just had surgery while she's yelling at me! I told her I don't give a crap about your surgery, my husband just died. Most unprofessional employees ever! Avoid at all cost. How can one credit report show good standing yet another show past due for same month? For several different months when payment has never been late! Less than 1 star. I've purchased going on 30 vehicles in my life so far. This experience makes me want a bicycle. Nobody at ally knows whats going on, you can't understand them, calls conveniently drop after being on hold forever. Mailed them a payoff check a month ago with tracking and it arrived but they somehow didn't get it for another 2 weeks but it hasn't shown on my account. Now I'm receiving 8 calls a day telling me I have a late payment. I'm ready to lose my mind. Ally should be a greeting people at Walmart not a financial institution.

I have 1 car payment left of$240.69. Yet they say I still owe from last month . Made my payment in March and they say it was applied to a partical payment from the month prior. I have made all my payments for a year and half on time and yet some how some where I still owe more money. There's always some excuse on why I still owe even though I made the full car payment. Took them 45 mins and 4 transfers to tell me another line of BS.

Dishonest company. I got a buy out number from them through there website for 30000. When I tried selling my lease to a third party they raised the buyout 6000 dollars. When asked why this isn’t stipulated anywhere on their site, they had no response. They just said they reserved the right to sell at max market value regardless of two years worth of payments. Simply put. They are awful and karma is real.

This company owes me refund money since October of last year. First 4 calls they stated the check was sent to wrong address and now they are saying the check shows cashed. I now have to wait for them to do an internal update which I'm 100% sure will result in them resending the check since I NEVER RECEIVED IT. It just feels like they keep giving excuse after excuse. How do you send a check to the wrong address 3 times. Maybe it's all those fraud Netflix documentaries messing with my head. Should I be worried

Worst financial experience with any bank in my 50+ years. I've wasted hours trying to get to the bottom of a couple lingering issues with an Auto Lease. No one at Ally seems to care despite my best efforts to get eyes on it....I've sent them screenshots of 90 minute phone calls (45 minutes on hold) and more. I would 100% not buy a vehicle I love if it meant having to finance with Ally.

This is a lousy company. I paid for my lease in full in January 19 and they still have not sent me the letter of payment in full or the title. Called them numerous time and the customer service is clueless they themselves told that all they can do is send the tracker mail to back office, they have no clue on how to send you the title. Atleast 5 time they send the mail and nobody called. I am still waiting for the title. When I called dealer, they told me good luck on getting title from Ally. I am giving 1 start and there is no 0 or negative start

Horrible experience with Ally auto we try to make monthly auto payments and they find the way to cancel the bank transaction every time I had call many times they said the problem is fix and close to the end of the payment I have to call and pay extra $3-4 charge over the phone to complete payment I wish I can pay the hole balance at ones so I don’t have to keep calling these company I give them a 0 from 100
