Positive Reviews

Reviewers also appreciate the convenience of using GEICO's mobile app and website.

Online Coverage Calculator

GEICO has an online coverage calculator that can help you learn more about the kind of coverage you need. This calculator considers information like life events, the kind of coverage you want to add to your policy, and your vehicle ownership.

If you're just starting to look into car insurance, this calculator will help you figure out what kind of coverage you should include with your policy.

You can also receive assistance from GEICO's local agents. They can answer your questions and help ensure that you get a policy that meets your needs.

Customizable Policies

GEICO allows you to customize your car insurance so that it covers everything you want in a policy. While you'll have the legally required coverage, you can also add coverage for emergency roadside services and rental car reimbursement.

Most states require car insurance policies to cover bodily injury, property damage, and uninsured motorists.

GEICO's coverage options mean that you can find an insurance product that meets your coverage and budget needs.

The ability to customize your policy allows you to purchase additional protection or save money depending on what you need.

Competitive Discounts

As a GEICO customer, you can save money on your car insurance rate with many different kinds of discounts:

The Bad

  • Negative Reviews
  • Must Provide Personal Information to View Quotes

Negative Reviews

Although GEICO auto insurance reviews on BestCompany.com are mostly positive, the car insurance company has also received a fair number of negative reviews.

The reviews include communication issues with customer service representatives. These communication issues lead to misunderstandings of coverage and billing issues.

Reviewers also complain of wait times to reach a representative. Others had issues with claims.

While GEICO has mostly positive reviews, it's important to consider these complaints before deciding to buy an auto insurance policy.

If you're concerned about these negative reviews, you can find another car insurance provider that has a lower proportion of negative reviews.

Must Provide Personal Information to View Quotes

Before you can view quotes on car insurance, you need to provide your zip code and other personal information. This information includes your driver's license, address, and car's Vehicle Identification Number (VIN).

If you're just in the research stages, you may not want to provide this information. However, an auto insurance provider will typically require this information to show realistic quotes on policies.

The Bottom Line

If you're looking to save money on car insurance, GEICO is worth researching further. You can save money by customizing your insurance policy and by qualifying for GEICO 's many discounts.

GEICO has primarily received positive reviews on BestCompany.com, which is promising.
However, it has a higher proportion of negative reviews compared to other auto insurers. Considering these reviews will help you make a good purchase decision.

With GEICO insurance, you can also benefit from a helpful mobile app that makes filing claims convenient. You can also have peace of mind when you're getting covered repairs by participating in GEICO's Auto Repair Xpress® program.

While you do have to provide personal information to view quotes, the savings and service offered by GEICO make it worth considering.

Been with them 30 years and premiums continue to rise and it seems to be more expensive as we've had only a couple low paying claims. Need to reivew for sure when we get a moment!

My rates went up so much after my second accident even though I wasn’t at fault! The first claims adjuster that I had wasn’t very helpful and wasn’t very nice to my mom and I, but they ended up getting another person who was much more helpful and patient with us and our questions. My current collision adjuster, Andre works really hard on my claim and keeps us updated on what’s going on. The benefits are also good too but I’ll probably be looking for another insurance company soon to get lower rates.

I have been a customer of this company for 25 years. We're recently experienced an accident while stopped at a red light. While the claim was ultimately resolved and the vehicle was repaired and all costs covered by the other driver, I had to contact the company several times for updates to the claim and to push it through to completion. They're was no contact initiated by them throughout the entire 6 week process and I believe had I not contacted them multiple times, this claim would still be ongoing. I am very disappointed with the lack of support they provided.

Very disappointed with the attitude of the company, I have been a customer with automatic payment for 5 years, and every chance they have either a change of address, including new drivers or withdrawing them always increases the rate. They even increased the rate after removing a driver, which when I included they increased the rate. I feel cheated and I will change for a much lower value.

I've had Geico for many years and they're okay. Their website functionality and customer service is very good. However, when I actually did have to make a claim, it seemed like I was going against the grain in every way to get them to pay up and help me out. It seemed I was suddenly talking to the B-team of customer service reps and it was a difficult process, making it almost not worth it with the risk of my premium rising. I don' t think this is unique among auto insurance companies however, and their prices are very good.

We swapped to Geico a few years ago after my last insurance company decided not to take care of me when a car hit me when I had the right of way as a pedestrian. We were both represented by the same insurance company and didn't get what I deserved. Geico has had good prices, and mediocre at best customer service. I have had some issues with them, but the price is good.

I had Geico car insurance for about 8years and add on my husband and others that were part of my household. They were great at taking my money until I was in a serious accident & they tried every tactic to not pay. It was very disheartening at the time, I had so much to worry about with my recovery, had no car, had to retain a lawyer & was constantly on the phone with customer service. It was a horrible experience & I ended up leaving to go to liberty mutual. I have been with them for years with no issue & when I was in a small rear ended accident they were accommodating & had no issue covering anything.

We have Geico. For the most part they have been good. However, recently I had to make a change and the app said I had to call in so I did. The automated system kept saying it didn't understand me but eventually it said I could make the changes in the app and a special link was sent to me. I used the link and it eventually said I still had to call in to make the changes. So by the third call I was able to make the changes to my insurance. I was also told my new payment would be a certain amount but when they emailed me the updated info my payment next month is an additional $110 dollars and going forward from there my monthly payment is $47 dollars more a month then what I was told over the phone.

As a former customer, I would have to say they are good at some things like customer service. However, their prices go up without notice and they often are now higher than other companies. No longer are you receiving the 15% or better discount.

I had Geico for my auto insurance for a few years, and initially they were saving me a lot of money. Over the years, my rates have gone up, and I was able to get a much better rate with a different company. they were good for the time being, but it always pays to shop around!

We had a great experience with Geico for many years. They gave us a good rate for quite a while. Eventually though they did raise it and we had to switch to another company. They made it really inconvenient and difficult to cancel our policy. Which motivated me even more to leave. Overall I think they are a decent company but they didn't care enough about keeping us as customers to address the rate spike that we weren't comfortable with, so they lost us. We found better rates elsewhere for the time being.

I've used this service for around 3-4 years now and it's I guess as good as I need it to be for a simple auto insurance. There are definitely some fees or services I was being provided at extra costs I wasn't aware of at first. Thankfully, after doing some digging into the website, I was able to make those changes to take out things I don't feel I personally need for my insurance policy. Thankfully, I was able to make those changes with ease and will continue using them.

The people where nice and the prices were fair, but they like to give you the run around! Like they needed confirmation of address, so I faxed two pages to them, they still dropped me because it was supposed to be on one page???? They didn’t cover me for the three months I paid for nor did they return my money! Plus I had to pay for my son who doesn’t even have a license yet because he’s to young, but they said it because he could steal my car??

Geico is fine, and they are cheaper than most, but their claim service wasn't as fast a anticipated. I waited two days to hear back if my claim was going to be processed. And after an accident it's a stressful time, so waiting for the insurance to call, unfortunately heightens all anxiety that could be avoided with quicker service.

Geico was quick to call following an accident and was ready to submit the paperwork for paperwork. I have not had them personally but they were relatively easy to deal with when I was in an accident with their customers. I would say be prepared to answer questions quickly because they will try to pay you the lowest amount as fast as possible.

They are a good company, but I want an insurance agent. Everything I did with them was online. That is an efficient way to do business. I prefer a more personal touch. I went with a local company with an office close by and an agent that knows me by name.
