On an individual level with team members… optima is great. Technology has been poor … nearly impossible to to schedule an appointment, numerous ongoing appointment requests for dates in past versus future. I’m deeply frustrated with my initial contact Chuck for not including representation for California franchise tax board. This was the PRIMARY resin for me hiring Optima. I’m assured throughout my process I have state representation, yet find out 17 months later in final resolution that I’m fact I DO NOT HAVE STATE REPRESENTATION. furthermore I wait weeks at a time to get updates, and I get verbal confirmation from numerous employees that my state debt is being addressed. It is beyond frustrating and disappointing I have invested 17 months of my life and over $6,000 dollars to find a solution but still find myself on the exact square one I was on when I first called Optima when California franchise tax board was garnishing my wages in the first place. I truly hope I’m not scammed and I hope someone at Optima can uphold up their verbal promises to me.

Things seemed to be going well, however, 2 months ago the IRS put a levy on my bank account and I had to send in paperwork and do a few other steps to have the money put back into my account. Upon finishing this step, I was told by my Optima rep that the levy was lifted and I did not have to worry about that happening again. And then the other day it happened again, when I am away from home doing training for work nonetheless, and I have not been able to get a straight answer from Optima why this happened when I was specifically told nothing like that would happen again. I am now waiting to hear from a tax pro who is supposed to get in touch with the IRS agent so I can have the funds placed back, yet I have been calling for 2 days with no real response to what is going on.

They were able to negotiate an Offer In Compromise. My issue is that they did not communicate with me, or eachother. This ended up in a lot of my time spent explaining to them what was happening and what they had received. Bad communication with customers, bad follow-up (I always had to contact them for an update, never the other way around), and terrible communication in-house. I paid thousands of dollars for a service that wasn't worth $500 when it comes to customer service.

Save your money, they are nice and work with you, but there is a high percentage of people that the IRS won’t negotiate with to lower the cost. Optima will have the IRS set you up on a payment plan that you could have negotiated and protect your accounts, but as in saving you money they don’t and they charge a decent amount of money for nothing. They will communicate with you but will also try to up sell you on additional coverage. I gave them 2 stars because they do seem like they try and work with you but the results won’t benefit you for the cost if you make a descent income. You are prolonging the inevitable of paying the IRS. I owed $37,000 and paid $4,400 to optima to be put on a payment plan that I could have negotiated. It did save me from my accounts of being frozen, but saved me zero dollars owed.

Received a letter to garnish my wages. Optima helped me get that stopped, which was great. But, then to continue to help me, the fees were so freaking high. I ended up handling my IRS dealings on my own. And it went really great. They accepted my Offer of Compromise for less then what the fees to hire optima was going to be. So, I saved that money. Bottom line you can directly work with the IRS. My IRS agent told me that Businesses like Optima do exactly what I was doing. Nothing above and beyond. The IRS agent told me they receive the exact information that I did and use the exact forms. All praise to the Lord that the IRS has now accepted my settlement offer and I saved all those outrages fees. My advice would be to settle with the IRS on your own, because it saves thousands of dollars. I would have litereally wasted all the money to Optima when I could settle with the IRS for no fees except for the low cost fee the IRS charges for the paperwork fee, which was less than 200.00 dollars. Optima wanted to charge me $17,800.00 in fees to take my case. I settled for less than that w/the IRS on my taxes owed. Do research on your own to save you money. I was already in a bad financial situation and definetly did not have $17,800 lying around to just give away. I can fill out a form on my own and mail it in on my own.

I just spoke with a senior Tax consultant, I shared I I was not able to find out whether they were accredited other than BBB, like the NAEA, NATP, ASTPS? He said I should look on their Website , I explained I tried but could not Find the information He said to Contact The Accreditors , because He did not Know that Answer. Suggest I look on their webite I again said I did not know where to look ,He did not know either. To call these places, to do my due diligence. it was after hours. I let him know maybe I will call back tomorrow. I found the conversation little strange. The Tax consultant called me, after hours, was prepared to ask me questions. I did not feel He was able to have information for me. I think it reasonable to hope for some initial service to begin to help potential customers. If I was wrong I apologies

I Used Optima in the past to file and help me with 10 years of unpaid taxes. They were unable to get me an of in compromise but were able to get me to and noncollectable status. Basically just stopping any collection but not setting up payment schedule and not stopping any continued fees. I did not qualify because of my spouses income at the time. This cost a little over $6000 dollars. Now 2 years later I am divorced and call them to try again with and offer and compromise. They charged me just over $450 to do the investigation phase and after they failed to call on several phone appointments that they had made with me and switching my representative who didn't know much about my case.. I was told that to continue with the next phase it would be over $13000. When I asked why it was so high a cost the representative said he could not tell me why. They did not have to file any taxes for me as they did for me previously. I had already done that for the last 2 years. All they had to do was the negotiation. After asking several times why the price had more than doubled for not even a 1/4 of the work previously done I was told they would call me back. Several days went by and no call. I finally called and left a message. The rep called me back and told me the price did not change and he could not tell me any details of what i would be paying for and that maybe we should just part ways. So basically I paid them over $400 for no reason but to waste my time. I called them a second time as they had done an okay but not great job the first time but thought they would be familiar with my case. They had sent me tons of advertisements asking if i needed help over the last couple years. All of which did not come true. Do not waist your time after doing my research they have gone down hill and are not worth the money.

I'm concerned--very concerned. I paid $495 and was told that it would be about 90 days until next phase. It was more like 2 weeks and the investigation was complete. While that may be good in some ways--it was not for me. My finances are in a bad way right now and my bank account was frozen by IRS. I have been trying to recover the past month. Then I hear back from Optima Rep to tell me my case will be $7K to move on!!! What!! That is outrageous. I mean if I had $7K then I would work directly with the IRS! I paid $495 for info that I already knew and I feel taken advantage of. Very upsetting. The rep seemed to be using scare tactics to get me to commit to the $1000 per month payments for the 7 to 8 months to cover the $7K. That is outrageous! I really would like a refund of my 495!!!

This company did nothing, but take my money, add and subtract my monthly debts and increased my monthly installments by almost $200. I posted an accurate review and A. H. from their Q&A department called under the guise that she wanted to understand my dissatisfaction. During the conversation, she began firing off questions about the service agreement as if she was conducting a cross examination. Her lack of customer service further aggravated a frustrating situation. A few days later, and after I had time to think about the call, I sent her an email informing her that I was not happy with the services rendered for several reasons, and I do not need anything further from her or Optima. She is the worst Q & A rep I have ever encountered: personally or professionally.

Optima was recommended to me by a prior company that handled my taxes by shock they no longer do what I need and so they told me on the website to call Optima. So I took a chance. Was all in on the $1000 but after 3 weeks hit me for $4580 if I had that much I would of paid it to the IRS .this time I called the prior company and they recommended me on phone to another who we will work with me like they did at a fair price no sudden impact fees but something we can manage, Have to say the person I worked with Andy who started the case 100% professional I give that to Optima but most companies are once they get money.Just price is very high. Hope to get at least a partial refund because I feel little was done still garnished other company is working to end that issue. Sorry things did not work out here with Optima.

If I could go back in time, I would never have used this service or any other. I could have used Turbotax and saved myself the $3400 I gave to Optima. Plus, I would have copies of my actual tax returns filed. I have sent emails on their website with no reply and left voice messages but no calls returned. The miracle hype they espouse on the radio is just that, hype. Don't expect them to work miracles between the IRS and you. I bought it. I paid for it. I have buyers remorse.
